The 0 K dissociative ionization onsets of C2H3X --> C2H3(+) + X (X = Cl, I) are measured by threshold photoelectron-photoion coincidence spectroscopy. The heats of formation of C2H3Cl (Delta H(f,0K)(0) = 30.2 +/- 3.2 kJ mol(-1) and Delta(H f,298K)(0) = 22.6 +/- 3.2 kJ mol(-1)) and C2H3I (Delta(H f,0K)(0) = 140.2 +/- 3.2 kJ mol(-1) and Delta(H f,298K)(0) = 131.2 +/- 3.2 kJ mol(-1)) and C- X bond dissociation enthalpies as well as those of their ions are determined. The data help resolve a longstanding discrepancy among experimental values of the vinyl chloride heat of formation, which now agrees with the latest theoretical determination. The reported vinyl iodide heat of formation is the first reliable experimental determination. Additionally, the adiabatic ionization energy of C2H3I (9.32 +/- 0.01 eV) is measured by threshold photoelectron spectroscopy.  相似文献

Alkylamines (RCH(2)NH(2), R = H, CH(3), C(2)H(5), C(3)H(7), i-C(3)H(7)) have been investigated by dissociative photoionization by threshold photoelectron photoion coincidence spectroscopy (TPEPICO). The 0 K dissociation limits (9.754 +/- 0.008, 9.721 +/- 0.008, 9.702 +/- 0.012, and 9.668 +/- 0.012 eV for R = CH(3), C(2)H(5), C(3)H(7), i-C(3)H(7), respectively) have been determined by preparing energy-selected ions and collecting the fractional abundances of parent and daughter ions. All alkylamine cations produce the methylenimmonium ion, CH(2)NH(2)+, and the corresponding alkyl free radical. Two isodesmic reaction networks have also been constructed. The first one consists of the alkylamine parent molecules, and the other of the alkyl radical photofragments. Reaction heats within the isodesmic networks have been calculated at the CBS-APNO and W1U levels of theory. The two networks are connected by the TPEPICO dissociation energies. The heats of formation of the amines and the alkyl free radicals are then obtained by a modified least-squares fit to minimize the discrepancy between the TPEPICO and the ab initio values. The analysis of the fit reveals that the previous experimental heats of formation are largely accurate, but certain revisions are suggested. Thus, Delta(f)Ho(298K)[CH(3)NH(2)(g)] = -21.8 +/- 1.5 kJ mol-1, Delta(f)Ho(298K)[C(2)H(5)NH(2)(g)] = -50.1 +/- 1.5 kJ mol(-1), Delta(f)Ho(298K)[C(3)H(7)NH(2)(g)] = -70.8 +/- 1.5 kJ mol(-1), Delta(f)Ho(298K)[C(3)H(7)*] = 101.3 +/- 1 kJ mol(-1), and Delta(f)Ho(298K)[i-C(3)H(7)*] = 88.5 +/- 1 kJ mol(-1). The TPEPICO and the ab initio results for butylamine do not agree within 1 kJ mol-1; therefore, no new heat of formation is proposed for butylamine. It is nevertheless indicated that the previous experimental heats of formation of methylamine, propylamine, butylamine, and isobutylamine may have been systematically underestimated. On the other hand, the error in the ethyl radical heat of formation is found to be overestimated and can be decreased to +/- 1 kJ mol(-1); thus, Delta(f)Ho(298K)[C(2)H(5).] = 120.7 +/- 1 kJ mol(-1). On the basis of the data analysis, the heat of formation of the methylenimmonium ion is confirmed to be Delta(f)Ho(298K)[CH(2)NH(2)+] = 750.3 +/- 1 kJ mol(-1).  相似文献

