4 new model, phase equilibrium-kinetics model (PEKM), for estimation of diffusioncoefficient was proposed in this paper. Kinetic experiments of phenol desorption on NKAII resin inthe presence and the absence of ultrasound were separately conducted, and diffusion coefficients ofphenol within an adsorbent particle were estimated by means of proposed PEKM and classicsimplified model. Results show that the use of ultrasound not only changes the phase equilibriumstate of NKAll resin/phenol/water system which had been equilibrium at normal condition, but alsoenhances diffusion of phenol within the resin. The diffusion coefficient of phenol in the resin in thefield of ultrasound increases in an order of magnitude in comparison with the diffusion coefficientdetermined under no ultrasound Experimental results also indicated that the diffusion coefficientsestimated by PEKM were more accurate than that estimated by the classic simplified model.  相似文献

Steam activated carbons from oil-palm shells were prepared and used in the adsorption of phenol. The activated carbon had a well-developed mesopore structure which accounted for 45% of the total pore volume. The BET surface area of the activated carbon was 1183 m2/g and a total pore volume of 0.69 cm3/g using N2 adsorption at 77 K. The adsorption capacity of the activated carbon for phenol was 319 mg/g of adsorbent at 298 K. The adsorption isotherms could be described by both the Langmuir-Freundlich and the Langmuir equations. The adsorption kinetics consisted of a rapid initial uptake phase, followed by a slow approach to equilibrium. A new multipore model is proposed that takes into account of a concentration dependent surface diffusion coefficient within the particle. This model is an improvement to the traditional branched pore model. The theoretical concentration versus time curve generated by the proposed model fitted the experimental data for phenol adsorption reasonably well. Phenol adsorption tests were also carried out on a commercial activated carbon known as Calgon OLC Plus 12×30 and the agreement between these adsorption data and the proposed model was equally good.  相似文献

Tracer diffusion coefficients of phenol, toluene, and benzoic acid in aqueous solutions of sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) were measured by the Taylor dispersion technique. In addition, the viscosities and densities of the SDS solutions were measured. For phenol and toluene, the effect of micelle formation on the diffusion coefficient is pronounced. When the SDS concentration is below the critical micelle concentration (cmc), the diffusion coefficients are almost independent of the SDS concentration. However, above the cmc there is a rapid decrease in the diffusion coefficients, and the apparent diffusion coefficients of the two solutes are the weighted average of free solute diffusion and the micelle diffusion. A model is presented to describe the diffusion behavior of the two solutes in aqueous micellar solutions of SDS. The interaction between the two solutes and the micelles has been investigated and the fraction of each solute that is solubilized by the micelles is estimated from the measured apparent diffusion coefficient. For benzoic acid, the diffusion coefficient is dependent on the joint contribution of the benzoic acid molecules that are solubilized by the micelles as well as the corresponding benzoate ions. The effect of micelle formation on the diffusion coefficient of benzoic acid is not as pronounced as for phenol and toluene. Copyright 2000 Academic Press.  相似文献

The removal of phenol from aqueous solution was evaluated by using a nonfunctionalized hyper-cross-linked polymer Macronet MN200 and two ion exchange resins, Dowex XZ (strong anion exchange resin) and AuRIX 100 (weak anion exchange). Equilibrium experimental data were fitted to the Langmuir and Freundlich isotherms at different pHs. The Langmuir model describes successfully the phenol removal onto the three resins. The extent of the phenol adsorption was affected by the pH of the solution; thus, the nonfunctionalized resin reported the maximum loading adsorption under acidic conditions, where the molecular phenol form predominates. In contrast both ion exchange resins reported the maximum removal under alkaline conditions where the phenolate may be removed by a combined effect of both adsorption and ion exchange mechanisms. A theoretical model proposed in the literature was used to fit the experimental data and a double contribution was observed from the parameters obtained by the model. Kinetic experiments under different initial phenol concentrations and under the best pH conditions observed in the equilibrium experiments were performed. Two different models were used to define the controlling mechanism of the overall adsorption process: the homogeneous particle diffusion model and the shell progressive model fit the kinetic experimental data and determined the resin phase mechanism as the rate-limiting diffusion for the phenol removal. Resins charged after the kinetic experiments were further eluted by different methods. Desorption of nonfunctionalized resin was achieved by using the solution (50% v/v) of methanol/water with a recovery close to 90%. In the case of the ion exchange resins the desorption process was performed at different pHs and considering the effect of the competitive ion Cl. The desorption processes were controlled by the ion exchange mechanism for Dowex XZ and AuRIX 100 resins; thus, no significant effect for the addition of Cl under acidic conditions was observed, while under alkaline conditions the total recovery increased, specially for Dowex XZ resin.  相似文献

