The effects of ethanolic extracts of Mulberry Leaves (Morus alba L.) on nitric oxide (NO) serum level in rat and diameter of blood vessels in rabbit ear were investigated. NO level of ethanolic extract of mulberry leaves at dose of 100 mg/kg bw rats gave significant difference compared to negative control (P<0,05) at minute 30 after extract administration (4,51 ± 4,31 μM). Ethanolic extract of mulberry leaves at dose of 200 mg/kg bw had no significant difference in NO serum level. However, ethanolic extract of mulberry leaves at dose of 400 mg/kg bw rats increased NO serum level significantly compared to negative control (P<0,05) at minute 0, 10, 30, 60, and 90 after extract administration. The maximum serum level of NO of 400 mg/kg bw mulberry extract was 4,62 ± 3,05 μM, and it is the highest among other groups. Therefore this dose was choosen for vasodilatation assay in rabbit. Observation on blood vessels diameter in rabbit ears showed that ethanolic extract of mulberry leaves were able to dilatate the big vessels and small vessels of rabbit ears significantly compared to negative control (P<0,05) at minute 60 after extract administration. In conclusion, ethanolic extract of mulberry leaves at dose of 400 mg/kg bw rats or 202.67 mg/kg bw rabbits has a vasodilator effect, probably due to an increase of NO serum level.  相似文献

Aminoacetylenic isoindoline-1,3-dione derivatives were synthesized from the reaction of potassium phthalimide with propargyl bromide to generate 2-(prop-2-yn-1-yl)isoindoline-1,3-dione (ZM1). Treatment of 2-(prop-2-yn-1-yl)isoindoline-1,3-dione with appropriate cyclic amines through Mannich reaction yielded five desired aminoacetylenic isoindoline-1,3-diones called, ZM2–ZM6. The IR, NMR and elemental analysis were consistent with the assigned structures. These synthetic compounds, except ZM6, produced significant (p < 0.05–0.01) dose-related inhibition of carrageenan-induced edema in rats following 3 and 5 h post-oral administration of 5, 10, and 20 mg/kg doses. The percent inhibition of edema varied between the compounds at 10 mg/kg dose being ZM3 > ZM5 > ZM4 > ZM2. These percent inhibitions for ZM3 and ZM5 were not significantly different than those of induced by Ibuprofen, Diclofenac and Celecoxib. At 20 mg/kg dose, ZM4 produced a statistically significant reduction of inflammation (p < 0.01) 1 h following administration and persisted for 5 h. Furthermore, all the compounds showed inhibition of COX-1 and COX-2 with maximum inhibition at 5 μM. However, the inhibition values were less than Diclofenac and Celecoxib. The best response was by ZM4 for COX-2 inhibition ranging from 28%, 91%, and 44%, for 2, 5, and 10 μM, respectively. Other ZM compounds such as ZM2, ZM3, and ZM5 exhibited inhibitory responses for COX-2 more than COX-1 at 5 μM. These results indicate that these ZM compounds have the potential to become anti-inflammatory drugs following further pharmacological and toxicological evaluations.  相似文献

The possible toxicological effects and in vitro antioxidant activity of the ethanolic extracts of Crocus sativus and Propolis were investigated. Both extracts did not cause any mortalities or signs of toxicity in mice when administered orally at doses up to 5 g/kg b.wt. In the sub-chronic study; the tested extracts did not produce any significant change in liver and kidney functions of rats, following oral administration for 8 successive weeks at doses of 500 mg/kg b.wt. of each. Propolis showed remarkable in vitro antioxidant activity at concentrations of (40–100 mg/ml). In contrast, the ethanolic extract of C. sativus ethanolic extract showed weak antioxidant activity in concentrations of (1–10 mg/ml) while at concentrations of (20–100 mg/ml) failed to exhibit any antioxidant activity. It was concluded that: both extracts were non-toxic, as they did not cause any mortalities or signs of toxicity in mice when administered orally at doses up to 5 g/kg b.wt. Daily oral administration of C. sativus, Propolis ethanolic extracts alone or in combination for 8 successive weeks to rats was quiet safe and didn't cause any toxic changes in liver and kidney. Antioxidant study showed that Propolis ethanolic extract was a more potent antioxidant than C. sativus extract.  相似文献

