An iron (III) ion selective PVC membrane electrode based on 1,7-dithia 12-crown-4 as a neutral carrier was prepared. Monovalent responses with a Nerstian slope of 56+1 mV/decade was observed for the Fe (III) ion-selective electrode within the concentration range 10?3–10?5 M Fe (NO3)3. The monovalent responses may be attributed to the formation of Fe (OH)2+ or Fe (OH)2(H2O)+4 species in aqueous solutions and the absorption of these ions into the PVC electrode membrane. The electrode exhibited good selectivity for Fe (III) in comparison with various alkali, alkali-earth and some heavy metal ions. The effects of the composition of the membrame, addition of STPB (sodium tetraphenyl borate), the concentration of internal solution of the electrode and anions in the test solutions were discussed.  相似文献

The transfer of oxinate ions from thallium (III)oxinate to trivalent Fe(DMF) 6 3+ in propylenecarbonate takes place via rearrangements within a rapidly formed binuclear thallium(III)—iron(III) complex. In a last rapid step this rearranged complex reacts with excess reactants to the final products whose composition accordingly depends on the ratio of the reactant concentrations.

Equilibrium reactions of iron(III) with phosphate were studied spectrophotometrically by UV-Vis in the pH range of ~ 1.0-2.20. The STAR-94 Program was used to determine the number of absorbing species as well as the stoichiometries and formation constants of the complex species. Some literature values were further confirmed and new values of different stoichiometries were obtained. The kinetics and mechanism of Fe(III) with phosphate were studied in acidic medium. The reactive phosphate species were found to be only H3PO4 and H2PO? 4 and for Fe(III) were only Fe3+, FeOH2+ and Fe(OH)+ 2. The observed rate constants were pH as well as Tphos (total concentration of phosphate) dependent, i.e. Kobs,i = A i + B i Tphos + C i T2 phos (at a given pH).  相似文献

Summary Chromium can be present in aqueous solution as Cr(VI) or in monomeric, dimeric, trimeric and higher polymeric forms of Cr(III). Many monomeric forms of Cr(III) are possible, with the water molecules of Cr(H2O) 6 3+ substituted by anionic or neutral species. This proliferation of Cr(III) species makes the complete speciation of chromium a continuing challenge to the analyst. A simple and effective cation exchange procedure for the separation of various of these species uses a small glass column containing 1 mL of pre-treated cation exchange resin (Na+ form). Stepwise elution with solutions of perchloric acid, Ca2+ (pH=2) and La3+ (pH=2) separates Cr(VI) and seven Cr(III) species from CrX3 to tetramer. Radiometric (Cr-51), spectrophotometric and other detection methods can be employed; the use of radiochromium gives the lowest detection limit.  相似文献

Abstract

Dedicated to Professor Arthur Martell on the occasion of his seventy fifth birthday.

The complexes of In(III) and Ga(III) with a variety of nitrogen donor ligands were studied in aqueous solution by glass electrode potentiometry at 25°C in 0.1 M NaNO3. The ligands were 2-aminomethylpyri-dine (AMPY), ethylenediamine (EN), N,N,N',N'-tetrakis(2-hydroxypropyl)ethylenediamine (THPED), and N,N-bis(2-hydroxyethyl)glycine (BICIN). A variety of mixed ligand complexes of the MLOH type were detected with many of the above ligands as L. The logK1 values obtained were with Ga(III) 8.40 (AMPY), 7.94 (THPED) 12.72 (EN), and In(III) 7.6 (AMPY), 8.20 (THPED), and 7.06 (BICIN). These formation constants are discussed in relation to previous predictions that In(III) and Ga(III) would have a substantial chemistry with nitrogen donor ligands. Of particular interest is the Ga(III) system with EN, where a very stable Ga(EN)3+ complex is formed, but no higher complexes except for hydrolyzed species such as Ga(EN)OH2+ and Ga(EN)(OH)2 +.  相似文献

The photodegradation of atrazine in aqueous solutions containing citrate and Fe(III) was studied under Xe lamp irradiation on a time scale of hours. It was found that the presence of Fe(III)–citrate complex enhanced the photodegradation rate of atrazine as a result of OH attack. Atrazine photodegradation followed first-order reaction kinetics and the rate depended upon pH and light intensity. High citrate concentrations led to increased photodegradation of atrazine due to the fact that citrate not only acted as a carboxylate ligand but also a reductant of Fe(III). The interaction of Fe(III) with citrate was characterized using UV–visible absorption and Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, indicating that the hydrogen ions on the carboxyl groups were exchanged for Fe(III) ions. On the basis of these results, a reaction scheme was proposed in which the cycling of iron and carbon, the depletion of citrate and O2, and the formation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) were involved.  相似文献