Threshold photoelectron-photoion coincidence spectroscopy (TPEPICO) has been used to study the dissociation kinetics and thermochemistry of Me(4)Si, Me(6)Si(2), and Me(3)SiX, (X = Br, I) molecules. Accurate 0 K dissociative photoionization onsets for these species have been measured from the breakdown diagram and the ion time-of-flight distribution, both of them analyzed and simulated in terms of the statistical RRKM theory and DFT calculations. The average enthalpy of formation of trimethylsilyl ion, Delta fH(o)298K(Me(3)Si(+)) = 617.3 +/- 2.3 kJ/mol, has been determined from the measured onsets for methyl loss (10.243 +/- 0.010 eV) from Me(4)Si, and Br and I loss from Me(3)SiBr (10.624 +/- 0.010 eV) and Me(3)SiI (9.773 +/- 0.015 eV), respectively. The methyl loss onsets for the trimethyl halo silanes lead to Delta fH(o)298K(Me(2)SiBr(+)) = 590.3 +/- 4.4 kJ/mol and Delta fH(o)298K(Me(5)Si(2)(+)) = 487.6 +/- 6.2 kJ/mol. The dissociative photoionization of Me(3)SiSiMe(3) proceeds by a very slow Si-Si bond breaking step, whose rate constants were measured as a function of the ion internal energy. Extrapolation of this rate constant to the dissociation limit leads to the 0 K dissociation onset (9.670 +/- 0.030 eV). This onset, along with the previously determined trimethylsilyl ion energy, leads to an enthalpy of formation of the trimethylsilyl radical, Delta fH(o)298K(Me(3)Si(*)) = 14.0 +/- 6.6 kJ/mol. In combination with other experimental values, we propose a more accurate average value for Delta fH(o)298K(Me(3)Si(*)) of 14.8 +/- 2.0 kJ/mol. Finally, the bond dissociation enthalpies (DeltaH(298K)) Si-H, Si-C, Si-X (X=Cl, Br, I) and Si-Si are derived and discussed in this study.  相似文献

Threshold photoelectron-photoion coincidence spectroscopy (TPEPICO) has been used to investigate the gas-phase ionic dissociation energies and thermochemistry of Me4Ge and Me3GeX, (Me = methyl; X = Cl, Br) molecules. The 0 K dissociation onsets for these species have been measured from the breakdown diagram and the ion time-of-flight distributions, which were modeled with the statistical RRKM theory and DFT calculations. The measured 0 K dissociative photoionization onsets were as follows: Me3Ge+ + Me (9.826 +/- 0.010 eV); Me3Ge+ + Cl (10.796 +/- 0.040 eV); Me3Ge+ + Br (10.250 +/- 0.011 eV); Me2GeCl+ + Me (10.402 +/- 0.010 eV); and Me2GeBr+ + Me (10.333 +/- 0.020 eV). These onsets were used to obtain new values for delta(f)H(degrees)298 (in kJ/mol) of the neutral molecules Me3GeCl (-239.8 +/- 5.7) and Me3GeBr (-196.5 +/- 4.3), and also for the following ionic species: Me3Ge+ (682.3 +/- 4.1), Me2GeCl+ (621.1 +/- 5.8), and Me2GeBr+ (657.8 +/- 4.7).  相似文献

A joint threshold photoelectron photoion coincidence spectrometry (TPEPICO) and collision-induced dissociation (CID) study on the thermochemistry of Co(CO)(2)NOPR(3), R = CH(3) (Me) and C(2)H(5) (Et), complexes is presented. Adiabatic ionization energies of 7.36 +/- 0.04 and 7.24 +/- 0.04 eV, respectively, were extracted from scans of the total ion and threshold electron signals. In the TPEPICO study, the following 0 K onsets were determined for the various fragment ions: CoCONOPMe(3)(+), 8.30 +/- 0.05 eV; CoNOPMe(3)(+), 9.11 +/- 0.05 eV; CoPMe(3)(+) 10.80 +/- 0.05 eV; CoCONOPEt(3)(+), 8.14 +/- 0.05 eV; CoNOPEt(3)(+), 8.92 +/- 0.05 eV; and CoPEt(3)(+), 10.66 +/- 0.05 eV. These onsets were combined with the Co(+)-PR(3) (R = CH(3) and C(2)H(5)) bond dissociation energies of 2.88 +/- 0.11 and 3.51 +/- 0.17 eV, obtained from the TCID experiments, to derive the heats of formation of the neutral and ionic species. Thus, the Co(CO)(2)NOPR(3) (R = CH(3) and C(2)H(5)) 0 K heats of formation were found to be -350 +/- 13 and -376 +/- 18 kJ x mol(-)(1), respectively. These heats of formation were combined with the published heat of formation of Co(CO)(3)NO to determine the substitution enthalpies of the carbonyl to phosphine substitution reactions. Room-temperature values of the heats of formation are also given using the calculated harmonic vibrational frequencies. Analysis of the TCID experimental results provides indirectly the adiabatic ionization energies of the free phosphine ligands, P(CH(3))(3) and P(C(2)H(5))(3), of 7.83 +/- 0.03 and 7.50 +/- 0.03 eV, respectively.  相似文献

