The CCSD(T) interaction energies for the H‐bonded and stacked structures of the uracil dimer are determined at the aug‐cc‐pVDZ and aug‐cc‐pVTZ levels. On the basis of these calculations we can construct the CCSD(T) interaction energies at the complete basis set (CBS) limit. The most accurate energies, based either on direct extrapolation of the CCSD(T) correlation energies obtained with the aug‐cc‐pVDZ and aug‐cc‐pVTZ basis sets or on the sum of extrapolated MP2 interaction energies (from aug‐cc‐pVTZ and aug‐cc‐pVQZ basis sets) and extrapolated ΔCCSD(T) correction terms [difference between CCSD(T) and MP2 interaction energies] differ only slightly, which demonstrates the reliability and robustness of both techniques. The latter values, which represent new standards for the H‐bonding and stacking structures of the uracil dimer, differ from the previously published data for the S22 set by a small amount. This suggests that interaction energies of the S22 set are generated with chemical accuracy. The most accurate CCSD(T)/CBS interaction energies are compared with interaction energies obtained from various computational procedures, namely the SCS–MP2 (SCS: spin‐component‐scaled), SCS(MI)–MP2 (MI: molecular interaction), MP3, dispersion‐augmented DFT (DFT–D), M06–2X, and DFT–SAPT (SAPT: symmetry‐adapted perturbation theory) methods. Among these techniques, the best results are obtained with the SCS(MI)–MP2 method. Remarkably good binding energies are also obtained with the DFT–SAPT method. Both DFT techniques tested yield similarly good interaction energies. The large magnitude of the stacking energy for the uracil dimer, compared to that of the benzene dimer, is explained by attractive electrostatic interactions present in the stacked uracil dimer. These interactions force both subsystems to approach each other and the dispersion energy benefits from a shorter intersystem separation.  相似文献

In order to obtain efficient basis sets for the evaluation of van der Waals complex intermolecular potentials, we carry out systematic basis set studies. For this, interaction energies at representative geometries on the potential energy surfaces are evaluated using the CCSD(T) correlation method and large polarized LPol‐n and augmented polarization‐consistent aug‐pc‐2 basis sets extended with different sets of midbond functions. On the basis of the root mean square errors calculated with respect to the values for the most accurate potentials available, basis sets are selected for fitting the corresponding interaction energies and getting analytical potentials. In this work, we study the Ne–N2 van der Waals complex and after the above procedure, the aug‐pc‐2–3321 and the LPol‐ds‐33221 basis set results are fitted. The obtained potentials are characterized by T‐shaped global minima at distances between the Ne atom and the N2 center of mass of 3.39 Å, with interaction energies of ?49.36 cm?1 for the aug‐pc‐2–3321 surface and ?50.28 cm?1 for the LPol‐ds‐33221 surface. Both sets of results are in excellent agreement with the reference surface. To check the potentials further microwave transition frequencies are calculated that agree well with the experimental and the aV5Z‐33221 values. The success of this study suggests that it is feasible to carry out similar accurate calculations of interaction energies and ro‐vibrational spectra at reduced cost for larger complexes than has been possible hitherto. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

The basis set convergence of explicitly correlated double-hybrid density functional theory (DFT) is investigated using the B2GP-PLYP functional. As reference values, we use basis set limit B2GP-PLYP-F12 reaction energies extrapolated from the aug(')-cc-pV(Q+d)Z and aug(')-cc-pV(5+d)Z basis sets. Explicitly correlated double-hybrid DFT calculations converge significantly faster to the basis set limit than conventional calculations done with basis sets saturated up to the same angular momentum (typically, one "gains" one angular momentum in the explicitly correlated calculations). In explicitly correlated F12 calculations the VnZ-F12 basis sets converge faster than the orbital A(')VnZ basis sets. Furthermore, basis set convergence of the MP2-F12 component is apparently faster than that of the underlying Kohn-Sham calculation. Therefore, the most cost-effective approach consists of combining the MP2-F12 correlation energy from a comparatively small basis set such as VDZ-F12 with a DFT energy from a larger basis set such as aug(')-cc-pV(T+d)Z.  相似文献

