The paper is concerned with a diffusive prey–predator model subject to the homogeneous Neumann boundary condition, which models the trophic intersections of three levels. We will prove that under certain assumptions, even though the unique positive constant steady state is globally asymptotically stable for the dynamics with diffusion, the non-constant positive steady state can exist due to the emergence of cross-diffusion. We demonstrate that the cross-diffusion can create stationary pattern. Moreover, we treat the cross-diffusion parameter as a bifurcation parameter and discuss the existence of non-constant positive solutions to the system with cross-diffusion.  相似文献

This paper presents a qualitative study of a diffusive predator–prey system with the hunting cooperation functional response. For the system without diffusion, the existence, stability and Hopf bifurcation of the positive equilibrium are explicitly determined. It is shown that the hunting cooperation affects not only the existence of the positive equilibrium but also the stability. For the diffusive system, the stability and cross-diffusion driven Turing instability are investigated according to the relationship of the self-diffusion and the cross-diffusion coefficients. Stability and cross-diffusion instability regions are theoretically determined in the plane of the cross-diffusion coefficients. The technique of multiple time scale is employed to deduce the amplitude equation of Turing bifurcation and then pattern dynamics driven by the cross-diffusion is also investigated by the corresponding amplitude equation.  相似文献

The ratio-dependent predator–prey model exhibits rich dynamics due to the singularity of the origin. Harvesting in a ratio-dependent predator–prey model is relatively an important research project from both ecological and mathematical points of view. In this paper, we study the temporal, spatial and spatiotemporal dynamics of a ratio-dependent predator–prey diffusive model where the predator population harvest at catch-per-unit-effort hypothesis. For the spatially homogeneous model, we derive conditions for determining the direction of Hopf bifurcation and the stability of the bifurcating periodic solution by the center manifold and the normal form theory. For the reaction–diffusion model, firstly it is shown that Turing (diffusion-driven) instability occurs, which induces spatial inhomogeneous patterns. Then it is demonstrated that the model exhibit Hopf bifurcation which produces temporal inhomogeneous patterns. Finally, the existence and non-existence of positive non-constant steady-state solutions are established. Moreover, numerical simulations are performed to visualize the complex dynamic behavior.  相似文献

This paper deals with a generalized predator–prey system with cross-diffusion and homogeneous Neumann boundary condition, where the cross-diffusion is included in such a way that the prey runs away from the predator. We first give a priori estimate for positive steady states to the system. Then we obtain the non-existence result of non-constant positive steady states. Finally, we investigate the stability of constant equilibrium point and the existence of non-constant positive steady states. It is shown that the system admits a non-constant positive steady state provided that either of the self-diffusions is large or the cross-diffusion is small.  相似文献

In this investigation, we offer and examine a predator–prey interacting model with prey refuge in proportion to both the species and Beddington–DeAngelis functional response. We first prove the well-posedness of the temporal and spatiotemporal models which are restricted in a positive invariant region. Then for the temporal model, we analyse its temporal dynamics including uniform boundedness, permanence, stability of all feasible non-negative equilibria and show that refugia can induce periodic oscillation via Hopf bifurcation around the unique positive equilibrium; for the spatiotemporal model, we not only investigate its permanence, stability of non-negative constant steady states and Turing instability but also study the existence and non-existence of non-constant positive steady states by Leray–Schauder degree theory. The key observation is that the coefficient of refuge cooperates a significant part in modifying the dynamics of the current system and mediates the population permanence, stability of coexisting equilibrium and even the Turing instability parameter space. Finally, general numerical simulation consequences are given to illustrate the validity of the theoretical results. Through numerical simulations, one observes that the model dynamics shows prey refugia and self-diffusion control spatiotemporal pattern growth to spots, stripe–spot mixtures and stripes reproduction. The outcomes assign that the dynamics of the model with prey refuge is not simple, but rich and complex. Additionally, numerical simulations show that the other model parameters have an important effect on species’ spatially inhomogeneous distribution, which results in the formation of spots pattern, mixture of spots and stripes pattern, mixture of spots, stripes and rings pattern and anti-spot pattern. This may improve the model dynamics of the prey refuge on the reaction–diffusion predator–prey system.  相似文献

Fear of predators is an important drive for predator–prey interactions, which increases survival probability but cost the overall population size of the prey. In this paper, we have extended our previous work spatiotemporal dynamics of predator–prey interactions with fear effect by introducing the cross-diffusion. The conditions for cross-diffusion-driven instability are obtained using the linear stability analysis. The standard multiple scale analysis is used to derive the amplitude equations for the excited modes near Turing bifurcation threshold by taking the cross-diffusion coefficient as a bifurcation parameter. From the stability analysis of amplitude equations, the conditions for the emergence of various ecologically realistic Turing patterns such as spot, stripe, and mixture of spots and stripes are identified. Analytical results are verified with the help of numerical simulations. Turing bifurcation diagrams are plotted taking diffusion coefficients as control parameters. The effect of the cross-diffusion coefficients on the homogeneous steady state and pattern structures of the self-diffusive model is illustrated using the simulation techniques. It is also observed that the level of fear has stabilizing effect on the cross-diffusion induced instability and spot patterns change to stripe, then a mixture of spots and stripes and finally to the labyrinthine type of patterns with an increase in the level of fear.  相似文献

