The modulational instability, quantum breathers and two-breathers in a frustrated easy-axis ferromagnetic zig-zag chain under an external magnetic field are investigated within the Hartree approximation. By means of a linear stability analysis, we analytically study the discrete modulational instability and analyze the effect of the frustration strength on the discrete modulational instability region. Using the results from the discrete modulational instability analysis, the presence conditions of those stationary bright type localized solutions are presented. On the other hand, we obtain the analytical expressions for the stationary bright localized solutions and analyze the effect of the frustration on their emergence conditions. By taking advantage of these bright type single-magnon bound wave functions obtained, quantum breather states in the present frustrated ferromagnetic zig-zag lattice are constructed. What is more, the analytical forms for quantum two-breather states are also obtained. In particular, the energy level formulas of quantum breathers and two-breathers are derived.  相似文献

Based on the Hartree approximation and the semidiscrete multiple-scale method, quantum breathers in an anisotropic ferromagnetic Heisenberg chain with biquadratic exchange interaction are predicted analytically. The existence condition of quantum breathers is obtained, and the properties of quantum breathers are analyzed. Moreover, it is shown that the energy of such quantum breathers is quantized.  相似文献

Under considering the next-nearest-neighbor interaction, quantum breathers in one-dimensional anisotropy ferromagnetic chains are theortically studied. By introducing the Dyson-Maleev transformation for spin operators, a map to a Heisenberg ferromagnetic spin lattice into an extended Bose–Hubbard model can be established. In the case of a small number of bosons, by means of the numerical diagonalization technique, the energy spectrum of the corresponding extended Bose–Hubbard model containing two bosons is calculated. When the strength of the single-ion anisotropy is enough large, a isolated single band appears. This isolated single band corresponds to two-boson bound state, which is the simplest quantum breather state. It is shown that the introduction of the next-nearest-neighbor interaction will lead to interesting band structures. In the case of a large number of bosons, by applying the time-dependent Hartree approximation, quantum breather states for the system is constructed. In this case, the effect of the next-nearest-neighbor interaction on quantum breathers is also analyzed.

In the ferromagnetic Heisenberg chains of XXX and XXZ types with the hidden symmetries of Lie bi-algebra su(2) and quantum bi-algebra suq(2), we show that at thermodynamic limit the algebra contractions give the boson algebra h(4) and the q-deformed boion algebra hq(2) as the hidden symmetries respectively. The chains in constant magnetic field are studied and the ground states and lowest excited states are given explicitly with energy spectra. The phonon (or angular momentum) excitations are shown to be bosonic for the isotropic case and q-bosonic for the anisotropic case, and the ground states and lowest excited states of the systems of the chains in field are given explicitly. We give the phonon coherent states in the isotropic Heisenberg chain and the q-coherent states of the anisotropic chain at the thermodynamic limit. The q-coherent states are shown to be a squeezed states of phonon excitations.  相似文献

The properties of discrete breathers in dissipative one-dimensional lattices of nonlinear oscillators subject to periodic driving forces are reviewed. We focus on oscillobreathers in the Frenkel-Kontorova chain and rotobreathers in a ladder of Josephson junctions. Both types of exponentially localized solutions are easily obtained numerically using adiabatic continuation from the anticontinuous limit. Linear stability (Floquet) analysis allows the characterization of different types of bifurcations experienced by periodic discrete breathers. Some of these bifurcations produce nonperiodic localized solutions, namely, quasiperiodic and chaotic discrete breathers, which are generally impossible as exact solutions in Hamiltonian systems. Within a certain range of parameters, propagating breathers occur as attractors of the dissipative dynamics. General features of these excitations are discussed and the Peierls-Nabarro barrier is addressed. Numerical scattering experiments with mobile breathers reveal the existence of two-breather bound states and allow a first glimpse at the intricate phenomenology of these special multibreather configurations.  相似文献

In the dissipative, driven standard Frenkel-Kontorova model propagating breathers exist as attractors of the dynamics. In collisions, these excitations interact through the phonons they emit. A possible result of a two-breather collision is a bound state of two breathers. After looking at phonons and breather collisions, we present phenomenological results on breather bound states obtained from lattice dynamics simulations. In particular, we find that bound states can be characterised by the distance between the two breathers they comprise and their propagation velocity. Contrary to the single breather case, several values of the propagation velocity are easily accessible to bound states at fixed model parameters. The results are interpreted on the basis of the observed phonon spectra. The latter can easily be explained as Doppler-shifted combination frequencies of breather harmonics and a discreteness-induced perturbation frequency.Received: 18 December 2003, Published online: 15 March 2004PACS: 63.20.Ry Anharmonic lattice modes - 63.20.Pw Localized modes  相似文献

