It is shown that the softening of the acoustic mode and the ensuing ferroelastic phase transition are due to the linear-quadratic interaction between the symmetric and antisymmetric deformations, which is presently neglected in the literature. An expression is obtained which can be used to predict the phase transition pressure if the initial elastic moduli are known.  相似文献

Left-right asymmetry of the angular distribution of prompt neutrons from 235U fission induced by polarized thermal neutrons was measured. This asymmetry is caused by the interference of the s and p waves in the input reaction channel and was found to be equal to b=(?5.8±1.4)×10?5.  相似文献

The experimental data concerning scission (or prescission) neutrons are very contradictory—the relative part of these neutrons in the prompt fission neutrons varies from 1 to 35% owing to arbitrary assumptions made in different analyses. To solve this problem, we have used a new alternative method to search for the scission neutrons. We have found the left-right asymmetry of prompt-fission-neutron (PFN) emission caused by sp-wave interference in the entrance channel of the reaction and the P-odd asymmetry of the PFN emission caused by parity nonconservation at the exit channel of the fission process. Both effects cannot reside in PFN evaporated by excited fission fragments. The scission (or prescission) neutrons are responsible for these effects. The time-of-flight technique was used to measure the mass and kinetic energy distribution of fragments from fission of233U,235U and239Pu, induced by thermal neutrons at the Grenoble High Flux Reactor. The data array is presented as equal probability lines in the high kinetic energy regions. The fluctuations observed in those experimental lines are explained by a static scission configuration model, in which the most important influence comes from the Coulomb interaction energy between the two fragments. The highest values of total kinetic energy are obtained for fragmentations with heavy fragmentsZ=50–52,N=80–82 and light fragmentsZ=40–42,N=60–64.  相似文献

Gamma-ray spectra from239Pu(n,f) reaction were measured with the gamma spectrometer on the pulsed reactor IBR-30. The fast 19-section ionization chamber with 1.6 g of239Pu targets was used. The fission gamma-rays within the 32 ns time window were measured using a Ge(Li) detector. Based on the measured gamma-ray spectrum in the (0.1–1.8) MeV interval, the total number of emitted-quanta-multiplicity N tot and total energy of -quanta per fission event, E tot , were calculated. The results were 7.0±0.6/fission and 6.8±0.5 MeV/fission respectively. This work is supported in part by the Grant Agency of the Slovak Academy of Science under grant GA-SAV 517/1992.  相似文献

Since P-odd and T-odd asymmetries are generally not observed during the fissioning of unoriented target nuclei by polarized neutrons and oriented target nuclei by unpolarized neutrons, analogous asymmetries in angular distributions of products from binary and ternary fissioning of oriented target nuclei by cold polarized neutrons are thoroughly analyzed within the quantum theory of fission for finding these correlations. It is demonstrated that these correlations occur only when interference of the compound fissioning nucleus states with different spins is considered. Contributions from target nucleus orientations of different orders to coefficients of the asymmetries in question for fission fragments are estimated. Characteristics of analogous asymmetries for prescission and evaporation third particles are analyzed.  相似文献

The yields of the long-range α-particles (LRA) in the thermal neutron induced fission 0f233U,235U, and239Pu have been determined relative to the corresponding binary fiassion yield. The measurements were performed with surface harrier detectors on a thermalized reactor beam. We obtained for233U,235U and239Pu binary-to-LRA ratios the values 485±20 respectively 615±20, 475±20. Some of the discrepancies between the published data were explained and experimental indications for235U(n, α)- and239Pu(n, α)-reactions are present. Finally the LRA-yield was correlated with some other fission characteristics.  相似文献

Some experimental possibilities of establishing the nature of the recently observed T-odd angular correlation in ternary fission of 233U by polarized neutrons are discussed. Specifically, investigation of the neutron energy dependence of the correlation coefficient in the ternary fission of 239Pu and 235U could shed light on the problem under discussion. Pis’ma Zh. éksp. The preliminary result of the P-odd asymmetry of prompt neutron emission in 235U fission induced by polarized cold neutrons is a=(2.7±0.8)×10?5. Only scission neutrons can show such asymmetry, whereas neutrons emitted by excited fragments are the unavoidable background, which suppress the sought asymmetry. The P-odd asymmetry of light fragment emission for 235U is equal to (8.4±0.6)×10?5. Assuming that the last figure defines the parity mixture of the fissile nucleus, then the suppression factor is equal approximately to 3.  相似文献

The results of an experiment devoted to searches for effects of rotation of fissioning nuclei in the angular distributions of prompt neutrons and gamma rays originating from the polarized-neutron-induced fission of 233U nuclei are presented. The effects discovered in these angular distributions are opposite in sign to their counterparts in the polarized-neutron-induced fission of 235U nuclei. This is at odds with data on the relative signs of respective effects in the angular distribution of alpha particles from the ternary fission of the same nuclei and may be indicative of problems in the model currently used to describe the effect in question. The report on which this article is based was presented at the seminar held at the Institute of Theoretical and Experimental Physics and dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the birth of Yu.G. Abov, corresponding member of Russian Academy of Sciences, Editor in Chief of the journal Physics of Atomic Nuclei.  相似文献