Auxiliary basis sets (ABS) specifically matched to the cc‐pwCVnZ‐PP and aug‐cc‐pwCVnZ‐PP orbital basis sets (OBS) have been developed and optimized for the 4d elements Y‐Pd at the second‐order Møller‐Plesset perturbation theory level. Calculation of the core‐valence electron correlation energies for small to medium sized transition metal complexes demonstrates that the error due to the use of these new sets in density fitting is three to four orders of magnitude smaller than that due to the OBS incompleteness, and hence is considered negligible. Utilizing the ABSs in the resolution‐of‐the‐identity component of explicitly correlated calculations is also investigated, where it is shown that i‐type functions are important to produce well‐controlled errors in both integrals and correlation energy. Benchmarking at the explicitly correlated coupled cluster with single, double, and perturbative triple excitations level indicates impressive convergence with respect to basis set size for the spectroscopic constants of 4d monofluorides; explicitly correlated double‐ζ calculations produce results close to conventional quadruple‐ζ, and triple‐ζ is within chemical accuracy of the complete basis set limit. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

The present study examines the feasibility of combining the correlation‐consistent basis sets developed by Dunning and coworkers with the hybrid Hartree–Fock/density functional method B3LYP. Furthermore, extrapolation to the complete basis set (CBS) limit minimizes errors due to the presence of an incomplete basis set and can act as a rigorous test of the limitations of the B3LYP method. Equilibrium geometries, energies, and harmonic vibrational frequencies were determined for a series of well‐studied, yet computationally challenging, small inorganics and their respective ions. The results were then extrapolated to the CBS limit, where applicable, and compared to experiment. It was found that a union between the hybrid Hartree–Fock/density functional B3LYP method and Dunning's augmented correlation‐consistent basis sets gave results that were comparable to molecular orbital methods that explicitly account for electron correlation. Furthermore, the minimum basis set necessary to attain reasonable results for the systems studied was aug‐cc‐pVTZ. Upgrading to the aug‐cc‐pVQZ level and subsequent extrapolation to the CBS limit further improved the overall agreement with the experiment. ©1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Full configuration interaction calculations are performed for He2 using various orbital basis sets of the aug‐cc‐pVXZ type, with the correlation energies being extrapolated to the complete basis set (CBS) limit. A two‐point CBS extrapolation formula has been utilized for such a purpose. It is shown that the extrapolation formula with the offset parameter k(R) optimized for the equilibrium distance is not uniformly applicable to He He distances in the very short region of the potential energy curve. The offset parameter k(R) in the repulsive region of the potential energy curve can be largely different with the one in the long‐range distances especially in the cases of basis‐sets with large cardinality number. It is also noticed that the accuracy of this extrapolation scheme may not be improved with the increasing of the cardinality number.  相似文献

Fourth-order M?ller–Plesset (MP4) correlation energies are computed for 28 atoms and simple molecules employing Dunning's correlation-consistent polarized-valence m-zeta basis sets for m=2, 3, 4, and 5. Extrapolation formulas are used to predict MP4 energies for infinitely large basis sets. It is shown that both total and partial MP4 correlation energies can be extrapolated to limit values and that the sum of extrapolated partial MP4 energies equals the extrapolated total MP4 correlation energy within calculational accuracy. Therefore, partial MP4 correlation energies can be presented in the form of an MP4 spectrum reflecting the relative importance of different correlation effects. Typical trends in calculated correlation effects for a given class of electron systems are independent of the basis set used. As first found by Cremer and He [(1996) J Phys Chem 100:6173], one can use MP4 spectra to distinguish between electron systems with well-separated electron pairs and systems for which electrons cluster in a confined region of atomic or molecular space. MP4 spectra for increasing size of the basis set reveal that smaller basis set calculations underestimate the importance of three-electron correlation effects for both classes by overestimating the importance of pair correlation effects. The minimum size of a basis set required for reliable MP4 calculations is given by a valence triple-zeta polarized basis, which even in the case of anions performs better than a valence double-zeta basis augmented by diffuse functions. The intrapair and interpair correlation energies of F-, HF and H2F^ systems are calculated and analyzed using MP2-OPT2 method of MELD program with cc-PVSZ^* basis set. From the analysis of pair correlation energies of these isoelectronlc sysoterns, it is found that the 1sF^2 pair correlation energy is trans-ferable in these three isociectronic systems. According to the definition of pair correlation contribution of one electron pair to a system, the pair correlation contribution values of these three systems are calculated. The correlation contribution values of inner electron pairs and H—F bonding electron pair in HF molecule with those in H2F^ system are compared. The results indicate that the bonding effect of a molecule is one of the im-portant factors to influence electron correlation energy of the system. The comparison of correlation energy contributions in-cluding triple and quadruple excitations with those only includ-ing singles and doubles calculated with 6-311 G(d) basis set shows that the higher.excitation correlation energy contribution gives more than 2 % of the total correlation energy for these sys-tems.  相似文献