Threshold photoelectron-photoion coincidence spectroscopy has been used to investigate the dissociation kinetics of the manganocene ion, Cp(2)Mn(+) (Cp = eta(5)-cyclopentadienyl). The Cp loss reaction was found to be extremely slow over a large ion internal energy range. By simulating the measured asymmetric time-of-flight peak shapes and breakdown diagram, the 0 K thermochemical dissociation limit for CpMn(+) production was determined to be 9.55 +/- 0.15 eV. A CpMn(+)-Cp bond energy of 3.43 eV was obtained by combining this CpMn(+) + Cp dissociation limit with the Cp(2)Mn adiabatic ionization energy of 6.12 +/- 0.07 eV. Combining the measured onset with known heats of formation of Cp and Mn(+), the Cp-Mn(+) bond energy was determined to be 3.38 +/- 0.15 eV. These results lead to 298 K heats of formation of Cp(2)Mn(+) and CpMn(+) of 863 +/- 7 and 935 +/- 16 kJ/mol, respectively. Finally, by combining these results with a previous measurement of the CpMn(CO)(3) --> CpMn(+) + 3CO + e(-) dissociation limit, we arrive at a new value for Delta(f)H degrees (298K)(CpMn(CO)(3)) of -424 +/- 17 kJ/mol.  相似文献

Pulsed field ionization photoelectron (PFI-PE) spectroscopy combined with ion coincidence detection has been used with multi-bunch synchrotron radiation at the Advance Light Source (ALS) to energy select ions and to measure their breakdown diagram. The resolution for ion state selection achieved with Ar+ (2P3/2, 1/2) employing this PFI-PE-photoion coincidence apparatus is 0.6 meV (full width at half maximum). The production of C2H5+ from C2H5Br was investigated near the dissociative photoionization limit with this pulsed field ionization-threshold photoelectron photoion coincidence (PFI-PEPICO) scheme. Although the PFI-PE spectra of C2H5Br, C2H5I, and benzene show that the production of ions in the Franck-Condon gap regions is quite low, the selectivity for PFI-PE detection and the suppression of prompt electrons is such that we can detect 1 PFI-PE out of 25,000 total electrons s-1. The derived C2H5+ heat of formation from the analysis of the C2H5Br+ breakdown diagram and a critical analysis of other results is 900.5 +/- 2.0 kJ mol-1 at 298 K, or 913.2 +/- 2.0 kJ mol-1 at 0 K. This leads to an ethylene proton affinity at 298 K of 682.0 kJ mol-1. The measured IE of C2H5Br is 10.307 eV.  相似文献

The dissociative photoionization onsets for the formation of the propionyl ion (C(2)H(5)CO(+)) and the acetyl ion (CH(3)CO(+)) were measured from energy selected butanone and 2,3-pentanedione ions using the technique of threshold photoelectron photoion coincidence (TPEPICO) spectroscopy. Ion time-of-flight (TOF) mass spectra recorded as a function of the ion internal energy permitted the construction of breakdown diagrams, which are the fractional abundances of ions as a function of the photon energy. The fitting of these diagrams with the statistical theory of unimolecular decay permitted the extraction of the 0 K dissociation limits of the first and second dissociation channels. This procedure was tested using the known energetics of the higher energy dissociation channel in butanone that produced the acetyl ion and the ethyl radical. By combining the measured dissociative photoionization onsets with the well-established heats of formation of CH(3)(*), CH(3)CO(+), CH(3)CO(*), and butanone, the 298 K heats of formation, Delta(f)H degrees (298K), of the propionyl ion and radical were determined to be 618.6 +/- 1.4 and -31.7 +/- 3.4 kJ/mol, respectively, and Delta(f)H degrees (298K)[2,3-pentanedione] was determined to be -343.7 +/- 2.5 kJ/mol. This is the first experimentally determined value for the heat of formation for 2,3-pentanedione. Ab initio calculations at the Weizmann-1 (W1) level of theory predict Delta(f)H degrees (298K) values for the propionyl ion and radical of 617.9 and -33.3 kJ/mol, respectively, in excellent agreement with the measured values.  相似文献