P-odd asymmetries in binary fission of oriented target nuclei induced by cold polarized neutrons are described for the first time using methods of the quantum theory of fission. A spin matrix of the compound nucleus density is constructed with allowance for the interference of the fission amplitudes of various pairs of neutron resonances excited in the given nucleus during the capture of a cold polarized neutron by the oriented target nucleus. In the differential cross sections for this reaction we obtain not only P-odd T-even correlations with the angular dependence different from that of the earlier investigated correlations in the fission of unoriented target nuclei by polarized neutrons but also P-odd T-odd correlations that do not occur in the fission of unoriented target nuclei by polarized neutrons and oriented target nuclei by unpolarized neutrons.  相似文献

T-odd asymmetries in the ternary fission of oriented target nuclei, induced by cold unpolarized neutrons and accompanied by emission of ?? particles, are described using quantum fission theory. The differential cross section for the reaction in question is obtained using the spin density matrix of the target nucleus by considering the Coriolis interaction of the spin of a fissioning compound nucleus with the orbital momentum of an ?? particle and interference from the fission amplitudes of various pairs of neutron resonances excited in the compound nucleus as the target nucleus captures a cold neutron. It is shown that in the case under consideration, T-odd asymmetries occur only at odd values of the target nucleus??s order of orientation. It is demonstrated that the concepts of TRI and ROT asymmetries are preserved while the absolute values of the coefficients for these asymmetries can change noticeably in comparison to the similar coefficients for the fission of unoriented target nuclei induced by cold polarized neutrons.  相似文献

We have found a small inclination of the symmetry axis of the prompt fission gamma-quanta angular distribution relative to the “fission axis” in binary fission of 235U induced by cold polarized neutrons using the neutron beam line V13 at Berlin Neutron Scattering Center (BENSC). The sign of the shift depends on the direction of the cold neutron beam polarization and it can only be explained by the quasi-classical rotation of the fissile nucleus at the scission point.  相似文献

A new approach to searching for and studying scission neutrons, which is based on the analysis of specific angular correlations in nuclear fission induced by polarized neutrons, is described and used to evaluate the fraction of scission neutrons in the total number of prompt neutrons of 235U fission emitted perpendicularly to the fission axis.  相似文献

Within the quantum-mechanical theory of the nuclear-fission process, the conditions of the emergence of coherent effects in the angular distributions of fragments originating from the binary and ternary fission of polarized nuclei are analyzed with allowance for the properties of transition fission states. In the case of ternary fission, the coefficients of P-odd asymmetry in the angular distributions of a light particle and a third particle, which is taken here to be an alpha particle, are calculated under the assumption that the third particle and two fragments are produced through a one-step mechanism. In order to confirm the ideas developed here, it is proposed to repeat, at a higher level of statistical accuracy, experiments devoted to seeking P-odd asymmetries for alpha particles in the ternary fission of nuclei.  相似文献

The experimental results on delayed-neutron yields from thermal-neutron-induced fission of some actinides in the IBR-2 pulsed reactor are presented. A method of periodic irradiation without displacement of the sample was used. The measurements of delayed-neutron total yields in thermal-neutron-induced fission of 239Pu, 233U, and 237Np and in cold-neutron-induced fission of 235U, 233U, and 239Pu were carried out. All values were obtained with the use of the value of β0 for (n th+235U) as a reference. Precise measurements of decay curves in the time interval 5–350 ms for 235U and 239Pu were performed.  相似文献

The possibility of semiclassically describing T-even TRI-type asymmetry in ternary fission induced by polarized neutrons is considered on the basis of employing Coriolis interaction that takes into account the coupling of a light charged particle to the collective rotation of a polarized fissile nucleus. It is shown that allowance for this interaction makes it possible to explain qualitatively the magnitudes of two asymmetry effects observed in light-charge-particle emission both within the semiclassical and within the quantum-mechanical approach. The difference in the relative magnitudes and signs of the effects between different target nuclei is associated with the interference contributions to the cross section from neighboring neutron resonances and therefore cannot be explained within the semiclassical approach.  相似文献

The half-lives of very neutron rich isotopes of Ni and Cu have been measured. The isotopes are produced in very asymmetric thermal fission of235U and239Pu at the I.L.L. high flux reactor. They are separated by means of the Lohengrin spectrometer. They are identified with aΔE-E ionization chamber and implanted in one of the 8 Si planar detectors where theβ-particles are also detected. The time correlations between the implantation and the detection ofβ-particles provide the half-life. The values obtained are compared to current theoretical predictions.  相似文献