We investigate singlet fission (SF) in heterodimers comprising a pentacene unit covalently bonded to another acene as we systematically vary the singlet and triplet pair energies. We find that these energies control the SF process, where dimers undergo SF provided that the resulting triplet pair energy is similar or lower in energy than the singlet state. In these systems the singlet energy is determined by the lower‐energy chromophore, and the rate of SF is found to be relatively independent of the driving force. However, triplet pair recombination in these heterodimers follows the energy gap law. The ability to tune the energies of these materials provides a key strategy to study and design new SF materials—an important process for third‐generation photovoltaics.  相似文献

The hydrogen‐bond energies of water dimer and water‐formaldehyde complexes have been studied using density functional theory (DFT). Basis sets up to aug‐cc‐pVXZ (X=D, T, Q) were used. It was found that counterpoise corrected binding energies using the aug‐cc‐pVDZ basis set are very close to those predicted with the aug‐cc‐pVQZ set. Comparative studies using various DFT functionals on these two systems show that results from B3LYP, mPW1PW91 and PW91PW91 functionals are in better agreements with those predicted using high‐level ab initio methods. These functionals were applied to the study of hydrogen bonding between guanine (G) and cytosine (C), and between adenine (A) and thy mine (T) base pairs. With the aug‐cc‐pVDZ basis set, the predicted binding energies of base pairs are in good agreement with the most elaborate ab initio results.  相似文献

The title technique was applied to a series of elementary chemical reactions. Second and third order contributions to the correlation energy were computed for the basis sets of the double zeta and double zeta plus polarization quality. Calculated heats of reaction and energies of activation were compared with the experimental data and the results of the bestab initio calculations reported in the literature.  相似文献

In this paper, the ground and excited states of N2O2 were studied at the multireference configuration interaction (MRCI) level of theory with Dunning's [J. Chem. Phys. 90, 1007 (1985); 96, 6796 (1992)] correlation consistent basis sets augo-cc-pVDZ and aug-cc-pVTZ. The geometry optimizations were performed for the ground state of N2O2. The vertical excitation energies and transition moments were calculated for the low-lying singlet states of N2O2 including the lowest three 1A1 states, two 1B1 states, one 1B2 state, and two 1A2 states at the MRCI level of theory with Dunning's correlation consistent basis sets aug-cc-pVDZ, aug-cc-pVTZ, and aug-cc-pVQZ. Furthermore, for the first time, the potential energy curves were calculated at the complete active space self-consistent-field and MRCI levels of theory for as many as 12 N2O2 singlet electronic states along the N-N distance. The dissociation asymptotes of these 12 N2O2 singlet electronic states were discussed.  相似文献

