We show a simple way how asymptotic convergence results can be conveyed from a simple Jacobi method to a block Jacobi method. Our pilot methods are the well known symmetric Jacobi method and the Paardekooper method for reducing a skew-symmetric matrix to the real Schur form. We show resemblance in the quadratic and cubic convergence estimates, but also discrepances in the asymptotic assumptions. By numerical tests we confirm that our asymptotic assumptions for the Paardekooper method are most general.  相似文献

本文用比较直接的方法研究Painleve方程的渐近解和连同公式:(1)先求出数值解,然后用最小二乘法拟合出最佳渐近解;(2)根据最佳渐近解的表达形式,用谐波平衡法得到振荡渐近解与参数之间的依赖关系,即连同公式.当参数α,β,γ和δ满足一些条件时,对一般实的第五类Painleve方程,我们找出了振荡渐近解和连同公式.  相似文献

We present a method for the efficient approximation of integrals with highly oscillatory vector-valued kernels, such as integrals involving Airy functions or Bessel functions. We construct a vector-valued version of the asymptotic expansion, which allows us to determine the asymptotic order of a Levin-type method. Levin-type methods are constructed using collocation, and choosing a basis based on the asymptotic expansion results in an approximation with significantly higher asymptotic order. We consider the method of normal forms, the Bogolyubov averaging method, and the method of asymptotic decomposition proposed by Yu. A. Mitropol’skii and the author of this paper. Under certain assumptions about group-theoretic properties of a system of zero approximation, the results obtained by the method of asymptotic decomposition coincide with the results obtained by the method of normal forms or the Bogolyubov averaging method. We develop a new algorithm of asymptotic decomposition by a part of the variables and its partial case — the algorithm of averaging on a compact Lie group. For the first time, it became possible to consider asymptotic expansions of solutions of differential equations on noncommutative compact groups.  相似文献

This paper considers a homotopy perturbation method for approximating multivariate vector-value highly oscillatory integrals. 本文指出传统的边界层方法(包括匹配法和Vi?ik—Lyusternik方法)的不足:不能作出边界层项的渐近展开式.提出多重尺度构造边界层项的方法,得到符合实情的结果.又与Levinson所用的方法比较,本方法能更简单地导出后一方法给出的边界层项的渐近展开式.又应用此方法研究现有的关于奇异摄动的某些成果,指出这些成果的局限性,并在一般情况下作出解的渐近展开式.  相似文献

Singular perturbation problems not amenable to solution by asymptotic methods require special treatment, such as the method of Carrier and Pearson. Rather than devising special methods for these problems, this paper suggests that there may be a uniform way to solve singular perturbation problems, which may or may not succumb to asymptotic methods. A potential mechanism for doing this is the author's boundary-value technique, a nonasymptotic method, which previously has only been applied to singular perturbation problems that lend themselves to asymptotic techniques. Two problems, claimed by Carrier and Pearson to be insoluble by asymptotic methods, are solved by the boundary-value method.  相似文献

For a singularly perturbed parabolic equation termed in applications as the reaction-diffusion-advection equation, stationary solutions with internal transition layers (contrast structures) are studied. An arbitrary-order asymptotic approximation of such solutions is constructed, and an existence theorem is proved. An efficient algorithm for constructing an asymptotic approximation of the transition point is proposed. The constructed asymptotic approximation is justified by applying the asymptotic method of differential inequalities, which is extended to the class of problems under study. This method is also used to establish the Lyapunov stability of such stationary solutions.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the existence, uniqueness and asymptotic behavior of traveling wave fronts for a vector disease model. We first establish the existence of traveling wave fronts by using geometric singular perturbation theory. Then the asymptotic behavior and uniqueness of traveling wave fronts are obtained by using the standard asymptotic theory and sliding method. In addition, our method is also suitable to establish the uniqueness and asymptotic behavior of traveling wave fronts for a cooperative system.  相似文献

