Non-reciprocal rib waveguide structures can be used to realize integrated optical isolators. In this paper, we propose a concrete design for a Mach–Zehnder interferometer type isolator for TM modes. Just one of the arms, which are of equal length, is a non-reciprocal magneto-optic waveguide. The rest of the interferometer is reciprocal. Required fabrication tolerances are estimated, and the entire isolator is simulated by applying a finite difference beam propagation method.  相似文献

Optical parametric interaction in isotropic third-order nonlinear media with magneto-optic properties is investigated. It is shown that new phase-matching conditions with a magneto-optic contribution are possible. In particular, we study four-wave mixing and electric field-induced three-wave parametric processes in the presence of a magnetic field applied along the direction of propagation of the interacting waves. Control of the new phase-matching branches can be achieved by tuning of the magnetic field.  相似文献

The two well-known magneto-optic phenomena: the Faraday and Cotton-Mouton effects describe behavior of optically isotropic medium in the external magnetic field which is parallel or perpendicular to the wave propagation direction, respectively. In this paper a superposition rule for both magneto-optic effects as a generalization of Faraday and Cotton-Mouton effects for any orientation of external magnetic field with regard to the wave propagation direction is presented.  相似文献

An interferometric optical isolator, with a Si guiding layer, employing a nonreciprocal phase shift was studied. The optical isolator was comprised of a magneto-optic waveguide with a magnetic garnet/Si/SiO2 structure, which was fabricated by wafer bonding technique. The nonreciprocal phase shift in the magneto-optic waveguide with the Si guiding layer was calculated at a wavelength of 1.55 μm. Several kinds of layer structures in the magneto-optic waveguide were discussed.  相似文献

We investigate a structure consisting of a magneto-optic multimode waveguide and two monomode waveguides serving as in- and outlets. The geometrical dimensions of the multimode waveguide can be adjusted such that the guided modes interfere constructively in forward direction and destructively for backward propagation. In this paper we present concepts for a circulator and two isolators based on multimode imaging.  相似文献

针对磁光晶体在大功率光隔离器中的应用,结合实际光学元件参数,利用琼斯矩阵分析了隔离度与入射光功率间的关系。提出基于外置材料,对磁光晶体热致退偏效应的补偿方案:针对两种不同的常见补偿材料,给出了它们的设计参数,并对两种材料的补偿效果进行对比。结果表明,在50 W的光功率下,利用CaF2晶体和SiO2,可分别提高隔离度约15dB和4dB。  相似文献

基于Halbach阵列永磁体的特点以及光隔离器对磁场的需求,设计了两种适用于高功率隔离器的永磁系统,分析了其磁场分布、磁场非均匀性对隔离度的影响,研究了磁体装配误差对磁场的影响。研究结果表明:通过引入斜向磁化永磁体,选择合适的磁化角度和磁体长度,可以提高永磁体的磁场强度,大幅度减小旋转器所需磁光晶体长度;受磁场非均匀性影响的隔离度与磁光晶体的孔径、长度以及入射激光的光斑半径有关,当晶体长度一定时,减小晶体半径和入射光的半径可以显著提高隔离度。在入射光半径为1.5mm、磁光晶体半径5mm时,对应的隔离度分别为105.8dB和45.4dB。  相似文献

根据晶体锥光效应提出一种光控制方法.在双轴晶体中光波沿光轴方向入射时,其传播方向随光偏振方向的不同而改变,通过控制磁光偏振调制器上磁场强度改变光的偏振方向,从而实现对激光束方向的控制.据此分析了双轴晶体锥光效应光盘寻迹的基本原理并设计出总体方案,数值模拟计算得到晶体入射光偏振角度与寻迹位移的关系,初步验证了此方案的合理性,该方案与传统机电跟踪寻迹方式相比具有结构轻巧,动态响应快等优点.同时,也为光开关、扫描等技术提供了一种新的思想和方法.  相似文献

由磁光介质(M)和电介质(G)周期性排列构成的磁光光子晶体会出现很强的光 局域性,最近用它来实现磁光隔离器引起人们广泛的兴趣.给出了一种可用于计算 偏振光在各向异性介质传播问题的传输矩阵方法.并用该方法计算了对称多缺陷结构磁光多 层膜隔离器的光学性质,发现随着缺陷数目的增多,旋转角及透过率的频谱响应得到改善. 当缺陷增加到一定数目时,不需要额外的反射层即可实现反射型磁光隔离器的要求. 关键词: 光隔离器 磁光效应 多层膜 光子晶体  相似文献

By means of a plane-wave-based transfer-matrix method, we present an extensive study of propagation loss in two-dimensional (2D) photonic crystal waveguides with limited cladding wall thickness. We examine the dependence of propagation loss on both the propagation direction and the waveguide wall thickness. It is shown that the propagation loss is a function of excitation frequency, wall thickness and waveguide outermost surface morphology. The conclusion that the propagation loss essentially decays exponentially with respect to the cladding wall thickness of a waveguide is valid only to a certain degree. In addition, we find that the propagation loss exhibit very complex behavior with respect to the excitation frequency.  相似文献

