The equations describing the three-dimensional equatorial dynamics of an ideal electrically conducting inhomogeneous rotating fluid are studied. The magnetic and velocity fields are represented as superpositions of unperturbed steady-state fields and those induced by wave motion. As a result, after introducing two auxiliary functions, the equations are reduced to a special scalar one. Based on the study of this equation, the solvability of initial-boundary value problems arising in the theory of waves propagating in a spherical layer of an electrically conducting density-inhomogeneous rotating fluid in an equatorial zone is analyzed. Particular solutions of the scalar equation are constructed that describe small-amplitude wave propagation.  相似文献

A system of nonlinear partial differential equations is considered that models perturbations in a layer of an ideal electrically conducting rotating fluid bounded by spatially and temporally varying surfaces with allowance for inertial forces. The system is reduced to a scalar equation. The solvability of initial boundary value problems arising in the theory of waves in conducting rotating fluids can be established by analyzing this equation. Solutions to the scalar equation are constructed that describe small-amplitude wave propagation in an infinite horizontal layer and a long narrow channel.  相似文献

Propagation of small perturbations in a two-layer inviscid fluid rotating at a constant angular velocity is studied. It is assumed that the lower density fluid occupies the upper unbounded half-space, while the higher density fluid occupies the lower unbounded half-space. The source of excitation is a plane wave traveling along the interface of the fluids. An explicit analytical solution to the problem is constructed, and its existence and uniqueness are proved. The long-time wave pattern developing in the fluids is analyzed.  相似文献

The steady Von Kármán flow and heat transfer of a non-Newtonian fluid is extended to the case where the disk surface admits partial slip. The constitutive equation of the non-Newtonian fluid is modeled by that for a Reiner-Rivlin fluid. The momentum equations give rise to highly nonlinear boundary value problem. Numerical solutions for the governing nonlinear equations are obtained over the entire range of the physical parameters. The effects of slip and non-Newtonian fluid characteristics on the velocity and temperature fields have been discussed in detail and shown graphically.  相似文献

The rotating flow in the presence of a magnetic field is a problem belonging to hydromagnetics and deserves to be more widely studied than it has been to date. In the non‐linear regime the literature is scarce. We develop the governing equations for the unsteady hydromagnetic rotating flow of a fourth‐order fluid past a porous plate. The steady flow is governed by a boundary value problem in which the order of differential equations is more than the number of available boundary conditions. It is shown that by augmenting the boundary conditions based on asymptotic structures at infinity it is possible to obtain numerical solutions of the nonlinear hydromagnetic equations. Effects of uniform suction or blowing past the porous plate, exerted magnetic field and rotation on the flow phenomena, especially on the boundary layer structure near the plate, are numerically analysed and discussed. The flow behaviours of the Newtonian fluid and second‐, third‐ and fourth‐order non‐Newtonian fluids are compared for the special flow problem, respectively. Present study deals with the steady flow and heat transfer of a non‐Newtonian Reiner‐Rivlin fluid between two coaxially rotating infinite disks. Using similarity transformations, the governing equations are reduced to a set of nonlinear, highly coupled ordinary differential equations and by means of an effective analytical method called homotopy analysis method; analytical solutions are constructed in series form. Different cases, such as, when one disk is at rest and the other is rotating with constant angular velocity, two disks rotating with different angular velocities in same as well as opposite sense, two disks rotating with same angular velocities in opposite sense, are discussed. The effects of non‐Newtonian parameter, Reynolds number, are also discussed, and results are presented graphically.  相似文献

A theory of the scattering of electromagnetic waves by homogeneous spheres, the so-called Mie theory, is presented in a unique and coherent manner in this paper. We begin with Maxwell's equations, from which the vector wave equations are derived and solved by means of the two orthogonal solutions to the scalar wave equation. The transverse incident electric field is mapped in spherical coordinates and expanded in known mathematical functions satisfying the scalar wave equation. Determination of the unknown coefficients in the scattered and internal fields is achieved by matching the electromagnetic boundary conditions on the surface of a sphere. Far-field solutions for the electric field are then given in terms of the scattering functions. Transformation of the electric field to the reference plane containing incident and scattered waves is carried out. Extinction parameters and the phase matrix are derived from the electric field perpendicular and parallel to the reference plane. On the basis of the independent-scattering assumption, the theory is extended to cases involving a sample of homogeneous spheres.  相似文献

The scattering of electromagnetic waves by a homogeneous sphere near a plane boundary is presented in this paper. The vector wave equations derived from Maxwell’s equations are solved by means of the two orthogonal solutions to the scalar wave equation. Hankel transformation and Erdélyi’s formula are used to satisfy the planar boundary conditions and the determination of the unknown coefficients in the scattered field and internal fields is achieved by matching the electromagnetic boundary conditions on the surface of the sphere. Existence and uniqueness of the solution of the series involving these unknown coefficients are shown.  相似文献