The analgetic activity of Carica papaya leaves (CPL) extracts (n-hexane, ethyl acetate, ethanol) was investigated in mice model using acetic acid induced pain (Siegmund method). Experimental animals were divided into 11 groups and received n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and ethanol extracts at doses of 0.175, 0.35, 0.70 mg/kg bw orally; CMC-Na 0.5% (control group); 50 mg/ kg bw of aspirin. The results showed that all extracts at the doses of 0.175, 0.35 and 0.70 mg/kg bw gave significant analgetic activity (p<0.05) compared to control group. Ethanol extract of CPL dose of 0.70 mg/kg bw showed the best analgetic activity that was comparable to aspirin.  相似文献

In this study, trimetal Mg/Ce/Mn oxide-modified diatomaceous earth (DE) was synthesized at optimal conditions. Comparison of the SEM images and the results of EDX analyses of the raw and the modified DE confirmed the surface modification of the raw DE with the trimetal oxide. Groundwater fluoride removal capacity of the sorbent was evaluated by batch method at various defluoridation conditions. At a sorbent dosage of 0.6 g/100 mL (contact time: 60 min, mixing speed of 200 rpm and temperature: 297 K), the fluoride removal was >93% for solutions containing initial fluoride concentration of 10–60 mg/L. Sorbent’s optimum fluoride uptake capacity was 12.63 mg/g at the initial fluoride concentration of 100 mg/L. Fluoride removal was >91% for solutions with initial pH range of ∼4–11 (initial fluoride concentration: 9 mg/L, sorbent dosage: 0.6 g/100 mL). Appraisal of the effect of co-existing anions on fluoride removal showed that CO32− would reduce the amount of fluoride removed from solution, while other anions such as PO43−, NO3 and SO42− had no observable effect. K2SO4 solution was found to be most suitable for regeneration of spent Mg/Ce/Mn oxide-modified DE compared to Na2CO3 and NaOH. The mechanism of fluoride removal at pH > 5.45 (pHpzc = 5.45) occurred by exchange of hydroxyl groups on surface of sorbent with fluoride ions from solution. Sorption data fitted better to Langmuir isotherm and pseudo-second-order model. External diffusion was observed to be the sorption rate limiting factor.  相似文献

Cymbopogon winterianus Jowitt or citronella is said to be an insect repellant and usually planted in the yard in the Philippines. In this study enzymatic extracts of citronella were fractionated using supercritical carbon dioxide extraction to have different oil extracts in three different parameters, 10 megapascal (10 MPa), 20 megapascal (20 MPa) and 30 megapascal (30 MPa) at constant temperature at 40° Celsius. The highest oil yield is at 20 MPa with an average of 10.21 for three trials of extraction, followed by 10 MPa and 30 MPa with 4.89 and 2.15. Oil extract at 10 MPa was subjected to gas chromatography- mass spectrometry (GC-MS) and found four components in which 2-methyl-5-(1-methylethyl)bicycle hexan 2-ol or trans sabinene hydrate and 4-methanol-o-Menth-8-ene or elemol was the major compounds. The pure crude enzymatic extract, 20 MPa and 30 MPa supercritical carbon dioxide extracts were subjected to fatty acid profiling, twelve free fatty acid were found at pure crude enzymatic extract, while nine free fatty acid were found at 20 MPa and 30 MPa supercritical carbon dioxide extracts. Lauric (C12) is consistently highest in terms of weight by weight in three extracts that were subjected to free fatty acid profiling. This study can be used as basis for agricultural applications in food and pharmaceutical since there is no thorough study of the fractionation of enzymatic extract of citronella.  相似文献

