Molecular catalysts based on coordination complexes for the generation of hydrogen via photochemical water splitting exhibit a large versatility and tunability of the catalytic properties through chemical functionalization. In the present work, we report on light-driven hydrogen production in an aqueous solution using a series of cobalt polypyridine complexes as hydrogen evolving catalysts (HECs) in combination with CuInS2@ZnS quantum dots (QDs) as sensitizers, and ascorbate as the electron donor. A peculiar trend in activity has been observed depending on the substituents present on the polypyridine ligand. This trend markedly differs from that previously recorded using [Ru(bpy)3]2+ (where bpy = 2,2’-bipyridine) as the sensitizer and can be ascribed to different kinetically limiting pathways in the photochemical reaction (viz. protonation kinetics with the ruthenium chromophore, catalyst activation via electron transfer from the QDs in the present system). Hence, this work shows how the electronic effects on light-triggered molecular catalysis are not exclusive features of the catalyst unit but depend on the whole photochemical system.  相似文献

The essence of developing a Pt-based single-atom catalyst (SAC) for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) is the preparation of well-defined and stable single Pt sites with desired electrocatalytic efficacy. Herein, we report a facile approach to generate uniformly dispersed Pt sites with outstanding HER performance via a photochemical reduction method using polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) molecules as the key additive to significantly simplify the synthesis and enhance the catalytic performance. The as-prepared catalyst displays remarkable kinetic activities (20 times higher current density than the commercially available Pt/C) with excellent stability (76.3 % of its initial activity after 5000 cycles) for HER. EXAFS measurements and DFT calculations demonstrate a synergetic effect, where the PVP ligands and the support together modulate the electronic structure of the Pt atoms, which optimize the hydrogen adsorption energy, resulting in a considerably improved HER activity.  相似文献

The design of high‐performance electrocatalysts for the alkaline hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) is highly desirable for the development of alkaline water electrolysis. Phase‐ and interface‐engineered platinum–nickel nanowires (Pt‐Ni NWs) are highly efficient electrocatalysts for alkaline HER. The phase and interface engineering is achieved by simply annealing the pristine Pt‐Ni NWs under a controlled atmosphere. Impressively, the newly generated nanomaterials exhibit superior activity for the alkaline HER, outperforming the pristine Pt‐Ni NWs and commercial Pt/C, and also represent the best alkaline HER catalysts to date. The enhanced HER activities are attributed to the superior phase and interface structures in the engineered Pt‐Ni NWs.  相似文献

A noble‐metal‐free system for photochemical hydrogen production is described, based on ascorbic acid as sacrificial donor, aluminium pyridyl porphyrin as photosensitizer, and cobaloxime as catalyst. Although the aluminium porphyrin platform has docking sites for both the sacrificial donor and the catalyst, the resulting associated species are essentially inactive because of fast unimolecular reversible electron‐transfer quenching. Rather, the photochemically active species is the fraction of sensitizer present, in the aqueous/organic solvent used for hydrogen evolution, as free species. As shown by nanosecond laser flash photolysis experiments, its long‐lived triplet state reacts bimolecularly with the ascorbate donor, and the reduced sensitizer thus formed, subsequently reacts with the cobaloxime catalyst, thereby triggering the hydrogen evolution process. The performance is good, particularly in terms of turnover frequencies (TOF=10.8 or 3.6 min?1, relative to the sensitizer or the catalyst, respectively) and the quantum yield (Φ=4.6 %, that is, 9.2 % of maximum possible value). At high sacrificial donor concentration, the maximum turnover number (TON=352 or 117, relative to the sensitizer or the catalyst, respectively) is eventually limited by hydrogenation of both sensitizer (chlorin formation) and catalyst.  相似文献

A crystalline coordination polymer (CP) photocatalyst (Cu‐RSH) which combines redox‐active copper centers with photoactive rhodamine‐derived ligands remains stable in acid and basic solutions from pH 2 to 14, and efficiently catalyzes dihydrogen evolution at a maximum rate of 7.88 mmol g?1 h?1 in the absence of a mediator and a co‐catalyst. Cyclic voltammetry, control experiments, and DFT calculations established that copper nodes with open coordination sites and favorable redox potentials, aided by spatially ordered stacking of rhodamine‐based linkers, account for the high catalytic performance of Cu‐RSH. Emission quenching, time‐resolved fluorescence decay, and transient photocurrent experiments disclosed the charge separation and transfer process in the catalytic system. The present study demonstrates the potential of crystalline copper CPs for the practical utilization of light.  相似文献