A method for deriving transitional asymptotic expansions from integral representations is described and applied to Anger function and modified Hankel function. The method consists in deriving asymptotic expansions of the function considered as well as its first derivativeat the transition point using conventional methods such as Laplace’s method or the method of steepest descents. Since both the functions considered satisfy a second order linear differential equation, it is possible to obtain asymptotic expansions of higher order derivatives of the functions from the first two expansions. Thus asymptotic expressions for all the derivatives at the transition point are known and a Taylor expansion of the function in the neighbourhood of the transition point can be written. The method is also applicable to the generalized exponential integral, Weber’s parabolic cylinder function and Poiseuille function.  相似文献

The subject of this paper is the diffraction of a plane harmonicwave when it falls upon a quarter-space with different transmissionproperties from the rest of unbounded space. A matching procedureallows asymptotic expressions for the field on the two planeinterfaces to be calculated in a fairly simple way. In orderto obtain these expressions, certain assumptions are made aboutthe asymptotic form of the field on the interface. These assumptionsare plausible and lead to consistent results. We begin with the problem of wave propagation in two weldedquarter-spaces due to excitation on the plane boundary. Thisproblem has an exact solution and provides an illustration ofthe method of matching asymptotic fields (not the method ofmatched asymptotic expansions). We then move on to the problemof a plane wave normally incident on our embedded quarter-spaceand derive exact expressions for the asymptotic field on theinterfaces. A one-step method is proposed to estimate the unknown functions in the varying coefficient models, in which the unknown functions admit different degrees of smoothness. In this method polynomials of different orders are used to approximate unknown functions with different degrees of smoothness. As only one minimization operation is employed, the required computation burden is much less than that required by the existing two-step estimation method. It is shown that the one-step estimators also achieve the optimal convergence rate. Moreover this property is obtained under conditions milder than that imposed in the two-step estimation method. More importantly, as only one minimization operation is employed, the full asymptotic properties, not only the asymptotic bias and variance, but also the asymptotic distributions of the estimators can be derived. The asymptotic distribution results will play a key role for making statistical inference.  相似文献

Airy-type asymptotic representations of a class of special functions are considered from a numerical point of view. It is well known that the evaluation of the coefficients of the asymptotic series near the transition point is a difficult problem. We discuss two methods for computing the asymptotic series. One method is based on expanding the coefficients of the asymptotic series in Maclaurin series. In the second method we consider auxiliary functions that can be computed more efficiently than the coefficients in the first method, and we do not need the tabulation of many coefficients. The methods are quite general, but the paper concentrates on Bessel functions, in particular on the differential equation of the Bessel functions, which has a turning point character when order and argument of the Bessel functions are equal.  相似文献

A brief review of asymptotic methods to deal with frictionless unilateral contact problems for an elastic layer of finite thickness is presented. Under the assumption that the contact radius is small with respect to the layer thickness, an effective asymptotic method is suggested for solving the unilateral contact problem with a priori unknown contact radius. A specific feature of the method is that the construction of an asymptotic approximation is reduced to a linear algebraic system with respect to integral characteristics (polymoments) of the contact pressure. In this paper, the asymptotic expansions of stress tensor for linearly elastic shell have been proposed by new asymptotic analysis method, which is different from the classical asymptotic analysis. The new asymptotic analysis method has two distinguishing features: one is that the displacement is expanded with respect to the thickness variable of the middle surface not to the thickness; another is that the first order term and the second order term of the displacement variable can be algebraically expressed by the leading term. To decompose stress tensor totally into 2-D variable and thickness variable, we have three steps: operator splitting, variables separation and dimension splitting. In the end, a numerical experiment of special hemispherical shell by FEM (finite element method) is provided. We derive the distribution of displacements and stress fields in the middle surface.  相似文献

A singularly perturbed initial-boundary value problem is considered for a parabolic equation known in applications as the reaction-diffusion equation. An asymptotic expansion of solutions with a moving front is constructed, and an existence theorem for such solutions is proved. The asymptotic expansion is substantiated using the asymptotic method of differential inequalities, which is extended to the class of problems under study. The method is based on well-known comparison theorems and is a development of the idea of using formal asymptotics for the construction of upper and lower solutions in singularly perturbed problems with internal and boundary layers.  相似文献