We present a comparison of quantum and “semiclassical” trajectories of coherent states that correspond to classical breather solutions of finite discrete nonlinear Schrödinger (DNLS) lattices. The main goal is to explain earlier numerical observations of recurrent return to the vicinity of initial coherent states corresponding to stable breathers that are also spatially localized. This effect can be considered as a quantum manifestation of classical spatial localization. We show that these phenomena are encoded in a simple expression for the distance between the quantum and semiclassical states that involves the basic frequencies of the classical and quantum systems, as well as the breather amplitude and quantum spectral decomposition of the system. A corollary is that recurrence phenomena are robust under perturbation of the initial conditions for stable breathers.  相似文献

We study the critical scaling and dynamical signatures of fractionalized excitations at two different deconfined quantum critical points (DQCPs) in an S = 1/2 spin chain using the time evolution of infinite matrix product states. The scaling of the correlation functions and the dispersion of the conserved current correlations explicitly show the emergence of enhanced continuous symmetries at these DQCPs. The dynamical structure factors in several different channels reveal the development of deconfined fractionalized excitations at the DQCPs. Furthermore, we find an effective spin-charge separation at the DQCP between the ferromagnetic (FM) and valence bond solid (VBS) phases, and identify two continua associated with different types of fractionalized excitations at the DQCP between the X-direction and Z-direction FM phases. Our findings not only provide direct evidence for the DQCP in one dimension but also shed light on exploring the DQCP in higher dimensions.  相似文献

The techniques of microwave quantum optics are applied to collective spin excitations in a macroscopic sphere of a ferromagnetic insulator. We demonstrate, in the single-magnon limit, strong coupling between a magnetostatic mode in the sphere and a microwave cavity mode. Moreover, we introduce a superconducting qubit in the cavity and couple the qubit with the magnon excitation via the virtual photon excitation. We observe the magnon–vacuum-induced Rabi splitting. The hybrid quantum system enables generation and characterization of non-classical quantum states of magnons.  相似文献

Inelastic light-scattering measurements of low-lying collective excitations of electron double layers in the quantum Hall state at total filling nu(T)=1 reveal a deep magnetoroton in the dispersion of charge-density excitations across the tunneling gap. The roton softens and sharpens markedly when the phase boundary for transitions to highly correlated compressible states is approached. The findings are interpreted with Hartree-Fock evaluations that link soft magnetorotons to enhanced excitonic Coulomb interactions and to quantum phase transitions in the ferromagnetic bilayers.  相似文献

Nonlinear classical Hamiltonian lattices exhibit generic solutions in the form of discrete breathers. These solutions are time-periodic and (typically exponentially) localized in space. The lattices exhibit discrete translational symmetry. Discrete breathers are not confined to certain lattice dimensions. Necessary ingredients for their occurrence are the existence of upper bounds on the phonon spectrum (of small fluctuations around the groundstate) of the system as well as the nonlinearity in the differential equations. We will present existence proofs, formulate necessary existence conditions, and discuss structural stability of discrete breathers. The following results will be also discussed: the creation of breathers through tangent bifurcation of band edge plane waves; dynamical stability; details of the spatial decay; numerical methods of obtaining breathers; interaction of breathers with phonons and electrons; movability; influence of the lattice dimension on discrete breather properties; quantum lattices — quantum breathers. Finally we will formulate a new conceptual approach capable of predicting whether discrete breathers exist for a given system or not, without actually solving for the breather. We discuss potential applications in lattice dynamics of solids (especially molecular crystals), selective bond excitations in large molecules, dynamical properties of coupled arrays of Josephson junctions, and localization of electromagnetic waves in photonic crystals with nonlinear response.  相似文献

Two-discrete breathers are the bound states of two localized modes that can appear in classical nonlinear lattices. I investigate the quantum signature of two-discrete breathers in the system of ultracold bosonic atoms in optical lattices, which is modeled as Bose–Hubbard model containing n bosons. When the number of bosons is small, I find numerically quantum two-breathers by making use of numerical diagonalization and perturbation theory. For the cases of a large number of bosons, I can successfully construct quantum two-breather states in the Hartree approximation.  相似文献

We study by exact diagonalization, in the lowest Landau level approximation, the Coulomb interaction problem of N=4 and N=6 quantum dots in the limit of zero Zeeman coupling. We find that meron excitations constitute the lowest lying states of the quantum dots. This is based on a mapping between the excitations of the dot and states of the Haldane-Shastry spin chain.  相似文献

