Two novel multifunctional precursors with eight alcoholic hydroxyls were synthesized by derivatization of resorcinarene. Well‐defined eight‐arm star‐shaped poly(ε‐caprolactone)s (SPCLs) with reasonably narrow molecular weight distributions have been successfully prepared using the precursors as macro‐initiators and yttrium tris(2,6‐di‐tert‐butyl‐4‐methylphenolate) [Y(DBMP)3] as catalyst at 40 °C. The molecular weight of SPCLs was characterized by end group 1H NMR analyses and size‐exclusion chromatography, which could be well controlled by the molar ratio of the monomer to the precursor. The polymerization is more controllable with the precursor holding longer hydrocarbon chains as R groups. Differential scanning calorimetry analyses suggested that the maximal melting point, the crystallization temperature, and the degree of crystallinities of SPCLs increased with the increasing of the molecular weight, and were significantly lower than that of the counterpart linear poly(ε‐caprolactone) (LPCL). Furthermore, polarized optical microscopy indicated that LPCL showed fast crystallization rate with apparent Maltese cross pattern, whereas SPCL exhibited irregular spherulite and apparently slower crystallization rate. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The cationic ring‐opening multibranching polymerization of 2‐hydroxymethyloxetane ( 1 ) as a novel latent AB2‐type monomer was carried out using trifluoromethane sulfonic acid or trifluoroboron diethyl etherate by a slow‐monomer‐addition (SMA) method. The polymer yield of poly‐1 ranged from ca. 58–88%, which increase with the increasing monomer addition time on the SMA method. The absolute molecular weights (Mw,MALLS) and the polydispersities of poly‐1 were in the range of 8,000–43,500 and 1.45–4.53, respectively, which also increased with the increasing monomer addition time. The Mark‐Houwink‐Sakurada exponents α in 0.2 M NaNO3 aq. were determined to be 0.02–0.25 for poly‐1 , indicating that poly‐1 has compact forms in the solution because of the highly branched structure. The degree of the branching value of poly‐1 , which was calculated by Frey's equation, ranged from ca. 0.50 to 0.58, which increased with the increasing monomer addition time. The steady shear flow of poly‐1 in aqueous solution exhibited a Newtonian behavior with steady shear viscosities independent of the shear rate. The results of the MALLS, NMR, and viscosity measurements indicated that poly‐1 is composed of a highly branched structure, i.e., the hyperbranched poly (2‐hydroxymethyloxetane). © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. This article reports a new one‐pot method for polymer preparation, which involves double click chemistry. In one pot, two click reactions take place sequentially by adding the reactants step by step. The first click reaction is to produce the monomer for the second click reaction for polymerization. The click polymerization differs from the general click polymerization with the reaction of diazides and dialkynes. Nitrile oxides, produced in situ by the first click reaction of the formation of aldoxime, instead azides, avoiding the poisonousness and explosiveness of azides and being much safer and easy to operate. And 3,5‐disubstitute polyisoxazoles are produced by the copper(I)‐catalyzed the 1,3‐dipolar cycloaddition of nitrile oxides with alkynes in high yields by our one‐pot method. The resulting polyisoxazoles agree well with the structural assignment obtained by the 1H NMR and IR analyses, with high molecular weights, narrow molecular weight distribution (Mw/Mn < 1.2) and high regioregularity. The poor solubility of these polymers is found to be caused by their crystallization. Improvement of solubility is achieved by modifying the structures of alkyne monomers. All the polymers are thermally stable, losing little of their weights when heated to ~350 °C. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem, 2013  相似文献

The new monomer N′‐(β‐methacryloyloxyethyl)‐2‐pyrimidyl‐(p‐benzyloxy‐ carbonyl)aminobenzenesulfonamide (MPBAS) (M1) is synthesized using sulfadiazine as parent compound. It could be homopolymerized and copolymerized with N‐phenyl maleimide (NPMI) (M2) by radical mechanism using AIBN as initiator at 60 °C in dimethylformamide. The new monomer MPBAS and polymers were identified by IR, element analysis and 1H NMR in detail. The monomer reactivity ratios in copolymerization were determined by YBR method, and r1 (MPBAS) = 2.39 ± 0.05, r2 (NPMI) = 0.33 ± 0.02. In the presence of ammonium formate, benzyloxycarbonyl groups could be broken fluently from MPBAS segments of copolymer by catalytic transfer hydrogenation, and the copolymer with sulfadiazine side groups are recovered. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. In contrast to BiF3, the other three Bi‐halides catalyzed the ring‐opening polymerization of ε‐caprolactone (ε‐CL) in bulk. A temperature of 140 °C was found to be advantageous for rapid polymerization and optimum molecular weights. At this temperature, the reactivity of the catalysts increases in the order BiCl3 < BiBr3 < BiJ3. Variation of the monomer‐catalyst ratio (M/C) yielded number‐average molecular weights (Mns) up to 80,000 Da (corrected SEC data, 120,000 Da uncorrected), but a proper control of the Mns was not achieved. In addition to CH2? OH endgroups, CH2Cl, CH2Br, and CH2J endgroups were detected, but no evidence for a cationic polymerization mechanism was found. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A new anhydro disaccharide monomer, 1,6‐anhydro‐2,3‐di‐o‐benzyl‐4‐o‐(2′,3′,4′,6′‐tetra‐o‐benzyl‐β‐D ‐galactopyranosyl)‐β‐D ‐glucopyranose (benzylated 1,6‐anhydro lactose (LSHBE)), was synthesized from D ‐lactose to investigate the polymerizability and biological activities of the resulting branched polysaccharides. The ring‐opening polymerization of LSHBE was carried out with phosphorus pentafluoride as a catalyst under high vacuum to give a stereoregular benzylated (1 → 6)‐α‐D ‐lactopyranan. The molecular weights of poly(LSHBE)s increased with an increase in the amount of CH2Cl2 solvent, and polymerization temperatures were affected in both molecular weights and yields of the polymers. The copolymerization of LSHBE with benzylated 1,6‐anhydro‐β‐D ‐glucopyranose (LGTBE) gave the corresponding copolysacchrides having different proportions of lactose and glucose units in good yields. After debenzylation to recover hydroxyl groups and then sulfation, sulfated homopoly(lactose)s and copoly(lactose and glucose)s were obtained. Sulfated homopoly(lactose)s had moderate anti‐HIV (EC50 = 5.9 and 1.3 μg/mL) and blood anticoagulant activities (AA = 18 and 13 unit/mg), respectively. Sulfated copoly(lactose and glucose) having 15 mol % lactose units gave high anti‐HIV and blood anticoagulant activities of 0.3 μg/mL and 54 unit/mg, respectively. These biological results suggest that the distance between branched units on the main chain plays an important role in the anti‐HIV and blood anticoagulant activities. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Diphenyl bismuth bromide (Ph2BiBr) allows for polymerizations of ε‐caprolactone in bulk at temperatures as low as 40 °C. Time conversion curves indicate a lower reactivity than tin(II) 2‐ethyl hexanoate (SnOct2) plus alcohol at 120 °C and also at 60 °C. Ph2BiBr also proved to be less reactive than Ph2BiOEt, but more reactive than BiBr3 and Bi(III)n‐hexanoate. Small amounts (≤1 wt %) of cyclic oligoester were detectable by MALDI‐TOF mass spectrometry even at a polymerization temperature of 40 °C. The molar masses depend on the monomer–initiator ratio (M/I) but not in a simple parallel manner. With M/I = 600/1 number average molecular weights (Mns, corrected values) around 500 kDa were obtained. Even at low M/Is high molar mass polylactones were found and CH2Br endgroups were not detectable. However, upon addition of tetra(ethylene glycol) the coinitiator was completely incorporated yielding telechelic polylactones and the molar mass increased with the monomer–coinitiator ratio. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The titanium complexes with one ( 1a , 1b , 1c ) and two ( 2a , 2b ) dialkanolamine ligands were used as initiators in the ring‐opening polymerization (ROP) of ε‐caprolactone. Titanocanes 1a and 1b initiated living ROP of ε‐caprolactone affording polymers whose number‐average molecular weights (Mn) increased in direct proportion to monomer conversion (Mn ≤ 30,000 g mol?1) in agreement with calculated values, and were inversely proportional to initiator concentration, while the molecular weight distribution stayed narrow throughout the polymerization (Mw/Mn ≤ 1.2 up to 80% monomer conversion). 1H‐NMR and MALDI‐TOF‐MS studies of the obtained poly(ε‐caprolactone)s revealed the presence of an isopropoxy group originated from the initiator at the polymer termini, indicating that the polymerization takes place exclusively at the Ti–OiPr bond of the catalyst. The higher molecular weight polymers (Mn ≤ 70,000 g mol?1) with reasonable MWD (Mw/Mn ≤ 1.6) were synthesized by living ROP of ε‐caprolactone using spirobititanocanes ( 2a , 2b ) and titanocane 1c as initiators. The latter catalysts, according MALDI‐TOF‐MS data, afford poly(ε‐caprolactone)s with almost equal content of α,ω‐dihydroxyl‐ and α‐hydroxyl‐ω(carboxylic acid)‐terminated chains arising due to monomer insertion into “Ti–O” bond of dialkanolamine ligand and from initiation via traces of water, respectively. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A synthetic route is developed for the preparation of an AB‐type of monomer carrying an epoxy and a thiol group. Base‐catalyzed thiol‐epoxy polymerization of this monomer gave rise to poly(β‐hydroxythio‐ether)s. A systematic variation in the reaction conditions suggested that tetrabutyl ammonium fluoride, lithium hydroxide, and 1,8‐diazabicycloundecene (DBU) were good polymerization catalysts. Triethylamine, in contrast, required higher temperatures and excess amounts to yield polymers. THF and water could be used as polymerization mediums. However, the best results were obtained in bulk conditions. This required the use of a mechanical stirrer due to the high viscosity of the polymerization mixture. The polymers obtained from the AB monomer route exhibited significantly higher molecular weights (Mw = 47,700, Mn = 23,200 g/mol) than the materials prepared from an AA/BB type of the monomer system (Mw = 10,000, Mn = 5400 g/mol). The prepared reactive polymers could be transformed into a fluorescent or a cationic structure through postpolymerization modification of the reactive hydroxyl sites present along the polymer backbone. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Cationic ring‐opening polymerization of ϵ‐thionocaprolactone was examined. The corresponding polythioester with the number‐average molecular weight (Mn ) of 57,000 was obtained in the polymerization with 1 mol % of BF3 · OEt2 as an initiator in CH2Cl2 at 28 °C for 5 h with quantitative monomer conversion. The Mn of the polymer increased with the solvent polarity and monomer‐to‐initiator ratio. No polymerization took place below −30 °C, and the monomer conversion and Mn of the polymer increased with the temperature in the range of −15 to 28 °C. The increase of initial monomer concentration was effective to improve the monomer conversion and the Mn of the obtained polymer. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. A new strategy is developed to prepare both α,ω‐dithiol and α,ω‐divinyl linear telechelic polythiolether oligomers by visible light induced thiol‐ene chemistry in the presence of a fac‐Ir(ppy)3 photoredox catalyst. Polythiolether oligomers of well‐defined end groups and controlled molecular weights have been successfully synthesized at varying monomer molar ratios of 1,4‐benzenedimethanethiol (BDMT) to diethylene glycol divinyl ether (DEGVE). 1H NMR and MALDI‐TOF MS analyses demonstrate that as‐prepared polythiolethers possess high end‐group fidelity, which is further supported by the successful polyaddition of polythiolethers bearing α,ω‐dithiol and α,ω‐divinyl groups. For example, with the α,ω‐dithiol‐ (Mn = 1900 g mol?1, PDI = 1.25) and α,ω‐divinyl‐terminated (Mn = 2000 g mol?1, PDI = 1.29) polythiolethers as macromonomers, the molecular weight of resulting polythiolether is up to 7700 g mol?1 with PDI as 1.67. The reactivity of the terminal thiol group is further confirmed by the addition reaction with N‐(1‐pyrenyl)maleimide. UV‐vis spectra and fluorescene measurements suggest that fac‐Ir(ppy)3 undergo a redox quenching process reacted with BDMT to generate thiyl free radicals. With these results, the mechanism of the thiol‐ene reaction catalyzed by photoredox catalyst is proposed. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Sci., Part A: Polym. The cationic ring‐opening polymerization of a seven‐membered cyclic monothiocarbonate, 1,3‐dioxepan‐2‐thione, produced a soluble polymer through the selective isomerization of thiocarbonyl to a carbonyl group {? [SC(C?O)O(CH2)4]n? }. The molecular weights of the polymer could be controlled by the feed ratio of the monomer to the initiators or the conversion of the monomer during the polymerization, although some termination reactions occurred after the complete consumption of the monomer. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Six‐arm star‐shaped poly(ε‐caprolactone) (sPCL) was successfully synthesized via the ring‐opening polymerization of ε‐caprolactone with a commercial dipentaerythritol as the initiator and stannous octoate (SnOct2) as the catalyst in bulk at 120 °C. The effects of the molar ratios of both the monomer to the initiator and the monomer to the catalyst on the molecular weight of the polymer were investigated in detail. The molecular weight of the polymer linearly increased with the molar ratio of the monomer to the initiator, and the molecular weight distribution was very low (weight‐average molecular weight/number‐average molecular weight = 1.05–1.24). However, the molar ratio of the monomer to the catalyst had no apparent influence on the