The sequential ethene (C2H4) loss channels of energy-selected ethylphosphine ions have been studied using threshold photoelectron photoion coincidence (TPEPICO) spectroscopy in which ion time-of-flight (TOF) distributions are recorded as a function of the photon energy. The ion TOF distributions and breakdown diagrams have been modeled in terms of the statistical RRKM theory for unimolecular reactions, providing 0 K dissociation onsets, E0, for the ethene loss channels. Three RRKM curves were used to model the five measurements, since two of the reactions differ only by the internal energy of the parent ion. This series of dissociations provides a detailed check of the calculation of the product energy distribution for sequential reactions. From the determined E0's, the heats of formation of several ethylphosphine neutrals and ions have been determined: Delta(f)H degrees 298K[P(C(2)H(5))3] = -152.7 +/- 2.8 kJ/mol, Delta(f)H degrees 298K[P(C(2)H(5))3+] = 571.6 +/- 4.0 kJ/mol, Delta(f)H degrees 298K[HP(C(2)H(5))2] = -89.6 +/- 2.1 kJ/mol, Delta(f)H degrees 298K[HP(C(2)H(5))2+] = 669.9 +/- 2.5 kJ/mol, Delta(f)H degrees 298K[H(2)PC(2)H(5)] = -36.5 +/- 1.5 kJ/mol, Delta(f)H degrees 298K[H(2)PC(2)H(5)+] = 784.0 +/- 1.9 kJ/mol. These values have been supported by G2 and G3 calculations using isodesmic reactions. Coupled cluster calculations have been used to show that the C2H4 loss channel, which involves a hydrogen transfer step, proceeds without a reverse energy barrier.  相似文献

The heats of formation of N(2)H, diazene (cis- and trans-N(2)H(2)), N(2)H(3), and hydrazine (N(2)H(4)), as well as their protonated species (diazenium, N(2)H(3)(+), and hydrazinium, N(2)H(5)(+)), have been calculated by using high level electronic structure theory. Energies were calculated by using coupled cluster theory with a perturbative treatment of the triple excitations (CCSD(T)) and employing augmented correlation consistent basis sets (aug-cc-pVnZ) up to quintuple-zeta, to perform a complete basis set extrapolation for the energy. Geometries were optimized at the CCSD(T) level with the aug-cc-pVDZ and aug-cc-pVTZ basis sets. Core-valence and scalar relativistic corrections were included, as well as scaled zero point energies. We find the following heats of formation (kcal/mol) at 0 (298) K: DeltaH(f)(N(2)H) = 60.8 (60.1); DeltaH(f)(cis-N(2)H(2)) = 54.9 (53.2); DeltaH(f)(trans-N(2)H(2)) = 49.9 (48.1) versus >/=48.8 +/- 0.5 (exptl, 0 K); DeltaH(f)(N(2)H(4)) = 26.6 (23.1) versus 22.8 +/- 0.2 (exptl, 298 K); DeltaH(f)(N(2)H(3)) = 56.2 (53.6); DeltaH(f)(N(2)H(3)(+)) = 231.6 (228.9); and DeltaH(f)(N(2)H(5)(+)) = 187.1 (182.7). In addition, we calculated the heats of formation of CH(3)NH(2), CH(3)NNH, and CH(3)HNNHCH(3) by using isodesmic reactions and at the G3(MP2) level. The calculated results for the hydrogenation reaction RNNR + H(2) --> RHNNHR show that substitution of an organic substituent for H improved the energetics, suggesting that these types of compounds may be possible to use in a chemical hydrogen storage system.  相似文献

