The uniform stabilization of an originally regarded nondissipative system described by a semilinear wave equation with variable coefficients under the nonlinear boundary feedback is considered. The existence of both weak and strong solutions to the system is proven by the Galerkin method. The exponential stability of the system is obtained by introducing an equivalent energy function and using the energy multiplier method on the Riemannian manifold. This equivalent energy function shows particularly that the system is essentially a dissipative system. This result not only generalizes the result from constant coefficients to variable coefficients for these kinds of semilinear wave equations but also simplifies significantly the proof for constant coefficients case considered in [A. Guesmia, A new approach of stabilization of nondissipative distributed systems, SIAM J. Control Optim. 42 (2003) 24-52] where the system is claimed to be nondissipative.  相似文献

In this paper we study the stabilization of plate vibrations by means of piezoelectric actuators. In this situation the geometric control condition of Bardos, Lebeau and Rauch [6] is not satisfied. We prove that we have exponential stability for the low frequencies but not for the high frequencies. We give an explicit decay rate for regular initial data at high frequencies while clarifying the behavior of the constant which intervenes in this estimation there function of the frequency of cut n. The method used is based on some trace regularity which reduces stability to some observability inequalities for the corresponding undamped problem. Moreover, we show numerically at low frequencies, that the optimal location of the actuator is the center of the domain Ω. In this paper we consider the decay and blow-up properties of a viscoelastic wave equation with boundary damping and source terms. We first extend the decay result (for the case of linear damping) obtained by Lu et al. (On a viscoelastic equation with nonlinear boundary damping and source terms: Global existence and decay of the solution, Nonlinear Analysis: Real World Applications 12 (1) (2011), 295-303) to the nonlinear damping case under weaker assumption on the relaxation function g(t). Then, we give an exponential decay result without the relation between g(t) and g(t) for the linear damping case, provided that ‖gL1(0,) is small enough. Finally, we establish two blow-up results: one is for certain solutions with nonpositive initial energy as well as positive initial energy for both the linear and nonlinear damping cases, the other is for certain solutions with arbitrarily positive initial energy for the linear damping case.  相似文献

Based on a new a priori estimate method, so-called asymptotic a priori estimate, the existence of a global attractor is proved for the wave equation utt+kg(ut)−Δu+f(u)=0 on a bounded domain ΩR3 with Dirichlet boundary conditions. The nonlinear damping term g is supposed to satisfy the growth condition C1(|s|−C2)?|g(s)|?C3(1+p|s|), where 1?p<5; the damping parameter is arbitrary; the nonlinear term f is supposed to satisfy the growth condition |f(s)|?C4(1+q|s|), where q?2. It is remarkable that when 2<p<5, we positively answer an open problem in Chueshov and Lasiecka [I. Chueshov, I. Lasiecka, Long-time behavior of second evolution equations with nonlinear damping, Math. Scuola Norm. Sup. (2004)] and improve the corresponding results in Feireisl [E. Feireisl, Global attractors for damped wave equations with supercritical exponent, J. Differential Equations 116 (1995) 431-447].  相似文献

For low values of the viscosity coefficient, Burgers equation can develop sharp discontinuities, which are difficult to simulate in a computer. Oscillations can occur by discretization through spectral collocation methods, due to Gibbs phenomena. Under a dynamic point of view, these instabilities are related to bifurcations arising to the discretized equation. For different values of discretized points, herein a study is performed of the dynamics and bifurcations occurring in the spectral solutions of Burgers equation with symmetry. Several phenomena are observed, from limit cycles, strange attractors to the presence of bistability with two periodic attractors, with a periodic attractor and a strange attractor and with two strange attractors. Also, other stable equilibrium points can occur, diverse from the ones corresponding to the solution of Burgers equation.  相似文献