An 1H, 13C, and 15N NMR study has been completed for the complexes of La(III), Tm(III), and Yb(III) with nitrate and isothiocyanate in aqueous solvent mixtures. Signals for four complexes are observed for both the Tm3+–NO3 and Yb3+–NO3 solutions, with the species identified as the mono-, di-, tetra-, and either the penta - or hexanitrato. These results are consistent with those determined for the nitrate complexes of the Ce(III)–Eu(III) metal ions. The chemical shifts for the Tm(III) and Yb(III) nitrate complexes indicate a pseudocontact binding mechanism prevails. The complexes of diamagnetic La(III) with NO3 produce three signals in the 15NO3 spectra, with assignments paralleling those observed with the paramagnetic lanthanides. Three complexes are formed in the La3+–NCS solutions, with signals assigned to the mono-, di-, and triisothiocyanato species.  相似文献

An “off-on” rhodamine-based fluorescence probe for the selective signaling of Fe(III) has been designed exploiting the guest-induced structure transform mechanism. This system shows a sharp Fe(III)-selective fluorescence enhancement response in 100% aqueous system under physiological pH value and possesses high selectivity against the background of environmentally and biologically relevant metal ions including Al(III), Cd(II), Fe(II), Co(II), Cu(II), Ni(II), Zn(II), Mg(II), Ba(II), Pb(II), Na(I), and K(I). Under optimum conditions, the fluorescence intensity enhancement of this system is linearly proportional to Fe(III) concentration from 6.0 × 10−8 to 7.2 × 10−6 mol L−1 with a detection limit of 1.4 × 10−8 mol L−1.  相似文献

A new PVC membrane potentiometric sensor that is highly selective to Fe(III) ions was prepared by using 2-[(2-hydroxy-1-propenyl-buta-1,3-dienylimino)-methyl]-4-p-tolylazo-phenol [HPDTP] as a suitable carrier. The electrode exhibits a linear response for iron(III) ions over a wide concentration range (3.5 × 10−6 to 4.0 × 10−2) with a super Nernstian slope of 28.5 (±0.5) per decade. The electrode can be used in the pH range from 4.5 to 6.5. The proposed sensor shows fairly a good discriminating ability towards Fe3+ ion in comparison to some hard and soft metals such as Fe2+, Cd2+, Cu2+, Al3+ and Ca2+. It has a response time of <15 s and can be used for at least 2 months without any measurable divergence in response characteristics. The electrode was used in the direct determination of Fe3+ in aqueous samples and as an indicator electrode in potentiometric titration of Fe(III) ions.  相似文献

A new analytical method was developed for on-line monitoring of residual coagulants (aluminium and iron salts) in potable water. The determination was based on a sequential procedure coupling an extraction/enrichment step of the analytes onto a modified resin and a spectrophotometric measurement of a surfactant-sensitized binary complex formed between eluted analytes and Chrome Azurol S. The optimization of the solid phase extraction was performed using factorial design and a Doehlert matrix considering six variables: sample percolation rate, sample metal concentration, flow-through sample volume (all three directly linked to the extraction step), elution flow rate, concentration and volume of eluent (all three directly linked to the elution step). A specific reagent was elaborated for sensitive and specific spectrophotometric determination of Al(III) and Fe(III), by optimizing surfactant and ligand concentrations and buffer composition. The whole procedure was automated by a multisyringe flow injection analysis (MSFIA) system. Detection limits of 4.9 and 5.6 μg L−1 were obtained for Al(III) and Fe(III) determination , respectively, and the linear calibration graph up to 300 μg L−1 (both for Al(III) and Fe(III)) was well adapted to the monitoring of drinking water quality. The system was successfully applied to the on-site determination of Al(III) and Fe(III) at the outlet of two water treatment units during two periods of the year (winter and summer conditions).  相似文献

