Under study in the restricted formulation is the motion of a symmetrical prolate stationary gyrostat along a Keplerian circular orbit in a central Newtonian field of forces. An elastic homogeneous rod, rectilinear in the undeformed state, is rigidly clamped by one end in the body of gyrostat along its axis of symmetry. There is a point mass at the free end of the rod. The inextensible elastic rod, for simplicity of constant circular cross-section, performs infinitesimal space oscillations in the process of system motion. In this case, we neglect the terms in the system’s tensor of inertia which are nonlinear with respect to displacements of the points of the rod.We consider the following (so-called semi-inverse) problem: Under what kinetic momentumof the flywheel, among the relative equilibriums of the system (the states of rest relative to the orbital coordinate system) does there exist an equilibrium such that the axis, arbitrarily chosen in the coordinate system associated with the gyrostat, is collinear with the local vertical? In the discretization of the problem, we present the values of the Lagrange coordinates that define the deformation of the rod for these equilibria and the value of gyrostatic moment providing the presence of the equilibrium in question.  相似文献

A tyre design consisting of a steel-cord-reinforced rigid bond with sides connected to the wheel disc and a protector(tread) in contact with the road is examined. The tread is in the form of a set of rods connected by one end to the band, with the other end either free or in contact with the road. The rod end in contact with the road is acted upon by a force applied from the road, represented by a force normal to the road plane and a shear force due to dry friction. If the modulus of the shear force does not exceed the magnitude of the normal force multiplied by the dry friction coefficient, there is no slip at the contact point. In the opposite case, the rod end will be displaced along the road by an amount sufficient to distribute the normal and shear forces. The dynamics of longitudinal and transverse strains of the rods in contact with the road is analysed using the motion separation method in the quasi-static approximation. The behaviour of the tread rods as a function of the vertical displacement of the wheel centre is investigated, the contact area is found and the conditions are determined under which the contact area is divided into parts in which either slip of the rod ends occurs or does not occur, depending on the magnitude of the longitudinal displacement of the wheel centre or its turning relative to the horizontal axis. An analogue of a continuous model of a rod-like tread is considered, and the magnitudes of the forces and moments are found as a function of the wheel disc displacements. The equations of wheel rolling are obtained, and the conditions under which steady motions exist are found.  相似文献

Optimal controls of the rotation of a mechanical system consisting of two rigid bodies, joined by an elastic rod, through a specified angle about an axis passing through the centre of mass of one of the bodies are constructed. The problem of the optimal control of the rotation of the system through a given angle with complete suppression of the oscillations of the elastic rod at the minimum of the energy functional of the control moment and the problem of time-optimality for a specified constraint on the energy functional of the control moment are solved.  相似文献

Longitudinal vibrations coupled with transverse vibrations of whirling rods are investigated. It is known that longitudinal and transverse vibrations are governed by second and fourth order differential equations, respectively. Due to the Coriolis effect, a system of equations that governs the longitudinal and transverse displacements will be constructed by coupling these two equations together. Solutions of the equations assume small oscillations of vibration being superimposed on the steady state of the whirling rod. Exact and approximate solutions are obtained from the proposed governing equations, where the approximate solutions on displacements and natural frequencies are acquired by neglecting the Coriolis effect. A proposed numerical scheme known as complete function collocation method is implemented to solve the governing equations coupled with longitudinal and transverse displacements. The approximate results on both longitudinal and transverse natural frequencies show that natural frequencies are decreasing while the angular velocity of the rod is increasing. Exact and numerical results on both longitudinal and transverse natural frequencies show that there are no predictable trends whether natural frequencies are increasing or decreasing while the angular velocity of the rod is increasing.  相似文献

A method of determining the regions of dynamic instability of an orthotropic cylindrical shell "bonded" to an elastic cylinder is proposed. An expression for the core reaction is obtained from the coupling conditions for the forces normal to the lateral surface and the radial displacements of the shell and the core at the contact surface. When the reaction is substituted in the system of equations of motion of the shell, the part corresponding to the free vibrations of the cylinder is discarded. The system of equations of motion of the shell is reduced to an equation of Mathieu type, from which transcendental equations for determining the boundaries of the regions of dynamic instability are obtained. These regions are analyzed for various modes of loss of stability and different values of the core modulus of elasticity.  相似文献

We consider mixed initial-boundary value problems for longitudinal vibrations described by the telegraph equation in the case of a system consisting of several parts with different densities and elasticities but with equal impedances. We consider the cases of control by displacements at both endpoints of the rod, by elastic forces at both endpoints, and by an elastic force at one endpoint and a displacement at the other endpoint. We find closed-form expressions for the solutions of these mixed problems.  相似文献

