Experimental data are used to constrain the parameters of the six quark mixing model and of a composite quark model. A combined fit of the mixing angles in the Kobayashi-Maskawa scheme gives sinθ 1=0.228±0.011 and error contours around the best values sinθ 2=0.12 and sinθ 3≈0. From this, a limit of τ B >0.35×10?13 s for the mean lifetime of bottom-flavoured hadrons is obtained. For the composite quark model of Katsumata and Tomozawa, a value of τ B =(0.22?0.23)10?13 s is derived.  相似文献

A new experimental determination of the electro-weak mixing angle θW is reported based on a second exposure of the CHARM calorimeter to the CERN-SPS wide-band beam. The ratio R of muon-neutrino- and muon-antineutrino-electron scattering cross section has been determined from a sample of 37 ± 10 and 35 ± 10 events. The experimental result is R = 1.26?0.45+0.72, corresponding to a value of sin2θW = 0.216 ± 0.055. The total sample of events collected in the CHARM calorimeter during the two exposures is (83 ± 16)νμeevents and (112 ± 21)νμe events, leadint to the final result sin2θW = 0.215 ± 0.032. The systematic error is estimated to be ± 0.012.  相似文献

The parity violating E1-amplitude for the 6S–7S transition in cesium has been calculated from first principles: 〈7S|Dz|6S〉 = (0.88 ± 0.03) × 10?11 (?QWN)(?ieaB), where QW is the weak nuclear charge, N is the number of neutrons, and aB is The Bohr radius. The experimental data from Bouchiat et al. make it possible to find QW = ?73.4 ± 8.1 ± 6 and the Weinberg angle sin2θW = 0.237 ± 0.036 ± 0.03. To control the accuracy, the energy levels, the fine and hyperfine structure intervals and the oscillator strenghts in the S-P transitions in Cs have been calculated.  相似文献

We describe in detail the calculation of all first-order electroweak radiative corrections to total and differential neutrino cross sections and to the parity-violating asymmetry in ed scattering. We find that leading log approximations agree well with our exact result for the shape, but not necessarily the magnitude, of the corrections to dσν,ν/dγ except for γ → 1. Corrections to total neutrino cross sections have also been calculated by Marciano and Sirlin; our results agree with theirs. The corrections to sin2θw are experiment dependent. If sin2θw is defined in the MS scheme at a scale Mw, they reduce the average value found from the ratio of charged to neutral current neutrino scattering by 0.012 to 0.215 ± 0.015. They reduce the value obatained from the Paschos Wolfenstein relation by 0.008 to 0.221 ± 0.014. In ed scattering they reduce the value by 0.008 to 0.215 ± 0.015. Using a corrected value of 0.215 ± 0.015 and the first-order corrections to the mass formulae, the SU(2) × U(1) predictions for the vector boson masses are Mw = 83.1?2.8+3.1rmGeV and Mz = 93.8?2.2+2.5 GeV, about five GeV larger than obtained from the lowest order analysis.  相似文献

A rotational assignment of approximately 80 lines with Ka′ = 0, 1, 2, 3, and 4 has been made of the 593 nm 2A12B2 band of NO2 using cw dye laser excitation and microwave optical double-resonance spectroscopy. Rotational constants for the 2B2 state were obtained as A = 8.52 cm?1, B = 0.458 cm?1, and C = 0.388 cm?1. Spin splittings for the Ka′ = 0 excited state levels fit a simple symmetric top formula and give (?bb + ?cc)2 = ?0.0483 cm?1. Spin splittings for Ka′ = 1 (N′ even) are irregular and are shown to change sign between N′ = 6 and 8. Assuming that the large inertial defect of 4.66 amu Å2 arises solely from A, a structure for the 2B2 state is obtained which gives r (NO) = 1.35 A? and an ONO angle of 105°. Alternatively, weighting the three rotational constants equally gives r = 1.29 A? and θ = 118°.  相似文献