给出了任意倾斜偏置磁场作用下相位失配时微波静磁波与导波光的磁光耦合方程,分析了相位失配对导波光衍射效率及其衍射方向的影响.计算了YIG薄膜波导中静磁反向体波与导波光非共线作用的Bragg衍射效率, 传统磁化时计算结果与实验结果一致.计算表明,与传统磁化情形相比,适当的偏斜磁场可使导波光衍射效率提高6dB以上;当导波光入射角保持不变时,由磁场方向改变引起的相位失配对衍射效率的影响不大.因此,优化偏置磁场方向是改善磁光Bragg器件衍射性能、提高磁光带宽的有效方法. 关键词: 磁光效应 Bragg衍射 静磁波  相似文献

建立了磁光晶体磁致偏振特性测试系统。对Bi YIG晶体样品在大范围磁场下的退偏现象进行了测试。结果表明,达到磁饱和或接近磁饱和时,Bi YIG晶体的偏振性能最优;达到磁饱和后,随着磁场的增强,出现了磁致退偏效应。根据实验结果分析了磁致退偏效应的产生机理,并说明了磁致圆二向色性及磁致线双折射是产生退偏的原因。  相似文献

We have investigated a waveguide bend having enhanced curvature with reduced loss. The waveguide width is made wider toward the inner side of the bend. The numerical analysis, by means of the beam propagation method, showed that the loss of the proposed bend is lower than that of an abrupt bend or a smooth bend of constant curvature. For a typical waveguide, we have optimized the structure of the bend and achieved one order of loss reduction in comparison with an abrupt bend of the same angle.  相似文献

A numerical matrix method relative to the propagation of ultrasonic guided waves in functionally graded piezoelectric heterostructure is given in order to make a comparative study with the respective performances of analytical methods proposed in literature. The preliminary obtained results show a good agreement, however numerical approach has the advantage of conceptual simplicity and flexibility brought about by the stiffness matrix method. The propagation behaviour of Love waves in a functionally graded piezoelectric material (FGPM) is investigated in this article. It involves a thin FGPM layer bonded perfectly to an elastic substrate. The inhomogeneous FGPM heterostructure has been stratified along the depth direction, hence each state can be considered as homogeneous and the ordinary differential equation method is applied. The obtained solutions are used to study the effect of an exponential gradient applied to physical properties. Such numerical approach allows applying different gradient variation for mechanical and electrical properties. For this case, the obtained results reveal opposite effects. The dispersive curves and phase velocities of the Love wave propagation in the layered piezoelectric film are obtained for electrical open and short cases on the free surface, respectively. The effect of gradient coefficients on coupled electromechanical factor, on the stress fields, the electrical potential and the mechanical displacement are discussed, respectively. Illustration is achieved on the well known heterostructure PZT-5H/SiO2, the obtained results are especially useful in the design of high-performance acoustic surface devices and accurately prediction of the Love wave propagation behaviour.  相似文献

根据光纤中磁光效应与非线性效应的微扰理论,推导了磁光光纤中光脉冲的非线性耦合模方程,比较了修正的分步傅里叶算法中磁光效应的时域和频域处理方案,表明了在步长足够小的情况下,两种方案的结果一致.分析了磁光效应、光纤非线性以及色散对光脉冲传输特性的影响,通过改变磁光耦合强度,不但可以灵活控制脉冲形状,还可以改变非线性引起的频率啁啾大小,有助于实现基于光脉冲展宽的动态整形功能.本文给出的理论分析方法,有助于开发可用于光纤通信、光纤传感等领域的基于非线性磁光光纤的新型磁光信息处理器件.  相似文献

本文基于Nonlinear Progressive Equation (NPE方程)开展了对非均匀大气中次声波超视距传播特性的研究, 通过数值模拟实验对武汉上空四季次声波传播情况以及路径传输损耗进行了模拟, 获取了次声波在非均匀大气中的超视距传播特性. 计算结果表明, 非均匀大气的性质及其中存在的风对次声波传播有明显的影响, 平流层折射与风速和声波传播方向密切相关, 数值模拟结果表明, 当高斯声源主频为0.1 Hz时, 在不同的背景风场传播条件下, 存在着两个反射高度, 其中40 km 高度反射传输损耗约为25 dB, 110 km反射传输损耗约为50 dB. 关键词: 次声波 超视距传播 非均匀大气 平流层折射  相似文献

We propose a new type of birefringent index guiding photonic crystal fiber (PCF) with two hollow GeO2-doped silica ring defects imbedded in a hexagonal hole arrays. Rigorous finite element method (FEM) using the perfectly matched layer (PML) was applied to calculate complex propagation constant and analyze optical transmission characteristics. Birefringence was flexibly controlled independent of chromatic dispersion, and improvement in confinement loss was achieved by optimizing hollow ring defect parameters.  相似文献

We constructed a lens-free in-line optical isolator by embedding an isolator chip in a thermally expanded core (TEC) fiber without complicated optical alignment. The chip consists of two pairs of rutile wedges and garnet plates. We fabricated the TEC fibers by heating a single-mode fiber with a 200-mum outer diameter; low loss and a spot diameter as large as 49 mum were successfully obtained. The fabricated isolator has excellent optical properties, an insertion loss of 0.45 dB, and an isolation of more than 50 dB at a 1.55-mum wavelength, which confirms the usefulness of the integration techniques.  相似文献
