On positive solutions for some semilinear periodic parabolic eigenvalue problems

For a bounded domain Ω in , N?2, satisfying a weak regularity condition, we study existence of positive and T-periodic weak solutions for the periodic parabolic problem Lu_λ=λg(x,t,u_λ) in , u_λ=0 on . We characterize the set of positive eigenvalues with positive eigenfunctions associated, under the assumptions that g is a Caratheodory function such that ξ→g(x,t,ξ)/ξ is nonincreasing in (0,∞) a.e. satisfying some integrability conditions in (x,t) and

     

The asymptotic behaviour of solutions with blow-up at the boundary for semilinear elliptic problems

By constructing the comparison functions and the perturbed method, it is showed that any solution u∈C²(Ω) to the semilinear elliptic problems Δu=k(x)g(u), x∈Ω, u_|∂Ω=+∞ satisfies , where Ω is a bounded domain with smooth boundary in RN; , −2<σ, c₀>0, ; g∈C¹[0,∞), g?0 and is increasing on (0,∞), there exists ρ>0 such that , ∀ξ>0, , .     

The exact asymptotic behaviour of the unique solution to a singular nonlinear Dirichlet problem

By Karamata regular varying theory, a perturbed argument and constructing comparison functions, we show the exact asymptotic behaviour of the unique solution near the boundary to a singular Dirichlet problem −Δu=b(x)g(u)+λf(u), u>0, x∈Ω, u_|∂Ω=0, which is independent on λf(u), and we also show the existence and uniqueness of solutions to the problem, where Ω is a bounded domain with smooth boundary in RN, λ>0, g∈C¹((0,∞),(0,∞)) and there exists γ>1 such that , ∀ξ>0, , the function is decreasing on (0,∞) for some s₀>0, and b is nonnegative nontrivial on Ω, which may be vanishing on the boundary.     

Polynomials of Meixner's type in infinite dimensions—Jacobi fields and orthogonality measures

The classical polynomials of Meixner's type—Hermite, Charlier, Laguerre, Meixner, and Meixner-Pollaczek polynomials—are distinguished through a special form of their generating function, which involves the Laplace transform of their orthogonality measure. In this paper, we study analogs of the latter three classes of polynomials in infinite dimensions. We fix as an underlying space a (non-compact) Riemannian manifold X and an intensity measure σ on it. We consider a Jacobi field in the extended Fock space over L²(X;σ), whose field operator at a point x∈X is of the form , where λ is a real parameter. Here, ∂_x and are, respectively, the annihilation and creation operators at the point x. We then realize the field operators as multiplication operators in , where is the dual of , and μ_λ is the spectral measure of the Jacobi field. We show that μ_λ is a gamma measure for |λ|=2, a Pascal measure for |λ|>2, and a Meixner measure for |λ|<2. In all the cases, μ_λ is a Lévy noise measure. The isomorphism between the extended Fock space and is carried out by infinite-dimensional polynomials of Meixner's type. We find the generating function of these polynomials and using it, we study the action of the operators ∂_x and in the functional realization.     

Local smoothing property and Strichartz inequality for Schrödinger equations with potentials superquadratic at infinity

We study smoothing properties for time-dependent Schrödinger equations , , with potentials which satisfy V(x)=O(|x|^m) at infinity, m?2. We show that the solution u(t,x) is 1/m times differentiable with respect to x at almost all , and explain that this is the result of the fact that the sojourn time of classical particles with energy λ in arbitrary compact set is less than CTλ^−1/m during [0,T] when λ is very large. We also show Strichartz's inequality with derivative loss for such potentials and give its application to nonlinear Schrödinger equations.     

Nodal and positive solutions for singular semilinear elliptic equations with critical exponents in symmetric domains

In this paper, we consider the semilinear elliptic problem in Ω, u=0 on ∂Ω, where Ω is a smooth bounded domain in RN, N?4, , is the critical Sobolev exponent, K(x) is a continuous function. When Ω and K(x) are invariant under a group of orthogonal transformations, we prove the existence of nodal and positive solutions for 0<λ<λ₁, where λ₁ is the first Dirichlet eigenvalue of on Ω.     

Some classes of non-analytic Markov semigroups

We deal with Markov semigroups T_t corresponding to second order elliptic operators Au=Δu+〈Du,F〉, where F is an unbounded locally Lipschitz vector field on . We obtain new conditions on F under which T_t is not analytic in . In particular, we prove that the one-dimensional operator Au=u″−x³u′, with domain , , is not sectorial in . Under suitable hypotheses on the growth of F, we introduce a class of non-analytic Markov semigroups in , where μ is an invariant measure for T_t.

A contraction of square transversal designs

In this paper we show that if a square transversal design TD_λ[k;u], say D(=(P,B)), admits a class semiregular automorphism group G of order s, then we have a by matrix M with entries from G∪{0} satisfying , where , if i=j, and , otherwise. As an application of (*), we show that any symmetric TD₂[12;6] admits no nontrivial elation. We also obtain a result that gives us a restriction on the existence of elations of putative projective planes of composite order.
