Summary We show that a one-step method as applied to a dynamical system with a hyperbolic periodic orbit, exhibits an invariant closed curve for sufficiently small step size. This invariant curve converges to the periodic orbit with the order of the method and it inherits the stability of the periodic orbit. The dynamics of the one-step method on the invariant curve can be described by the rotation number for which we derive an asymptotic expression. Our results complement those of [2, 3] where one-step methods were shown to create invariant curves if the dynamical system has a periodic orbit which is stable in either time direction or if the system undergoes a Hopf bifurcation.  相似文献

Based on the classical predator–prey system with Watt-type functional response, an impulsive differential equations to model the process of periodic perturbations on the predator at different fixed time for pest control is proposed and investigated. It proves that there exists a globally asymptotically stable prey-eradication periodic solution when the impulse period is less than some critical value, and otherwise, the system can be permanent. Numerical results show that the system considered has more complicated dynamics involving quasi-periodic oscillation, narrow periodic window, wide periodic window, chaotic bands, period doubling bifurcation, symmetry-breaking pitchfork bifurcation, period-halving bifurcation and “crises”, etc. It will be useful for studying the dynamic complexity of ecosystems.  相似文献

A plane circular restricted three body problem is considered for small values of the ratio of the masses μ of the main bodies. All the limit problems as μ → 0: the two-body problem, Hill's problem, the intermediate Hénon problem and the basic limit problem, are found using a Power Geometry. In each of them, solutions are isolated which are the limits of the periodic solutions of the restricted problem as μ → 0 and the limits of the families of periodic solutions (which are called generating families). Using the generating families in the case of small μ > 0, the families are studied which are started as the reverse (family h) and forward (family i) circular orbits of infinitesimal radius around the body of greater mass. It is shown that, as μ increases, there is a small change in the structure of family h but family i undergoes infinitely many self-bifurcations with the formation of an infinite number of closed subfamilies, each of which only exists in a certain range of values of μ. A theory of the formation of horseshoe-shaped orbits and orbits in the form of “tadpoles” is given, and the structure of the basic families containing periodic solution with these orbits is indicated.  相似文献

A nonautonomous Lotka–Volterra dispersal system with continuous delays and discrete delays is considered. By using a comparison theorem and delay differential equation basic theory, we obtain sufficient conditions for the permanence of the population in every patch. By constructing a suitable Lyapunov functional, we prove that the system is globally asymptotically stable under some appropriate conditions. Using almost periodic functional hull theory, we get sufficient conditions for the existence, uniqueness and globally asymptotical stability for an almost periodic solution. This implies that the population in every patch exhibits stable almost periodic fluctuation. Furthermore, the results show that the permanence and global stability of system, and the existence and uniqueness of a positive almost periodic solution, depend on the delay; then we call it “profitless”.  相似文献

This paper deals with a diffusive toxin producing phytoplankton‐zooplankton model with maturation delay. By analyzing eigenvalues of the characteristic equation associated with delay parameter, the stability of the positive equilibrium and the existence of Hopf bifurcation are studied. Explicit results are derived for the properties of bifurcating periodic solutions by means of the normal form theory and the center manifold reduction for partial functional differential equations. Numerical simulations not only agree with the theoretical analysis but also exhibit the complex behaviors such as the period‐3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 11, and 12 solutions, cascade of period‐doubling bifurcation in period‐2, 4, quasi‐periodic solutions, and chaos. The key observation is that time delay may control harmful algae blooms (HABs). Moreover, numerical simulations show that the chaotic states induced by the period‐doubling bifurcation are purely temporal, which is stationary in space and oscillatory in time. The investigations may provide some new insights on harmful phytoplankton blooms.  相似文献

The LPA model is a three dimensional system of nonlinear difference equations that has found many applications in population dynamics and ecology. In this paper, we consider a special case of the model (a case that approximates that used in experimental bifurcation and chaos studies) and prove several theorems concerning the existence and stability of periodic cycles, invariant loops, and chaos. Key is the notion of synchronous orbits (i.e. orbits lying on the coordinate planes). The main result concerns the existence of an invariant loop of synchronous orbits that bifurcates, in a nongeneric way, from the trivial equilibrium. The geometry and dynamics of this invariant loop are characterized. Specifically, it is shown that the loop is a cycle chain consisting of synchronous heteroclinic orbits connecting the three temporal phases of a synchronous 3-cycle. We also show that a period doubling route to chaos occurs within the class of synchronous orbits.  相似文献

Some doubly periodic (Jacobi elliptic function) solutions of the modified Kawahara equation are presented in closed form. Our approach is to introduce a new auxiliary ordinary differential equation and use its Jacobi elliptic function solutions to construct doubly periodic solutions of the modified Kawahara equation. When the module m → 1, these solutions degenerate to the exact solitary wave solutions of the equation. Then we reveal the relation of some exact solutions for the modified Kawahara equation obtained by other authors.  相似文献

