We present phase coherence time measurements in quasi-one-dimensional Ag wires doped with Fe Kondo impurities of different concentrations n_{s}. Because of the relatively high Kondo temperature T_{K} approximately 4.3 K of this system, we are able to explore a temperature range from above T_{K} down to below 0.01T_{K}. We show that the magnetic contribution to the dephasing rate gamma_{m} per impurity is described by a single, universal curve when plotted as a function of T/T_{K}. For T>0.1T_{K}, the dephasing rate is remarkably well described by recent numerical results for spin S=1/2 impurities. At lower temperature, we observe deviations from this theory. Based on a comparison with theoretical calculations for S>1/2, we discuss possible explanations for the observed deviations.  相似文献

Using the spin Hall effect, magnetization relaxation in a Ni_{81}Fe_{19}/Pt film is manipulated electrically. An electric current applied to the Pt layer exerts spin torque on the entire magnetization of the Ni81Fe19 layer via the macroscopic spin transfer induced by the spin Hall effect and modulates the magnetization relaxation in the Ni81Fe19 layer. This method allows us to tune the magnetization dynamics regardless of the film size without applying electric currents directly to the magnetic layer.  相似文献

We have measured the phase decoherence rate tau_{varphi};{-1} of conduction electrons in disordered Ag wires implanted with 2 and 10 ppm Fe impurities, by means of the weak-localization magnetoresistance. The Kondo temperature of Fe in Ag, T_{K} approximately 4 K, is in the ideal temperature range to study the progressive screening of the Fe spins as the temperature T falls below T_{K}. The contribution to tau_{varphi};{-1} from the Fe impurities is clearly visible over the temperature range 40 mK-10 K. Below T_{K}, tau_{varphi};{-1} falls rapidly until T/T_{K} approximately 0.1, in agreement with recent theoretical calculations. At lower T tau_{varphi};{-1} deviates from theory with a flatter T-dependence. Understanding this anomalous dephasing for T/T_{K}<0.1 may require theoretical models with larger spin and number of channels.  相似文献

We report on coherent manipulation of electron spins in an antiferromagnetically coupled spin triangle {Cu3-X} (X=As, Sb) impregnated in freestanding nanoporous silicon (NS) by using 240 GHz microwave pulses. Rabi oscillations are observed and the spin coherence time is found to be T(2)=1066 ns at 1.5 K. This demonstrates that the {Cu3-X}:NS hybrid material provides a promising scheme for implementing spin-based quantum gates. By measuring the spin relaxation times of samples with different symmetries and environments we give evidence that a spin chirality is the main decoherence source of spin triangle molecules.  相似文献

Magnetic susceptibility, NMR, muon spin relaxation, and inelastic neutron scattering measurements show that kapellasite, Cu_{3}Zn(OH)_{6}Cl_{2}, a geometrically frustrated spin-1/2 kagome antiferromagnet polymorphic with herbertsmithite, is a gapless spin liquid showing unusual dynamic short-range correlations of noncoplanar cuboc2 type which persist down to 20?mK. The Hamiltonian is determined from a fit of a high-temperature series expansion to bulk susceptibility data and possesses competing exchange interactions. The magnetic specific heat calculated from these exchange couplings is in good agreement with experiment. The temperature dependence of the magnetic structure factor and the muon relaxation rate are calculated in a Schwinger-boson approach and compared to experimental results.  相似文献

We calculate the electronic band dispersion of graphene monolayer on a two-dimensional transition metal dichalcogenide substrate (GrTMD) around K and \(\mathbf{K}^{\prime }\) points by taking into account the interplay of the ferromagnetic impurities and the substrate-induced interactions. The latter are (strongly enhanced) intrinsic spin–orbit interaction (SOI), the extrinsic Rashba spin–orbit interaction (RSOI) and the one related to the transfer of the electronic charge from graphene to substrate. We introduce exchange field (M) in the Hamiltonian to take into account the deposition of magnetic impurities on the graphene surface. The cavalcade of the perturbations yield particle–hole symmetric band dispersion with an effective Zeeman field due to the interplay of the substrate-induced interactions with RSOI as the prime player. Our graphical analysis with extremely low-lying states strongly suggests the following: The GrTMDs, such as graphene on \(\hbox {WY}_{2}\), exhibit (direct) band-gap narrowing / widening (Moss–Burstein (MB) gap shift) including the increase in spin polarisation (P) at low temperature due to the increase in the exchange field (M) at the Dirac points. The polarisation is found to be electric field tunable as well. Finally, there is anticrossing of non-parabolic bands with opposite spins, the gap closing with same spins, etc. around the Dirac points. A direct electric field control of magnetism at the nanoscale is needed here. The magnetic multiferroics, like \(\hbox {BiFeO}_{3}\) (BFO), are useful for this purpose due to the coupling between the magnetic and electric order parameters.  相似文献