The effect of gamma irradiation on the content of total phenolic compounds, especially quercetin (Q), in onion (Allium cepa L.) skin was investigated. Onion skin extracts contained two predominant flavonoid compounds, Q and quercetin-4′-glucoside (Q4′G). After 10 kGy gamma irradiation, the yield of Q in the extracts increased significantly from 36.8 to 153.9 μg/ml of the extract, and the Q4′G content decreased slightly from 165.0 to 134.1 μg/ml. In addition, the total phenolic compound content also increased after irradiation at 10 kGy, from 228.0 μg/g of fresh weight to 346.6 μg/g; negligible changes (237.1–256.7 μg/g) occurred at doses of up to 5 kGy. As we expected, radical-scavenging activity was enhanced remarkably (by 88.8%) in the 10 kGy irradiated sample. A dose-dependent increase in the peak intensity of the electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectra was observed in all irradiated samples, with a maximum increase at 10 kGy. The intensity relative to that of the control was 0.15, and it increased to 1.10 in 10 kGy irradiated samples. The optimum gamma irradiation dose, which is sufficient to break the chemical or physical bonds and release soluble phenols of low molecular weight in onion skin, is about 10 kGy.  相似文献

AimThe purpose of the study is to research the effect of quercetin, which has a good antioxidant characteristic in rats exposed to sodium fluoride (NaF) toxication, on oxidant and antioxidant activity in liver tissue and erythrocyte.Material and method40 Swiss albino male rats with a weight of approximately 20–25 gr were used in the study. The rats were separated into 4 equal groups (n = 10). The first group, the control group, was given normal drinking water; the second group was given 12 mg/kg/day NaF; the third group was given 40 mg/kg/day quercetin; the fourth group was given 12 mg/kg/day NaF+40 mg/kg/day quercetin orally for 30 days. As a result of the experiment, plasma AST and ALT activities were found. Total oxidant capacity (TOC) and total antioxidant capacity (TAC) analyses were made in liver tissue and erythrocyte hemogenisate. Histopathological analyses of the liver tissue were conducted.ResultsNo changes were found in plasma ALT activities between groups. Increases were found in AST activity of all groups. While erythrocyte TAC level was found to increase in fluorine and fluorine + quercetin group when compared with the control group, erythrocyte TOC level was found to increase in all groups when compared with the control group. No significant change was found in TOC and TAC levels in the liver tissue. In liver tissue histopathology, while hydropic degeneration and cellular necrosis were found in vena centralis area in fluorine group, hydropic degeneration was found in heptocytes in centrilobular area in the quercetin group. In the fourth group, hydropic degeneration and centrilobular necrosis were more severe. It was found that in rats which are given NaF experimentally, fluorine and quercetin caused histopathological degenerations in the liver tissue during this time.ConclusionWhile no changes were found in TOC and TAC levels of liver tissue, antioxidant capacity was found to be stimulated in fluorine groups in erythrocyte.  相似文献

Radiation polymerization of butyl acrylate was performed in a microemulsion stabilized with a mixture of sodium of 12-acryloxy-9-octadecenoic acid and sodium dodecyl sulfate in a weight ratio of 2 at room temperature. BA content in microemulsion can be successfully improved up to 40 wt% with low surfactant concentration (lower than 10 wt%). The resulted stable, translucent microlatex contain particles with average diameter from 28.1 to 38.1 nm with different monomer content. Particle size depends on the dose rate and surfactant concentration. Effects of monomer content and dose rate on the maximum polymerization rate are discussed.  相似文献