In this paper, we investigate the stability and Hopf bifurcation of a new regulated logistic growth with discrete and distributed delays. By choosing the discrete delay τ as a bifurcation parameter, we prove that the system is locally asymptotically stable in a range of the delay and Hopf bifurcation occurs as τ crosses a critical value. Furthermore, explicit algorithm for determining the direction of the Hopf bifurcation and the stability of the bifurcating periodic solutions is derived by normal form theorem and center manifold argument. Finally, an illustrative example is also given to support the theoretical results.  相似文献

In this paper, the bifurcations of a discrete stage-structured population model with self-limitation between the two subgroups are investigated. We explore all possible codimension-one bifurcations associated with transcritical, flip (period doubling) and Neimark-Sacker bifurcations and discuss the stabilities of the fixed points in these non-hyperbolic cases. Meanwhile, we give the explicit approximate expression of the closed invariant curve which is caused by the Neimark-Sacker bifurcation. After that, through the theory of approximation by a flow, we explore the codimension two bifurcations associated with 1:3 strong resonance. We convert the nondegenerate condition of 1:3 resonance into a parametric polynomial, and determine its sign by the theory of complete discrimination system. We introduce new parameters and utilize some variable substitutions to obtain the bifurcation curves around 1:3 resonance, which are returned to the original variables and parameters to express for easy verification. By using a series of complicated approximate identity transformations and polar coordinate transformation, we explore 1:6 weak resonance. Moreover, we calculate the two boundaries of Arnold tongue which are caused by 1:6 weak resonance and defined as the resonance region. Numerical simulations and numerical bifurcation analyzes are made to demonstrate the effective of the theoretical analyzes and to present the relations between these bifurcations. Furthermore, our theoretical analyzes and numerical simulations are explained from the biological point of view.  相似文献

Both discrete and distributed delays are considered in a two‐neuron system. We analyze the influence of interaction coefficient and time delay on the Hopf‐pitchfork bifurcation. First, we obtain the codimension‐2 unfolding with original parameters for Hopf‐pitchfork bifurcation by using the center manifold reduction and the normal form method. Next, through analyzing the unfolding structure, we give complete bifurcation diagrams and phase portraits, in which multistability and other dynamical behaviors of the original system are found, such as a stable periodic orbit, the coexistence of two stable nontrivial equilibria, and the coexistence of a stable periodic orbit and two stable equilibria. In addition, the obtained theoretical results are verified by numerical simulations. Finally, we perform the comparisons of the obtained results of Hopf‐pitchfork bifurcation with other Hopf‐fold bifurcation results in some biological neural systems and give the obtained mathematical results corresponding to the physical states of neurons. A delayed Lotka–Volterra two-species predator–prey system with discrete hunting delay and distributed maturation delay for the predator population described by an integral with a strong delay kernel is considered. By linearizing the system at the positive equilibrium and analyzing the associated characteristic equation, the asymptotic stability of the positive equilibrium is investigated and Hopf bifurcations are demonstrated. It is found that under suitable conditions on the parameters the positive equilibrium is asymptotically stable when the hunting delay is less than a certain critical value and unstable when the hunting delay is greater than this critical value. Meanwhile, according to the Hopf bifurcation theorem for functional differential equations (FDEs), we find that the system can also undergo a Hopf bifurcation of nonconstant periodic solution at the positive equilibrium when the hunting delay crosses through a sequence of critical values. In particular, by applying the normal form theory and the center manifold reduction for FDEs, an explicit algorithm determining the direction of Hopf bifurcations and the stability of bifurcating periodic solutions occurring through Hopf bifurcations is given. Finally, to verify our theoretical predictions, some numerical simulations are also included at the end of this paper.  相似文献

The localization problem of compact invariant sets of the Rössler system is considered in this paper. The main interest is attracted to a localization of periodic orbits. We establish a number of algebraic conditions imposed on parameters under which the Rössler system has no compact invariant sets contained in half-spaces z > 0; z < 0 and in some others. We prove that if parameters (abc) of the Rössler system are such that this system has no equilibrium points then it has no periodic orbits as well. In addition, we give localization conditions of compact invariant sets by using linear functions and one quadratic function.  相似文献

The predator-prey systems with harvesting have received a great deal of attentions for last few decades. Incorporating discrete time delays into predator-prey models could induce instability and bifurcation. In this paper we are interested in studying the combined effects of harvesting and discrete time delay on the dynamics of a predator-prey model. A comparative analysis is provided for stability behaviour in absence as well as in presence of time delay. The length of discrete time delay to preserve stability of the model system is obtained. Existence of Hopf-bifurcating small amplitude periodic solutions is derived by taking discrete time delay as a bifurcation parameter.  相似文献

Consider an operator equation G(u,λ) = 0 where λ is a real parameter. Suppose 0 is a “simple” eigenvalue of the Fréchet derivative Gu at (u0, λ0). We give a hierarchy of conditions which completely determines the solution structure of the operator equation. It will be shown that multiple bifurcation as well as simple bifurcation can occur. This extends the standard bifurcation theory from a simple eigenvalue in which only one branch bifurcates. We also discuss limit point bifurcations. Applications to semilinear elliptic equations and the homotopy method for the matrix eigenvalue problem are also given.  相似文献

