The relationship between a microscopic parameter p, that is related to the probability of choosing a mechanism of deposition, and the stochastic equation for the interface's evolution is studied for two different models. It is found that in one model, that is similar to ballistic deposition, the corresponding stochastic equation can be represented by a Kardar-Parisi-Zhang (KPZ) equation where both λ and ν depend on p in the following way: ν(p) = νp and λ(p) = λp 3/2. Furthermore, in the other studied model, which is similar to random deposition with relaxation, the stochastic equation can be represented by an Edwards-Wilkinson (EW) equation where ν depends on p according to ν(p) = νp 2. It is expected that these results will help to find a framework for the development of stochastic equations starting from microscopic details of growth models. Based on the well-known mapping between the Burgers equation with noise and the Kardar–Parisi–Zhang (KPZ) equation for fluctuating interfaces, we develop a fluctuating lattice Boltzmann (LB) scheme for growth phenomena, as described by the KPZ formalism. A very simple LB-KPZ scheme is demonstrated in 1+1 spacetime dimensions, and is shown to reproduce the scaling exponents characterizing the growth of one-dimensional fluctuating interfaces.

The long-wavelength properties of the (d + 1)-dimensional Kuramoto-Sivashinsky (KS) equation with both conservative and nonconservative noises are investigated by use of the dynamic renormalization-group (DRG) theory. The dynamic exponent z and roughness exponent α are calculated for substrate dimensions d = 1 and d = 2, respectively. In the case of d = 1, we arrive at the critical exponents z = 1.5 and α = 0.5 , which are consistent with the results obtained by Ueno et al. in the discussion of the same noisy KS equation in 1+1 dimensions [Phys. Rev. E 71, 046138 (2005)] and are believed to be identical with the dynamic scaling of the Kardar-Parisi-Zhang (KPZ) in 1+1 dimensions. In the case of d = 2, we find a fixed point with the dynamic exponents z = 2.866 and α = -0.866 , which show that, as in the 1 + 1 dimensions situation, the existence of the conservative noise in 2 + 1 or higher dimensional KS equation can also lead to new fixed points with different dynamic scaling exponents. In addition, since a higher order approximation is adopted, our calculations in this paper have improved the results obtained previously by Cuerno and Lauritsen [Phys. Rev. E 52, 4853 (1995)] in the DRG analysis of the noisy KS equation, where the conservative noise is not taken into account.  相似文献

A continuum medium approach is proposed to describe the finite size dependent effects for the 1D isotropic Heisenberg ferromagnet. The results are compared to the exact Bethe ansatz solution for the finite chain. The approach is shown to adequately account for the behaviour of the eigenfunctions and eigenenergies. The continuum is obtained by integration in Fourier space via introduction of cut-offs at the integration limits and analytical continuation from the discrete lattice to the continuous medium. It offers a new perspective on the instability of bound states, and reveals the linear behaviour of the amplitude in the critical region and other features of the model in an analytical way. We further apply this approach to investigate the long wavelength expansion of the master equation and to show the route of constructing reliable approximations valid for more complicated models. It is concluded that the approach can be useful to study mesoscopic spin systems. Received 28 May 2000 and Received in final form 6 April 2001  相似文献

This paper at first shows the details of finite volume-based lattice Boltzmann method (FV-LBM) for simulation of compressible flows with shock waves. In the FV-LBM, the normal convective flux at the interface of a cell is evaluated by using one-dimensional compressible lattice Boltzmann model, while the tangential flux is calculated using the same way as used in the conventional Euler solvers. The paper then presents a platform to construct one-dimensional compressible lattice Boltzmann model for its use in FV-LBM. The platform is formed from the conservation forms of moments. Under the platform, both the equilibrium distribution functions and lattice velocities can be determined, and therefore, non-free parameter model can be developed. The paper particularly presents three typical non-free parameter models, D1Q3, D1Q4 and D1Q5. The performances of these three models for simulation of compressible flows are investigated by a brief analysis and their application to solve some one-dimensional and two-dimensional test problems. Numerical results showed that D1Q3 model costs the least computation time and D1Q4 and D1Q5 models have the wider application range of Mach number. From the results, it seems that D1Q4 model could be the best choice for the FV-LBM simulation of hypersonic flows.  相似文献