An elastic Ising model for a one-dimensional diatomic spin chain is proposed to explain the ferroelectricity induced by the collinear magnetic order with a low-excited energy state. A statistical theory based on this model is developed to calculate the electrical and magnetic properties of Ca3CoMnO6, a typical quasi-one-dimensional diatomic spin chain system. The calculated ferroelectric polarization and dielectric susceptibility show a good agreement with recently reported data on Ca3Co2-xMnxO6 (x ≈0.96) (Phys. Rev. Lett. 100 047601 (2008)), although the predicted magnetic susceptibility does not coincide well with experiment. We also address the rationality and deficiency of this model by including a first-order correction which improves the consistency between the model and experiment.  相似文献

The single crystals of Nd_(0.5)Pr_(0.5)FeO_3 were successfully grown by optical floating zone method.Room temperature x-ray diffraction and Laue photograph declared the homogeneity and high quality of the crystal. The significant magnetic anisotropy and multiple magnetic transitions illustrate the complex magnetic structure. At high temperatures(T 66 K),it shows the typical characteristics of Γ_4(G_x,A_y,F_z) state. With the decrease of the temperature,it undergoes a first-order spin reorientation transition from Γ_4(G_x,A_y,F_z) to Γ_2(F_x,C_y,G_z) state in the temperature window of 45-66 K under an applied magnetic field of 0.01 T.As the temperature drops to ~17 K,a new magnetic interaction mechanism works, which results in a further enhancement of magnetization. The T-H phase diagram of Nd_(0.5)Pr_(0.5)FeO_3 single crystal was finally constructed.  相似文献

Electron paramagnetic resonance measurements of NiCl2-4SC(NH2)_{2} reveal the low-energy spin dispersion, including a magnetic-field interval in which the two-magnon continuum is within k_{B}T of the ground state, allowing a continuum of excitations over a range of k states, rather than only the k=0 single-magnon excitations. This produces a novel Y shape in the frequency-field EPR spectrum measured at T > or = 1.5 K. Since the interchain coupling J_{ perpendicular}相似文献

We report detailed measurements of the low temperature magnetic phase diagram of Er2Ti2O7. Heat capacity and time-of-flight neutron scattering studies of single crystals reveal unconventional low-energy states. Er3+ magnetic ions reside on a pyrochlore lattice in Er2Ti2O7, where local XY anisotropy and antiferromagnetic interactions give rise to a unique frustrated system. In zero field, the ground state exhibits coexisting short and long-range order, accompanied by soft collective spin excitations previously believed to be absent. The application of finite magnetic fields tunes the ground state continuously through a landscape of noncollinear phases, divided by a zero temperature phase transition at micro{0}H{c} approximately 1.5 T. The characteristic energy scale for spin fluctuations is seen to vanish at the critical point, as expected for a second order quantum phase transition driven by quantum fluctuations.

