In this paper it is shown that one can choose an arbitrarily large number of inconjugate elements of the group Z/2Z*Z/2Z*Z/2Z which have the property that, under all representations of the group in SU(2,1) as a discrete complex hyperbolic ideal triangle group, the elements are hyperbolic and correspond to closed geodesics of equal length on the associated complex hyperbolic surface. This is an analogue of the geometric fact that the multiplicity of the length spectrum of a Riemann surface is never bounded or the equivalent algebraic phenomenon that an arbitrarily large number of conjugacy classes in a free group can have the same trace under all representations in SL(2,R ). 相似文献

We calculate distances between arbitrary elements of the Lie groups SU(2) and SO(3) for special left-invariant sub-Riemannian metrics ρ and d. In computing distances for the second metric, we substantially use the fact that the canonical two-sheeted covering epimorphism Ω of SU(2) onto SO(3) is a submetry and a local isometry in the metrics ρ and d. Despite the fact that the proof uses previously known formulas for geodesics starting at the unity, F. Klein’s formula for Ω, trigonometric functions, and the conventional differential calculus of functions of one real variable, we focus attention on a careful application of these simple tools in order to avoid the mistakes made in previously published mathematical works in this area. 相似文献

In the first part of this paper the five-dimensional contact SO(3)-manifolds are classified up to equivariant coorientation
preserving contactomorphisms. The construction of such manifolds with singular orbits requires the use of generalized Dehn
twists. We show as an application that all simply connected 5-manifolds with singular orbits are realized by a Brieskorn manifold
with exponents (k,2,2,2). The standard contact structure on such a manifold gives right-handed Dehn twists, and a second contact structure
defined in the article gives left-handed twists. In an appendix we also describe the classification of five-dimensional contact

and T. Shioda using Mordell-Weil lattices of elliptic curves. In this paper we classify all globally irreducible representations

We study SU(3)-structures induced on orientable hypersurfaces of seven-dimensional manifolds with G2-structure. Taking Gray-Hervella types for both structures into account, we relate the type of SU(3)-structure and the type of G2-structure with the shape tensor of the hypersurface. In this paper we find explicit formulas for the matrix coefficient of the energy-momentum tensor and current operators in the SU(2)-invariant Thirring model. We show that the operators defined by these matrix coefficients commute on a space-like interval.