There are a lot of natural resources that potentially used as herbal medicines in Indonesia. Some of the herbs, like Dewa leaves (Gynura pseudochina (L) D.C) and temu ireng rhizome (Curcuma aeruginosa Roxb.), were ussually used to increase number of thrombocytes in dengue patient. This current study was to determine the potential of dewa leaves (Gynura pseudochina (L) D.C) and temu ireng rhizome (Curcuma aeruginosa Roxb.) against the number of trombocytes, erythrocytes, and hematocrits level on male white rats (Rattus novergicus) by using Heparin Induction. Dosages of the extracts were 250 mg/kg BW and 500 mg/kg BW used for both dewa leaves and temu ireng rhizome. Extracts were given orally to the tested animals for seven continuous days. The number of trombocytes, erythrocytes, and hematocrites level were examine at day 7 using sysmex XE-5000 hematology analyzer. The result showed that the rat groups which were treated with dewa leaves extract at 500 mg/kgBW; temu ireng Rhizomes extract at 250 mg/kgBW and 500 mg/kgBW dosages had significant differences (α = 0.05) on number of thrombocytes. The percentages of thrombocytes number enhancement for temu ireng rhizomes extract 500 mg/kgBW, temu ireng rhizomes extract 250 mg/kgBW, dewa leaves extract 500 mg/kgBW were 26.98%, 24.48%, 19.44% respectively. The rats group which were treated with temu ireng Rhizomes extract at 500 mg/kgBW, dewa leaves extract at 250 mg/kgBW and 500 mg/kgBW had significant differences (α = 0.05) on erythrocytes number and hematocrits level enhancement. The percentages of erythrocytes number enhancement for dewa leaves extract at dose of 500 mg/kgBW and 250 mg/kgBW, temu ireng rhizomes extract 500 mg/kgBW were 9.59%, 9.11%, 9.02% respectively. The highest percentages of hematocrits level enhancement was given by dewa leaves extract at dose of 500 mg/kgBW (10,97%), suggesting that the extracts treatment would not trigger plasma leakage. Thus, dewa leaves extract at 500 mg/kgBW; temu ireng rhizomes extract at 250 mg/kgBW and 500 mg/kgBW dosages are potential as candidates to be medicinal herbs to increase numbers of thrombocytes on dengue fever treatment  相似文献

The solubility of anthracene was measured in pure water and in sodium chloride aqueous solution (salt concentration, m/mol · kg?1 = 0.1006, 0.5056, and 0.6082) at temperatures between (278 and 333) K. Solubility of anthracene in pure water agrees fairly well with values reported in earlier similar studies. Solubility of anthracene in sodium chloride aqueous solutions ranged from (6 · 10?8 to 143 · 10?8) mol · kg?1. Sodium chloride had a salting-out effect on the solubility of anthracene. The salting-out coefficients did not vary significantly with temperature over the range studied. The average salting-out coefficient for anthracene was 0.256 kg · mol?1.The standard molar Gibbs free energies, ΔtrG°, enthalpies, ΔtrH°, and entropies, ΔtrS°, for the transfer of anthracene from pure water to sodium chloride aqueous solutions were also estimated. Most of the estimated ΔtrG° values were positive [(20 to 1230) J · mol?1]. The analysis of the thermodynamic parameters shows that the transfer of anthracene from pure water to sodium chloride aqueous solution is thermodynamically unfavorable, and that this unfavorable condition is caused by a decrease in entropy.  相似文献

Anti-inflammatory and antibacterial activities of some novel quinazolinones were determined. Evaluation of anti-inflammatory activity of test compounds was performed using carrageenan induced paw edema in rats. Oral administration of test compounds 25 mg/kg and 50 mg/kg reduced the paw edema significantly (P < 0.05) in a dose dependent manner compared to carrageenan induced rats. The test compounds were also screened for their antibacterial activity against the strains of Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli at the concentrations of 200 μg/ml and 1 mg/ml. The test compounds showed better activity as that of the standard lincomycin at the tested higher concentration against S. aureus. None of the compounds exhibit comparable activity to that of the standard ceftazidime against E. coli.  相似文献

The efficacy of gamma irradiation as a method of decontamination for food and herbal materials is well established. In the present study, Glycyrrhiza glabra roots were irradiated at doses 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25 kGy in a cobalt-60 irradiator. The irradiated and un-irradiated control samples were evaluated for phenolic contents, antimicrobial activities and DPPH scavenging properties. The result of the present study showed that radiation treatment up to 20 kGy does not affect the antifungal and antibacterial activity of the plant. While sample irradiated at 25 kGy does showed changes in the antibacterial activity against some selected pathogens. No significant differences in the phenolic contents were observed for control and samples irradiated at 5, 10 and 15 kGy radiation doses. However, phenolic contents increased in samples treated with 20 and 25 kGy doses. The DPPH scavenging activity significantly (p<0.05) increased in all irradiated samples of the plant.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to evaluate the gamma radiation effects on odor volatiles in oolong tea at doses of 0, 5, 10, 15 and 20 kGy. The volatile organic compounds were extracted by hydrodistillation and analyzed by GC/MS. The irradiation has a large influence on oolong tea odor profile, once it was identified 40% of new compounds after this process, the 5 kGy and 20 kGy were the doses that degraded more volatiles found naturally in this kind of tea and the dose of 10 kGy was the dose that formed more new compounds. Statistical difference was found between the 5 kGy and 15 kGy volatile profiles, however the sensorial analysis showed that the irradiation at dose up 20 kGy did not interfere on consumer perception.  相似文献

