Results of experimental and theoretical studies of acoustoseismic wave fields generated by surface seismic vibrators are presented. In experiments with high-power seismic vibrators operating in a frequency range of 5–10 Hz, acoustic waves were recorded at distances up to 50 km from the source. The long-range sound propagation from seismic vibration sources was observed in a near-surface waveguide arising due to temperature inversion. The effect of the acoustoseismic induction, i.e., excitation of surface seismic waves by the acoustic wave arriving from the vibrator, was also detected. The results of mathematical modeling of the acoustoseismic field generation by an operating seismic vibrator are presented. They include the modeling of the radiation of a harmonic acoustic wave’s by the vibrator, its trapping by the near-surface waveguide, the long-range low-frequency acoustic wave propagation in the presence of the waveguide, and the induction of a surface seismic wave by the arriving harmonic acoustic wave. It is shown that a seismoacoustic wave propagating at the boundary between the elastic earth and the atmosphere is an analog of the Stonely wave that appears in the presence of a near-surface low-temperature layer in the atmosphere.  相似文献

Theoretical approach to the solution of georadiolocation (inverse) problem of reconstructing the antenna current and the permittivity of the underlying surface, based on the measurements of the field propagating along the Earth℉s surface, is proposed. An expression for the tangential component of the electric field of the surface wave from a transmitting antenna lying in the plane of discontinuity of two homogeneous media is expressed in terms of the Laplace function Ŵ(q, ζ) of two complex arguments for any discontinuity parameters. The function Ŵ(q, ζ) is presented as series, which make it possible to calculate rapidly the values of Ŵ(q, ζ) and investigate its analytic properties. The inverse Laplace transform is performed by integrating the function Ŵ(q, ζ) over closed contours. The corresponding integrals are proper in this case, due to which the calculation time greatly decreases in comparison with the Fourier transform. When the permittivity dispersion can be neglected, the tangential component of the surface wave is algebraically expressed in terms of the function Ŵ(q, ζ). This circumstance allows one to decrease the time for calculating the surface wave at a specified point to several milliseconds and determine both the current through the transmitting antenna and the permittivity of the underlying surface for a few seconds.  相似文献

Shock waves generated by a laser-induced plasma were investigated using a pump-and-probe technique. Both 7-ns and 40-ps laser pulses at 1.06 m were employed to initiate breakdown in water. Two He-Ne laser beams were used as a velocity probe, allowing the accurate measurement of the shock velocity around the plasma. The maximum shock pressure was determined from the measured shock velocities, the jump condition and the equation of state for water. The conservation of the total momentum of the shock front was used to derive expressions for the shock velocity, particle velocity and shock pressure vs. the distance (r) from the center of the plasma. For a shock wave of spherical symmetry, the shock pressure is proportional to 1/r 2. Our work shows that the expanding plasma initially induces a shock wave; the shock wave dissipates rapidly becoming an acoustic wave within 300–500 m.  相似文献

Dispersion and attenuation of Rayleigh surface acoustic waves on a statistically rough free surface of a Z-cut hexagonal crystal were analytically studied using a modified mean-field method within the perturbation theory. Numerical calculations were carried out in the frequency range accessible for the perturbation theory using expressions for the real and imaginary parts of the complex frequency shift of Rayleigh waves caused by a slight surface roughness. The Rayleigh wave dispersion and attenuation in the Z-cut hexagonal crystal were shown to coincide qualitatively with those in an isotropic medium, differing only quantitatively. In the long-wavelength limit λ?a, where a is the lateral roughness correlation length, explicit analytical expressions for the relative change in the phase velocity and the inverse damping depth of Rayleigh waves were derived and used in numerical calculations.  相似文献

A method of determining stress at a point is suggested here. The effect of bending of a wave front that is due to variations of the refractive index is used to measure different aspects of stresses. A Fourier lens with a cross slit at its front focal plane is used to form interference fringes at planes near its back focal plane. The sample, illuminated by a plane-parallel coherent beam of light, is placed close to a cross slit, and the change in fringe pattern due to axial shift of the spectrum planes of the slits is measured to relate it to the state of stress.  相似文献

