Sato theory provides a correspondence between solutions to the KP hierarchy and points in an infinite dimensional Grassmannian. In this correspondence, flows generated infinitesimally by powers of the “shift” operator give time dependence to the first coordinate of an arbitrarily selected point, making it a tau-function. These tau-functions satisfy a number of integrable equations, including the Hirota bilinear difference equation (HBDE). Here, we rederive the HBDE as a statement about linear maps between Grassmannians. In addition to illustrating the fundamental nature of this equation in the standard theory, we make use of this geometric interpretation of the HBDE to answer the question of what other infinitesimal generators could be used for similarly creating tau-functions. The answer to this question involves a “rank one condition”, tying this investigation to the existing results on integrable systems involving such conditions and providing an interpretation for their significance in terms of the relationship between the HBDE and the geometry of Grassmannians.  相似文献

Abstract

We obtain the collection of symmetric and symplectic matrix integrals and the collection of Pfaffian tau-functions, recently described by Peng and Adler and van Moerbeke, as specific elements in the Spin-group orbit of the vacuum vector of a fermionic Fock space. This fermionic Fock space is the same space as one constructs to obtain the KP and 1-Toda lattice hierarchy.  相似文献

The direct and the inverse scattering problem for affine Toda/mKdV systems is addressed and is found to develop non-standard features within the framework of the inverse scattering method. A solution scheme based on the tau function formalism is described. The inverse problem is shown to be equivalent to a set of decoupled, scalar Gelfand-Levitan-Marchenko-type equations. The Fredholm-Grothendieck determinants of the latter are shown to define tau-functions in the sense of the Kyoto School. In particular, a simple monodromy formula allows the derivation of trace identities.  相似文献

We extend to the Toda lattice hierarchy the approach of Bertola et al. (Phys D Nonlinear Phenom 327:30–57, 2016; IMRN, 2016) to computation of logarithmic derivatives of tau-functions in terms of the so-called matrix resolvents of the corresponding difference Lax operator. As a particular application we obtain explicit generating series for connected GUE correlators. On this basis an efficient recursive procedure for computing the correlators in full genera is developed.  相似文献

We construct a flat holomorphic line bundle over a connected component of the Hurwitz space of branched coverings of the Riemann sphere P 1. A flat holomorphic connection defining the bundle is described in terms of the invariant Wirtinger projective connection on the branched covering corresponding to a given meromorphic function on a Riemann surface of genus g. In genera 0 and 1 we construct a nowhere vanishing holomorphic horizontal section of this bundle (the ‘Wirtinger tau-function’). In higher genus we compute the modulus square of the Wirtinger tau-function. In particular one gets formulas for the isomonodromic tau-functions of semisimple Frobenius manifolds connected with the Hurwitz spaces H g,N (1,⋯,1). We derive a Toda-type recurrence relation, in both high- and low-temperature regimes, for the λ  -extended diagonal correlation functions C(N,N;λ)C(N,N;λ) of the two-dimensional Ising model, using an earlier connection between diagonal form factor expansions and tau-functions within Painlevé VI (PVI) theory, originally discovered by Jimbo and Miwa. This greatly simplifies the calculation of the diagonal correlation functions, particularly their λ-extended counterparts.  相似文献

In this paper, we present an explicit formula that connects the Kontsevich-Witten tau-function and the Hodge tau-function by differential operators belonging to the \({\widehat{GL(\infty)}}\) group. Indeed, we show that the two tau-functions can be connected using Virasoro operators. This proves a conjecture posted by Alexandrov in (From Hurwitz numbers to Kontsevich-Witten tau-function: a connection by Virasoro operators, Letters in Mathematical physics, doi:10.1007/s11005-013-0655-0, 2014).  相似文献

The tau-function formalism for a class of generalized zero-curvature integrable hierarchies of partial differential equations is constructed. The class includes the Drinfel'd-Sokolov hierarchies. A direct relation between the variables of the zero-curvature formalism and the tau-functions is established. We propose a versatile electrostatic trap scheme using several charged spherical electrodes and a bias electric held.We hrst give the two-ball scheme and derive the analytical solution of the electric held.In order to make a comparison,we also give the numerical solution calculated by the hnite element software(Ansoft Maxwell).Considering the loading of cold polar molecules into the trap,we give the three-ball scheme.We hrst give the analytical and numerical solutions of the distribution of the electric held.Then we simulate the dynamic process of the loading and trapping cold molecules using the classical Monte Carlo method.We analyze the influence of the velocity of the incident molecular beam and the loading time on the loading efficiency.After that,we give the temperature of the trapped cold molecules.Our study shows that the loading efficiency can reach 82%,and the corresponding temperature of the trapped molecules is about 24.6 mK.At last,we show that the single well divides into two ones by increasing the bias electric held or decreasing the voltages applied to the spherical electrodes.  相似文献

The Courant-Friedrichs-Lewy condition (The CFL condition) is appeared in the analysis of the finite difference method applied to linear hyperbolic partial differential equations. We give a remark on the CFL condition from a view point of stability, and we give some numerical experiments which show instability of numerical solutions even under the CFL condition. We extend the operator formulation of strings to the superconformal setting. We give a realization of the supersymmetry ghosts, both in components and in a manifestly supersymmetric formalism. We give a construction for the states associated with super-Riemann surfaces of any genus with any number of punctures in the case of flat 10d spacetime, and from these states construct the measure. As an application we give a very simple, manifestly supersymmetric, derivation of super-holomorphic factorization. We give a mathematical construction of Euclidean quantum field theory on certain curved backgrounds. We focus on generalizing Osterwalder Schrader quantization, as these methods have proved useful to establish estimates for interacting fields on flat space-times. In this picture, a static Killing vector generates translations in Euclidean time, and the role of physical positivity is played by positivity under reflection of Euclidean time. We discuss the quantization of flows which correspond to classical space-time symmetries, and give a general set of conditions which imply that broad classes of operators in the classical picture give rise to well-defined operators on the quantum-field Hilbert space. In particular, Killing fields on spatial sections give rise to unitary groups on the quantum-field Hilbert space, and corresponding densely-defined self-adjoint generators. We construct the Schrödinger representation using a method which involves localizing certain integrals over the full manifold to integrals over a codimension-one submanifold. This method is called sharp-time localization, and implies reflection positivity.  相似文献

We give a general construction for supersymmetric Hamiltonians in quantum mechanics. We find that N-extended supersymmetry imposes very strong constraints, and for N > 4 the Hamiltonian is integrable. The partial transposition (PT) operation is an efficient tool in detecting the inseparability of a mixed state. We give an explicit formula for the PT operation for the continuous variable states in Fock space. We then give the necessary and sufficient condition for the positivity of Gaussian operators. Based on this, a number of criteria on the inseparability and distillability for the multimode Gaussian states are naturally drawn. We finally give an explicit formula for the state in a subspace of a global Gaussian state. This formula, together with the known results for Gaussian states, gives the criteria for the inseparability and distillability in a subspace of the global Gaussian state.  相似文献