Cellulose was extracted from sugarcane bagasse by alkaline extraction with sodium hydroxide followed by delignification/bleaching using sodium chlorite/hexamethylenetetramine system. Factors affecting extraction process, including sodium hydroxide concentration, hexamethylenetetramine concentration and temperature were studied and optimum conditions for alkaline extraction were found to be boiling finely ground bagasse under reflux in 1 N sodium hydroxide solution and then carrying out the delignification/bleaching treatment at 95 °C using 5 g/l sodium chlorite together with 0.02 g/l hexamethylenetetramine. The extracted cellulose was used in the preparation of hydroxyethyl cellulose through reaction with ethylene oxide in alkaline medium. Factors affecting the hydroxyethylation reaction, like sodium hydroxide concentration during the alkali formation step, ethylene oxide concentration, reaction temperature and reaction duration were studied. Optimum conditions for hydroxyethylation reaction were using 20% NaOH solution and 200% ethylene oxide (based on weight of cellulose), carrying out the reaction at 100 °C for 60 min.  相似文献

In the present work, experimental data on the equilibrium conditions of mixed CO2 and THF hydrates in aqueous electrolyte solutions are reported. Seven different electrolytes (metal halides) were used in this work namely sodium chloride (NaCl), calcium chloride (CaCl2), magnesium chloride (MgCl2), potassium bromide (KBr), sodium fluoride (NaF), potassium chloride (KCl), and sodium bromide (NaBr). All equilibrium data were measured by using Cailletet apparatus. Throughout this work, the overall concentration of CO2 and THF were kept constant at (0.04 and 0.05) mol fraction, respectively, while the concentration of electrolytes were varied. The experimental temperature ranged from (275 to 305) K and pressure up 7.10 MPa had been applied. From the experimental results, it is concluded that THF, which is soluble in water is able to suppress the salt inhibiting effect in the range studied. In all quaternary systems studied, a four-phase hydrate equilibrium line was observed where hydrate (H), liquid water (LW), liquid organic (LV), and vapour (V) exist simultaneously at specific pressure and temperature. The formation of this four-phase equilibrium line is mainly due to a liquid–liquid phase split of (water + THF) mixture when pressurized with CO2 and the split is enhanced by the salting-out effect of the electrolytes in the quaternary system. The strength of hydrate inhibition effect among the electrolytes was compared. The results shows the hydrate inhibiting effect of the metal halides is increasing in the order NaF < KBr < NaCl < NaBr < CaCl2 < MgCl2. Among the cations studied, the strength of hydrate inhibition increases in the following order: K+ < Na+ < Ca2+ < Mg2+. Meanwhile, the strength of hydrate inhibition among the halogen anion studied decreases in the following order: Br? > Cl? > F?. Based on the results, it is suggested that the probability of formation and the strength of ionic–hydrogen bond between an ion and water molecule and the effects of this bond on the ambient water network are the major factors that contribute to hydrate inhibition by electrolytes.  相似文献

In order to study the growth promotion behavior of sodium alginate (SA) on vegetable (red amaranth, Amaranthus cruentus L.), 3% aqueous solution of SA was irradiated by γ-radiation (Co-60) of various total doses (12.5–50.0 kGy) at a dose rate of 3.5 kGy/h. Viscosity of the irradiated SA was found to decrease with increase in the radiation dose. The average molecular weight was also decreased from 104 to 103 orders. Red amaranth was cultivated in 18 different individual plots and SA solution (150 ppm) was applied on red amaranth after 10 days of seedlings at every 6 days interval. The morphological characters of vegetables were studied randomly in different unit plots. The irradiated SA of 37.5 kGy at 150 ppm solution showed the best performance. Dry matter of red amaranth significantly increased at 37.5 kGy of irradiated alginate treatment which was about 50% higher than that of the untreated samples. The effect of SA on red amaranth was found significant increase; i.e. plant height (17.8%), root length (12.7%), number of leaf (5.4%) and maximum leaf area (2%) compared to that of the control vegetative plant production.  相似文献