We study height and roughness distributions of films grown with discrete Kardar-Parisi-Zhang (KPZ) models in a small time regime which is expected to parallel the typical experimental conditions. Those distributions are measured with square windows of sizes 8 ? r ? 128 gliding through a much larger surface. Results for models with weak finite-size corrections indicate that the absolute value of the skewness and the value of the kurtosis of height distributions converge to 0.2 ? ∣S∣ ? 0.3 and 0 ? Q ? 0.5, respectively. Despite the low accuracy of these results, they give additional support to a recent claim of KPZ scaling in oligomer films. However, there are significant finite-size effects in the scaled height distributions of models with large local slopes, such as ballistic deposition, which suggests that comparison of height distributions must not be used to rule out KPZ scaling. On the other hand, roughness distributions of the same models show good data collapse, with negligible dependence on time and window size. The estimates of skewness and kurtosis for roughness distributions are 1.7 ? S ? 2 and 3 ? Q ? 7. A stretched exponential tail was found, which seems to be a particular feature of KPZ systems in 2 + 1 dimensions. Moreover, the KPZ roughness distributions cannot be fitted by those of 1/fα noise. This study suggests that the roughness distribution is the best option to test KPZ scaling in the growth regime, and provides quantitative data for future comparison with other models or experiments.  相似文献

Over the past years our understanding of the scaling properties of the solutions to the one-dimensional KPZ equation has advanced considerably, both theoretically and experimentally. In our contribution we export these insights to the case of coupled KPZ equations in one dimension. We establish equivalence with nonlinear fluctuating hydrodynamics for multi-component driven stochastic lattice gases. To check the predictions of the theory, we perform Monte Carlo simulations of the two-component AHR model. Its steady state is computed using the matrix product ansatz. Thereby all coefficients appearing in the coupled KPZ equations are deduced from the microscopic model. Time correlations in the steady state are simulated and we confirm not only the scaling exponent, but also the scaling function and the non-universal coefficients.  相似文献

A functional integral technique is used to study the ultraviolet or short distance properties of the Kardar–Parisi–Zhang (KPZ) equation with white Gaussian noise. We apply this technique to calculate the one-loop effective potential for the KPZ equation. The effective potential is (at least) one-loop ultraviolet renormalizable in 1, 2, and 3 space dimensions, but non-renormalizable in 4 or higher space dimensions. This potential is intimately related to the probability distribution function (PDF) for the spacetime averaged field. For the restricted class of field configurations considered here, the KPZ equation exhibits dynamical symmetry breaking (DSB) via an analog of the Coleman–Weinberg mechanism in 1 and 2 space dimensions, but not in 3 space dimensions.  相似文献

Volume conserving surface (VCS) models without deposition and evaporation, as well as ideal molecular-beam epitaxy models, are prototypes to study the symmetries of conserved dynamics. In this work we study two similar VCS models with conserved noise, which differ from each other by the axial symmetry of their dynamic hopping rules. We use a coarse-grained approach to analyze the models and show how to determine the coefficients of their corresponding continuous stochastic differential equation (SDE) within the same universality class. The employed method makes use of small translations in a test space which contains the stationary probability density function (SPDF). In case of the symmetric model we calculate all the coarse-grained coefficients of the related conserved Kardar–Parisi–Zhang (KPZ) equation. With respect to the symmetric model, the asymmetric model adds new terms which have to be analyzed, first of all the diffusion term, whose coarse-grained coefficient can be determined by the same method. In contrast to other methods, the used formalism allows to calculate all coefficients of the SDE theoretically and within limits numerically. Above all, the used approach connects the coefficients of the SDE with the SPDF and hence gives them a precise physical meaning.  相似文献