NMR and NQR spectra and spin-lattice relaxation measurements carried out in LASCO and YBCO-type crystals are presented and analyzed in order to derive insights on the correlations and spin-dynamics of the Cu2+ ions and on the microscopic mechanisms of high-T c superconductivity. As an illustrative example on how the magnetic correlation length and spin dynamics properties can be extracted from the relaxation rateW, the35Cl NMR data in the two-dimensional Heisenberg system Sr2CuCl2O2, around the paramagnetic-antiferromagnetic (PA-AF) transition are first considered. Then the139La NQR relaxation measurements in La2?xSrxCuO4 are briefly reviewed and it is shown how a simple picture of localized Cu2+ magnetic moments, whose spin fluctuation times are controlled by the charge defects induced by the doping, leads in a direct way to quantitative estimates for the progressive shift, on cooling, of the spectral density of the low-frequency spin excitations towards the high frequency range. This phenomenon can be described in terms of effective spin at the Cu2+ ions, and its similarities with the analogous effect of progressive delocalization in Heavy Fermions systems are pointed out. Thus, the superconducting transition appears to occur in an unconventional Fermi liquid with AF correlations among itinerant pseudoparticles, possibly involving a mechanism not directly related to the magnetic correlated dynamics. In fact, a universal behavior of the relaxation rates as a function of temperature is observed, regardless of the transition temperatureT c. The independence ofT c from the low frequency static and dynamical spin properties is also indicated by89Y Knight shifts and from63Cu relaxation rates in systems like YBa2Cu4O8 (Y124), whereT c can be changed by atomic substitutions and by controlling the oxygen stoichiometry. The effect of an external magnetic field on the correlated spin dynamics of the AF Fermi liquid is investigated and from a comparison of Cu NQR relaxation and NMR relaxation in oriented powder of YBCO and LASCO it is shown that the external field has the small but unambiguous effect of depressing the relaxation rates aboveT c, besides strongly enhancing them in the superconducting phase. A maximum in the ratio \({{W\left( {NQR} \right)} \mathord{\left/ {\vphantom {{W\left( {NQR} \right)} {W\left( {\vec H\left\| {\vec c} \right.} \right)}}} \right. \kern-0em} {W\left( {\vec H\left\| {\vec c} \right.} \right)}}\) is thus observed around 80 K, either in LASCO or in YBCO, again indicating that the transition could be driven by a mechanism not directly involving the spin dynamic properties. To study the role of the fluxions belowT c 89Y NMR shifts and spectra in oriented powders of YBCO are analyzed. Information on the spin susceptibility and on the structure of the vortex lattice is obtained. In addition, from the temperature behavior of the linewidth a motional narrowing related to flux melting is evidenced. The effective correlation time for the vortex motion is derived and it is discussed why μ+SR cannot detect it in view of the different rigid-lattice line broadening.  相似文献

Magnetoelectric (ME) properties were investigated for an XY-like spin glass (SG) system, Ni{x}Mn{1-x}TiO{3} with an ilmenite structure. The ME effect is usually observed in systems with peculiar couplings between a crystal lattice and a magnetic order. Nonetheless, we found an antisymmetric ME effect with nonzero ME tensor elements below T{ME}=8-10 K in samples showing SG transitions. At T{ME}, no specific heat anomaly was observed, suggesting the absence of long-range magnetic order. We discuss the origin of the ME effect in the XY-like SG system in terms of an alignment of toroidal moments.  相似文献

We present muSR experiments in the S=3/2 kagomé bilayer compound Ba(2)Sn(2)ZnGa(10-7p)Cr(7p)O22 [BSZCGO(p)] and compare it to the isostructural SrCr(9p)Ga(12-9p)O19 [SCGO(p)], including for the latter new results for p > or =0.89. Quantum-dynamical low energy magnetic excitations are evidenced in this novel compound. We study the evolution of the muon relaxation rate with p, T, and field. A phenomenological model for the muon relaxation based on sporadic dynamics due to spin excitations in a singlet sea proposed by Uemura et al. is extended to all fields and T range. Its connection to the RVB picture is discussed, and we argue that such coherent states might mediate the interactions between "impurities" which induce the spin glass freezing.  相似文献

Nuclear magnetic resonance has been observed on radioactive182Ta and183Ta oriented at low temperature in an Fe host, by detection of the change in spatial anisotropy of γ-rays emitted during nuclear decay. By measuring the resonant frequencies of183Ta in four different applied magnetic fields the nuclear magnetic moment and hyperfine field have been deduced. These are: $$|\mu \left( {{}^{183}Ta; I = \tfrac{\user2{7}}{\user2{2}}} \right)| = 2.28(3)\mu _{\rm N} and B_{hf} \left( {Ta\underline {Fe} at 0 K} \right) = - 67.2(1.3)T$$ . The spin of the ground state of182Ta has been determined asI=3 by comparing resonance results with those obtained in a thermal equilibrium nuclear orientation study. The ratio of the resonant frequencies observed for182Ta and183Ta at one applied field value yields a magnetic moment for the former of $$|\mu \left( {{}^{182}Ta; I = \user2{3}} \right)| = 2.91(3)\mu _{\rm N} $$ . The spin lattice relaxation time for183TaFe (0.12 at% Ta) at 18 mK in an applied field of 0.5 T has been found to be 40(10) s.  相似文献

The effects of microwave pumping with a frequency of 60 GHz on the magneto-optical properties of diluted magnetic semiconductors (DMSs) are studied in (Zn,Mn)Se/(Zn,Be)Se and (Cd,Mn)Te/(Cd,Mg)Te quantum wells. Resonant heating of the Mn2+ ions in the electron spin resonance conditions leads to an increase in the Mn-spin temperature, which exceeds the bath temperature by up to 5.2 K, as detected by the shift of exciton emission line and decrease of its integral intensity. Nonresonant heating mediated by free carriers is also observed through variation of the polarization degree of emission. Direct measurements of spin–lattice relaxation times for both materials using time-resolved optically detected magnetic resonance (ODMR) technique have been performed. The mechanisms of ODMR in nanostructures of DMSs are discussed.  相似文献