Films of erbium were evaporated onto the inside wall of a pyrex glass reaction vessel at 1O?9 torr. Their mean thickness (200–600 Å) was deduced from their mass and geometrical area. Estimates of their surface areas were made from the physical adsorption of krypton at 78 °K (BET method) giving a mean specific surface area of 71 m?2 g?1. The number of surface sites was calculated from a relationship given by Brennan et al.1). The sorption of hydrogen and oxygen was studied separately, by measuring the changes in the electrical resistance of the films as a function of the amount of pure gas admitted to the reaction vessel in measured doses ~ 1018 atoms per dose. The experiments were repeated at 295 °K, 200 °K, 130–140 °K for both gases (measurements at 78 °K were not reproducible, probably because of a magnetic phase change). Hydrogen at 295 °K [as reported2)] caused an initial increase ΔR in the original resistance R to a maximum ΔRR ~ 20 %, which was followed by a decrease to ΔRR = 0 and then to ΔRR < 0. A similar pattern of resistance changes was observed at 200°K and 130–140°K with smaller changes of ΔRR, i.e. 16 % and 8 % respectively, but no significant differance in surface (θ) and bulk atomic ratios at which the maxima occurred, e.g. ΔRR was a maximum for 1.6?θ?1.9.  相似文献

Thermoelectric power using reversible silver electrodes and electrical conductivity on the compressed pellets of (Me4N)2Ag13I15, and (Et4N)2Ag13I15 have been measured between room temperature and below 160°C. The results of θ can be expressed by the equations:?θ = 0.115 (103/T)+0.2905VK?1 and ?θ = 0.150 (103/T) + 0.305mV K?1; and those of conductivity by the equations; σ = 28.7 exp (?0.17eV/kT) ohm?1cm?1 and σ = 216.6 exp (?0.24eVkT) ohm?1cm?1; respectively for Me- and Et-electrolytes. We report on results from a study of hadron-energy distributions for ν and ν inclusive neutral current interactions. There is no significant variation of the neutral to charged current total cross-section ratios Rν and Rν with neutrino energy. The space-time structure of neutral currents is dominated by V?A, with a significant admixture of V+A. The Weinberg-Salam model is in agreement with all data if sin2θw=0.24±0.02.  相似文献

Measurements of both the analyzing power and cross section were made for the (p, α) reactions on 58,60,62Ni at an incident energy of 22 MeV. Data were taken for the strongly populated proton-hole states (0f72, 1s12 and 0d32) in the residual cobalt isotopes and for 8 weakly populated low-lying states in 55Co and 59Co. Angular distributions were taken between θlab = 10° and 140° for the ground state and θlab = 10° and 80° for the excited states. Both the cross sections and analyzing powers exhibit a similar angular distribution for states having the same Jπ values except in the transition to the 32? state in 59Co at 1.099 MeV. Using the observed J-dependence of the analyzing power, the unknown Jπ values for the states at 2.982 MeV in 55Co and 3.090 MeV in 59Co are assigned to be 92?. The shapes of the differential cross sections were well reproduced by the zero-range DWBA calculations using a triton-cluster form factor. However, all the measured analyzing powers could not be reproduced within the framework of such a simple DWBA calculation.  相似文献

In models in which the weak intermediate bosons are bound states consisting of spin 12 constituents the effective neutral current mixing angle sin2θW is related to the W wave function at the origin. Dynamical constraints for the bound state structure of the W-boson follow. Although the observed value of sin2θW is rather large, it seems possible to obtain the observed value in a dynamical mixing scheme. The weak bosons are extended objects, whose sizes are of the order of 10?16 cm.  相似文献

The microwave spectrum of boron chloride difluoride, BClF2, has been investigated in the region 26.5–40.0 GHz. R-branch transitions belonging to the isotopic species 11B35Cl19F2, 11B37Cl19F2, and 10B35Cl19F2 have been observed and the derived rotational constants yield the following ground-state structural parameters: r0(BF) = 1.315 ± 0.006 A?, rs(BCl) = 1.728 ± 0.009 A?, < FBF = 118.1 ± 0.5°. The ground-state rotational constants of the most abundant species 11B35Cl19F2 are: A0 = 10 449.32 ± 0.13, B0 = 4705.811 ± 0.020, C0 = 3239.702 ± 0.026 MHz, ΔJK = 8.9 ± 1.7, and ΔJ = 1.86 ± 0.48 KHz. The asymmetry parameter κ = ?0.593291 and the inertial defect δ0 = 0.2361 amu Å2 which is consistent with that expected for this type of molecule if planar. The 35Cl quadrupole coupling constants for 11B35Cl19F2 are χaa = ?42.8 ± 1.0, χbb = 30.2 ± 1.5, χcc = 12.6 ± 1.5 MHz with the asymmetry parameter η = 0.41.  相似文献