The reactions of Al(III), Ga(III) and In(III) nitrates with 2-quinaldic acid (qaH) afforded [Al2(OH)2(qa)4]·2H2O (1), [Ga(qa)2(H2O)2]NO3 (2) and [In(qa)2(NO3)(H2O)] (3), respectively, in high yields. The crystal structures of 1, 2 and 3 have been determined by single-crystal X-ray crystallography. The structure of 1 features a di-hydroxo bridged [Al2(μ-OH)2]4+ dimer in which each Al(III) is further ligated by two bidentate chelate qa? ligands. Complexes 2 and 3 are mononuclear with the M(III) ions in octahedral environments surrounded by two bidentate chelate qa? and two H2O in 2 or one H2O and a terminal NO3? in 3. Characteristic IR as well as thermal analysis and solid-state fluorescence are discussed.  相似文献

To understand the skin sensitization mechanism of 15-hydroperoxyabietic acid, the major allergen in colophony, we first examined the formation of potential reactive radicals derived from its reaction with light, heat and TPP-Fe3+. Trapping with 1,1,3,3-tetramethylisoindolin-2-yloxyl nitroxide confirmed the formation of carbon-centred radicals derived from allyloxyl/allylperoxyl radicals as a consequence of the hydroperoxide scission. Particular interest was further given to the reactivity with Fe(II)/Fe(III) due to the biological importance of haem containing enzymes. Using a monocyclic 15-hydroperoxyabietic acid-like compound as a model of allergenic allylic hydroperoxides, we evidenced, by the ESR spin-trapping technique, the competition between carbon and oxygen-centred radicals formed in the presence of Fe(II)/Fe(III) in organic/aqueous media. We complemented the study by showing the possibility of formation, via a radical mechanism induced by ferric chloride, of an adduct between the allylic hydroperoxide and N-acetyl-cysteine ethyl ester. The results gave new knowledge on the possible generation of highly reactive radicals that could lead to the formation of antigenic structures.  相似文献

The conductance behavior of some tris(ethylenediamine)cobalt(III) complexes was studied in dilute aqueous solutions at 25°C to investigate the ion-pair formation. The thermodynamic formation constants of the ion pairs [Co(en)3]3+·X are 28 (chloride), 28 (bromide), 19 (nitrate), and 15 (perchlorate). These values were compared with theoretical values calculated by using Bjerrum's theory of ion association. The formation constant of [Co(en)3]3+·Cl was larger than that obtained from the spectrophotometric measurement in solutions containing perchlorate ion. This difference in the formation constants was explained by considering the contribution of ion association of the complex cation with perchlorate ion.  相似文献

The synthesis and crystal structures of two novel semicarbazones and four gold(III) compound derivatives of these semicarbazones are presented. A pattern in the formation of the semicarbazones shows the association of Cl ions held together by intra- and intermolecular forces. [AuCl4]? and [AuBr4]? anions are co-crystallised with these semicarbazone ligands, and the packing architectures revealed by a single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis showed the different influences of the anions and the association of these chemical species by intermolecular forces on the crystal packing. Crystal engineering led to gold(III) compounds that are stabilised by relevant hydrogen bonding networks, which demonstrated their importance to the supramolecular organisation of the studied compounds. Interestingly, Cl???Br interactions are observed and contribute to the formation of the supramolecular structures. Elemental analysis data and spectroscopic properties in the solid state and solution are also described.  相似文献

Currently, catalysts with oxidative activity are required to create valuable chemical, agrochemical, and pharmaceutical products. The catechol oxidase activity is a model reaction that can reveal new oxidative catalysts. The use of complexes as catalysts using iron (III) and structurally simple ligands such as pyrazine (pz), quinoxaline (qx), and phenazine (fz) has not been fully explored. To characterize the composition of the solution and identify the abundant species which were used to catalyze the catechol oxidation, the distribution diagrams of these species were obtained by an equilibrium study using a modified Job method in the HypSpec software. This allows to obtain also the UV-vis spectra calculated and the formation constants for the mononuclear and binuclear complexes with Fe3+ including: [Fe(pz)]3+, [Fe2(pz)]6+, [Fe(qx)]3+, [Fe2(qx)]6+, [Fe(fz)]3+, and [Fe2(fz)]6+. The formation constants obtained were log β110 = 3.2 ± 0.1, log β210 = 6.9 ± 0.1, log β110 = 4.4 ± 0.1, log β210 = 8.3 ± 0.1, log β110 = 6.4 ± 0.2, and log β210 = 9.9 ± 0.2, respectively. The determination of the catechol oxidase activity for these complexes did not follow a traditional Michaelis–Menten behavior.  相似文献