Structure and properties of complexes (energies and charge transfer) of complexes BrF‐HX (X = F, Cl, Br, I) have been investigated at the MP2/aug‐cc‐pVDZ (aug‐cc‐pVDZ‐pp basis sets for I) level. Two types of geometries (hydrogen‐bonded and halogen‐bonded) are observed. The calculated interaction energies show that the halogen bonded structures are more stable than the corresponding hydrogen‐bonded structures. To study the nature of the intermolecular interactions, symmetry‐adapted perturbation theory (SAPT) energy decomposition analysis reveals that the BrF‐HX complexes are dominantly electrostatic in nature. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The intermolecular potential energy surface (PES) of argon with ethane has been studied by ab initio calculations at the levels of second‐order Møller–Plesset perturbation (MP2) theory and coupled‐cluster theory with single, double, and noniterative triple configurations (CCSD(T)) using a series of augmented correlation‐consistent basis sets. Two sets of bond functions, bf1 (3s3p2d) and bf2 (6s6p4d2f), have been added to the basis sets to show a dramatic and systematic improvement in the convergence of the entire PES. The PES of Ar–ethane is characterized by a global minimum at a near T‐shaped configuration with a well depth of 0.611 kcal mol?1, a second minimum at a collinear configuration with a well depth of 0.456 kcal mol?1, and a saddle point connecting the two minima. It is shown that an augmented correlation‐consistent basis set with a set of bond functions, either bf1 or bf2, can effectively produce results equivalent to the next larger augmented correlation‐consistent basis set, that is, aug‐cc‐pVDZ‐bf1 ≈ aug‐cc‐pVTZ, aug‐cc‐pVTZ‐bf1 ≈ aug‐cc‐pVQZ. Very importantly, the use of bond functions improves the PES globally, resulting accurate potential anisotropy. Finally, MP2 method is inadequate for accurate calculations, because it gives a potentially overestimated well depth and, more seriously, a poor potential anisotropy. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

Geometries and energies of the triplet and singlet states of 2-furanylnitrene and 3-furanylnitrene have been calculated by using spin-flip coupled-cluster methods. Calculations with triple-ζ basis sets predict a singlet-triplet splitting of 10.9 kcal/mol for 2-furanylnitrene, 4.5 kcal/mol smaller than that in phenylnitrene. In contrast, the singlet-triplet splitting in 3-furanylnitrene is computed to be 1.9 kcal/mol larger than that in phenylnitrene. The differences in the singlet-triplet splittings for the furanylnitrenes are attributed to the differences in the radical stabilizing abilities of the 2-furanyl- and 3-furanyl-groups compared to a phenyl ring. Comparison of the singlet-triplet splittings of more than 20 substituted aromatic nitrenes and the radical stabilizing ability of the aromatic systems reveals a high degree of correlation between the singlet-triplet splitting and the radical stabilizing ability, indicating that singlet states of aromatic nitrenes are preferentially stabilized by radical stabilizing substituents. The preferential stabilization of the singlet states is attributed to the decrease in electron pair repulsion resulting from increased delocalization of the radical electron.  相似文献

It has been suggested that the computational cost of correlated ab initio calculations could be reduced efficiently by using truncated basis sets on hydrogen atoms (Mintz et al., J Chem Phys 2004, 121, 5629). We now explore this proposal in the context of conformational analysis of small molecules, such as hydrogen peroxide, dimethyl ether, ethyl methyl ether, formic acid, methyl formate, and several small alcohols. It is found that truncated correlation consistent basis sets that lack certain higher angular momentum functions on hydrogen atoms offer accuracy similar to traditional Dunning's basis sets for conformational analysis. Combination of such basis sets with the basis set extrapolation technique to estimate Hartree-Fock and M?ller-Plesset second order energies provides composite extrapolation model chemistries that are significantly more accurate and faster than analogous single point calculations with traditional correlation consistent basis sets. Root mean square errors of best composite extrapolation model chemistries on the used set of molecules are within 0.03 kcal/mol of traditional focal point conformational energies. The applicability of composite extrapolation methods is illustrated by performing conformational analysis of tert-butanol and cyclohexanol. For comparison, conformational energies calculated with popular molecular mechanics force fields are also given.  相似文献