Discrete breathers (nonlinear localized modes) have been shown to exist in various nonlinear Hamiltonian lattice systems. This paper is devoted to the investigation of a classical d-dimensional ferromagnetic lattice with easy plane anisotropy. Its dynamics is described via the Heisenberg model. Discrete breathers exist in such a model and represent excitations with locally tilted magnetization. They possess energy thresholds and have no analogs in the continuum limit. We are going to review the previous results on such solutions and also to report new results. Among the new results we show the existence of a big variety of these breather solutions, depending on the respective orientation of the tilted spins. Floquet stability analysis has been used to classify the stable solutions depending on their spatial structure, their frequency, and other system parameters, such as exchange interaction and local (single-ion) anisotropy.  相似文献

We consider the one-dimensional quantum disordered Heisenberg ferromagnetic chain model with long-range correlated exchange couplings and study the nature of collective two-spin excitations. By using an exact diagonalization of the Hamiltonian in the two-spin flip subspace, we compute the spin wave participation number to characterize the localized or delocalized nature of the two-magnon states. For strongly correlated random exchange couplings, extended two-spin excitations with finite energy appear. Integrating the time-dependent Schroedinger equation, we follow the time-evolution of an initially localized two-spin state. We find that, associated with the emergence of extended spin waves, the wave-packet mean-square displacement develops a ballistic spread. Further, the single-spin wave-packet acquires an asymmetric profile due to the kinematic interaction between the excited spins.  相似文献

We investigate the topological excitations of rotating spin-1 ferromagnetic Bose–Einstein condensates with spin–orbit coupling (SOC) in an in-plane quadrupole field. Such a system sustains a rich variety of exotic vortex structures due to the spinor order parameter and the interplay among in-plane quadrupole field, SOC, rotation, and interatomic interaction. For the nonrotating case, with the increase of the quadrupole field strength, the system experiences a transition from a coreless polar-core vortex with a bright soliton to a singular polar-core vortex with a density hole. Without rotation but with a fixed quadrupole field, when the SOC strength increases, the system transforms from a central Mermin–Ho vortex into a criss-crossed vortex–antivortex string lattice. For the rotating case, we give a phase diagram with respect to the quadrupole field strength and the SOC strength. It is shown that the rotating system supports four typical quantum phases: vortex necklace, diagonal vortex chain cluster, single diagonal vortex chain, and few vortex states. Furthermore, the system favors novel spin textures and skyrmion excitations including an antiskyrmion, a criss-crossed half-skyrmion–half-antiskyrmion lattice, a skyrmion-meron necklace, a symmetric half-skyrmion lattice, and an asymmetric skyrmion-meron lattice.  相似文献

We present a theory of single-electron tunneling transport through a ferromagnetic nanoparticle in which particle-hole excitations are coupled to spin collective modes. The model employed to describe the interaction between quasiparticles and collective excitations captures the salient features of a recent microscopic study. Our analysis of nonlinear quantum transport in the regime of weak coupling to the external electrodes is based on a rate-equation formalism for the nonequilibrium occupation probability of the nanoparticle many-body states. For strong electron-boson coupling, we find that the tunneling conductance as a function of bias voltage is characterized by a large and dense set of resonances. Their magnetic field dependence in the large-field regime is linear, with slopes of the same sign. Both features are in agreement with recent tunneling experiments.  相似文献

The specific heat of an infinite one-dimensional polymer chain bearing periodically arranged side radicals connected to the even sites is studied by means of quantum transfer-matrix method based on a Ising-Heisenberg model. In the absence of the exchange interactions between side radicals and the main chain, the curves of specific heat show a round peak due to the antiferromagnetic excitations for the all antiferromagnetic interactions along the polymer chain. Considering the exchange interactions between the side radicals and the main chain, the curves of the specific heat show double-peak structure for ferromagnetic interactions between the radicals and main chain, indicating that a competition between ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic interactions and the possibility of the occurrence of the stable ferrimagnetic state along the polymer chain.  相似文献

It is shown both analytically and numerically that three-dimensional low-frequency (acoustic) breathers identified as localized coupled bend and twist nonlinear waves can exist in polyethylene (PE) crystal. Their motion along the chain is accompanied by the simultaneous excitation of both (“zig” and “zag”) sub-chains forming PE macromolecule. In the region of a breather one can observe intensive out-of-plane motion of carbon atoms and relatively small displacements in the plane of the zigzag. In spite of this smallness, the “secondary” nonlinear effects turn out to be crucial for the existence of breathers. Both the existence and stability of low-frequency breathers in free motion are confirmed by computer simulation, using the Molecular Dynamics (MD) procedure. The stability of breathers with respect to thermal excitations as well as to mutual collisions and collisions with optical breathers is also discussed. We study also the breathers’ formation in different conditions. It turns out that the frequencies and extensions of the breathers can be varied in very narrow regions predicted by our analytical solution.  相似文献