A study of the polyphenols content and antioxidant capacity of grapevine waste and hazelnut skins (roasted material) from post-harvest products that originate from Piedmont (Italy) has been carried out and the results herein presented. Ultrasound-assisted extraction (UAE) and microwave-assisted extraction (MAE) were used to achieve process intensification in shorter extraction times, with lower environmental impact and higher selectivity compared to classic maceration. Besides classic solvents, the aqueous β-cyclodextrin solution (1.5%) showed to be an excellent extraction medium for grapevine waste. Total phenolic content (TP) from grapevine waste ranged from 18.23 ± 2.4 to 198 ± 3 mg gallic acid equivalents (GAE)/g dry weight, while total antioxidant capacity (TAC) expressed as EC50 ranged from 0.0902 ± 0.08 mg/mL to 0.0041 ± 0.02 mg/mL. For hazelnut skins, TP ranged from 61.68 ± 0.8 to 200.79 ± 3.0 mg GAE/g dry weight, while TAC ranged from 0.0021 ± 0.0004 to 0.0002 ± 0.0001 mg/mL extract. We have shown that, compared to maceration, the use of UAE and MAE methods can enhance polyphenols recovery and antioxidant capacity.  相似文献

Although considered the most complete food and nutritionally shown to be part of a healthy diet, the egg is the source of many eating disorders, especially for infants. Irradiation has been used in studies not only as a means of microbiological control, but also on its structural action in the substances molecules and has been used to reduce the allergenic effects. The aim of this study was to evaluate the sensory effects of Co60 gamma radiation on proteins, enabling the acceptability of allergy food for genetically intolerant people. Eggs commercial fresh and freeze-dried and subjected to gamma irradiation by Co60 source at doses 0 (control), 10 kGy; 20 kGy and 30 kGy and rates of doses of 19.4 kGy/h and 31.8 kGy/h. Acceptability test was used by the hedonic scale, since it is necessary to know the “affective status” of consumers for the product, implying a preference, i.e. the most preferred samples are the most accepted and vice versa. The samples were presented as the habit of consumption (cooked) to a group of 41 adults panelists of both gender, aged from 21 to 40 years, and served under complete block design balanced with respect to the order of presentation. The evaluated attributes was flavor, appearance and overall acceptability. In general, for boiled eggs and freeze-dried, it was observed that the control sample was the most acceptable, followed by the sample irradiated with 10 kGy in both dose rates. In addition, panelists presented in testimony that they found interesting changes due to irradiation; also said they would not buy the product because of the marked change in appearance and smell, which at one point he ended up in disgust and detract from sales of the product, but they would buy irradiated with 10 kGy in both dose rate and dose of 20 kGy at a dose rate of 19.4 kGy/h.  相似文献

Radiation-induced grafting of styrene into poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) films with 0.125 mm thickness at doses of 1 and 2.5 kGy in the presence of a styrene/N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF) solution (1:1, v/v) and at doses of 20, 40 and 80 kGy in presence of a styrene/toluene solution (1:1, v/v) at dose rate of 5 kGy h?1 was carried out by the simultaneous method under nitrogen atmosphere and room temperature, using gamma rays from a Co-60. The films were characterized before and after modification by calculated grafting yield (GY %), infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermogravimetry (TG/DTG). GY results shows that grafting increases with dose, and the grafting of styrene was confirm by FT-IR due to the new characteristic peaks and by the TG and DSC attributed to changes in thermal behavior of the grafted material. Results showed that the system allows the controlled grafting of styrene into PVDF using gamma rays at doses as low as 1 kGy in DMF.  相似文献
