We implement a schizophrenic scenario for the active neutrinos in a model in which there are also exotic right-handed neutrinos making a model with a local U(1)BLU(1)BL anomaly free. Two of right-handed neutrinos carry B−L=−4BL=4 while the third one carries B−L=5BL=5. Unlike the non-exotic version of the model, in which all right-handed neutrinos carry the same B−L=−1BL=1 charge, in this case the neutrinos have their own scalar sector and no hierarchy in the Yukawa coupling in the Dirac mass term is necessary.  相似文献

We study the neutrino mass hierarchy at the magnetized Iron CALorimeter (ICAL) detector at India-based Neutrino Observatory with atmospheric neutrino events generated by the Monte Carlo event generator Nuance. We judicially choose the observables so that the possible systematic uncertainties can be reduced. The resolution as a function of both energy and zenith angle simultaneously is obtained for neutrinos and anti-neutrinos separately from thousand years un-oscillated atmospheric neutrino events at ICAL to migrate number of events from neutrino energy and zenith angle bins to muon energy and zenith angle bins. The resonance ranges in terms of directly measurable quantities like muon energy and zenith angle are found using this resolution function at different input values of θ13θ13. Then, the marginalized χ2sχ2s are studied for different input values of θ13θ13 with its resonance ranges taking input data in muon energy and zenith angle bins. Finally, we find that the mass hierarchy can be explored up to a lower value of θ13≈5°θ135° with confidence level >95% in this set up.  相似文献

We study non-standard interactions (NSIs) at reactor neutrino experiments, and in particular, the mimicking effects on θ13θ13. We present generic formulas for oscillation probabilities including NSIs from sources and detectors. Instructive mappings between the fundamental leptonic mixing parameters and the effective leptonic mixing parameters are established. In addition, NSI corrections to the mixing angles θ13θ13 and θ12θ12 are discussed in detailed. Finally, we show that, even for a vanishing θ13θ13, an oscillation phenomenon may still be observed in future short baseline reactor neutrino experiments, such as Double Chooz and Daya Bay, due to the existences of NSIs.  相似文献

We calculate finite   quantum corrections to the tribimaximal neutrino mixing pattern VTBVTB in three generic classes of neutrino mass models. We show that three flavor mixing angles can all depart from their tree-level results described by VTBVTB, among which θ12θ12 is most sensitive to such quantum effects, and the Dirac CP-violating phase can radiatively arise from two Majorana CP-violating phases. This theoretical scheme offers a new way to understand why θ13θ13 is naturally small and how three CP-violating phases are presumably correlated.  相似文献

We present new axially symmetric half-monopole configuration of the SU(2)×U(1) Weinberg–Salam model of electromagnetic and weak interactions. The half-monopole configuration possesses net magnetic charge 2π/e2π/e which is half the magnetic charge of a Cho–Maison monopole. The electromagnetic gauge potential is singular along the negative zz-axis. However the total energy is finite and increases only logarithmically with increasing Higgs field self-coupling constant λ1/2λ1/2 at sin2θW=0.2312sin2θW=0.2312. In the U(1) magnetic field, the half-monopole is just a one dimensional finite length line magnetic charge extending from the origin r=0r=0 and lying along the negative zz-axis. In the SU(2) ’t Hooft magnetic field, it is a point magnetic charge located at r=0r=0. The half-monopole possesses magnetic dipole moment that decreases exponentially fast with increasing Higgs field self-coupling constant λ1/2λ1/2 at sin2θW=0.2312sin2θW=0.2312.  相似文献

We have studied the anisotropic two-dimensional nearest-neighbor Ising model with competitive interactions in both uniform longitudinal field HH and transverse magnetic field ΩΩ. Using the effective-field theory (EFT) with correlation in cluster with N=1N=1 spin we calculate the thermodynamic properties as a function of temperature with values HH and ΩΩ fixed. The model consists of ferromagnetic interaction JxJx in the xx direction and antiferromagnetic interaction JyJy in the yy direction, and it is found that for H/Jy∈[0,2]H/Jy[0,2] the system exhibits a second-order phase transition. The thermodynamic properties are obtained for the particular case of λ=Jx/Jy=1λ=Jx/Jy=1 (isotropic square lattice).  相似文献

We explore the signals of a charged Higgs arising in a two Higgs doublet model respecting SUL(2)×U(1)×Z2SU(2)L×U(1)×Z2 symmetry with three singlet right-handed neutrinos, NRNR. The charged Higgs in this model has negligible coupling with quarks, and has unsuppressed coupling to leptons and neutrinos. This leads to novel signatures of the charged Higgs at the LHC, especially in the case of an inverted neutrino mass hierarchy, in the form of electrons and muons with missing energy.  相似文献