Visible‐light‐driven H2 evolution based on Dye/TiO2/Pt hybrid photocatalysts was investigated for a series of (E)‐3‐(5′‐{4‐[bis(4‐R1‐phenyl)amino]phenyl}‐4,4′‐(R2)2‐2,2′‐bithiophen‐5‐yl)‐2‐cyanoacrylic acid dyes. Efficiencies of hydrogen evolution from aqueous suspensions in the presence of ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid as electron donor under illumination at λ>420 nm were found to considerably depend on the hydrophilic character of R1, varying in the order MOD (R1=CH3OCH2, R2=H)≈ MO4D (R1=R2=CH3OCH2)> HD (R1=R2=H)> PD (R1=C3H7, R2=H). In the case of MOD /TiO2/Pt, the apparent quantum yield for photocatalyzed H2 generation at 436 nm was 0.27±0.03. Transient absorption measurements for MOD ‐ or PD ‐grafted transparent films of TiO2 nanoparticles dipped into water at pH 3 commonly revealed ultrafast formation (<100 fs) of the dye radical cation (Dye.+) followed by multicomponent decays, which involve minor fast decays (<5 ps) almost independent of R1 and major slower decays with significant differences between the two samples: 1) the early decay of the major components for MOD is about 2.5 times slower than that for PD and 2) a redshift of the spectrum occurred for MOD with a time constant of 17 ps, but not for PD . The substituent effects on H2 generation as well as on transient behavior have been discussed in terms substituent‐dependent charge recombination (CR) of Dye.+ with electrons in bulk, inner‐trap, and/or interstitial‐trap states, arising from different solvent reorganization.  相似文献

A study of visible‐light‐driven hydrogen production using a multicomponent system consisting of different boron dipyrromethene (BODIPY) dyes, triethylamine and [{Pd(PPh3)Cl2}2] from THF/water mixtures is presented. A trio of meso‐mesityl BODIPY dyes display the best activities and long‐term stabilities of more than ten days with the 2,6‐diiodo derivative showing the best performance.  相似文献

Nature uses hydrogenase enzyme to catalyze proton reduction at pH 7 with overpotentials and catalytic efficiencies that rival platinum electrodes. Over the past several years, [FeFe]‐hydrogenase ([FeFe]‐H2ase) mimics have been demonstrated to be effective catalysts for light‐driven H2 evolution. However, it remains a significant challenge to realize H2 production by such an artificial photosynthetic system in neutral aqueous solution. Herein, we report a new system for photocatalytic H2 evolution working in a broad pH range, especially under neutral conditions. This unique system is consisted of branched polyethylenimine (PEI)‐grafted [FeFe]‐H2ase mimic (PEI‐g‐Fe2S2 ), MPA‐CdSe quantum dots (MPA=mercaptopropionic acid), and ascorbic acid (H2A) in water. Due to the secondary coordination sphere of PEI, which has high buffering capacity and stabilizing ability, the system is able to produce H2 under visible‐light irradiation with turnover number of 10 600 based on the Fe2S2 active site in PEI‐g‐Fe2S2 . The stability and activity are much better than that of the same system under acidic or basic conditions and they are, to the best of our knowledge, the highest known to date for photocatalytic H2 evolution from a [FeFe]‐H2ase mimic in neutral aqueous solution.  相似文献

The development of an efficient and stable artificial photosensitizer for visible‐light‐driven hydrogen production is highly desirable. Herein, a new series of charge‐neutral, heteroleptic tricyclometalated iridium(III) complexes, [Ir(thpy)2(bt)] ( 1 – 4 ; thpy=2,2′‐thienylpyridine, bt=2‐phenylbenzothiazole and its derivatives), were systematically synthesized and their structural, photophysical, and electrochemical properties were established. Three solid‐state structures were studied by X‐ray crystallographic analysis. This design offers the unique opportunity to drive the metal‐to‐ligand charge‐transfer (MLCT) band to longer wavelengths for these iridium complexes. We describe new molecular platforms that are based on these neutral iridium complexes for the production of hydrogen through visible‐light‐induced photocatalysis over an extended period of time in the presence of [Co(bpy)3]2+ and triethanolamine (TEOA). The maximum amount of hydrogen was obtained under constant irradiation over 72 h and the system could regenerate its activity upon the addition of cobalt‐based catalysts when hydrogen evolution ceased. Our results demonstrated that the dissociation of the [Co(bpy)3]2+ catalyst contributed to the loss of catalytic activity and limited the long‐term catalytic performance of the systems. The properties of the neutral complexes are compared in detail to those of two known non‐neutral bpy‐type complexes, [Ir(thpy)2(dtb‐bpy)]+ ( 5 ) and [Ir(ppy)2(dtb‐bpy)]+ ( 6 ; ppy=2‐phenylpyridine, dtb‐bpy=4,4′‐di‐tert‐butyl‐2,2′‐dipyridyl). This work is expected to contribute toward the development of long‐lasting solar hydrogen‐production systems.  相似文献

