We have made superconducting samples of the Y-Ba-Cu-O system with 6% Fe substituted for the Cu. The sample has been verified by X-ray diffraction to be a single-phased 1-2-3 compound. The 6% Fe substitution reduces Tc from 94 to 80 K. The room temperature Mössbauer spectrum shows two pairs of doublets, indicating there are two distinct Cu sites in the sample. The most surprising result is that magnetic ordering of the Fe coexists with superconductivity of the material at 4.2 K.  相似文献

The crystal structure of the superconducting compounds RBa2Cu3O9– where R is one of the rare earth metals Ho, Eu or Y, has been studied at room-temperature at pressures up to 60 GPa by synchrotron X-ray powder diffraction in a diamond anvil cell using the energy dispersive method At increasing pressure the compounds show semilar behavior with a bulk modulus in the range 140–176 GPa and a phase transition from an orthorhombic to a tetragonal structure at around 20 GPa. The transition is without a volume change and shows no hysteresis.  相似文献

Two samples of Y1Ba2Cu3O9−δ, one fabricated at Los Alamos National Laboratory and the other at the University of Wuppertal, were tested in the rf field of a niobium cavity at 3 GHz and in a temperature range from 4.2 to 300 K. The data show a sharp reduction of the Joule losses in the samples beginning at an onset temperature of 98 and 92 K, respectively. The residual losses of the sample were measured at 4.2 K where the host cavity was superconducting. The ratio of these losses to the ones observed slightly above Tc was less than 1.1 × 10−2. This indicates that only a small fraction of the conduction electrons of the Y1Ba2Cu3O9-δ sample remain unpaired. The dependence of the rf losses on the rf magnetic field allows the determination of a maximum surface current density which is found to be about 5 × 104 A/cm2.  相似文献

Point-contact spectra of YBa2(Cu1–x Zn x )3O7/Ag are studied at various temperatures. The differential resistance dV/dI of the point contacts shows gap-related structures belowT c which can be attributed to Andreev reflection. Evaluation of many spectra for each sample taken at 4.2 K yields a wide distribution of voltages /e at which these structures occur. The upper limit varies roughly as expected from the depression ofT c by Zn-doping from /e=29 mV (x=0) to 9 mV (x=0.05), while the lower limit decreases much faster and disappears forx=0.05. Hence, the Zn doped samples exhibit a tendency to gapless superconductivity as suggested earlier on the basis of specific-heat measurements.  相似文献

Temperature dependencies of acoustic lossesQ –1 and of relative sound velocity change v/v in YBa2Cu3O7– up to 60 K are calculated by the tunneling model theory. The tunneling systems are related to the off-centered positions of the apical oxygen atoms O(A) and are described through the pseudo-Jahn-Teller effect. Tunneling systems' parameters are distributed in narrow range of values and are in correspondence with the experimentally observed infrared phonon spectra and thermal ellipsoids of O(A). Respective relaxation times are calculated by the adapted reaction rate method. The calculatedQ –1(T) and v(T)/v dependencies are in good agreement with the experimental data, which is an additional support to the conclusion about the existence of tunneling systems in YBa2Cu3O7– due to the pseudo Jahn-Teller effect.  相似文献

We have performed detailed high temperature X-ray diffraction to study the nature of the structural phase of YBa2Cu3O7−δ. The results indicate the existence of a reversible orthorhombic to tetragonal phase transition at a temperature close to 750°C. If the high temperature tetragonal phase is quenched-in at low temperatures the critical superconducting temperature is considerably reduced from 92.5 K. This suggests that the one dimensional CuO chains present in the orthorhombic structure are necessary for high temperature superconductivity.  相似文献

Abstract

Both X-ray diffraction and the Mössbauer effect have been used to study the double rare-earth oxide solid solutions (REu)O3 (R = Pr, Nd, Sm), which were synthesized with a combination of high pressure and high temperature for the first time. It is shown that all products are of the B-type (monoclinic) structures of single phase. The hyperfine interactions depend strongly on the ligand volume of Eu ions.  相似文献