An orbital tether system, including a satellite (a rigid body), an elastic ponderable tether and a terminal load, is investigated. A mathematical model is obtained using Lagrange's equation of the second kind, which enables the plane translational motion of the centres of mass of the elements of the system and the rotational motion of the satellite and the tether to be investigated. It is shown that the equations of motion for the new independent variable, that is, the true anomaly angle, obtained on the assumption that the motion of the centre of mass of the system is independent of the relative motion of its elements, are an extension of the known mathematical models. The effect of the elasticity of the tether on the angular oscillations of the tether and the satellite is investigated. The model constructed can be used both to analyse of the deployment of a tether system as well as to investigate of the combined behaviour of a satellite and a tether about the natural centres of mass.  相似文献

Selim and Ahmed [1] used the eigenvalue approach by assuming distinct eigenvalues to calculate the elastic deformation due to an inclined load at any point as a result of an inclined line load of initially stressed orthotropic elastic medium. They studied the plane strain problem and obtained the corresponding results for an unstressed orthotropic medium as a particular case. In the present paper, it is shown that all the eigenvalues do not remain distinct, but become repeated when the elastic medium is free from the initial compressive stresses. Further, the displacements and stresses for an unstressed elastic medium have been independently obtained. The variation of the displacements and stresses due to normal and tangential line load are also shown graphically.  相似文献

A mathematical model is proposed to investigate the dynamic response of an inclined single-walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT) subjected to a viscous fluid flow. The tangential interaction of the inside fluid flow with the equivalent continuum structure (ECS) of the SWCNT is taken into account via a slip boundary condition. The dimensionless equations of motion describing longitudinal and lateral vibrations of the fluid-conveying ECS are obtained in the context of nonlocal elasticity theory of Eringen. The unknown displacement fields are expressed in terms of admissible mode shapes associated with the ECS under simply supported conditions with immovable ends. Using Galerkin method, the discrete form of the equations of motion is derived. The time history plots of the normalized longitudinal and transverse displacements as well as the nonlocal axial force and bending moment of the midspan point of the SWCNT are provided for different levels of the fluid flow speed, small-scale parameter, and inclination angle of the SWCNT. The effects of small-scale parameter, inclination angle, speed and density of the fluid flow on the maximum dynamic amplitude factors of longitudinal and transverse displacements as well as those of nonlocal axial force and bending moment of the SWCNT are then studied in some detail.  相似文献

In this paper a model for the vibrations of a one‐dimensional hybrid thermo‐elastic structure consisting of an extensible thermo‐elastic beam which is hinged at one end, with a rigid body attached to its free end, is studied with a view to establishing the existence of a unique solution in a weak sense. The model takes account of the effect of stretching on bending and rotational inertia. By treating eigenvalue problems with the spectral parameter also in the boundary conditions, we are able to employ the method of Faedo–Galerkin approximations. We present a mathematical model describing the motion of two elastic rods in contact. The model allows for large displacements and is essentially based on Cosserat's modelling of rods. Using a penalty technique, we prove existence of a static solution in the case of a unique rod. The contact modelling involves unilateral constraints on the central lines of the rods. Existence is also proved for this contact problem. 2003 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.  相似文献

The motion of a ball of constant spherical shape on a grassy lawn represented by a set of deformable rods with one end rigidly attached to a plane, while the other end is free and can contact the ball, is investigated. The contact area on the ball surface is represented by a spherical sector, whose dimensions and location on the ball surface depend on the position of the centre of the ball and its orientation. The projection of the contact area onto the plane is a circle, whose centre and radius vary as the centre of the ball moves. When the rods come into contact with the ball, they experience longitudinal and flexural strains, as well as impact actions on the boundary of the contact area. The translational–rotational motion of a ball on a lawn of rods without friction, as well as motion with viscous friction at the points of contact of the ends of the rods with the ball, is considered.  相似文献

A model of a railway track, in the form of an infinite Timoshenko beam resting on equally spaced massive visco-elastic supports, is considered. Steady vertical vibrations of the track due to a harmonic force moving along it at a constant velocity are investigated. The vertical displacement of the track is represented in a moving system of coordinates by a generalized Fourier series. The steady vertical vibrations of a massive rigid wheel rolling along the track at a constant velocity and loaded by a vertical harmonic force are investigated. The track-wheel interaction force is expressed as a generalized Fourier series whose coefficients are determined using an equality relating the vertical displacements of the wheel and the track. Vibrations of the wheel due to centrifugal force and periodic changes in the track parameters are considered. Parametric vibrations of a wheel moving at a constant velocity under a static load due to periodic variation in the stiffness of the track are investigated. The force with which the track resists the uniform motion of an unbalanced wheel is computed.  相似文献