The parameter identification model is proposed for determining the linear adsorption isotherms and the solid diffusion coefficients by using adsorption chromatorgaphy.Axial dispersion coefficients is firstly determined by pulse-respond experiment technique with an inert substance as tracer,then the elution curves of chromatography separating the isomer mannitol and sorbitol are determined by the chromatographic measuring technique,and pinally the adsorption isotherms and the solid diffusion coefficients of mannitol and sorbitol on Ca^2+ resins are estimated by using this model.The results show that the axial dispersion coefficients increase with fluid velocity increasing,The adsorption equilibrium constants decrease with temperature rising;and the solid diffusion coefficients increase with temperature rising.The theoretical elution curves are good agreement with the experimental elution curves of the liquid adsorption chromatography separating the mannitol and the sorbitol.The model provides a simple and reliable procedure to estimate the kinetic and thermodynamic parmeters of the adsorption.  相似文献

测定了常规条件和超声场条件下苯酚在活性炭上的吸附等温线,并研究了超声再生活性炭和均相催化剂氧化降解苯酚实验.研究结果表明,超声场作用下苯酚在活性炭上的吸附等温线降低,平衡吸附量减少,被脱附下来的苯酚及时被Cu2 和Fe3 型催化剂氧化降解,吸附剂得到更彻底再生,避免了二次污染,而且再生后的活性炭均具有较高的二次吸附能力,对于处理低浓度含酚废水具有实际意义.  相似文献

The aim of this study is to check if it is possible to use the combined diffusion coefficients introduced by Murphy at equilibrium in a two-temperature model (electron temperature Te different from that of heavy species Th), such as that defined by Devoto and Bonnefoi for transport properties. On the one hand, the two-temperature (2-T) theory of transport properties was established by Devoto and Bonnefoi by separating electrons and heavy species because of their mass difference. Their simplified theories allow the calculation of transport coefficients (except diffusion) out of thermal equilibrium, but it has to be noted that when Te tends toward Th, the results are those obtained with an equilibrium calculation. On the other hand, Murphy's combined diffusion coefficients describe the diffusive mixing of two nonreactive ionized gases at equilibrium. First, the exact combined diffusion coefficients of Murphy are calculated for an Ar–N2 (50 wt.%) mixture at atmospheric pressure. Expressions of combined diffusion coefficients are then obtained by using the simplified theory of Bonnefoi at thermal equilibrium. The results of the calculation of combined diffusion coefficients from the simplified theory of transport properties, assuming Te=Th, are compared with those of Murphy at equilibrium. It is shown that large discrepancies occur as soon as the ionization degree is over 10%. These results prove that the simplified 2-T theory of transport coefficients cannot be used for the treatment of diffusion, probably because the mass flux of electrons is no longer constrained. Thus, a new theory of transport coefficients has to be developed, taking into account the coupling of electrons and heavy species.  相似文献

The adsorption equilibrium and kinetics of single and binary component copper ions and phenol onto powdered activated carbon (PAC), alginate beads and alginate-activated carbon beads (AAC) were studied. Adsorption equilibrium data for single component copper ions and phenol onto the adsorbents could be represented by the Langmuir equation. Multicomponent equilibrium data were correlated by the extended Langmuir and ideal adsorbed solution theory (IAST). The IAST gave the best fit to our data. The amount of copper ions adsorbed onto the AAC beads in the binary component was greater than that of phenol. The internal diffusion coefficients were determined by comparing the experimental concentration curves with those predicted from surface diffusion and pore diffusion model.  相似文献