The purpose of this work is to study the exponential stabilization of the Korteweg-de Vries equation in the right half-line under the effect of a localized damping term. We follow the methods in [G.P. Menzala, C.F. Vasconcellos, E. Zuazua, Stabilization of the Korteweg-de Vries equation with localized damping, Quart. Appl. Math. LX (1) (2002) 111-129] which combine multiplier techniques and compactness arguments and reduce the problem to prove the unique continuation property of weak solutions. Here, the unique continuation is obtained in two steps: we first prove that solutions vanishing on the support of the damping function are necessarily smooth and then we apply the unique continuation results proved in [J.C. Saut, B. Scheurer, Unique continuation for some evolution equations, J. Differential Equations 66 (1987) 118-139]. In particular, we show that the exponential rate of decay is uniform in bounded sets of initial data.  相似文献

In this paper, the boundary stabilization for a Kirchhoff-type nonlinear beam with one end fixed and control at the other end is considered. A gain adaptive controller is designed in terms of measured end velocity. The existence and uniqueness of the classical solution of the closed-loop system are justified. The exponential stability of the system is obtained.  相似文献

A general linear quadratic (LQ) optimal control problem, with the dynamic system being governed by a higher-order vector-valued ordinary differential equation and with inequality-constraints on the state vector and/or the control input, is studied. Based on an explicit characterization result, optimal solutions are obtained in closed-form. A constructive method for finding the closed-form optimal solutions is proposed, and two illustrative examples are included  相似文献

In this paper we consider a linearized model for fluid-structure interaction in one space dimension. The domain where the system evolves consists in two parts in which the wave and heat equations evolve, respectively, with transmission conditions at the interface. First of all we develop a careful spectral asymptotic analysis on high frequencies for the underlying semigroup. It is shown that the semigroup governed by the system can be split into a parabolic and a hyperbolic projection. The dissipative mechanism of the system in the domain where the heat equation holds produces a slow decay of the hyperbolic component of solutions. According to this analysis we obtain sharp polynomial decay rates for the whole energy of smooth solutions. Next, we discuss the problem of null-controllability of the system when the control acts on the boundary of the domain where the heat equation holds. The key observability inequality of the dual system with observation on the heat component is derived though a new Ingham-type inequality, which in turn, thanks to our spectral analysis, is a consequence of a known observability inequality of the same system but with observation on the wave component.  相似文献

We consider systems of Timoshenko type in a one-dimensional bounded domain. The physical system is damped by a single feedback force, only in the equation for the rotation angle, no direct damping is applied on the equation for the transverse displacement of the beam. Moreover the damping is assumed to be nonlinear with no growth assumption at the origin, which allows very weak damping. We establish a general semi-explicit formula for the decay rate of the energy at infinity in the case of the same speed of propagation in the two equations of the system. We prove polynomial decay in the case of different speed of propagation for both linear and nonlinear globally Lipschitz feedbacks.   相似文献

In this paper, we study the convergence of the wave equation with variable internal damping term γn(x)ut to the wave equation with boundary damping γ(x)⊗δx∈∂Ωut when (γn(x)) converges to γ(x)⊗δx∈∂Ω in the sense of distributions. When the domain Ω in which these equations are defined is an interval in R, we show that, under natural hypotheses, the compact global attractor of the wave equation damped on the interior converges in X=H1(ΩL2(Ω) to the one of the wave equation damped on the boundary, and that the dynamics on these attractors are equivalent. We also prove, in the higher-dimensional case, that the attractors are lower-semicontinuous in X and upper-semicontinuous in H1−ε(ΩHε(Ω).  相似文献

In this paper, we establish a generalized Hölder's or interpolation inequality for weighted spaces in which the weights are non-necessarily homogeneous. We apply it to the stabilization of some damped wave-like evolution equations. This allows obtaining explicit decay rates for smooth solutions for more general classes of damping operators. In particular, for 1−d models, we can give an explicit decay estimate for pointwise damping mechanisms supported on any strategic point.  相似文献