photoelectron-photoion coincidence spectroscopy and density functional theory calculations have been used to investigate the dissociation kinetics of the benzene chromium tricarbonyl ion, BzCr(CO)3+ (Bz = C6H6). The dissociation of the BzCr(CO)3+ ion proceeds by the sequential loss of three CO and benzene ligands. The first and third CO and the benzene loss reactions were associated with metastable precursor ions (lifetimes in the microsecond range). By simulating the resulting asymmetric time-of-flight peak shapes and breakdown diagram, the 0 K appearance energies of the four product ions were determined to be 8.33 +/- 0.05, 8.93 +/- 0.05, 9.97 +/- 0.06, and 11.71 +/- 0.06 eV, respectively. Combined with the ionization energy of BzCr(CO)3, 7.30 +/- 0.05 eV, the three successive Cr-CO bond energies in the BzCr(CO)3+ were found to alternate, with values of 1.03 +/- 0.05, 0.60 +/- 0.05, and 1.04 +/- 0.05 eV, respectively, and the Bz-Cr bond energy in BzCr+ is 1.74 +/- 0.05 eV, a trend confirmed by the density functional theory (DFT) calculations. Using the heats of formation of the fully dissociated products, C6H6, Cr+, and CO, the 298 K heats of formation the ionic BzCr(CO)n+ (n = 03) species were determined. By scaling the DFT calculated bond energies for the neutral molecules, the heats of formation of the neutral BzCr(CO)n (n = 03) were also obtained.  相似文献

Energy selected mono-, di- and trimethylamine ions were prepared by threshold photoelectron photoion coincidence spectroscopy (TPEPICO). Below 13 eV, the main dissociative photoionization path of these molecules is hydrogen atom loss. The ion time-of-flight (TOF) distributions and breakdown diagrams for H loss are analyzed in terms of the statistical RRKM theory, which includes tunneling. Experimental evidence, supported by quantum chemical calculations, indicates that the reverse barrier along the H loss potential energy curve for monomethylamine is 1.8 +/- 0.6 kJ mol(-1). Accurate dissociation onset energies are derived from the TOF simulation, and from this analysis we conclude that Delta(f)H degrees (298K)[CH(2)NH(2)(+)] = 750.4 +/- 1.3 kJ mol(-1) and Delta(f)H degrees (298K)[CH(2)NH(CH(3))(+)] = 710.9 +/- 2.8 kJ mol(-1). Quantum chemical calculations at the G3, G3B3, CBS-APNO and W1U levels are extensively used to support the experimental data. The comparison between experimental and ab initio isodesmic reaction heats also suggests that Delta(f)H degrees (298K)[N(CH(3))(3)] = -27.2 +/- 2 kJ mol(-1), and that the dimethylamine ionization energy is 8.32 +/- 0.03 eV, both of which are in slight disagreement with previous experimental values. Above 13 eV photon energy, additional dissociation channels appear besides the H atom loss, such as a sequential C(2)H(4) loss from trimethylamine for which a dissociation mechanism is proposed.  相似文献

The kinetics and H atom channel yield at both 298 and 195 K have been determined for reactions of CN radicals with C2H2 (1.00+/-0.21, 0.97+/-0.20), C2H4 (0.96+/-0.032, 1.04+/-0.042), C3H6 (pressure dependent), iso-C4H8 (pressure dependent), and trans-2-C4H8 (0.039+/-0.019, 0.029+/-0.047) where the first figure in each bracket is the H atom yield at 298 K and the second is that at 195 K. The kinetics of all reactions were studied by monitoring both CN decay and H atom growth by laser-induced fluorescence at 357.7 and 121.6 nm, respectively. The results are in good agreement with previous studies where available. The rate coefficients for the reaction of CN with trans-2-butene and iso-butene have been measured at 298 and 195 K for the first time, and the rate coefficients are as follows: k298K=(2.93+/-0.23)x10(-10) cm3 molecule(-1) s(-1), k195K=(3.58+/-0.43)x10(-10) cm3 molecule(-1) s(-1) and k298K=(3.17+/-0.10)x10(-10) cm3 molecule(-1) s(-1), k195K=(4.32+/-0.35)x10(-10) cm3 molecule(-1) s(-1), respectively, where the errors represent a combination of statistical uncertainty (2sigma) and an estimate of possible systematic errors. A potential energy surface for the CN+C3H6 reaction has been constructed using G3X//UB3LYP electronic structure calculations identifying a number of reaction channels leading to either H, CH3, or HCN elimination following the formation of initial addition complexes. Results from the potential energy surface calculations have been used to run master equation calculations with the ratio of primary:secondary addition, the average amount of downward energy transferred in a collision DeltaEd, and the difference in barrier heights between H atom elimination and an H atom 1, 2 migration as variable parameters. Excellent agreement is obtained with the experimental 298 K H atom yields with the following parameter values: secondary addition complex formation equal to 80%, DeltaEd=145 cm(-1), and the barrier height for H atom elimination set 5 kJ mol(-1) lower than the barrier for migration. Finally, very low temperature master equation simulations using the best fit parameters have been carried out in an increased precision environment utilizing quad-double and double-double arithmetic to predict H and CH3 yields for the CN+C3H6 reaction at temperatures and pressures relevant to Titan. The H and CH3 yields predicted by the master equation have been parametrized in a simple equation for use in modeling.  相似文献