In this paper, we study a strongly coupled reaction–diffusion system describing three interacting species in a food chain model, where the third species preys on the second one and simultaneously the second species preys on the first one. We first show that the unique positive equilibrium solution is globally asymptotically stable for the corresponding ODE system. The positive equilibrium solution remains linearly stable for the reaction–diffusion system without cross-diffusion, hence it does not belong to the classical Turing instability scheme. We further proved that the positive equilibrium solution is globally asymptotically stable for the reaction–diffusion system without cross-diffusion by constructing a Lyapunov function. But it becomes linearly unstable only when cross-diffusion also plays a role in the reaction–diffusion system, hence the instability is driven solely from the effect of cross-diffusion. Our results also exhibit some interesting combining effects of cross-diffusion, intra-species competitions and inter-species interactions.  相似文献

The present investigation deals with the necessary conditions for Turing instability with zero-flux boundary conditions that arise in a ratio-dependent predator–prey model involving the influence of logistic population growth in prey and intra-specific competition among predators described by a system of non-linear partial differential equations. The prime objective is to investigate the parametric space for which Turing spatial structure takes place and to perform extensive numerical simulation from both the mathematical and the biological points of view in order to examine the role of diffusion coefficients in Turing instability. Various spatiotemporal distributions of interacting species through Turing instability in two dimensional spatial domain are portrayed and analyzed at length in order to substantiate the applicability of the present model.  相似文献

In this paper, the global behavior of solutions is investigated for a Lotka–Volterra predator–prey system with prey-stage structure. First, we can see that the stability properties of nonnegative equilibria for the weakly coupled reaction–diffusion system are similar to that for the corresponding ODE system, that is, linear self-diffusions do not drive instability. Second, using Sobolev embedding theorems and bootstrap arguments, the existence and uniqueness of nonnegative global classical solution for the strongly coupled cross-diffusion system are proved when the space dimension is less than 10. Finally, the existence and uniform boundedness of global solutions and the stability of the positive equilibrium point for the cross-diffusion system are studied when the space dimension is one. It is found that the cross-diffusion system is dissipative if the diffusion matrix is positive definite. Furthermore, cross diffusions cannot induce pattern formation if the linear diffusion rates are sufficiently large.  相似文献

In this paper, a diffusive predator–prey system, in which the prey species exhibits herd behavior and the predator species with quadratic mortality, has been studied. The stability of positive constant equilibrium, Hopf bifurcations, and diffusion‐driven Turing instability are investigated under the Neumann boundary condition. The explicit condition for the occurrence of the diffusion‐driven Turing instability is derived, which is determined by the relationship of the diffusion rates of two species. The formulas determining the direction and the stability of Hopf bifurcations depending on the parameters of the system are derived. Finally, numerical simulations are carried out to verify and extend the theoretical results and show the existence of spatially homogeneous periodic solutions and nonconstant steady states. In a natural ecosystem, specialist predators feed almost exclusively on one specific species of prey which may be possible for a parasitoid. But generalist predators feed on many types of species. It is also well known that the predation rate increases as prey density rises, but eventually levels off due to the predator’s handling time. The response function, thereby, is often assumed to Holling II functional response. In addition, digestion processes of the predation often involve reactions with delays. In view of these facts, a three-species ecosystem with a delay digestion process and Holling functional response is formulated. By analyzing the corresponding characteristic equations, the stability of the equilibria is investigated. Furthermore, Hopf bifurcations occurring at the positive equilibrium under some conditions are demonstrated. The consequence of global stability of the positive equilibrium is that predation will not irreversibly change the system. That is, as long as preys are not made extinct by excessive predation of their predator, the system is able to recover. Numerical simulations are carried out to illustrate our theoretical results. Meanwhile, they indicate that time delay is harmless for permanence of populations even thought it has a tendency to produce oscillations.  相似文献

A reaction‐diffusion two‐predator‐one‐prey system with prey‐taxis describes the spatial interaction and random movement of predator and prey species, as well as the spatial movement of predators pursuing preys. The global existence and boundedness of solutions of the system in bounded domains of arbitrary spatial dimension and any small prey‐taxis sensitivity coefficient are investigated by the semigroup theory. The spatial pattern formation induced by the prey‐taxis is characterized by the Turing type linear instability of homogeneous state; it is shown that prey‐taxis can both compress and prompt the spatial patterns produced through diffusion‐induced instability in two‐predator‐one‐prey systems.  相似文献