The applicability of simplified models for the determination of ion exchange diffusion coefficients in zeolites is examined. The simplified models examined are Vermeulen's, Paterson's, and Nernst-Plank's approximations for isotopic and ion exchange processes, used in ion exchange systems analysis. Parameter analysis indicates the limits for fractional attainment of equilibrium U(t), the ratio of exchangeable ions in liquid to solid phase (w), and the ratio of surface diffusion coefficients of exchangeable ions (a), all clearly inter-related, within which the above-mentioned simplified models can be successfully used. Studies of the applicability of the isotopic exchange simplified models to experimental data for batch-type Na(+)-Pb(2+) exchange on clinoptilolite confirm the parameter analysis conducted. Glycidylmethacrylate was grafted to Toyopearl HW-65M and subsequently modified with diethylamine to obtain a weak anion exchanger. The degree of grafting was varied from 11 to 50%. The binding capacity for bovine serum albumin was 11 mg/ml for the lowest degree of grafting and 97 mg/ml for the highest degree of grafting. The maximum binding capacity was observed at 27% degree of grafting. The mass transfer properties of the grafted resins and an ungrafted resin(Toyopearl DEAE 650M) were investigated assuming rectangular isotherms. Simple models for reaction kinetics, pore- and surface diffusion and film diffusion were used to describe the concentration-time data in batch mode. The data were best fitted by a pore diffusion model. The estimated pore diffusion coefficients (D(P)) for bovine serum albumin were fitted by a polynome to the degree of grafting with an maximum value at 27% of D(P) = 1.95-10(-11) m2/s. Compared to published data of other ungrafted resins and to the molecular diffusion coefficient of bovine serum albumin in free solution of D(P) = 5.6 10(-11) m2/s, the diffusion in grafted layers seems to be accelerated. The breakthrough curves for columns packed with various resins showed a decrease in sharpness with increasing degree of grafting which could not be described by a simple pore diffusion model using the calculated transport coefficients from batch mode. The shape of the breakthrough curves could be well described by a combined film and pore diffusion model. For the ungrafted Toyopearl DEAE 650M resin the breakthrough curve is more favorable and the influence of film diffusion to the mass transfer is reduced. It can be concluded that grafting will increase the capacity and the pore diffusion in batch mode but in column operation the grafting layer has a film resistance which plays an important role in the overall mass transfer.  相似文献

Diffusion is a dominant mechanism regulating the transport of released nuclides. The through-diffusion method is typically applied to determine the diffusion coefficients (D). Depending on the design of the experiment, the concentrations in the source term [i.e., inlet reservoir (IR)] or the end term [i.e., outlet reservoir (OR)] can be fixed or vary. The combinations involve four distinct models (i.e., the CC–CC model, CC–VC model, VC–CC model, and the VC–VC model). Studies discussing the VC–CC model are scant. An analytical method considering the decay effect is required to accurately interpret the radioactive nuclide diffusion experiment results. Therefore, we developed a CC–CC model and a CC–VC model with a decay effect and the simplified formulas of these two models to determine the diffusion coefficient (i.e., the CC–CC method and CC–VC method). We also proposed two simplified methods using the VC–VC model to determine the diffusion coefficient straightforwardly based upon the concentration variation in IR and OR. More importantly, the best advantage of proposed method over others is that one can derive three diffusion coefficients based on one run of experiment. In addition, applying our CC–VC method to those data reported from Radiochemica Acta 96:111–117, 2008; and J Contam Hydrol 35:55–65, 1998, derived comparable diffusion coefficient lying in the identical order of magnitude. Furthermore, we proposed a formula to determine the conceptual critical time (Tc), which is particularly beneficial for the selection of using CC–VC or VC–VC method. Based on our proposed method, it becomes possible to calculate diffusion coefficient from a through-diffusion experiment in a shorter period of time.  相似文献

A model of diffusive transport of benzoic acid through a liquid membrane (LM) separating two aqueous solutions, based on diffusion layers and the assumption of a steady state, has been developed and tested using experimental results. It has been found that a model with the apparent partition coefficient dependent on the concentration is able to describe the time dependence of acid concentration in LM with and without a maximum on that dependence. The quality of the model fit with the single apparent diffusion coefficient of benzoic acid is the same as the one which takes into account the diffusion of benzoic acid in different forms (undissociated and dissociated form in aqueous phase, monomer and dimer in organic phase); however, in the second case, the model becomes overparameterized. Assuming that the partition and diffusion coefficients are constant, the diffusion layer model corresponds to the model of reversible consecutive reactions. Analytical solution for such case is given. Apart from the partition equilibrium, also kinetics of partitioning was considered. It was shown that in some basic situations both cases yield identical results.  相似文献