The dissociative photoionization onsets for Cl and Br loss reactions were measured for HCCl3, HCCl2Br, HCClBr2, and HCBr3 by threshold photoelectron photoion coincidence (TPEPICO) in order to establish the heats of formation of the mixed halides as well as the following fragment ions: HCCl2(+), HCClBr(+), HCBr2(+). The first zero Kelvin onsets were measured with a precision of 10 meV. The second onsets, which are in competition with the lower energy onsets, were established with a precision of 60 meV. Because both the chloroform and bromoform have relatively well established heats of formation, these measurements provide a route for establishing the heats of formation of the mixed halomethanes within uncertainties of less than 5 kJ mol(-1).  相似文献

Reliable thermochemical data for the reaction SO3 + H2O<-->SO3 x H2O (1a) are of crucial importance for an adequate modeling of the homogeneous H2SO4 formation in the atmosphere. We report on high-level quantum chemical calculations to predict the binding energy of the SO3 x H2O complex. The electronic binding energy is accurately computed to De = 40.9+/-1.0 kJ/mol = 9.8+/-0.2 kcal/mol. By using harmonic frequencies from density functional theory calculations (B3LYP/cc-pVTZ and TPSS/def2-TZVP), zero-point and thermal energies were calculated. From these data, we estimate D0 = -Delta H(1a)0(0 K) = 7.7+/-0.5 kcal/mol and Delta H(1a)0(298 K) = -8.3+/-1.0 kcal/mol.  相似文献

The laser flash photolysis resonance fluorescence technique was used to monitor atomic Cl kinetics. Loss of Cl following photolysis of CCl4 and NaCl was used to determine k(Cl + C6H6) = 6.4 x 10(-12) exp(-18.1 kJ mol(-1)/RT) cm(3) molecule(-1) s(-1) over 578-922 K and k(Cl + C6D6) = 6.2 x 10(-12) exp(-22.8 kJ mol(-1)/RT) cm(3) molecule(-1) s(-1) over 635-922 K. Inclusion of literature data at room temperature leads to a recommendation of k(Cl + C6H6) = 6.1 x 10(-11) exp(-31.6 kJ mol(-1)/RT) cm(3) molecule(-1) s(-1) for 296-922 K. Monitoring growth of Cl during the reaction of phenyl with HCl led to k(C6H5 + HCl) = 1.14 x 10(-12) exp(+5.2 kJ mol(-1)/RT) cm(3) molecule(-1) s(-1) over 294-748 K, k(C6H5 + DCl) = 7.7 x 10(-13) exp(+4.9 kJ mol(-1)/RT) cm(3) molecule(-1) s(-1) over 292-546 K, an approximate k(C6H5 + C6H5I) = 2 x 10(-11) cm(3) molecule(-1) s(-1) over 300-750 K, and an upper limit k(Cl + C6H5I) < or = 5.3 x 10(-12) exp(+2.8 kJ mol(-1)/RT) cm(3) molecule(-1) s(-1) over 300-750 K. Confidence limits are discussed in the text. Third-law analysis of the equilibrium constant yields the bond dissociation enthalpy D(298)(C6H5-H) = 472.1 +/- 2.5 kJ mol(-1) and thus the enthalpy of formation Delta(f)H(298)(C6H5) = 337.0 +/- 2.5 kJ mol(-1).  相似文献

