Accurate pulse-height ratios for α-particle and electron excitations are determined for single crystals of anthracene, naphthalene, terphenyl, diphenyl, diphenylene oxide, fluorene, stilbene, and plastic scintillator. The α/β-ratios are strongly dependent on the impact direction of the α-particles with respect to the crystal axes because of the anisotropic light yield for α-particles.  相似文献

The polarisation of the fluorescence spectra of the organic scintillation crystals naphthalene, anthracene, terphenyl, quaterphenyl and stilbene is measured by excitation with α-particles. The measurements are carried out with thin crystal plates of different crystallographic orientation and for different angles of incidence of α-particles. Careful experiments showed that the polarisation values of anthracene do not depend on the angle of incidence of α-particles. A simple model is proposed for explaining the results and the polarisation values are discussed and compared with corresponding values of UV-investigations of other authors.  相似文献

The article deals with a method of measuring the scintillation responce of anthracene and organic plastic scintillators for electrons of 1 to 12 keV. It results in stating that the scintillation response is a linear function of the electron energy down to energies of 4 or 5 keV. Scintillator thickness and surface preparation are of great importance for a linear scintillation response.  相似文献