We report on the magnetic-field-dependent optically detected magnetic resonance (ODMR) spectra for polycrystalline samples of the bridged Zr(IV) metallocenes, Me2Si<(Cp2)ZrCl2 ( (dimethylsilylbis(cyclopentadienyl)zirconium-dichloride) and Me2C<(Cp2)ZrCl2 (iso-propylidenebis(cyclopentadienyl)zirconium-dichloride). ODMR spectra at zero magnetic field were recorded by frequency sweeping a microwave source from 0.1 to 10 GHz with the sample contained in a microwave helix. ODMR spectra at finite magnetic fields were recorded with the sample contained in either a helix or a slotted-tube resonator with a fixed microwave frequency and sweeping the magnetic field. For all experiments, the sample and microwave probes were contained in an immersion dewar cryostat, and the temperature was held at about 2 K. All three zero field ODMR transitions (2|E|, and |D| − |E| and |D|+|E|) were observed in the frequency-swept ODMR spectra recorded at zero and small magnetic fields. The zero-field frequency-swept spectra allowed the determination ofD andE values uniquely. For frequency-swept small-field ODMR spectra recorded at successively higher magnetic fields, each of the ODMR line intensities was observed to increase with increasing magnetic field. This intensity increase was observed for all three ODMR lines, reflecting an increase in the total intensity rather than simply a change in the polarization of the triplet sublevels. The latter would result in a change in the relative intensities of the ODMR lines but would not change simultaneously the intensities of all three lines. The ODMR line intensities increase in proportion toB n, wheren<1. This field dependence is weaker than the expected proportionalB 2 dependence from the Zeeman effect, which likely originates from the magnetic field dependence of the spin relaxation rates between the triplet sublevels. Magnetic-field-swept ODMR spectra recorded at fixed microwave frequencies in the X-band frequency range (9.8 GHz) do not show all three expected classic Pake powder pattern line shape profiles, exhibited by the molecules with their magneticZ, Y, andX axes parallel to the external magnetic field. In particular, the intensity for molecular magneticY-axes parallel to the external magnetic field is completely suppressed. In addition, an external magnetic field dependence in field-swept ODMR spectra was observed, which results in a linear decrease of the ODMR intensity with increasing strength of the external magnetic field over and above that would be expected in a polycrystalline spectrum. The data are analyzed by simulation of the continuous-wave ESR spectrum with the eigenvalues and eigenvectors of the spin Hamiltonian matrix characterizing the triplet state exhibiting the ODMR spectrum, in conjunction with homotopy, as a function of the orientations of the magnetic axes of the various molecules in a polycrystalline sample. This approach is useful to interpret the experimentally observed ODMR transition frequencies andg-values but does not take the amplitudes in the ODMR spectrum. The corrections required to modify the continuous-wave ESR spectral amplitudes that reproduce the observed ODMR amplitudes are effects associated with the ODMR processes.  相似文献

We present a study of the spin dynamics of magnetic defects induced by Li substitution of the plane Cu in the normal state of YBa2Cu3O6+x. The fluctuations of the coupled Cu magnetic moments in the vicinity of Li are probed by near-neighbor 89Y and 7Li NMR spin lattice relaxation. The data indicate that the magnetic perturbation fluctuates as a single entity with a correlation time tau which scales with the local static susceptibility. This behavior is reminiscent of the low T Kondo state of magnetic impurities in conventional metals. Surprisingly it extends well above the "Kondo" temperature for the underdoped pseudogapped case.  相似文献

Owing to the inhomogeneous state resulting from the doping of a small number of Eu ions into Laa/3Sr5/3Mn2O7, from the resulting single crystal (La0.8Eu0.2)a/3Sr5/3Mn2O7 we have observed the magnetization jump, the resistivity jump, as well as the relaxation phenomena. For (Lao.sEuo.2)a/3Sr5/3Mn2O7, it has a very delicate ground state due to the interplays among spin, charge, orbital, lattice degrees of freedom. Consequently, the magnetization state is sensitive to temperature, magnetic field, as well as time. Meanwhile, the evolution of the magnetization with time shows a spontaneous jump when both the temperature and the magnetic field are constant. Similar step-like behaviours are also observed in resistivity. All these results suggest that Eu doping can greatly modulate the physical properties of Laa/3Sr5/3Mn2O7 and cause such interesting behaviours.  相似文献
