Reversible addition fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization and bifunctional sparteine/thiourea organocatalyst‐mediated ring opening polymerization (ROP) were combined to produce poly(L ‐lactide) star polymers and poly(L ‐lactide‐co‐styrene) miktoarm star copolymers architecture following a facile experimental procedure, and without the need for specialist equipment. RAFT was used to copolymerize ethyl acrylate (EA) and hydroxyethyl acrylate (HEA) into poly(EA‐co‐HEA) co‐oligomers of degree of polymerization 10 with 2, 3, and 4 units of HEA, which were in turn used as multifunctional initiators for the ROP of L ‐lactide, using a bifunctional thiourea organocatalytic system. Furthermore, taking advantage of the living nature of RAFT polymerization, the multifunctional initiators were chain extended with styrene (poly((EA‐co‐HEA)‐b‐styrene) copolymers), and used as initiators for the ROP of L ‐lactide, to yield miktoarm star copolymers. The ROP reactions were allowed to proceed to high conversions (>95%) with good control over molecular weights (ca. 28,000‐230,000 g/mol) and polymer structures being observed, although the molecular weight distributions are generally broader (1.3–1.9) than those normally observed for ROP reactions. The orthogonality of both polymerization techniques, coupled with the ubiquity of HEA, which is used as a monomer for RAFT polymerization and as an initiator for ROP, offer a versatile approach to star‐shaped copolymers. Furthermore, this approach offers a practical approach to the synthesis of polylactide star polymers without a glove box or stringent reaction conditions. The phase separation properties of the miktoarm star copolymers were demonstrated via thermal analyses. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 47: 6396–6408, 2009  相似文献

Methylated and pegylated poly(lactide)‐block‐poly(ε‐caprolactone)‐block‐poly(lactide) copolymers, PLA–P(CL‐co‐CLCH3)–PLA and PLA–P(CL‐co‐CLPEG)–PLA, were prepared in three steps: combining the formation of carbanion‐bearing dihydroxylated‐PCL, the coupling of iodomethane or bromoacetylated α‐hydroxyl‐ω‐methoxy‐poly(ethylene glycol) onto the carbanionic PCL, and finally the ring opening polymerization of DL ‐lactide initiated by the preformed grafted diOH‐PCL copolymers. The resulting block copolymers exhibited lower crystallinity, melting temperature, and hydrophobicity with respect to the original PCL. Degradation of the grafted copolymers was investigated in the presence of Pseudomonas cepacia lipase and compared with that of the triblock copolymer precursor. It is shown that the presence of the grafted substituents affected the enzymatic degradation of PCL segments. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Homopoly(L ‐lactide) and homopoly(D,L ‐lactide) were almost inert for biodegradation with tricine buffer or normal enzymes such as bromelain, pronase, and cholesterol esterase but biodegradable with proteinase K. Significantly enhanced biodegradation was observed when an optically active (R)‐ or (S)‐3‐methyl‐4‐oxa‐6‐hexanolide (MOHEL) unit was introduced into poly(L ‐lactide) [poly(L ‐LA)] or poly(D,L ‐lactide) [poly(D,L ‐LA)] sequences. Poly[L ‐LA‐ran‐(R)‐MOHEL] in molar ratios of 86/14 to 43/57 showed good biodegradability that was independent of crystallinity. The biodegradation of polymers with proteinase K increased in the following order: poly[D,L ‐LA‐ran‐(R)‐MOHEL] > poly[L ‐LA‐ran‐(R)‐MOHEL] > poly[D,L ‐LA‐ran‐(S)‐MOHEL] > poly[L ‐LA‐ran‐(S)‐MOHEL] > poly(R)‐MOHEL > poly(D,L ‐LA). The number‐average molecular weight, molecular weight distribution, glass‐transition temperature, and melting temperature did not change before and after the biodegradation of poly[L ‐LA‐ran‐(R)‐MOHEL], indicating that the degradation occurred from the polymer surface. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Biodegradable poly(L ‐lactide‐co‐ε‐caprolactone) copolymers with different L ‐lactide (LLA)/ε‐caprolactone (CL) ratios of 75/25 and 50/50 were electrospun into fine fibers. The deformation behavior of the electrospun membranes with randomly oriented structures was evaluated under uniaxial tensile loading. The electrospun membrane with a higher LLA content showed a significantly higher tensile modulus but a similar maximum stress and a lower ultimate strain in comparison with the membrane with a lower LLA content. The beaded fibers that formed in the membranes caused lower tensile properties. X‐ray diffraction and differential scanning calorimetry results suggested that the electrospun fine fibers developed highly oriented structures in CL‐unit sequences during the electrospinning process even though the concentration was only 25 wt %. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Novel poly(ester carbonate)s were synthesized by the ring‐opening polymerization of L ‐lactide and functionalized carbonate monomer 9‐phenyl‐2,4,8,10‐tetraoxaspiro[5,5]undecan‐3‐one derived from pentaerythritol with diethyl zinc as an initiator. 1H NMR analysis revealed that the carbonate content in the copolymer was almost equal to that in the feed. DSC results indicated that Tg of the copolymer increased with increasing carbonate content in the copolymer. Moreover, the protecting benzylidene groups in the copolymer poly(L ‐lactide‐co‐9‐phenyl‐2,4,8,10‐tetraoxaspiro[5,5]undecan‐3‐one) were removed by hydrogenation with palladium hydroxide on activated charcoal as a catalyst to give a functional copolymer, poly(L ‐lactide‐co‐2,2‐dihydroxylmethyl‐propylene carbonate), containing pendant primary hydroxyl groups. Complete deprotection was confirmed by 1H NMR and FTIR spectroscopy. The in vitro degradation rate of the deprotected copolymers was faster than that of the protected copolymers in the presence of proteinase K. The cell morphology and viability on a copolymer film evaluated with ECV‐304 cells showed that poly(ester carbonate)s derived from pentaerythritol are good biocompatible materials suitable for biomedical applications. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. D,L ‐3‐Methylglycolide (MG) was successfully polymerized with bimetallic (Al/Zn) μ‐oxo alkoxide as an initiator in toluene at 90 °C. The effect of the initiator concentration and monomer conversion on the molecular weight was studied. It is shown that the polymerization of MG follows a living process. A kinetic study indicated that the polymerization approximates the first order in the monomer, and no induction period was observed. 1H NMR spectroscopy showed that the ring‐opening polymerization proceeds through a coordination–insertion mechanism with selective cleavage of the acyl–oxygen bond of the monomer. On the basis of 1H NMR and 13C NMR analyses, the selective cleavage of the acyl–oxygen bond of the monomer mainly occurs at the least hindered carbonyl groups (P1 = 0.84, P2 = 0.16). Therefore, the main chain of poly(D,L ‐lactic acid‐co‐glycolic acid) (50/50 molar ratio) obtained from the homopolymerization of MG was primarily composed of alternating lactyl and glycolyl units. The diblock copolymers poly(ϵ‐caprolactone)‐b‐poly(D,L ‐lactic acid‐alt‐glycolic acid) and poly(L ‐lactide)‐b‐poly(D,L ‐lactic acid‐alt‐glycolic acid) were successfully synthesized by the sequential living polymerization of related lactones (ϵ‐caprolactone or L ‐lactide). 13C NMR spectra of diblock copolymers clearly show their pure diblock structures. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. The syntheses of amphiphilic AB‐type diblock copolymers composed of hydrophobic polylactide segment and hydrophilic polydepsipeptide segment with amino or carboxyl groups were performed. The protected cyclodepsipeptides cyclo[Glc‐Lys(Z)] and cyclo[Glc‐Asp(OBzl)] (where Glc is glycolic acid, Lys is lysine, Asp is aspartic acid, Z is benzyloxycarbonyl, and OBzl is benzyl) were first polymerized in tetrahydrofuran (THF) with potassium ethoxide as an initiator to obtain the corresponding protected polydepsipeptides. After the terminal hydroxyl groups of the protected polydepsipeptides were converted into the potassium alcoholates with K/naphthalene, L ‐lactide was polymerized in the presence of the corresponding polymeric alcoholates as macroinitiators in THF to obtain poly[Glc‐Lys(Z)]‐block‐poly(L ‐lactide) and poly[Glc‐Asp(OBzl)]‐block‐poly(L ‐lactide). Subsequent deprotection of Z and OBzl groups gave the objective amphiphiles poly(Glc‐Lys)‐block‐poly(L ‐lactide) and poly(Glc‐Asp)‐block‐poly(L ‐lactide), respectively. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of di‐ and triblock copolymers [poly(L ‐lactide‐b‐ε‐caprolactone), poly(D,L ‐lactide‐b‐ε‐caprolactone), poly(ε‐caprolactone‐b‐L ‐lactide), and poly(ε‐caprolactone‐b‐L ‐lactide‐b‐ε‐caprolactone)] have been synthesized successfully by sequential ring‐opening polymerization of ε‐caprolactone (ε‐CL) and lactide (LA) either by initiating PCL block growth with living PLA chain end or vice versa using titanium complexes supported by aminodiol ligands as initiators. Poly(trimethylene carbonate‐b‐ε‐caprolactone) was also prepared. A series of random copolymers with different comonomer composition were also synthesized in solution and bulk of ε‐CL and D,L ‐lactide. The chemical composition and microstructure of the copolymers suggest a random distribution with short average sequence length of both the LA and ε‐CL. Transesterification reactions played a key role in the redistribution of monomer sequence and the chain microstructures. Differential scanning calorimetry analysis of the copolymer also evidenced the random structure of the copolymer with a unique Tg. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide)‐co‐poly(Nε‐benzyloxycarbonyl‐L ‐lysine) graft copolymers (PNIPAm‐co‐PZLLys) with different side chains (degree of polymerization, DP = 5~40) and unit ratios (from 30 to 70 mol %) were prepared via free radical polymerization, followed by cleaving benzyloxycarbonyl groups (Z groups) to obtain the double hydrophilic graft copolymer, poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide)‐co‐poly(L ‐lysine) (PNIPAm‐co‐PLLys). The pH‐ and temperature‐response properties of the graft copolymers in aqueous solution were studied. The experimental results indicate L15‐N30 and L15N‐70, that is, the PNIPAm‐co‐PLLys having the poly(L ‐lysine) of DP = 15 as side chains as well as 30 and 70 mol %, respectively, of PNIPAm as backbone, have coil‐to‐helix transitions from pH 6 to pH 12 at room temperature and form uniform nanoscale micelle‐like dispersions in aqueous solution at pH 12. The graft copolymers also could form uniform and nanoscale micelle‐like structures at 50 °C in pH 6 buffer solution due to slightly polymer aggregation. With temperature and pH increased, both the deprotonated PLLys side chains and PNIPAm backbone become hydrophobic, leading to polymer precipitation. These results illustrate that a double tunable hydrophilic graft copolymer had been successfully synthesized via a simple radical polymerization, and could form micelles without serious polymer aggregation at a lower pH and a higher temperature. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Ring‐opening polymerization (ROP) in supercritical carbon dioxide (scCO2) has been the subject of much recent interest, although few publications describe the development of stabilizers to produce biodegradable particles of poly(L ‐lactide) (PLLA) and polyglycolide (PGA). Here we describe the synthesis of a series of novel fluorinated diblock copolymers by the acid‐catalyzed esterification of well‐defined blocks of polycaprolactone (PCL) with Krytox 157FSL, a carboxylic acid terminated perfluoropolyether. These diblock copolymers were then tested as stabilizers in the ROP of glycolide and L ‐lactide, or a mixture of the two, in scCO2, and this resulted in the corresponding homopolymers or random copolymers. In the absence of stabilizers, only aggregated solids were formed. When the reaction was repeated with a stabilizer, PGA and PLLA were obtained as discrete microparticles. The stabilizer efficiency increased as the length of the polymer‐philic PCL block increased. One optimized stabilizer worked at loadings as low as 3% (w/w) with respect to the monomer, demonstrating these to be extremely effective stabilizers. It was found that to produce microparticles with this process, the product polymers must be semicrystalline; amorphous polymers, such as poly(lactide‐co‐glycolide), are plasticized by scCO2 and yield only aggregated solids rather than discrete particles. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Random and block copolymerizations of L ‐ or D ‐lactide with ε‐caprolactone (CL) were performed with a novel anionic initiator, (C5Me5)2SmMe(THF), and they resulted in partial epimerization, generating D ,L ‐ or meso‐lactide polymers with enhanced biodegradability. A blend of PLLA‐r‐PCL [82/18; PLLA = poly(L ‐LA) and PCL = poly(ε‐caprolactone)] and PDLA‐r‐PCL [79/21; PDLA = poly(D ‐LA)] prepared by the solution‐casting method generated a stereocomplex, the melting temperature of which was about 40 °C higher than that of the nonblended copolymers. A blend of PLLA‐b‐PCL (85/15) and PDLA‐b‐PCL (82/18) showed a lower elongation at break and a remarkably higher tensile modulus than stereocomplexes of PLLA‐r‐PCL/PDLA‐r‐PCL and PLLA/PDLA. The biodegradability of a blend of PLLA‐r‐PCL (65/35) and PDLA‐r‐PCL (66/34) with proteinase K was higher than that of PLLA‐b‐PCL (47/53) and PDLA‐b‐PCL (45/55), the degradability of which was higher than that of a PLLA/PDLA blend. A blend film of PLLA‐r‐PDLLA (69/31)/PDLA‐r‐PDLLA (68/32) exhibited higher degradability than a film of PLLA/PDLLA [PDLLA = poly(D ,L ‐LA)]. A stereocomplex of PLLA‐r‐PCL‐r‐PDMO [80/18/2; PDMO = poly(L ‐3,D ,L ‐6‐dimethyl‐2,5‐morpholinedion)] with PDLA‐r‐PCL‐r‐PDMO (81/17/2) showed higher degradability than PLLA‐r‐PDMO (98/2)/PDLA‐r‐PDMO (98/2) and PLLA‐r‐PCL (82/18)/PDLA‐r‐PCL (79/21) blends. The tensile modulus of a blend of PLLA‐r‐PCL‐r‐PDMO and PDLA‐r‐PCL‐r‐PDMO was much higher than that of a blend of PLLA‐r‐PDMO and PDLA‐r‐PDMO. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. An amphiphilic block copolymer, poly(ethylene glycol)‐block‐poly(L ‐lactide‐co‐2‐methyl‐2‐benzoxycarbonyl‐propylene carbonate) [PEG‐b‐P(LA‐co‐MBC)], was synthesized in bulk by the ring‐opening polymerization of L ‐lactide with 2‐methyl‐2‐benzoxycarbonyl‐propylene carbonate (MBC) in the presence of poly(ethylene glycol) as a macroinitiator with diethyl zinc as a catalyst. The subsequent catalytic hydrogenation of PEG‐b‐P(LA‐co‐MBC) with palladium hydroxide on activated charcoal (20%) as a catalyst was carried out to obtain the corresponding linear copolymer poly(ethyleneglycol)‐block‐poly(L ‐lactide‐co‐2‐methyl‐2‐carboxyl‐propylenecarbonate) [PEG‐b‐P(LA‐co‐MCC)] with pendant carboxyl groups. DSC analysis indicated that the glass‐transition temperature (Tg) of PEG‐b‐P(LA‐co‐MBC) decreased with increasing MBC content in the copolymer, and Tg of PEG‐b‐P(LA‐co‐MCC) was higher than that of the corresponding PEG‐b‐P(LA‐co‐MBC). The in vitro degradation rate of PEG‐b‐P(LA‐co‐MCC) in the presence of proteinase K was faster than that of PEG‐b‐P(LA‐co‐MBC), and the cytotoxicity of PEG‐b‐P(LA‐co‐MCC) to chondrocytes from human fetal arthrosis was lower than that of poly(L ‐lactide). © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of poly(L ‐lysine)s grafted with aliphatic polyesters, poly(L ‐lysine)‐graft‐poly(L ‐lactide) (PLy‐g‐PLLA) and poly(L ‐lysine)‐graft‐poly(?‐caprolactone) (PLy‐ g‐PCL), were synthesized through the Michael addition of poly(L ‐lysine) and maleimido‐terminated poly(L ‐lactide) or poly(?‐caprolactone). The graft density of the polyesters could be adjusted by the variation of the feed ratio of poly(L ‐lysine) to the maleimido‐terminated polyesters. IR spectra of PLy‐g‐PCL showed that the graft copolymers adopted an α‐helix conformation in the solid state. Differential scanning calorimetry measurements of the two kinds of graft copolymers indicated that the glass transition temperature of PLy‐g‐PLLA and the melting temperature of PLy‐g‐PCL increased with the increasing graft density of the polyesters on the backbone of poly(L ‐lysine). Circular dichroism analysis of PLy‐g‐PCL in water demonstrated that the graft copolymer existed in a random‐coil conformation at pH 6 and as an α‐helix at pH 9. In addition, PLy‐g‐PCL was found to form micelles to vesicles in an aqueous medium with the increasing graft density of poly(?