We consider longitudinal elastic vibrations of a composite rod and find closedform expressions that describe optimal boundary controls bringing the rod from the quiescent state into a state with given displacement function φ(t) and velocity function ψ(t) in time T. We assume that the wave propagation time through each part of the rod is the same and T is a multiple of that time.  相似文献

This paper addresses geometrically nonlinear flexural vibrations of open doubly curved shallow shells composed of three thick isotropic layers. The layers are perfectly bonded, and thickness and linear elastic properties of the outer layers are symmetrically arranged with respect to the middle surface. The outer layers and the central layer may exhibit extremely different elastic moduli with a common Poisson's ratio ν. The considered shell structures of polygonal planform are hard hinged supported with the edges fully restraint against displacements in any direction. The kinematic field equations are formulated by layerwise application of a first order shear deformation theory. A modification of Berger's theory is employed to model the nonlinear characteristics of the structural response. The continuity of the transverse shear stress across the interfaces is specified according to Hooke's law, and subsequently the equations of motion of this higher order problem can be derived in analogy to a homogeneous single-layer shear deformable shallow shell. The classical Kapitsa problem of the inverted flexible pendulum is generalized. We consider a thin homogeneous vertical rod with a free top end and pivoted or rigid attached lower end under the weight of the pendulum’s action and vertical harmonic vibrations of the support. In both cases of attachment, we have stability conditions for the vertical rod position. We take the influence of axial and bending rod vibrations and describe the bending vibrations using the Bernoulli–Euler beam model. The solution is built as a Fourier expansion by eigenfunctions of auxiliary boundary-value problems. As a result, the problem is reduced to the set of ordinary differential equations with periodic coefficients and a small parameter. The asymptotic method of two-scale expansions is used for its solution and to determine the critical level of vibration. The influence of longitudinal waves in the rod essentially decreases the critical load. The single-mode approximation has an acceptable accuracy. With pivoting support at the lower end of the rod, we find the explicit approximate solution. For the rigid attachment, we conduct numerical analysis of the critical level of vibrations depending on the problem parameters.  相似文献

An analytical solution of the problem of the forced flexural oscillations of a rod with fixed hinged supports is presented. The rod has close natural frequencies of flexural oscillations in two mutually perpendicular planes due to the close values of the principal axial moments of inertia of the cross-section. The geometrical non-linearity, due to the change in the length of the middle line of the rod when it undergoes three-dimensional motion, is taken into account. The oscillations of the rod in the neighbourhood of the principal and first superharmonic resonances are investigated.  相似文献

The free and forced flexural oscillations of a rod with hinged supports are investigated analytically and numerically. The geometrical non-linearity due to the change in the length of the central line of the rod accompanying its three-dimensional motion is taken into account. The oscillations of a rod with different natural frequencies in two mutually perpendicular directions as a consequence of the variance in the flexural stiffnesses of the rod or the stiffnesses of the supports in the different directions, are considered. It is shown in the case of natural oscillations that, together with two planar forms of motion, a form exists when a certain threshold value is exceeded, which corresponds to the motion of the cross-sections of the rod in a circle. The amplitude-frequency and phase-frequency characteristics of the system are constructed and qualitatively investigated in the neighbourhood of the principal resonance.  相似文献

We consider in this work general curved rods with a circular cross‐section of radius δ. Our aim is to study the asymptotic behaviour of such rods as δ→0, in the framework of the linear elasticity according to the unfolding method. It consists in giving some decompositions of the displacements of such rods, and then in passing to the limit in a fixed domain. A first decomposition concerns the elementary displacements of a curved rod which characterize its translations and rotations, and the residual displacements related to the deformation of the cross‐section. The second decomposition concerns the displacements of the middle‐line of the rod. We prove that such a displacement can be written as the sum of an inextensional displacement and of an extensional one. An extensional displacement will modify the length of the middle‐line, while an inextensional displacement will not change this length in a first approximation. We show that the H1‐norm of an inextensional displacement is of order 1, while that of an extensional displacement is in general, of order δ. A priori estimates are established and convergence results as δ→0, are given for the displacements. We give their unfolded limits, as well as the unfolded limits of the strain and stress tensors. To prove the convergence of the strain tensor, the introduction of elementary and residual displacements appears as essential. By passing to the limit as δ→0 in the linearized system of the elasticity, we obtain on the one hand, a variational problem that is satisfied by the limit extensional displacement, and on the other hand, a variational problem coupling the limit of inextensional displacements and the limit of the angle of torsion.