Methyl, methyl-d(3), and ethyl hydroperoxide anions (CH(3)OO(-), CD(3)OO(-), and CH(3)CH(2)OO(-)) have been prepared by deprotonation of their respective hydroperoxides in a stream of helium buffer gas. Photodetachment with 364 nm (3.408 eV) radiation was used to measure the adiabatic electron affinities: EA[CH(3)OO, X(2)A' '] = 1.161 +/- 0.005 eV, EA[CD(3)OO, X(2)A' '] = 1.154 +/- 0.004 eV, and EA[CH(3)CH(2)OO, X(2)A' '] = 1.186 +/- 0.004 eV. The photoelectron spectra yield values for the term energies: Delta E(X(2)A' '-A (2)A')[CH(3)OO] = 0.914 +/- 0.005 eV, Delta E(X(2)A' '-A (2)A')[CD(3)OO] = 0.913 +/- 0.004 eV, and Delta E(X(2)A' '-A (2)A')[CH(3)CH(2)OO] = 0.938 +/- 0.004 eV. A localized RO-O stretching mode was observed near 1100 cm(-1) for the ground state of all three radicals, and low-frequency R-O-O bending modes are also reported. Proton-transfer kinetics of the hydroperoxides have been measured in a tandem flowing afterglow-selected ion flow tube (FA-SIFT) to determine the gas-phase acidity of the parent hydroperoxides: Delta(acid)G(298)(CH(3)OOH) = 367.6 +/- 0.7 kcal mol(-1), Delta(acid)G(298)(CD(3)OOH) = 367.9 +/- 0.9 kcal mol(-1), and Delta(acid)G(298)(CH(3)CH(2)OOH) = 363.9 +/- 2.0 kcal mol(-1). From these acidities we have derived the enthalpies of deprotonation: Delta(acid)H(298)(CH(3)OOH) = 374.6 +/- 1.0 kcal mol(-1), Delta(acid)H(298)(CD(3)OOH) = 374.9 +/- 1.1 kcal mol(-1), and Delta(acid)H(298)(CH(3)CH(2)OOH) = 371.0 +/- 2.2 kcal mol(-1). Use of the negative-ion acidity/EA cycle provides the ROO-H bond enthalpies: DH(298)(CH(3)OO-H) = 87.8 +/- 1.0 kcal mol(-1), DH(298)(CD(3)OO-H) = 87.9 +/- 1.1 kcal mol(-1), and DH(298)(CH(3)CH(2)OO-H) = 84.8 +/- 2.2 kcal mol(-1). We review the thermochemistry of the peroxyl radicals, CH(3)OO and CH(3)CH(2)OO. Using experimental bond enthalpies, DH(298)(ROO-H), and CBS/APNO ab initio electronic structure calculations for the energies of the corresponding hydroperoxides, we derive the heats of formation of the peroxyl radicals. The "electron affinity/acidity/CBS" cycle yields Delta(f)H(298)[CH(3)OO] = 4.8 +/- 1.2 kcal mol(-1) and Delta(f)H(298)[CH(3)CH(2)OO] = -6.8 +/- 2.3 kcal mol(-1).  相似文献

The dissociative photoionization of CH2Br2 in a region approximately 10-24 eV was investigated with photoionization mass spectroscopy using a synchrotron radiation source. An adiabatic ionization energy of 10.25 eV determined for CH2Br2 agrees satisfactorily with predictions of 10.26 and 10.25 eV with G2 and G3 methods, respectively. Observed major fragment ions CH2Br+, CHBr+, and CBr+ show appearance energies at 11.22, 12.59, and 15.42 eV, respectively; minor fragment ions CHBr2+, Br+, and CH2+ appear at 12.64, 15.31, and 16.80 eV, respectively. Energies for formation of observed fragment ions and their neutral counterparts upon ionization of CH2Br2 are computed with G2 and G3 methods. Dissociative photoionization channels associated with six observed fragment ions are proposed based on comparison of determined appearance energies and predicted energies. An upper limit of DeltaH0f,298(CHBr+) < or = 300.7 +/- 1.5 kcal mol(-1) is derived experimentally; the adiabatic ionization energy of CHBr is thus derived to be < or = 9.17 +/- 0.23 eV. Literature values for DeltaH0f,298(CBr+) = 362.5 kcal mol(-1) and ionization energy of 10.43 eV for CBr are revised to be less than 332 kcal mol(-1) and 9.11 eV, respectively. Also based on a new experimental ionization energy, DeltaH0f,298(CH2Br2+) is revised to be 236.4 +/- 1.5 kcal mol(-1).  相似文献