Adsorption of human immunoglobulin G (IgG) on a commercial cation exchanger with a grafted polymer layer was investigated at pH 4.5 and in the NaCl concentration range of 0–150 mM. Adsorption equilibrium was determined in static batch experiments and verified in batch uptake experiments. Parameters of the Langmuir isotherm were estimated for each salt concentration separately. The batch uptake experiments provided also the estimates of effective pore diffusion coefficients of IgG for individual protein and salt concentrations. The values of the effective pore diffusion coefficient depended strongly on both factors. They increased by about 5–15 times with the NaCl concentration and decreased about three times with the protein concentration. The quality of the estimated parameters was confirmed by frontal experiments described by the general rate model of chromatography.  相似文献

The concentration decay curves for the adsorption of phenol on organobentonite were obtained in an agitated tank batch adsorber. The experimental adsorption rate data were interpreted with diffusional models as well as first-order, second-order and Langmuir kinetic models. The surface diffusion model adjusted the data quite well, revealing that the overall rate of adsorption was controlled by surface diffusion. Furthermore, the surface diffusion coefficient increased raising the mass of phenol adsorbed at equilibrium and was independent of the particle diameter in the range 0.042-0.0126 cm. It was demonstrated that the overall rate of adsorption was essentially not affected by the external mass transfer. The second-order and the Langmuir kinetic models fitted the experimental data quite well; however, the kinetic constants of both models varied without any physical meaning while increasing the particle size and the mass of phenol adsorbed at equilibrium.  相似文献

The electrochemical properties of a perfluorosulfonic acid (PFSA) membrane are estimated using a combination of molecular dynamics simulation and statistical thermodynamic model. We obtain all parameters in an ionic conductivity model from an atomistic simulation and remove all adjusted model parameters. From a microscopic point of view, the hydrated PFSA membrane shows micro‐phase segregation which separated into hydrophilic and hydrophobic phases. Our present work originates with this phenomenon and we treat this phase segregation as if it is a continuous phase for each of which the proton (H+) is transported inside the PFSA membrane/solvent (water and alcohols) mixture. The chemical potential for a given system is estimated using a molecular simulation technique to predict the van der Waals interaction energy between the polymer and solvent. In addition, the self diffusion coefficients are calculated from the molecular dynamics simulation. We study various polymer/solvent compositions to understand the concentration dependence of self diffusion coefficient. Our self diffusion coefficients and also the predicted final ionic conductivity agree well with previously reported experimental data. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A simple and reliable ultrasound‐assisted solid‐phase dispersion extraction coupled with ion chromatography was developed for the determination of aminophenols and phenol. The highly viscous hair colorant was dispersed in solvents using anhydrous sodium sulfite having dual functions of dispersant and antioxidant. The use of anhydrous sodium sulfite did not change the sample volume because it could completely dissolve in solution after matrix dispersion. The extraction and cleanup were combined in one single step for simplifying operation. The extraction process could be rapidly accomplished within 9 min with high sample throughput under the synergistic effects of vibration, ultrasound, and heating. Satisfactory linearity was observed with correlation coefficients higher than 0.9992, and the limits of detection varied from 0.02 to 0.09 mg/L. The applicability of the proposed method was demonstrated by measuring the concentrations of aminophenols and phenol in 32 different commercial hair color products. The recoveries ranged from 86.4–101.2% with the relative standard deviations in the range of 0.52–4.3%. The method offers an attractive alternative for the analysis of trace phenols in complex matrices.  相似文献

Experiments for determining cerium isotope ion exchange rates with macroporous resins Amberlyst 15,D001 and XN1010 are discribed.The kinetics of the isotope ion exchange reaction has been examined by a simple theoretical equation of intraparticle effective diffustivity De in a porous ion exchanger.The ion exchange proceedes by diffusion within the macropores and the solid phase of the resin,De of cerium was affected by the concentration of the bulk solution C and was separated into a macropore diffusivity D^-p and a solid phase diffusivity D^-g by the equation.The diffusion coefficients of the exchanging ion are shown to have the values in the macropores comparable with those in the bulk solution and to have the values in the solid phase comparable with those in gel resin with the same crosslinkage as the resins used for the experiments.  相似文献