This work characterizes eight stationary points of the P2 dimer and six stationary points of the PCCP dimer, including a newly identified minimum on both potential energy surfaces. Full geometry optimizations and corresponding harmonic vibrational frequencies were computed with the second‐order Møller–Plesset (MP2) electronic structure method and six different basis sets: aug‐cc‐pVXZ, aug‐cc‐pV(X+d)Z, and aug‐cc‐pCVXZ where X = T, Q. A new L‐shaped structure with C2 symmetry is the only minimum for the P2 dimer at the MP2 level of theory with these basis sets. The previously reported parallel‐slipped structure with C2h symmetry and a newly identified cross configuration with D2 symmetry are the only minima for the PCCP dimer. Single point energies were also computed using the canonical MP2 and CCSD(T) methods as well as the explicitly correlated MP2‐F12 and CCSD(T)‐F12 methods and the aug‐cc‐pVXZ (X = D, T, Q, 5) basis sets. The energetics obtained with the explicitly correlated methods were very similar to the canonical results for the larger basis sets. Extrapolations were performed to estimate the complete basis set (CBS) limit MP2 and CCSD(T) binding energies. MP2 and MP2‐F12 significantly overbind the P2 and PCCP dimers relative to the CCSD(T) and CCSD(T)‐F12 binding energies by as much as 1.5 kcal mol?1 for the former and 5.0 kcal mol?1 for the latter at the CBS limit. The dominant attractive component of the interaction energy for each dimer configuration was dispersion according to several symmetry‐adapted perturbation theory analyses. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

Basis set effects on the DSD‐PBEP86‐NL and DOD‐PBEP86‐NL functionals for noncovalent interactions have been extensively studied in this work. The cc‐pVXZ (X = D, T, Q, 5, 6) and augmented aug‐cc‐pVXZ (X = D, T, Q) basis sets are systematically tested without counterpoise (CP) corrections against the well‐known S66 database. Additionally, the basis sets of def2‐TZVPP and def2‐TZVPPD are also examined. Based on our computations, the performances of the aug‐cc‐pVQZ, cc‐pV5Z, and cc‐pV6Z basis sets are very approximate to those obtained with the def2‐QZVP basis set for both the DSD‐PBEP86‐NL and DOD‐PBEP86‐NL functionals. Note that the short‐range attenuation parameters for these two functionals were directly optimized using the def2‐QZVP basis set without CP corrections against the S66 database. Generally speaking, the cc‐pVXZ (X = D, T, Q), aug‐cc‐pVXZ (X = D, T, Q), def2‐TZVPP, and def2‐TZVPPD basis sets favor half CP correction for these two functionals. Nevertheless, the aug‐cc‐pVQZ basis set already performs well without any CP correction, especially for the DOD‐PBEP86‐NL functional. With respect to accuracy and computational cost, the cc‐pVTZ and def2‐TZVPP basis sets with half CP corrections are recommended for these two functionals to evaluate interaction energies of large noncovalent complexes.  相似文献

Hartree–Fock and density functional theory with the hybrid B3LYP and general gradient KT2 exchange‐correlation functionals were used for nonrelativistic and relativistic nuclear magnetic shielding calculations of helium, neon, argon, krypton, and xenon dimers and free atoms. Relativistic corrections were calculated with the scalar and spin‐orbit zeroth‐order regular approximation Hamiltonian in combination with the large Slater‐type basis set QZ4P as well as with the four‐component Dirac–Coulomb Hamiltonian using Dyall's acv4z basis sets. The relativistic corrections to the nuclear magnetic shieldings and chemical shifts are combined with nonrelativistic coupled cluster singles and doubles with noniterative triple excitations [CCSD(T)] calculations using the very large polarization‐consistent basis sets aug‐pcSseg‐4 for He, Ne and Ar, aug‐pcSseg‐3 for Kr, and the AQZP basis set for Xe. For the dimers also, zero‐point vibrational (ZPV) corrections are obtained at the CCSD(T) level with the same basis sets were added. Best estimates of the dimer chemical shifts are generated from these nuclear magnetic shieldings and the relative importance of electron correlation, ZPV, and relativistic corrections for the shieldings and chemical shifts is analyzed. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献