The valence shell photoelectron spectrum, threshold photoelectron spectrum, and threshold photoelectron photoion coincidence (TPEPICO) mass spectra of acetone have been measured using synchrotron radiation. New vibrational progressions have been observed and assigned in the X 2B2 state photoelectron bands of acetone-h6 and acetone-d6, and the influence of resonant autoionization on the threshold electron yield has been investigated. The dissociation thresholds for fragment ions up to 31 eV have been measured and compared to previous values. In addition, kinetic modeling of the threshold region for CH3* and CH4 loss leads to new values of 78 +/- 2 kJ mol(-1) and 75 +/- 2 kJ mol(-1), respectively, for the 0 K activation energies for these two processes. The result for the methyl loss channel is in reasonable agreement with, but slightly lower than, that of 83 +/- 1 kJ mol(-1) derived in a recent TPEPICO study by Fogleman et al. The modeling accounts for both low-energy dissociation channels at two different ion residence times in the mass spectrometer. Moreover, the effects of the ro-vibrational population distribution, the electron transmission efficiency, and the monochromator band-pass are included. The present activation energies yield a Delta(f)H298 for CH3CO+ of 655 +/- 3 kJ mol(-1), which is 4 kJ mol(-1) lower than that reported by Fogleman et al. The present Delta(f)H298 for CH3CO+ can be combined with the Delta(f)H298 for CH2CO (-47.5 +/- 1.6 kJ mol(-1)) and H+ (1530 kJ mol(-1)) to yield a 298 K proton affinity for ketene of 828 +/- 4 kJ mol(-1), in good agreement with the value (825 kJ mol(-1)) calculated at the G2 level of theory. The measured activation energy for CH4 loss leads to a Delta(f)H298 (CH2CO+*) of 873 +/- 3 kJ mol(-1).  相似文献

Internal energy selected bromofluoromethane cations were prepared and their internal energy dependent fragmentation pathways were recorded by imaging photoelectron photoion coincidence spectroscopy (iPEPICO). The first dissociation reaction is bromine atom loss, which is followed by fluorine atom loss in CF(3)Br and CF(2)Br(2) at higher energies. Accurate 0 K appearance energies have been obtained for these processes, which are complemented by ab initio isodesmic reaction energy calculations. A thermochemical network is set up to obtain updated heats of formation of the samples and their dissociative photoionization products. Several computational methods have been benchmarked against the well-known interhalogen heats of formation. As a corollary, we stumbled upon an assignment issue for the ClF heat of formation leading to a 5.7 kJ mol(-1) error, resolved some time ago, but still lacking closure because of outdated compilations. Our CF(3)(+) appearance energy from CF(3)Br confirms the measurements of Asher and Ruscic (J. Chem. Phys. 1997, 106, 210) and Garcia et al. (J. Phys. Chem. A 2001, 105, 8296) as opposed to the most recent result of Clay et al. (J. Phys. Chem. A 2005, 109, 1541). The ionization energy of CF(3) is determined to be 9.02-9.08 eV on the basis of a previous CF(3)-Br neutral bond energy and the CF(3) heat of formation, respectively. We also show that the breakdown diagram of CFBr(3)(+), a weakly bound parent ion, can be used to obtain the accurate adiabatic ionization energy of the neutral of 10.625 ± 0.010 eV. The updated 298 K enthalpies of formation Δ(f)H(o)(g) for CF(3)Br, CF(2)Br(2), CFBr(3), and CBr(4) are reported to be -647.0 ± 3.5, -361.0 ± 7.4, -111.6 ± 7.7, and 113.7 ± 4 kJ mol(-1), respectively.  相似文献