The paper deals with the dynamical behavior of fish and mussel population in a fish farm where external food is supplied. The ecosystem of the fish farm is represented by a set of nonlinear differential equations involving the nutrient (food), fish and mussels. We have studied the boundedness, local stability and global stability of the model system. We have incorporated the discrete type gestational delay of fish and analyze effect of the delay on the dynamical behavior of the model system. The delay parameter complicates the dynamics depending on the external food from changing the stable state to unstable damped periodic trajectories leading to a limit cycle oscillation. We have studied the Hopf-bifurcation of the model system in the neighborhood of the coexisting equilibrium point considering delay as a variable bifurcation parameter. We have performed numerical simulation to verify the analytical results. The entire study reveals that the external food supply controls the dynamics of the system.  相似文献

Hopf-flip bifurcations of vibratory systems with impacts   总被引:2,自引:1,他引:1
Two vibro-impact systems are considered. The period n single-impact motions and Poincaré maps of the vibro-impact systems are derived analytically. Stability and local bifurcations of single-impact periodic motions are analyzed by using the Poincaré maps. A center manifold theorem technique is applied to reduce the Poincaré map to a three-dimensional one, and the normal form map associated with Hopf-flip bifurcation is obtained. It is found that near the point of codim 2 bifurcation there exists not only Hopf bifurcation of period one single-impact motion, but also Hopf bifurcation of period two double-impact motion. Period doubling bifurcation of period one single-impact motion is commonly existent near the point of codim 2 bifurcation. However, no period doubling cascade emerges due to change of the type of period two fixed points and occurrence of Hopf bifurcation associated with period two fixed points. The results from simulation shows that there exists an interest torus doubling bifurcation occurring near the value of Hopf-flip bifurcation. The torus doubling bifurcation makes the quasi-periodic attractor associated with period one single-impact motion transit to the other quasi-periodic attractor represented by two attracting closed circles. The torus bifurcation is qualitatively different from the typical torus doubling bifurcation occurring in the vibro-impact systems.  相似文献

A differential-algebraic model system which considers a prey-predator system with stage structure for prey and harvest effort on predator is proposed. By using the differential-algebraic system theory and bifurcation theory, dynamic behavior of the proposed model system with and without discrete time delay is investigated. Local stability analysis of the model system without discrete time delay reveals that there is a phenomenon of singularity induced bifurcation due to variation of the economic interest of harvesting, and a state feedback controller is designed to stabilize the proposed model system at the interior equilibrium; Furthermore, local stability of the model system with discrete time delay is studied. It reveals that the discrete time delay has a destabilizing effect in the population dynamics, and a phenomenon of Hopf bifurcation occurs as the discrete time delay increases through a certain threshold. Finally, numerical simulations are carried out to show the consistency with theoretical analysis obtained in this paper.  相似文献

This paper systematically studies a hybrid predator–prey economic model, which is formulated by differential-difference-algebraic equations. It shows that this model exhibits two bifurcation phenomena at the intersampling instants. One is saddle–node bifurcation, and the other is singular induced bifurcation which indicates that economic profit may bring impulse at some critical value, i.e., rapid expansion of biological population in terms of ecological implications. On the other hand, for the sampling instants, the system undergoes Neimark–Sacker bifurcation at a critical value of economic profit, i.e., the increase of economic profit destabilizes the system and generates a unique closed invariant curve. Moreover, the state feedback controller is designed so that singular induced bifurcation and Neimark–Sacker bifurcation can be eliminated and the population can be driven to steady states by adjusting harvesting costs and the economic profit. At the same time, by using Matlab software, numerical simulations illustrate the effectiveness of the results obtained here.  相似文献

A saddle-node bifurcation with the coalescence of a stable periodic orbit and an unstable periodic orbit is a common phenomenon in nonlinear systems. This study investigates the mechanism of producing another saddle-node bifurcation with the coalescence of two unstable periodic orbits. The saddle-node bifurcation results from a codimension-two bifurcation that a period doubling bifurcation line tangentially intersects a saddle-node bifurcation line in a parameter plane. Based on the bifurcation theory, the saddle-node bifurcation with the coalescence of two unstable periodic orbits is studied using the codimension-two bifurcation.  相似文献

In this paper, Hopf bifurcation for two-species Lotka–Volterra competition systems with delay dependence is investigated. By choosing the delay as a bifurcation parameter, we prove that the system is stable over a range of the delay and beyond that it is unstable in the limit cycle form, i.e., there are periodic solutions bifurcating out from the positive equilibrium. Our results show that a stable competition system can be destabilized by the introduction of a maturation delay parameter. Further, an explicit algorithm for determining the direction of the Hopf bifurcation and the stability of the bifurcating periodic solutions is derived by using the theory of normal forms and center manifolds, and numerical simulations supporting the theoretical analysis are also given.  相似文献