We study the dynamics of a growing crystalline facet where the growth mechanism is controlled by the geometry of the local curvature. A continuum model, in (2+1) dimensions, is developed in analogy with the Kardar-Parisi-Zhang (KPZ) model is considered for the purpose. Following standard coarse graining procedures, it is shown that in the large time, long distance limit, the continuum model predicts a curvature independent KPZ phase, thereby suppressing all explicit effects of curvature and local pinning in the system, in the “perturbative” limit. A direct numerical integration of this growth equation, in 1+1 dimensions, supports this observation below a critical parametric range, above which generic instabilities, in the form of isolated pillared structures lead to deviations from standard scaling behaviour. Possibilities of controlling this instability by introducing statistically “irrelevant" (in the sense of renormalisation groups) higher ordered nonlinearities have also been discussed. A modified Korteweg-de Vries (mKdV) lattice is found to be also a discrete Korteweg-de Vries (KdV) equation. A discrete coupled system is derived from the single lattice equation and its Lax pair is proposed. The coupled system is shown to be related to the coupled KdV and coupled mKdV systems which are widely used in physics.  相似文献

We study, in one space dimension, the heat equation with a random potential that is a white noise in space and time. This equation is a linearized model for the evolution of a scalar field in a space-time-dependent random medium. It has also been related to the distribution of two-dimensional directed polymers in a random environment, to the KPZ model of growing interfaces, and to the Burgers equation with conservative noise. We show how the solution can be expressed via a generalized Feynman-Kac formula. We then investigate the statistical properties: the two-point correlation function is explicitly computed and the intermittence of the solution is proven. This analysis is carried out showing how the statistical moments can be expressed through local times of independent Brownian motions.  相似文献

It has recently been proposed that fluctuating "pulled" fronts propagating into an unstable state should not be in the standard Kardar-Parisi-Zhang (KPZ) universality class for rough interface growth. We introduce an effective field equation for this class of problems, and show on the basis of it that noisy pulled fronts in d+1 bulk dimensions should be in the universality class of the ((d+1)+1)D KPZ equation rather than of the (d+1)D KPZ equation. Our scenario ties together a number of heretofore unexplained observations in the literature, and is supported by previous numerical results.  相似文献

We study the growth through particle deposition of the surface of a discrete two-dimensional system, in which the motion of particles is affected by infinite gravity and the Kob-Andersen kinetic rule. Computer simulation results are found to be consistent with previous results in literature, showing that this particular case belongs to the same universality class as Ballistic Deposition, the Eden model, one step solid-on-solid (SOS) deposition and Kardar-Parisi-Zhang (KPZ) characterized by scaling exponents α=0.5, β=1/3=0.33 and z=α/β=1.5.  相似文献

We study a noisy Kuramoto–Sivashinsky (KS) equation which describes unstable surface growth and chemical turbulence. It has been conjectured that the universal long-wavelength behavior of the equation, which is characterized by scale-dependent parameters, is described by a Kardar–Parisi–Zhang (KPZ) equation. We consider this conjecture by analyzing a renormalization-group equation for a class of generalized KPZ equations. We then uniquely determine the parameter values of the KPZ equation that most effectively describes the universal long-wavelength behavior of the noisy KS equation.  相似文献

The continuum Kardar-Parisi-Zhang equation in one dimension is lattice discretized in such a way that the drift part is divergence free. This allows to determine explicitly the stationary measures. We map the lattice KPZ equation to a bosonic field theory which has a cubic anti-hermitian nonlinearity. Thereby it is established that the stationary two-point function spreads superdiffusively.  相似文献

We study exact stationary properties of the one-dimensional Kardar-Parisi-Zhang (KPZ) equation by using the replica approach. The stationary state for the KPZ equation is realized by setting the initial condition the two-sided Brownian motion (BM) with respect to the space variable. Developing techniques for dealing with this initial condition in the replica analysis, we elucidate some exact nature of the height fluctuation for the KPZ equation. In particular, we obtain an explicit representation of the probability distribution of the height in terms of the Fredholm determinants. Furthermore from this expression, we also get the exact expression of the space-time two-point correlation function.  相似文献

A systematic method from the discreteness to the continuity is presented for the dislocation equation of the triangular lattice. A modification of the Peierls equation has been derived strictly. The modified equation includes the higher order corrections of the discrete effect which are important for the core structure of dislocation. It is observed that the modified equation possesses a universal form which is model-independent except the factors. The factors, which depend on the detail of the model, are related to the derivatives of the kernel at its zero point in the wave-vector space. The results open a way to deal with the complicated models because what one needs to do is to investigate the behaviour near the zero point of the kernel in the wave-vector space instead of calculating the kernel completely.  相似文献
