We propose a simple lattice-gas model characterized by two states of atoms, the thermalized state, which is the same as in the standard lattice-gas model, and the running state, where the atoms jump in one direction only. The model exhibits the existence of traffice jams (bunching of thermalized atoms in compact groups), the nonlinear dependence of mobility on the jump probability, and the hysteresis.  相似文献

The paper deals with the influence of light,=403 m, on the absorption of single-crystal plates of AgCl, grown by the capillary method. It was found that crystals with blue luminescence show no maximum in the region measured. For crystals with green luminescence a broad absorption maximum was found at – 590 m, which is partly bleached during further irradiation by light from the region of the absorption maximum. Measurements were preformed at room temperature.

Wavelength distribution in the focus of a Johansson type monochromator is computed assuming the tube focus emissivityG(), reflection curveR() and wavelength distribution of the incident radiationJ(-0) are known. It is shown e.g. that the centre of gravity may be shifted in accordance with the position of the crystal on the focal circle which may considerably influence precision measurements of lattice parameters.

The first part of the paper gives a general equation for triple-crystal arrangement with perfect crystals on the assumption that the third crystal is rotated. It is shown that in the case of perfect crystals the shape of the reflection curve is practically independent of the vertical divergence. The case of mosaic crystals is also solved and the possibility of rotation by other than the third crystal is considered. A method is proposed for investigating the imperfection of a crystal which is different from methods used up to now. The paper is supplemented by some experimental results.

The paper deals with the collective behaviour of electrons which rotate in a magnetic field used in a betatron. It is shown experimentally that there exists strong interaction between the electrons, which leads to the rapid formation of the equilibrium state with characteristic distribution of the charge density in the cross-section of the toroidal beam. The corresponding relaxation time is of the order of 1 sec. A statistical theory of the equilibrium beam is elaborated. Its main result is that the effective radius of the beam is a function of two parameters, one of which is proportional to the thermal energy of the electrons and the other to the perveance of the beam. The charge contained in a toroidal beam of given effective cross-section is equal to the product of the charge the beam would contain at zero temperature and a coefficient, which is a function of the temperature of the beam. Its value is unity at zero temperature and rapidly decreases with increasing temperature. The cause of cooling of the beam is shown.

A method is described for measuring the relative quantum efficiency of the internal photo-electric effect in semi-conductors by simultaneously measuring the photo-magnetoelectric and photo-conductive effect. The results of measurements on indium antimonide are given. The quantum efficiency begins to increase if the energy of the photon exceeds 0·47 eVat room temperature. The quantum efficiency as a function of the energy of the photon is analysed on the basis of the conception of impact ionization and it is shown that a study of the structure of this curve can supply information on the, band structure of a semi-conductor in the region of high energies of electrons and holes.

A note on the theory of the successive production of moving striations in the plasma of inert gases
Approximate expressions are derived on the basis of Pekárek's theoretical paper [1] for the period of the maximum tB of a wave packet produced by the passage of a wave of stratification before the aperture of a photomultiplier, and for its time width in the half-height tB. The relaxation time of a wave of stratification, following from the theory [1], can thus be calculated by means of the experimentally measured velocity of motion of the maximum of a wave packet u and its width tB. The calculation is supplemented by numerical data on the magnitude of errors committed by using approximate expressions.

The characteristic function is introduced, describing completely the monochromating effect of monochromating units. Expressions for this function are presented for monochromating units frequently used. An example of computation for Johansson's unit shows the conditions in a special case. The curves indicating the shift of the wavelength centroid of monochromated radiation for crystals of different perfection allow conclusions to be drawn about the influence of the alignment of the crystal on precision measurements of lattice constants. The experiments verify the suggested model. The computations for a given experimental arrangement permit a simple determination of the effective breadth of the reflection curve, if a distance of two suitably chosen diffraction lines of a polycrystalline specimen is measured. Finally, it was found experimentally that a small elastic bending does not essentially alter the reflection curve of highly elastic and imperfect crystals unless macroscopic distortions are present.

The paper explains the theory of modelling electrostatic fields by a resistance network. The conditions, which the resistance network must satisfy, are derived and the question of modelling electrodes of different shapes is solved. The finished network and the results obtained on it when modelling a jet for a linear h-f accelerator of electrons are described. Particular attention is paid to the influence of a space charge, the modelling of which is an advantage of this method.

A model for the distribution of cations in the spinel lattice of manganese ferrites MnFe2O4+ was elaborated on the basis of the experimental studies of the basic magnetic quantities, electrical conductivity and magnetic relaxation of the given ferrites, taking into consideration their crystallographic properties. The conclusions following from this model are in good agreement with the experimental results obtained by us and by other authors both for stoichiometric manganese ferrite and for a ferrite where 0.

The Feigenbaum phenomenon is studied by analyzing an extended renormalization group map . This map acts on functions that are jointly analytic in a position variable (t) and in the parameter () that controls the period doubling phenomenon. A fixed point * for this map is found. The usual renormalization group doubling operatorN acts on this function * simply by multiplication of with the universal Feigenbaum ratio *= 4.669201..., i.e., (N *(,t)= *( * ,t). Therefore, the one-parameter family of functions, * , * (t)=( *(,t), is invariant underN. In particular, the function 0 * is the Feigenbaum fixed point ofN, while * represents the unstable manifold ofN. The time courses are given of three variations in the intensity of cosmic radiation, which occurred in the first half of 1958. The measuring apparatus is described and the energies of the particles recorded a reestimated. The paper is the partial result of systematic measurements of the intensity of cosmic radiation carried out in Czechoslovakia in the International Geophysical Year.

The local sensitivity of photo-multiplier photo-cathodes
The influence of the non-uniform distribution of the sensitivity of a photo-multiplier photo-cathode on the spectrum shape of the output pulses from a scintillation detector is studied. Methods of scanning the local sensitivity and determining its distribution function are described. The theory was compared qualitatively with measurement on a slow-neutron detector from a mixture of zinc sulphate and boric acid.