57Fe Mössbauer spectra of a sample of YBa2(Cu0.985Fe0.015)3O7−σ for which Tc≈59 K show that long-range magnetic order is established below ∼ K. A model in which the Fe spins are aligned with the crystallographic c-axis provides satisfactory agreement with the observed relaxation spectra. This result is discussed with reference to current theoretical models of high-Tc superconductivity which involve magnetic coupling mechanisms.  相似文献

Electrical resistivity measurements under pressure have been carried out on the high-temperature superconductor YBa2Cu3O7 – as a function of temperature T between 1 and 300 K at various pressures between 8 kbar and 149 kbar. The superconducting transition temperature Tc increases almost linearly with pressure at the rate dTc/dP - 0.13 K/kbar. The onset of Tc, defined as the temperature at which(T) drops to 90% of its extrapolated normal state value, increases from 95 K at 8 kbar to 107 K at 149 kbar. These results suggest that higher pressures will yield yet higher values of Tc.  相似文献

We report a far-infrared reflectivity study of DyBa2Cu4O8, HoBa2Cu4O8 and Y2Ba4Cu7O15– superconductors in the temperature range 10–300 K. The assignment of thez-polarized infrared-acitve vibrations of the rare-earth-ion (R) was verified by the substitution ofR. Since the structure of the Y2Ba4Cu7O15– compound inz-direction is an ordered sequence of YBa2Cu3O7– and YBa2Cu4O8 blocks, the phonon spectrum of Y2Ba4Cu7O15– is a superposition of their respective phonon modes. The temperature dependence of the infrared-active phonons in RBa2Cu4O8 and Y2Ba4Cu7O15– was analyzed. A narrowing of the plane-oxygen phonon upon sample cooling was found to occur atT c , as it was reported for single-chain YBa2Cu3O7 materials; however a pronounced frequency softening of this mode for both RBa2Cu4O8 and Y2Ba4Cu7O15– was found to start well aboveT c , suggesting the interaction of infrared-active phonons with an excitation gap similar to that observed in spin-dependent measurements.  相似文献

R-site magnetic rare-earth ions in superconducting RBa2Cu3O7-δ cannot both fill holes and break pairs. Therefore the observation of both phenomena implies that some rare-earth ions occupy sites other than the R-sites, presumably Ba sites.  相似文献

Preparation of (B1−xCx)(Sr1−yBay)2Ca2Cu3Oz has been studied using high-pressure synthesis technique to improve sample quality. Samples were prepared from various starting compositions of 0.2≤x≤0.8 and 0≤y≤1. Nearly single-phased samples were obtained for (B0.6C0.4)(Sr1−yBay)2Ca2Cu3Oz (0≤y≤0.75) and (B1−xCx)-(Sr0.25Ba0.75)2Ca2Cu3Oz (0.3≤x≤0.6). We have found that the partial substitution of Ba is effective to improve the sample quality as well as to enhance the Tc. The C substitution was also demonstrated to affect the sample preparation and the physical properties. Based on the substitution study, a maximum Tc of 120 K was observed for the sample with a starting composition of (B0.65C0.35)(Sr0.3Ba0.7)2Ca2Cu3O9+δ. Critical current density (Jc) and irreversibility field (Hirr) were estimated from magnetization measurements. The Jc at 77 K in a field of 1 T was about 1.1×104 A/cm3 and the Hirr at 77 K was about 2.5 T. The Hirr was well-described by Hirr=a(1−T/Tc)n with a=39.1 and n=2.38.  相似文献

Precision X-ray structural studies were carried out for LiNbO3:Znx single crystals with x=0.0, 2.87, 5.20, and 7.60 at. %. It was found that the insertion of the Zn atoms into the Li position was accompanied by a decrease in the concentration of intrinsic NbLi defects. At x=7.6%, the Zn atoms change their locations in the lattice and partially occupy the Nb positions. This clarifies the structural nature of the “threshold” Zn concentration, which manifests itself as singularities in the concentration dependences of various optical properties. The structural origin of the threshold concentration is likely a common feature of all nonphotorefractive impurities (Mg, Zn, In, and Sc) in LiNbO3. A change in the intrinsic defect structure of the LiNbO3 crystals with different Zn concentrations is discussed.  相似文献