Carbonyl‐grafted g‐C3N4 porous nanosheets (COCNPNS) were fabricated by means of a two‐step thermal process using melamine and oxalic acid as starting reagents. The combination of melamine with oxalic acid to form a melamine–oxalic acid supramolecule as a precursor is key to synthesizing carbonyl‐grafted g‐C3N4. The bulk carbonyl‐grafted g‐C3N4 (COCN) was further thermally etched onto porous nanosheets by O2 under air. In such a process, the carbonyl groups were partly removed and the obtained sample showed remarkably enhanced visible‐light harvesting and promoted the separation and transfer of photogenerated electrons and holes. With its unique porous structure and enhanced light‐harvesting capability, under visible‐light illumination (λ >420 nm) the prepared COCNPNS exhibited a superior photocatalytic hydrogen evolution rate of 83.6 μmol h−1, which is 26 times that of the p‐CN obtained directly from thermal polycondensation of melamine.  相似文献

Aggregates of a lipophilic guanine (G) derivative have been studied in n‐hexane by femtosecond‐to‐microsecond UV‐visible broadband transient absorption, stationary infrared and UV‐visible spectroscopy and by quantum chemical calculations. We report the first time‐resolved spectroscopic detection of hydrogen transfer in GG aggregates, which leads to (G?H) . radicals by means of G+G? charge transfer followed by proton transfer. These radicals show a characteristic electronic spectrum in the range 300–550 nm. The calculated superimposed spectrum of the species that result from NH???N proton transfer agrees best with the experimental spectrum.  相似文献

The electrochemical deposition of Cu nanoparticles with an average diameter of approximately 25–35 nm has been reported at liquid–liquid interfaces by using the organic‐phase electron‐donor decamethylferrocene (DMFc). The electrodeposited Cu nanoparticles display excellent catalytic activity for the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER); this is the first reported catalytic effect of Cu nanoparticles at liquid–liquid interfaces.  相似文献

The complex [Ni(bpy)3]2+ (bpy=2,2′‐bipyridine) is an active catalyst for visible‐light‐driven H2 production from water when employed with [Ir(dfppy)2(Hdcbpy)] [dfppy=2‐(3,4‐difluorophenyl)pyridine, Hdcbpy=4‐carboxy‐2,2′‐bipyridine‐4′‐carboxylate] as the photosensitizer and triethanolamine as the sacrificial electron donor. The highest turnover number of 520 with respect to the nickel(II) catalyst is obtained in a 8:2 acetonitrile/water solution at pH 9. The H2‐evolution system is more stable after the addition of an extra free bpy ligand, owing to faster catalyst regeneration. The photocatalytic results demonstrate that the nickel(II) polypyridyl catalyst can act as a more effective catalyst than the commonly utilized [Co(bpy)3]2+. This study may offer a new paradigm for constructing simple and noble‐metal‐free catalysts for photocatalytic hydrogen production.  相似文献

Two donor–bridge–acceptor conjugates (5,10,15,20‐tetrakis[4‐(N,N‐diphenylaminobenzoate)phenyl] porphyrin (TPPZ) and 5,10,15,20‐tetrakis[4‐(N,N‐diphenylaminostyryl)phenyl] porphyrin (TPPX)) were covalently linked to triphenylamine (TPA) at the meso‐position of porphyrin ring. The triphenylamine entities were expected to act as energy donors and the porphyrins to act as an energy acceptor. In this paper, we report on the synthesis of these multibranched‐porphyrin‐functionalized Pt nanocomposites. The conjugates used here not only served as a stabilizer to prevent agglomeration of Pt nanoparticles, but also as a light‐harvesting photosensitizer. The occurrence of photoinduced electron‐transfer processes was confirmed by time‐resolved fluorescence and photoelectrochemical spectral measurements. The different efficiencies for energy and electron transfer in the two multibranched porphyrins and the functionalized Pt nanocomposites were attributed to diverse covalent linkages. Moreover, in the reduction of water to produce H2, the photocatalytic activity of the Pt nanocomposite functionalized by TPPX, in which the triphenylamine and porphyrin moieties are bonded through an ethylene bridge, was much higher than that of the platinum nanocomposite functionalized by TPPZ, in which the two moieties are bonded through an ester. This investigation demonstrates the fundamental advantages of constructing donor–bridge–acceptor conjugates as highly efficient photosensitizers based on efficient energy and electron transfer.  相似文献