The (p, pn) reaction on 2H, 6Li, 7Li, 9Be has been studied at 47 MeV bombarding energy. Excitation energy spectra and energy sharing spectra are presented. Fragmentary information on 10B, 11B and 12C was also obtained. Sequential decay contributions to the 6Li(p, pn)5Li1 reaction suggest an admixture of parentage (α)π(p12)π(d52) for the (3?), 23 MeV excited state of 6Be. A possible 15.5 MeV excited state in 6Be is reported. An extensive study of the 9Be (p, pn)8Be reaction for 45 MeV protons was made. Results for θp = θn = 25°, 30°, 35°, 40°, 45°, 55°, 65°; θn = 40°, θp = 25°, 30°, 35°, 40°, 45°, 55°, 65°; θp/θn = 40°/45°, 38.5° are reported and compared to DWIA calculations. Agreement is good when the lower momentum components of the wave function are sampled, and deteriorates as higher momenta are required. Results are in agreement with the Cohen and Kurath spectroscopic factors for 9Be.  相似文献

Differential cross sections for the elastic pd scattering were measured at seven energies between 0.4 and 1.0 MeV for scattering angles from θc.m. = 44.5° to 149.2°. A mixture of D2 and Kr was used as target gas and the pd differential cross sections were determined relative to those of pKr scattering with a statistical error of Δσσ ~5 × 10?3. Analyzing powers for pd scattering were measured at 0.8, 0.9 and 1.0 MeV with a statistical error of ΔAy ~5 × 10?4.  相似文献

Measurements have been performed on production of particles with mass 1.5 GeV/c2 and charge ? 23 for θlab = 62.5° and s = 53 GeV. At pT = 0.7 GeV/c the relative rate of production of antideuterons to π? is (5 ± 1) × 10?5. The deuteron to antideuteron ratio is 3.7 ± 1.2. No new stable particle has been amongst 0.7 × 108 charged particles entering our detector.  相似文献

Angular distributions of six polarization transfer coefficients Kxx′(θ), kxz′(θ), Kzx?(θ), Kzz?(θ), and Kyyy?(θ); of the four analyzing powers Ay(θ), Axx(θ), Ayy(θ), and Azz(θ); and of the polarization function Pý(θ), have been measured atEd = 10.00 MeV for the reaction 2H(d, n)3He. Measurements were made for neutron lab angles between 0° and 80° in 10° steps. Additionally the y-axis associated quantities were measured at θ1ab = 99°. Most of the measured coefficients are large at some angles and all show considerable variation with angle.  相似文献

The crystal field levels of the Er (J = 152) ion in a single crystal of ErSb have been measured by inelastic neutron scattering. The crystal field parameters obtained by a least squares fit to the spectra at several temperatures are: B4 = (0·473 ± 0·005) × 10?2°K and B6 = (0·59 ± 0·06) × 10?5°K, which differ considerably from the values o by interpolation from measurements on other compounds. In addition the temperature dependence of the magnetic scattering in the vicinity of the Néel temperature (TN = 3·55°K) clearly demonstrates that the transition is second order in contrast to the first order behavior suggested by specific heat measurements. Also, any lattice distortion accompanying the magnetic ordering is less than 0.1 per cent, the resolution of the present experiment.  相似文献

Optical absorption spectra have been measured on thin (011) single crystal platelets and on highly oriented (110) thin films of αFe2O3. We have observed and assigned some of the absorption bands predicted by ligand field theory and SCF-Xα calculations. The temperature dependence of the 11760 cm?1 single crystal band has been fitted to the function ? = ?0(1 + exp (? θT)) with ?0 = 0.85 × 10?4 and θ = 200 K (139 cm?1). We have measured the photocurrent as a function of wavelength and have found several peaks that coincide with optical absorption bands.  相似文献

The parameters of the Weinberg-Salam model can be defined by amplitudes at a momentum scale M = O(MW, MZ). We derive the leading logarithmic e.m. correction to the relations giving the neutrino amplitudes at a momentum scale μ ? M in terms of sin2θ(M), α(M), MW and MZ. For leptonic processes, the Fermi constant is not corrected, but a running, universal, sin2θ(μ) > sin2θ(M) should be used. The Fermi constant for semileptonic processes is renormalized by a factor ?(μ) > 1, for charged currents, and is not renormalized, for neutral current processes. The latter are described by the same sin2θ(μ) as the leptonic ones. We estimate that sin2θ(M) is about 0.013 smaller than the value of sin2θ obtained from semileptonic data with no correction, thereby improving the agreement with grand unified theories. The prediction for W (Z) masses and widths in terms of the low energy parameters are discussed. Using previous calculations at order α, we obtain predictions for the masses which are accurate up to and including terms of order (αlnM2)2.  相似文献