In this article, we study the Holling–Tanner predator–prey model with nonlinear diffusion terms under homogeneous Neumann boundary condition. The nonlinear diffusion terms here mean that the prey runs away from the predator, and the predator chases the prey. Nonexistence and existence of nonconstant positive steady states are obtained, which reveal that cross-diffusion can create spatial patterns even when the random diffusion fails to do so. Moreover, asymptotic behaviour of positive solutions as the cross-diffusion tends to ∞ is shown.  相似文献

In this paper, a system of reaction-diffusion equations arising in eco-epidemiological systems is investigated. The equations model a situation in which a predator species and a prey species inhabit the same bounded region and the predator only eats the prey with transmissible diseases. A number of existence and non-existence results about the non-constant steady states of a reaction diffusion system are given. It is proved that if the diffusion coefficient of the predator is treated as bifurcation parameter, non-constant positive steady-state solutions may bifurcate from the constant steady-state solution under some conditions.  相似文献

In this paper, we present a theoretical analysis of processes of pattern formation that involves organisms distribution and their interaction of spatially distributed population with self as well as cross-diffusion in a Beddington–DeAngelis-type predator–prey model. The instability of the uniform equilibrium of the model is discussed, and the sufficient conditions for the instability with zero-flux boundary conditions are obtained. Furthermore, we present novel numerical evidence of time evolution of patterns controlled by self as well as cross-diffusion in the model, and find that the model dynamics exhibits a cross-diffusion controlled formation growth not only to stripes-spots, but also to hot/cold spots, stripes and wave pattern replication. This may enrich the pattern formation in cross-diffusive predator–prey model.  相似文献

Prey-taxis is the process that predators move preferentially toward patches with highest density of prey. It is well known to have an important role in biological control and the maintenance of biodiversity. To model the coexistence and spatial distributions of predator and prey species, this paper concerns nonconstant positive steady states of a wide class of prey-taxis systems with general functional responses over 1D domain. Linearized stability of the positive equilibrium is analyzed to show that prey-taxis destabilizes prey–predator homogeneity when prey repulsion (e.g., due to volume-filling effect in predator species or group defense in prey species) is present, and prey-taxis stabilizes the homogeneity otherwise. Then, we investigate the existence and stability of nonconstant positive steady states to the system through rigorous bifurcation analysis. Moreover, we provide detailed and thorough calculations to determine properties such as pitchfork and turning direction of the local branches. Our stability results also provide a stable wave mode selection mechanism for thee reaction–advection–diffusion systems including prey-taxis models considered in this paper. Finally, we provide numerical studies of prey-taxis systems with Holling–Tanner kinetics to illustrate and support our theoretical findings. Our numerical simulations demonstrate that the \(2\times 2\) prey-taxis system is able to model the formation and evolution of various striking patterns, such as spikes, periodic oscillations, and coarsening even when the domain is one-dimensional. These dynamics can model the coexistence and spatial distributions of interacting prey and predator species. We also give some insights on how system parameters influence pattern formation in these models.  相似文献

The main purpose of this work is to investigate the effects of cross-diffusion in a strongly coupled predator-prey system. By a linear stability analysis we find the conditions which allow a homogeneous steady state (stable for the kinetics) to become unstable through a Turing mechanism. In particular, it is shown that Turing instability of the reaction-diffusion system can disappear due to the presence of the cross-diffusion, which implies that the cross-diffusion induced stability can be regarded as the cross-stability of the corresponding reaction-diffusion system. Furthermore, we consider the existence and non-existence results concerning non-constant positive steady states (patterns) of the system. We demonstrate that cross-diffusion can create non-constant positive steady-state solutions. These results exhibit interesting and very different roles of the cross-diffusion in the formation and the disappearance of the Turing instability.  相似文献

Cross-diffusion effects and tactic interactions are the processes that preys move away from the highest density of predators preferentially, or vice versa. It is renowned that these effects have played significant roles in ecology and biology, which are also essential to the maintenance of diversity of species. To simulate the stability of systems and illustrate their spatial distributions, we consider positive nonconstant steady states of a generalized cross-diffusion model with prey-taxis and general functional responses in one dimension. By applying linear stability theory, we analyze the stability of the interior equilibrium and show that even in the case of negative cross-diffusion rate, which appeared in many models, the corresponding cross-diffusion model has opportunity to achieve its stability. Meanwhile, in addition to the cross-diffusion effect, tactic interactions can also destabilize the homogeneity of predator–prey systems if the tactic interaction coefficient is negative. Otherwise, taxis effects can stabilize the homogeneity.  相似文献