We consider the factors determining the energy yield of crystallophosphors based on single-crystal films of oxides of the system Al2−Y2O3−R2O3 (R is the rare-earth ions) that are used as different types of luminescent converters. Special features of producing the films by the method of liquid-phase epitaxy from Pb−B2O3 and Bi2O3-based fluxes are analyzed, and the advantages of this method for production of efficient luminophors, which are based on high-melting oxides doped with mercury-like impurities, are shown. It is established that the main factor that bounds the crystallophosphor luminous yield is the presence of donor-acceptor complexes of the Pb2+−Pb4+ and Fe3+−Fe2+-type that form different channels of dissipation of excitation energy. The means of minimizing the contribution of these ions to the processes of excitation-energy relaxation are discussed. Institute of Applied Physics, I. A complete solid solution range exists between the systems YBa2Cu3O7−δ and (Pb,Cu)Sr2(Ca,Y)Cu2O7−δ has been found with general stoichiometry (Pb0.75xCu1−0.75x)(Sr2xBa2−2x)(Ca0.5xY1−0.5x)Cu2O7−δ. Energy dispersive spectrometry and X-ray diffraction identified that a true solid solution exists. Superlattice structures observed by electron diffraction across the solid solution range have a modulation range have a modulation periods along a* which can be varied by altering both the compositional parameter x and the overall oxygen content. The existence of these superlattices infers that the solid solution is non-random and therefore thermodynamically non-ideal. The superconducting transition temperatures, Tc, across the solid solution range are also strongly dependent on the composition, x, but no direct relationship with the modulation period has been established. From these studies it may be concluded that the solid solution between known superconductors is possible, although involving some partial ordering of the lattice, but ordering of cations in the rock-salt to charge reservoir layer is not a significant factor in determining the superconducting properities, which depend more closely on the overall composition and hence on the ability of the charge reservoir layer to transfer charge to the superconducting layers.  相似文献

We have measured the magnetic susceptibility, resistivity, magnetoresistivity and Hall effect of nonstoichiometric cuprous selenide between 5 and 350 K. Our results show that below 170 K Cu2−xSe is a mixture of diamagnetic Cu1.995Se and paramagnetic Cu3Se2. The phase diagram of the Cu–Se system, in which 170 K represents the eutectic isotherm, governs the relative content of the two phases. For the Cu3Se2 phase a transition to an antiferromagnetic state is observed at about 50 K, with the corresponding Weiss temperature Θ=120 K. On heating above 170 K Cu2−xSe becomes completely diamagnetic, but the transformation is slow and strongly time dependent. The complicated magnetic behaviour is ascribed to a broad temperature hysteresis of the process.  相似文献

The method of point laser heating of a sample is used to perform experimental investigations of the electrical conductivity of YBa2Cu3O7−x ceramic in the vicinity of its critical state. It is found that, in the vicinity of transition to the superconducting state, the electrical conductivity of the ceramic exhibits a clusterlike behavior substantially nonuniform over the sample cross section. The topology of a superconducting cluster is investigated, as well as its spatial localization in the sample. A model of the formation of a superconducting cluster in a ceramic superconductor is suggested.  相似文献

The electronic component of the total conductivity in the normal state is evaluated. Abstract

Besides investigating a number of oxides of the series La2?xMxCuO4 (M=Ba, Pb, Sr), we have, in this investigation emphasised on the studies of the effect of annealing conditions on superconducting properties of composition La1.8Sr0.2CuO4. The effect is remarkable and is di'scuss'ed in the light of X-ray diffraction results. These samples, studied after a gap of two months, showed interesting changes which has been discussed in the present paper.  相似文献
