We study Bell-type inequalities of ordern with emphasis on the casen = 2 in the framework of the structure of an orthomodular lattice, which is a logicoalgebraic model of quantum mechanics. We give necessary and sufficient conditions for the validity of Bell-type inequalities of order 2. In particular, we study Bell-type inequalities in various structures connected with a Hilert space, and we give a characterization of Boolean algebras via the validity of certain Bell-type inequalities.  相似文献

The purpose of this paper is to extend Bell's inequalities to obtain some general necessary conditions for the existence of a joint probability distribution for any finite collection of Bell-type random variables. Local Acausality     
A fair amount of recent scholarship has been concerned with correcting a supposedly wrong, but wide-spread, assessment of the consequences of the empirical falsification of Bell-type inequalities. In particular, it has been claimed that Bell-type inequalities follow from “locality tout court” without additional assumptions such as “realism” or “hidden variables”. However, this line of reasoning conflates restrictions on the spatio-temporal relation between causes and their effects (“locality”) and the assumption of a cause for every event (“causality”). It thus fails to recognize a substantial restriction of the class of theories that is falsified through Bell-type inequalities.  相似文献

The problem of Bell-type inequalities on tensor products of quantum logics is studied. To formulate the problem the definition of tensor product used for sum logics by Hudson and Pulmannová is generalized to arbitrary orthomodular lattices and the existence of such product for lattices describing the simplest EPR-Bohm experiment is shown. Dynamics of disentanglement as measured by the tripartite negativity and Bell nonlocality as measured by the extent of violation of the multipartite Bell-type inequalities are investigated in this work. It is shown definitively that for the initial three-qubit Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger (GHZ) or W class state preparation, the Bell nonlocality suffers sudden death under the influence of thermal reservoirs. Moreover, all the Bell-nonlocal states are useful for nonclassical teleportation, while there are entangled states that do not violate any Bell-type inequalities, but still yield nonclassical teleportation fidelity.  相似文献

A review of the tomographic probability representation for qudit sates is presented. Properties of related stochastic matrices are considered. Tomograms of two qubits and three qubits are used to study the Bell-type inequalities. The Bell-type inequalities in the standard classical probability theory are discussed. The structure of Bell-type inequalities detecting genuine multipartite nonlocality, and hence detecting genuine multipartite entanglement, is investigated. We first present a simple and intuitive approach to Svetlichny's original inequality, which provides a clear understanding of its structure and of its violation in quantum mechanics. Based on this approach, we then derive a family of Bell-type inequalities for detecting genuine multipartite nonlocality in scenarios involving an arbitrary number of parties and systems of arbitrary dimension. Finally, we discuss the tightness and quantum mechanical violations of these inequalities.  相似文献

Bell-type inequalities involve coincidence counting rates and are tested in coincidence experiments. Time is ontologically intertwined with the definition of coincidence. An example is proposed in which Bell's inequality is violated by a local model, simply because the interaction between a photon and a photomultiplier is not instantaneous, but requires a finite elapse of time. Models are only illustrative examples and there is no reason why they should reflect reality. We only claim that maybe Bell-type inequalities are not as general as they are supposed to be in ruling out local hidden variable theories.  相似文献

The connection between quantum optical nonclassicality and the violation of Bell's inequalities is explored. Bell type inequalities for the electromagnetic field are formulated for general states (arbitrary number or photons, pure or mixed) of quantised radiation and their violation is connected to other nonclassical properties of the field. Classical states are shown to obey these inequalities and for the family of centered Gaussian states the direct connection between violation of Bell-type inequalities and squeezing is established.  相似文献

Multiqudit systems are studied in the tomographic-probability representation of quantum states. Results of calculations for the Bell-type numbers within the framework of classical probability theory and in quantum tomography are compared. Using NMR techniques, we implemented the simulation of the violations of two Bell-type inequalities: Mermin-Ardehali-Belinskii-Klyshko (MABK) inequality and Chen's inequality, for the 3-qubit generalized GHZ states. The experimental results are in good agreement with the quantum predictions and show that Chen's inequality is more efficient than MABK inequality in the case of the generalized GHZ entangled states.  相似文献

We introduce inequalities for multipartite entanglement, derived from the geometry of spin vectors. The criteria are constructed iteratively from cross and dot products between the spins of individual subsystems, each of which may have arbitrary dimension. For qubit ensembles the maximum violation for our inequalities is larger than that for the Mermin-Klyshko Bell inequalities, and the maximally violating states are different from Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger states. Our inequalities are violated by certain bound entangled states for which no Bell-type violation has yet been found.  相似文献

The method of transfer functions is developed as a tool for studying Bell inequalities, alternative quantum theories and the associated physical properties of quantum systems. Non-negative probabilities for transfer functions result in Bell-type inequalities. The method is used to show that all realistic Lorentz-invariant quantum theories, which give unique results and have no preferred frame, can be ruled out on the grounds that they lead to weak backward causality.  相似文献

A family of local models containing two angles as hidden variables is defined for experiments measuring polarization correlation of optical photons. Searching for the best model of the family, that is giving predictions most close to quantum mechanics, allows deriving Bell-type inequalities which may be tested with relatively low detection efficiency.  相似文献