‐caprolactone). © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Core‐shell structured nanoparticles of poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG)/polypeptide/poly(D ,L ‐lactide) (PLA) copolymers were prepared and their properties were investigated. The copolymers had a poly(L ‐serine) or poly(L ‐phenylalanine) block as a linker between a hydrophilic PEG and a hydrophobic PLA unit. They formed core‐shell structured nanoparticles, where the polypeptide block resided at the interface between a hydrophilic PEG shell and a hydrophobic PLA core. In the synthesis, poly(ethylene glycol)‐b‐poly(L ‐serine) (PEG‐PSER) was prepared by ring opening polymerization of N‐carboxyanhydride of O‐(tert‐butyl)‐L ‐serine and subsequent removal of tert‐butyl groups. Poly(ethylene glycol)‐b‐poly(L ‐phenylalanine) (PEG‐PPA) was obtained by ring opening polymerization of N‐carboxyanhydride of L ‐phenylalanine. Methoxy‐poly(ethylene glycol)‐amine with a MW of 5000 was used as an initiator for both polymerizations. The polymerization of D ,L ‐lactide by initiation with PEG‐PSER and PEG‐PPA produced a comb‐like copolymer, poly(ethylene glycol)‐b‐[poly(L ‐serine)‐g‐poly(D ,L ‐lactide)] (PEG‐PSER‐PLA) and a linear copolymer, poly(ethylene glycol)‐b‐poly(L ‐phenylalanine)‐b‐poly(D ,L ‐lactide) (PEG‐PPA‐PLA), respectively. The nanoparticles obtained from PEG‐PPA‐PLA showed a negative zeta potential value of ?16.6 mV, while those of PEG‐PSER‐PLA exhibited a positive value of about 19.3 mV. In pH 7.0 phosphate buffer solution at 36 °C, the nanoparticles of PEG/polypeptide/PLA copolymers showed much better stability than those of a linear PEG‐PLA copolymer having a comparable molecular weight. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A dilactone, 13,26‐dihexyl‐1,14‐dioxacyclohexacosane‐2,15‐dione (12‐HSAD), was synthesized by lipase‐catalyzed reaction of 12‐hydroxystearic acid (12‐HSA) in high yield. It was subjected to the ring‐opening polymerization with various catalysts to obtain poly(12‐hydroxystearate) (PHS). The polymerization system of 12‐HSAD showed an interesting polymerization behavior because of its large ring system. The polymers produced by this polymerization were directly reacted with L ‐lactide to obtain a diblock copolymer of poly(L ‐lactide)‐block‐poly‐(12‐hydroxystearate) (PLLA‐b‐PHS). Characterization of the resultant copolymers was also performed. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem, 2011  相似文献

Comb‐like amphiphilic poly(poly((lactic acid‐co‐glycolic acid)‐block‐poly(ethylene glycol)) methacrylate (poly((PLGA‐b‐PEG)MA)) copolymers were synthesized by radical polymerization. (PLGA‐b‐PEG)MA macromonomer was prepared by ring‐opening bulk polymerization of DL ‐lactide and glycolide using purified poly(ethylene glycol) monomethacrylate (PEGMA) as an initiator. (PLGA‐b‐PEG)MA macromonomer was copolymerized with PEGMA and/or acrylic acid (AA) by radical polymerization to produce comb‐like amphiphilic block copolymers. The molecular weight and chemical structure were investigated by GPC and 1H NMR. Poly((PLGA‐b‐PEG)MA) copolymer aqueous solutions showed gel–sol transition behavior with increasing temperature, and gel‐to‐sol transition temperature decreased as the compositions of the hydrophilic PEGMA and AA increased. The gel‐to‐sol transition temperature of the terpolymers of the poly((PLGA‐b‐PEG)MA‐co‐PEGMA‐co‐AA) also decreased when the pH was increased. The effective micelle diameter obtained from dynamic light scattering increased with increasing temperature and with increasing pH. The critical micelle concentration increased as the composition of the hydrophilic monomer component, PEGMA and AA, were increased. The spherical shape of the hyperbranched polymers in aqueous environment was observed by atomic force microscopy. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Star‐shaped homo‐ and copolymers were synthesized in a controlled fashion using two different initiating systems. Homopolymers of ε‐caprolactone, L ‐lactide, and 1,5‐dioxepan‐2‐one were firstly polymerized using (I) a spirocyclic tin initiator and (II) stannous octoate (cocatalyst) together with pentaerythritol ethoxylate 15/4 EO/OH (coinitiator), to give polymers with identical core moieties. Our gained understanding of the versatile and controllable initiator systems kinetics, the transesterification reactions occurring, and the role which the reaction conditions play on the material outcome, made it possible to tailor the copolymer microstructure. Two strategies were used to successfully synthesize copolymers of different microstructures with the two initiator systems, i.e., a more multiblock‐ or a block‐structure. The correct choice of the monomer addition order enabled two distinct blocks to be created for the copolymers of poly(DXO‐co‐LLA) and poly(CL‐co‐LLA). In the case of poly(CL‐co‐DXO), multiblock copolymers were created using both systems whereas longer blocks were created with the spirocyclic tin initiator. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Diblock copolymers consisting of methoxy poly(ethylene glycol) (MPEG) and poly(?‐caprolactone) (PCL), poly(δ‐valerolactone) (PVL), poly(L ‐lactic acid) (PLLA), or poly(lactic‐co‐glycolic acid) (PLGA) as biodegradable polyesters were prepared to examine the phase transition of diblock copolymer solutions. MPEG–PCL and MPEG–PVL diblock copolymers and MPEG–PLLA and MPEG–PLGA diblock copolymers were synthesized by the ring‐opening polymerization of ?‐caprolactone or δ‐valerolactone in the presence of HCl · Et2O as a monomer activator at room temperature and by the ring‐opening polymerization of L ‐lactide or a mixture of L ‐lactide and glycolide in the presence of stannous octoate at 130 °C, respectively. The synthesized diblock copolymers were characterized with 1H NMR, IR, and gel permeation chromatography. The phase transitions for diblock copolymer aqueous solutions of various concentrations were explored according to the temperature variation. The diblock copolymer solutions exhibited the phase transition from gel to sol with increasing temperature. As the polyester block length of the diblock copolymers increased, the gel‐to‐sol transition moved to a lower concentration region. The gel‐to‐sol transition showed a dependence on the length of the polyester block segment. According to X‐ray diffraction and differential scanning calorimetry thermal studies, the gel‐to‐sol transition of the diblock copolymer solutions depended on their degrees of crystallinity because water could easily diffuse into amorphous polymers in comparison with polymers with a crystalline structure. The crystallinity markedly depended on both the distinct character and composition of the block segment. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 42: 5784–5793, 2004  相似文献

New biodegradable/biocompatible ABC block copolymers, poly(ethylene oxide)‐b‐poly(glycidol)‐b‐poly(L ,L ‐lactide) (PEO‐PGly‐PLLA), were synthesized. First, PEO‐b‐poly(1‐ethoxyethylglycidol)‐b‐PLLA was synthesized by a successive anionic ring‐opening copolymerization of ethylene oxide, 1‐ethoxyethylglycidyl ether, and L ,L ‐lactide initiated with potassium 2‐methoxyethanolate. In the second step, the 1‐ethoxyethyl blocking groups of 1‐ethoxyethylglycidyl ether were removed at weakly acidic conditions leaving other blocks intact. The resulting copolymers were composed of hydrophilic and hydrophobic segments joined by short polyglycidol blocks with one hydroxyl group in each monomeric unit. These hydroxyl groups may be used for further copolymer transformations. The PEO‐PGly‐PLLA copolymers with a molecular weight of PLLA blocks below 5000 were water‐soluble. Above the critical micellar concentration (ranging from 0.05 to1.0 g/L, depending on the composition of copolymer), copolymers formed macromolecular micelles with a hydrophobic PLLA core and hydrophilic PEO shell. The diameters of the micelles were about 25 nm. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 41: 3750–3760, 2003  相似文献

Poly(D ,L ‐lactide) and poly(D ,L ‐lactide‐co‐glycolide) with various composition and with one methacrylate and one carboxylate end group were synthesized and grafted onto poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) via the carboxylate group. The graft copolymers were crosslinked via the methacrylate groups using a free radical initiator. The polymer networks were characterized by means of NMR and studied qualitatively by means of IR spectroscopy. The influence of the glycolide content in the polyester grafts and of the number of ester units in the grafts on thermal properties and swellability were studied as well. The high swellability in water is characteristic of all hydrogels. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) showed a single glass transition temperature that occurs in the range between 51 and 69 °C. Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) of the networks showed the main loss in weight in the temperature range between 290 and 370 °C. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