The composition and conformation of complexes of aluminium(III) with isoquercitrin (Iso) have been studied in methanol solution. This molecule presents two potential chelating sites in competition. UV–Vis spectroscopy provides evidence of three different species in neutral solution: Al(Iso)2+ Al(Iso)2 + and Al2(Iso)3+. This last one is formed only if a great quantity of Al(III) is presented in the medium. The first site involved in complexation is the 5-hydroxy-4-keto group. FT-Raman spectroscopy has allowed to confirm this mechanism. The stability constants of this complexes have been determined using the program. In acidic condition, only the first complex is obtained. In alkaline medium, Al(Iso)+ and Al(Iso)2 complexes are formed, the catechol group is then the chelating site involved in these species To propose a molecular conformation for the free isoquercitrin and its complexes in neutral medium, both semiempirical molecular orbital and DFT calculations have been performed. It has been showed that the participation of cynnamoyl and benzoyle mesomeric forms stabilise the structure of Al(Iso)2+. The structural models have been validated by the good agreement between theoretical and experimental electronic spectra.  相似文献

This review focuses on the ability of some natural antioxidant molecules (i.e., hydroxycinnamic acids, coumarin-3-carboxylic acid, quercetin, luteolin and curcumin) to form Al(III)- and Fe(III)-complexes with the aim of evaluating the coordination properties from a combined experimental and theoretical point of view. Despite the contributions of previous studies on the chemical properties and biological activity of these metal complexes involving such natural antioxidants, further detailed relationships between the structure and properties are still required. In this context, the investigation on the coordination properties of Al(III) and Fe(III) toward these natural antioxidant molecules might deserve high interest to design water soluble molecule-based metal carriers that can improve the metal’s intake and/or its removal in living organisms.  相似文献

Spectroscopy has been used to determine the number of coordinated water molecules bound to Eu(III) and Cm(III) in a series of binary complexes of polyaminocarboxylate and their ternary complexes with dicarboxylates as well as with similar ligands with additional O-, N-, and S-donors. Complexes of Eu(III) and Cm(III) with polyaminocarboxylate alone contain ca. 2.5–3.0 waters of hydration. Increasing the steric requirement of a polyaminocarboxylate by increasing the number of groups in the ligand backbone does not appreciably change the hydration of these cations. The stability constants of the binary and ternary complexes of Cm(III), Am(III), and Eu(III) with these ligands were measured by solvent extraction in a solution of 0.1 M (NaClO4). The size, basicity, specific M3+-second ligand interactions, and steric requirement of the ligands are the factors which affect the ternary complexation. Knowledge of the chemical species formed by actinide cations with organic ligands (carboxylates and aminocarboxylates), which are present in all nuclear waste, is important to understand the behavior of waste forms and the migration behavior of actinides in the environment.  相似文献

Raman spectroscopy using a hot stage indicates that the intercalation of hexacyanoferrate(II) and (III) in the interlayer space of a Mg, Al hydrotalcites leads to layered solids where the intercalated species is both hexacyanoferrate(II) and (III). Raman spectroscopy shows that depending on the oxidation state of the initial hexacyanoferrate partial oxidation and reduction takes place upon intercalation. For the hexacyanoferrate(III) some partial reduction occurs during synthesis. The symmetry of the hexacyanoferrate decreases from Oh existing for the free anions to D3d in the hexacyanoferrate interlayered hydrotalcite complexes. Hot stage Raman spectroscopy reveals the oxidation of the hexacyanoferrate(II) to hexacyanoferrate(III) in the hydrotalcite interlayer with the removal of the cyanide anions above 250 °C. Thermal treatment causes the loss of CN ions through the observation of a band at 2080 cm−1. The hexacyanoferrate (III) interlayered Mg, Al hydrotalcites decomposes above 150 °C.  相似文献

Two polydentade Schiff base ligands and their Ru(III), Cr(III) and Fe(III) complexes were synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis (C, H, N), UV/Vis, FT IR, 1H and 13C NMR, LC–MS/MS, molar conductivity and magnetic susceptibility techniques. The absorption bands in the electronic spectra and magnetic moment measurements verified an octahedral environment around the metal ions in the complexes. The thermal stabilities were investigated using TGA. The synthesized complexes were used in the catalytic oxidation of 2-methyl naphthalene (2MN) to 2-methyl-1,4-naphthoquinone; vitamin K3, menadione, 2MNQ; using hydrogen peroxide, acetic acid and sulfuric acid. L1-Fe(III) complex showed very efficient catalytic activity with 58.54% selectivity in the conversions of 79.11%.  相似文献