This paper investigates Rayleigh wave interaction with machined slots on flat aluminium blocks to simulate surface breaking cracks. Using a finite element method, Rayleigh wave scattering by narrow slots of varied depth ranging from 0.5 mm to 20 mm is calculated. Pulsed wideband Rayleigh waves with a centre frequency of 590 kHz and -6 dB bandwidth of 520 kHz is considered. Reflection and transmission coefficients are calculated and compare well with the published literature. We and other workers have reported enhancement of the measured amplitude or particle velocity of an apparent Rayleigh wave close to a surface defect. In this paper, it is found that the predicted enhancement of in-plane components of particle velocities close to a crack is significantly higher than that of the out-of-plane components of particle velocities which appears to be mainly due to the mode-converted surface skimming longitudinal wave from the crack that has mainly in-plane components near the sample surface. The enhancement of the in-plane particle velocity will be observed regardless of the type of in-plane sensitive ultrasonic detector used. The explanation of the discrepancy of the reflection and transmission coefficients obtained by pulsed and narrow band or pseudo continuous Rayleigh waves is discussed. The later-arriving Rayleigh waves from reverberation along the inside of the crack surface are observed, as has been previously reported by other workers, and this may also be used to gauge slot depth.  相似文献

Advances in laser ultrasonics have opened new possibilities in medical applications, such as the characterization of skin properties. This paper describes the development of a multilayered finite element model (FEM) using ANSYS to simulate the propagation of laser generated thermoelastic surface acoustic waves (SAWs) through skin and to generate signals one would expect to observe without causing thermal damage to skin. A transient thermal analysis is developed to simulate the thermal effect of the laser source penetrating into the skin. The results from the thermal analysis are subsequently applied as a load to the structural analysis where the out-of-plane displacement responses are analysed in models with varying dermis layer thickness.  相似文献

The correlation function was described by the Karman distribution with the index n=2 approximately?11/6. Applying Bourret's approximation, the exact expression for the mass operator has been calculated analytically. We study theoretically an electron frequency self-multiplier in which a surface mode of a periodic system is self-excited at a low frequency for a comparatively low current. The electron bunches, which appear as a result of this, excite the volume mode of an open resonator at the doubled frequency (coherent Smith-Purcell radiation). The open-resonator scheme allows one to obtain the higher power and coherence degree of radiation compared with the presently popular frequency multiplication scheme with an open periodic system (diffraction grating). The weakly relativistic and relativistic variants of the multipliers with a two-mirror open resonator designed for obtaining a high-power coherent radiation in the short-wavelength part of the millimeter and submillimeter ranges are studied numerically. The developed approach can also be used for designing high-power frequency multipliers on the basis of an array of nonlinear solid-state elements.  相似文献

The problem of the reflection of a plane single-frequency electromagnetic wave from a statistically rough dielectric boundary with arbitrary is solved in the perturbation approximation. The statistical characteristics (scattering cross section, change of polarization, and frequency spectrum) of a radar signal reflected from a rough sea surface are investigated. Rayleigh waves measurements are used to characterise cover concrete and mortar in the frequency range 60–180 kHz. At these frequencies, the wavelength is comparable to the size of the aggregates, and waves propagate in a multiple scattering regime. Acquired signals are then difficult to interpret due to an important incoherent part. The method proposed here is the study of the coherent waves, obtained by averaging signals over several configurations of disorder. Coherent waves give information on an equivalent homogeneous medium. To acquire a large amount of measurements with accuracy, an optimised piezoelectric source is used with a laser interferometer for reception. Adapted signal processing technique are presented to evaluate the coherent phase and group velocities and also the coherent attenuation parameter. The sensitivity of these three parameters with the properties of concrete is discussed, as well as the necessity to use coherent waves to obtain accurate results.  相似文献

The radiowave attenuation due to oxygen and water vapour has been computed over the frequency range 3–350 GHz making use of the mean surface air pressure, temperature and water vapour at Ile-Ife (geog. lat 7.5°N, long 4.5°E) in Southern Nigeria. It is observed that the attenuation at this tropical location is generally higher than at temperate climates. A similar analysis was performed for rainfall attenuation using rainfall intensity measurements. The results obtained with three different expressions for the rain height showed that a rain height of 3 km is a reasonable assumption for estimating earth-space rainfall attenuation at this location. It is found that for frequencies above 200 GHz, the polarization dependence of the specific attenuation due to rainfal becomes negligible. The computed attenuation is lower that that predicted using the corresponding CCIR rain climate data. The results show that whilst the contribution of oxygen and water vapour to the total atmospheric attenuation could be neglected when compared with rainfall attenuation up to about 150 GHz, the contribution becomes significant for frequencies above 190 GHz.  相似文献