molecular weight of the polymer. Differential scanning calorimetry analysis indicated that the maximal melting point, cold crystallization temperature, and degree of crystallinity of the sPCL polymers increased with increasing molecular weight, and crystallinities of different sizes and imperfect crystallization possibly did not exist in the sPCL polymers. Furthermore, polarized optical microscopy analysis indicated that the crystallization rate of the polymers was in the order of linear poly(ε‐caprolactone) (LPCL) > sPCL5 > sPCL1 (sPCL5 had a higher molecular weight than both sPCL1 and LPCL, which had similar molecular weights). Both LPCL and sPCL5 exhibited a good spherulitic morphology with apparent Maltese cross patterns, whereas sPCL1 showed a poor spherulitic morphology. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Per‐2,3‐acetyl‐β‐cyclodextrin with seven primary hydroxyl groups was synthesized by selective modification and used as multifunctional initiator for the ring‐opening polymerization of ε‐caprolactone (CL). Well‐defined β‐cyclodextrin‐centered seven‐arm star poly(ε‐caprolactone)s (CDSPCLs) with narrow molecular weight distributions (≤1.15) have been successfully prepared in the presence of Sn(Oct)2 at 120 °C. The molecular weight of CDSPCLs was characterized by end group 1H NMR analyses and size‐exclusion chromatography (SEC), which could be well controlled by the molar ratio of the monomer to the initiator. Furthermore, amphiphilic seven‐arm star poly(ε‐caprolactone‐b‐ethylene glycol)s (CDSPCL‐b‐PEGs) were synthesized by the coupling reaction of CDSPCLs with carboxyl‐terminated mPEGs. 1H NMR and SEC analyses confirmed the expected star block structures. Differential scanning calorimetry analyses suggested that the melting temperature (Tm), the crystallization temperature (Tc), and the crystallinity degree (Xc) of CDSPCLs all increased with the increasing of the molecular weight, and were lower than that of the linear poly(ε‐caprolactone). As for CDSPCL‐b‐PEGs, the Tc and Tm of the PCL blocks were significantly influenced by the PEG segments in the copolymers. Moreover, these amphiphilic star block copolymers could self‐assemble into spherical micelles with the particle size ranging from 10 to 40 nm. Their micellization behaviors were characterized by dynamic light scattering and transmission electron microscopy. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A chiral monomer containing L ‐leucine as a pendant group was synthesized from methacryloyl chloride and L ‐leucine in presence of sodium hydroxide at 4 °C. The monomer was polymerized by free radical polymerization in propan‐2‐ol at 60 °C using 2,2′‐azobis isobutyronitrile (AIBN) as an initiator under nitrogen atmosphere. The polymer, poly(2‐(Methacryloyloxyamino)‐4‐methyl pentanoic acid) is thus obtained. The molecular weight of the polymer was determined to be: Mw is 6.9 × 103 and Mn is 5.6 × 103. The optical rotation of both chiral monomer and its polymer varies with the solvent polarity. The amplification of optical rotation due to transformation of monomer to polymer is associated with the ordered conformation of chiral monomer unit in the polymeric chain due to some secondary interactions like H‐bonding. The synthesized monomer and polymer exhibit intense Cotton effect at 220 nm. The conformation of the chain segments is sensitive to external stimuli, particularly the pH of the medium. In alkaline medium, the ordered chain conformation is destroyed resulting disordered random coils. The ordered coiling conformation is more firmly present on addition of HCl. The polymer exhibits swelling‐deswelling characteristics with the change of pH of the medium, which is reversible. The Cotton effect decreases linearly with the increase of temperature which is reversible on cooling. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 47: 2228–2242, 2009  相似文献

N‐Arylcyano‐β‐diketiminate methallyl nickel complexes activated with B(C6F5)3 were used in the polymerization of ethylene. The microstructure analysis of obtained polyethylene (PE) was done by differential scanning calorimetry and 13C nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). The branched polymer structures produced by these catalysts were attributed to one step isomerization mechanism of the catalyst along the polymer chain. The ortho or para position of the cyano group with co‐ordinated B(C6F5)3 in both methallyl nickel catalysts influenced the polymer molecular weight, branching, and consequently melting and crystallization temperatures. NMR spectroscopic studies showed predominantly the formation of methyl branches in the obtained PE. Catalysts under study gave linear low‐density PEs with good crystallinities at temperatures of reaction between 50 °C and 70 °C at moderate pressures (12.3 atm). A propylene–ethylene copolymer produced by the metallocene catalyst had the same concentration of branches as the PE synthesized from methallyl nickel/B(C6F5)3. Comparing the two polyolefins with the same degree of branching, it was observed that the polymer obtained with the nickel catalyst proved to be twice more crystalline and had greater Tm. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The synthesis of arborescent polymers with poly(γ‐benzyl L‐glutamate) (PBG) side chains was achieved through successive grafting reactions. The linear PBG building blocks were produced by the ring‐opening polymerization of γ‐benzyl L‐glutamic acid N‐carboxyanhydride initiated with n‐hexylamine. The polymerization conditions were optimized to minimize the loss of amino chain termini in the reaction. Acidolysis of a fraction of the benzyl groups on a linear PBG substrate and coupling with linear PBG using a carbodiimide/hydroxybenzotriazole promoter system yielded a comb‐branched or generation zero (G0) arborescent PBG. Further partial deprotection and grafting cycles led to arborescent PBG of generations G1 to G3. The solvent used in the coupling reaction had a dramatic influence on the yield of graft polymers of generations G1 and above, dimethylsulfoxide being preferable to N,N‐dimethylformamide. This grafting onto scheme yielded well‐defined (Mw/Mn ≤ 1.06), high molecular weight arborescent PBG in a few reaction cycles, with number‐average molecular weights and branching functionalities reaching over 106 and 290, respectively, for the G3 polymer. α‐Helix to coiled conformation transitions were observed from N,N‐dimethylformamide to dimethyl sulfoxide solutions, even for the highly branched polymers. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Application of chain‐growth condensation polymerization (CGCP) to obtain well‐defined polybenzoxazole (PBO) was examined. CGCP of both phenyl 3‐{(2‐methoxyethoxy)methoxy (MEM‐oxy)}‐4‐(octylamino)benzoate ( 1b ) (para‐substituted monomer) and phenyl 4‐MEM‐oxy‐3‐(octylamino)benzoate ( 3b ) (meta‐substituted monomer) was examined in the presence of metal disilazide base and phenyl 4‐nitro‐ or methylbenzoate 2 as an initiator. Polymerization of the latter monomer, but not the former, afforded polymer with controlled molecular weight based on the feed ratio of monomer to initiator and with a narrow molecular weight distribution. Accordingly, monomer 3c , in which the octyl group on the amino nitrogen of 3b was replaced with a 4‐(octyloxy)benzyl (OOB) group, was polymerized in the presence of lithium 1,1,1,3,3,3‐hexamethyldisilazide (LiHMDS), phenyl 4‐methylbenzoate ( 2b ), and LiCl in THF at 0 °C to yield poly 3c with well‐defined molecular weight (Mn = 4520–9080) and low polydispersity (Mw/Mn ≤ 1.11). Treatment of poly 3c with trifluoroacetic acid simultaneously removed the MEM and OOB groups, affording poly(o‐hydroxyamide) (poly 4 ) without scission of the amide linkages. Cyclodehydration of poly 4 proceeded at 350 °C to yield PBO (poly 5 ), which was insoluble in organic solvents and acids. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Sci., Part A: Polym. The nonisothermal crystallization kinetics of a luminescent conjugated polymer, poly(9,9‐dihexylfluorene‐altco‐2,5‐didecyloxy‐1,4‐phenylene) (PF6OC10) with three different molecular weights was investigated by differential scanning calorimetry under different cooling rates from the melt. With increasing molecular weight of PF6OC10, the temperature range of crystallization peak steadily became narrower and shifted to higher temperature region and the crystallization rate increased. It was found that the Ozawa method failed to describe the nonisothermal crystallization behavior of PF6OC10. Although the Avrami method did not effectively describe the nonisothermal crystallization kinetics of PF6OC10 for overall process, it was valid for describing the early stage of crystallization with an Avrami exponent n of about 3. The combined method proposed in our previous report was able to satisfactorily describe the nonisothermal crystallization behavior of PF6OC10. The crystallization activation energies determined by Kissinger, Takhor, and Augis‐Bennett models were comparable. The melting temperature of PF6OC10 increased with increasing molecular weight. For low‐molecular‐weight sample, PF6OC10 showed the characteristic of double melting phenomenon. The interval between the two melting peaks decreased with increasing molecular weight, and only one melting peak was observed for the high‐molecular‐weight sample. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