We demonstrate the emergence of non-Abelian fusion rules for excitations of a two dimensional lattice model built out of Abelian degrees of freedom. It can be considered as an extension of the usual toric code model on a two dimensional lattice augmented with matter fields. It consists of the usual C(Zp)C(Zp) gauge degrees of freedom living on the links together with matter degrees of freedom living on the vertices. The matter part is described by a nn dimensional vector space which we call HnHn. The ZpZp gauge particles act on the vertex particles and thus HnHn can be thought of as a C(Zp)C(Zp) module. An exactly solvable model is built with operators acting in this Hilbert space. The vertex excitations for this model are studied and shown to obey non-Abelian fusion rules. We will show this for specific values of nn and pp, though we believe this feature holds for all n>pn>p. We will see that non-Abelian anyons of the quantum double of C(S3)C(S3) are obtained as part of the vertex excitations of the model with n=6n=6 and p=3p=3. Ising anyons are obtained in the model with n=4n=4 and p=2p=2. The n=3n=3 and p=2p=2 case is also worked out as this is the simplest model exhibiting non-Abelian fusion rules. Another common feature shared by these models is that the ground states have a higher symmetry than ZpZp. This makes them possible candidates for realizing quantum computation.  相似文献

We analyse the phase diagram of a quantum mean spherical model in terms of the temperature TT, a quantum parameter gg, and the ratio p=−J2/J1p=J2/J1, where J1>0J1>0 refers to ferromagnetic interactions between first-neighbour sites along the dd directions of a hypercubic lattice, and J2<0J2<0 is associated with competing antiferromagnetic interactions between second neighbours along m≤dmd directions. We regain a number of known results for the classical version of this model, including the topology of the critical line in the g=0g=0 space, with a Lifshitz point at p=1/4p=1/4, for d>2d>2, and closed-form expressions for the decay of the pair correlations in one dimension. In the T=0T=0 phase diagram, there is a critical border, gc=gc(p)gc=gc(p) for d≥2d2, with a singularity at the Lifshitz point if d<(m+4)/2d<(m+4)/2. We also establish upper and lower critical dimensions, and analyse the quantum critical behavior in the neighborhood of p=1/4p=1/4.  相似文献

I examine the role of entropy in the transition from incoherence to phase synchronisation in the Kuramoto model of NN coupled phase oscillators on a general undirected network. In a Hamiltonian ‘action-angle’ formulation, auxiliary variables JiJi combine with the phases θiθi to determine a conserved system with a 2N2N dimensional phase space. In the vicinity of the fixed point for phase synchronisation, θi≈θjθiθj, which is known to be stable, the auxiliary variables JiJi exhibit instability  . This manifests Liouville’s Theorem in the phase synchronised regime in that contraction in the θiθi parts of phase space are compensated for by expansion in the auxiliary dimensions. I formulate an entropy rate based on the projection of the JiJi onto eigenvectors of the graph Laplacian that satisfies Pesin’s Theorem. This leads to the insight that the evolution to phase synchronisation of the Kuramoto model is equivalent to the approach to a state of monotonically increasing entropy. Indeed, for unequal intrinsic frequencies on the nodes, the networks that achieve the closest to exact phase synchronisation are those which enjoy the highest entropy production. I compare numerical results for a range of networks.  相似文献

Lack of any information on the CP violating phase δCPδCP weakens our ability to determine neutrino mass hierarchy. Magic baseline of 7500 km was proposed to overcome this problem. However, to obtain large enough fluxes, at this very long baseline, one needs new techniques of generating high intensity neutrino beams. In this Letter, we highlight the magical properties of a 2540 km baseline. At such a baseline, using a narrow band neutrino superbeam whose no oscillation event rate peaks around the energy 3.5 GeV, we can determine neutrino mass hierarchy independently of the CP phase. For sin213?0.05sin22θ13?0.05, a very modest exposure of 10 Kiloton-years is sufficient to determine the hierarchy. For 0.02?sin213?0.050.02?sin22θ13?0.05, an exposure of about 100 Kiloton-years is needed.  相似文献

We propose a new mechanism for leptogenesis, which is naturally realized in models with a flavor symmetry based on the discrete group A4A4, where the symmetry breaking parameter also controls the Majorana masses for the heavy right-handed (RH) neutrinos. During the early universe, for T?TeVT?TeV, part of the symmetry is restored, due to finite temperature contributions, and the RH neutrinos remain massless and can be produced in thermal equilibrium even at temperatures well below the most conservative gravitino bounds. Below this temperature the phase transition occurs and they become massive, decaying out of equilibrium and producing the necessary lepton asymmetry. Unless the symmetry is broken explicitly by Planck-suppressed terms, the domain walls generated by the symmetry breaking survive till the quark–hadron phase transition, where they disappear due to a small energy splitting between the A4A4 vacua caused by the QCD anomaly.  相似文献