In the paper, we investigate the basic transmission problems arising in the model of fluid‐solid acoustic interaction when a piezo‐ceramic elastic body ( Ω + ) is embedded in an unbounded fluid domain ( Ω ? ). The corresponding physical process is described by boundary‐transmission problems for second order partial differential equations. In particular, in the bounded domain Ω + , we have 4 × 4 dimensional matrix strongly elliptic second order partial differential equation, while in the unbounded complement domain Ω ? , we have a scalar Helmholtz equation describing acoustic wave propagation. The physical kinematic and dynamic relations mathematically are described by appropriate boundary and transmission conditions. With the help of the potential method and theory of pseudodifferential equations, the uniqueness and existence theorems are proved in Sobolev–Slobodetskii spaces. The present work investigates the effects of disks contracting, rotation and heat transfer on the viscous fluid between heated contracting rotating disks. By introducing the Von Kármán type similarity transformations through which we reduced the highly nonlinear partial differential equation to a system of ordinary differential equations. This system of differential equations with appropriate boundary conditions is responsible for the flow behavior between large but finite coaxial rotating and heated disks. It is important to note that the lower disk is rotating with angular velocity Ω while the upper one with , the disks are also contracting and the temperatures of the upper and lower disks are T1 and T0, respectively. The agents which driven the flow are the contraction and also the rotation of the disks. On the other hand the velocity components and especially radial component of velocity strongly influence the temperature distribution inside the flow regime. The basic equations which govern the flow are the Navier Stokes equations with well known continuity equation for incompressible flow. The final system of ordinary differential equations is then solved numerically with given boundary conditions. In addition, the effect of physical parameters, the Reynolds number (Re), the wall contraction ratio (γ) and the rotation ratio (S) on the velocity and pressure gradient, as well as, the effect of Prandtl number (Pr) on temperature distribution are also observed.  相似文献

计算机符号运算科学是人工智能的前沿方向。计算机软件Macsyma是完成符号运算的有力工具。应用德国Darmstadt大学的计算机软件Macsyma、与数学方法和流变学模型结合,研究了Oldroyd B流体由一类定常状态向另一定常状态转变的非定常流动过程。采用改进的Kantorovich方法和符号运算软件,把该问题的3阶偏微分方程的初、边值问题化为各级近似的2阶常微分方程问题。并给出了1级、2级和3级近似方程的解析形式解答。该研究表明了计算机符号处理解决应用数学和力学问题的潜力,同时指出了由一定常状态向另一定常状态转变的非牛顿流动过程,可以经历无限多途径,这一现象是由于本构方程的非线性性质引起的。  相似文献

The aim of the study is to examine the stagnation point flow of a dusty Casson fluid over a stretching sheet with thermal radiation and buoyancy effects. The governing boundary layer equations are represented by a system of partial differential equation. After applying suitable similarity transformations, the resulting boundary layer equations are solved numerically using the Runge Kutta Fehlberg fourth-fifth order method (RKF-45 method). The behaviors of velocity, temperature and concentration profiles of fluid and dusty particles with respect to change in fluid particle interaction parameter, Casson paramter, Grashof number, radiation parameter, Prandtl number, number density, thermal equilibrium time, relaxation time, specific heat of fluid and dusty particles, ratio of diffusion coefficients, Schmidt number and Eckert number are analysed graphically and discussed. Our computed results interpret that velocity distribution decays for higher estimation of Casson parameter while temperature distribution shows increasing behavior for larger radiation parameter.  相似文献

By using the conformal method, solutions of the Einstein-scalar field gravitational constraint equations are obtained. Handling scalar fields is a bit more challenging than handling matter fields such as fluids, Maxwell fields or Yang-Mills fields, because the scalar field introduces three extra terms into the Lichnerowicz equation, rather than just one. The proofs are constructive and allow for arbitrary dimension (> 2) as well as low regularity initial data.  相似文献

We discuss the propagation of a running crack under shear waves in a rigorous mathematical way for a simplified model. This model is described by two coupled equations in the actual configuration: a two-dimensional scalar wave equation in a cracked bounded domain and an ordinary differential equation derived from an energy balance law. The unknowns are the displacement fields u = u (y, t) and the one-dimensional crack tip trajectory h = h (t). We handle both equations separately, assuming at first that the crack position is known. Existence and uniqueness of strong solutions of the wave equation are studied and the crack-tip singularities are derived under the assumption that the crack is straight and moves tangentially. Using an energy balance law and the crack tip behaviour of the displacement fields we finally arrive at an ordinary differential equation for h (t), called equation of motion for the crack tip.
