We consider the behavior of a strongly rarefied (Knudsen) polyatomic gas between two surfaces that have different temperatures in a magnetic field. The electrical breakdown of gases in a transverse magnetic field is discussed in references [1–16]. Attention has mainly been concentrated on the case of coaxial electrode geometry [1–10]. The existing experimental data on breakdown between plane-parallel electrodes [11–14] relate to a narrow range of variation of the parameters characterizing breakdown (P, d, H, U). The author has made an experimental study of the process of electrical breakdown in air in a transverse magnetic field between plane-parallel electrodes of finite size in the pressure interval from 650 to 5·10–3 mm Hg at gap lengths of from 1 to 140 mm and magnetic inductions from 0 to 10 600 G.  相似文献

It is known that steady flows arise beside a solid surface in the presence of a sound field which can to a certain extent exert an effect on the processes of heat and mass exchange [1–3]. As a rule, all papers from this area refer to the case in which one can represent the sound field in the form of a single wave. However, situations are often encountered in practice in which the sound field is complex; i.e., it consists of several vibrations whose amplitudes and frequencies are unlike in the general case. The parametric instability of a nonuniformly heated horizontal layer of liquid dielectric with free isothermal boundaries in a transverse electric field is studied analytically. An instability map is obtained. The far-zone structure of the wave field in an elastic bed on a rigid foundation is considered. The wave field is generated by a tangential periodic force applied to the bed surface. Moskowitz and Rosensweig [1] describe the drag of a magnetic liquid — a colloidal suspension of ferromagnetic single-domain particles in a liquid carrier — by a rotating magnetic field. Various hydrodynamic models have been proposed [2, 3] to describe the macroscopic behavior of magnetic suspensions. In the model constructed in [2] it was assumed that the intensity of magnetization is always directed along the field so that the body torque is zero. Therefore, this model cannot account for the phenomenon under consideration. We make a number of simplifying assumptions to discuss the steady laminar flow of an incompressible viscous magnetizable liquid with internal rotation of particles moving in an infinitely long cylindrical container in a rotating magnetic field. The physical mechanism setting the liquid in motion is discussed. The importance of unsymmetric stresses and the phenomenon of relaxation of magnetization are emphasized. The problem on the stress–strain state of an infinite isotropic body made of a magnetically soft material and containing a spherical cavity is considered. It is assumed that the body is under an external magnetic field. The basic characteristics of the stress–strain state and the magnetic field induced are determined and their singularities near the cavity are studied. For the steady-state circular turning of a 4WD–4WS (4 wheel driven–4 wheel steered) tractor in a rice field, a numerical simulation was achieved. Equations of motion of this tractor were developed in a vehicle fixed x–y coordinate system. By comparing the calculated and measured results of acting forces on the tractor tires, this simulation was evaluated. Then, the characteristic parameters of the turning vehicle, which are the side slip angle and the yaw angular velocity of the vehicle center of gravity, were simulated in several combinations of the steering wheel angle and the forward speed. Also the same simulation applied to a 4WD–2WS tractor which had the same body as the 4WD–4WS tractor. The simulated results showed a clear difference of turnability between 4WS and 2WS. ©  相似文献

This paper deals with elastic and elastic–plastic singular fields around a crack-tip in particulate-reinforced composites with debonding damage of particle-matrix interface. Numerical analyses are carried out on a crack-tip field in elastic-matrix and elastic–plastic-matrix composites reinforced with elastic particles, using a finite element method developed based on an incremental damage theory of particulate-reinforced composites. A particle volume fraction and interfacial strength between particles and matrix of the composites are parametrically changed. In the elastic-matrix composites, a unique elastic singular field is created on the complete damage zone in the vicinity of a crack-tip in addition to the conventional elastic singular field on the no damage zone. The macroscopic stress level around a crack-tip is reduced by the debonding damage while the microscopic stress level of the matrix remains unchanged. In the elastic–plastic-matrix composites, the damage zone develops in addition to the plastic zone due to matrix plasticity, and both the macroscopic and microscopic stress revels around a crack-tip are reduced by the debonding damage. It is concluded from the numerical results that the toughening due to damage could be expected in the elastic–plastic-matrix composites, while it is questionable in the elastic-matrix composites.  相似文献

The stress–strain state of an infinite isotropic magnetically soft ferromagnetic body with a spheroidal inclusion is analyzed. It is assumed that the body is in an external magnetic field. The basic stress–strain characteristics and the induced magnetic field near and inside the inclusion are analyzed. The plots and the table presented show how the total magnetoelastic and Maxwell stresses near and inside the inclusion depend on the ratio of the spheroid axes, the latitude angle, and the magnetic induction when the medium and the inclusion are dissimilar materials.  相似文献

The paper addresses a stress–strain problem for an infinite soft ferromagnetic body with an elliptic inclusion. The body is in a homogeneous magnetic field B 01. The basic stress–strain characteristics and induced magnetic field in the body and inclusion are determined and their features in the neighborhood of the inclusion are studied. The magnetoelastic and Maxwell stresses are plotted against the ratio of ellipse axes and the latitude angle. A new analytic solution is constructed for the nonlinear transonic equations describing the irrotational far flow field (with two symmetry axes) in the case of transonic flow past a nonlifting profile. With increasing distance from the profile, the nonlinear field goes over continuously into the field of the linear theory. A study is made of the propagation of a discontinuity of the electromagnetic field in a magnet in a coaxial cable. The shape of a discontinuity of the electromagnetic field propagating along a magnet from a voltage source is found. The problem of mass transfer between an isolated bubble and the continuous phase in a pseudofluidized layer is considered, when the rising velocity of the bubble exceeds the pseudofluidization rate. In this case the bubble with the surrounding region, a so-called two-phase system, is surrounded by a surface current impermeable to the liquid [1–3], and the problem reduces to determining the concentration field and the total flow on the material surface.
