A novel potentiometric Cr(6+) PVC matrix membrane sensor incorporating nickel tris(1,10-bathophenanthroline) hydrogen chromate as an electroactive material and 2-nitrophenyl phenyl ether as solvent mediator is described. In a phosphate buffer solution of pH 5, the sensor displays a rapid and linear response for Cr(6-) over the concentration range 2 x 10(-2)-8 x 10(-6) M with an anionic slope of 55.5 +/- 0.2 mV decade(-1) and a detection limit of the order of 0.4 microg ml(-1). The sensor is used for sequential determination of Cr(6+) and Cr(3+) by direct monitoring of Cr(6+) followed by oxidation of Cr(3+) and measurement of the total chromium. The average recoveries of Cr(3+) and Cr(6+) at concentration levels of 0.5-50 microg ml(-1) are 98.1 +/- 0.4% and 99.1 +/- 0.4% respectively. Redox and precipitation titrations involving Cr(6+) as a titrant are monitored with the sensor. Cr(3+) and/or Cr(6+) in wastewaters of some industries (e.g., leather tanning, electroplating, aluminum painting) and the chromium contents of some alloys and refractory bricks are assessed. The results agree fairly well with data obtained using the standard diphenylcarbazide spectrophotometric method.  相似文献

Poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) based membranes of zinc-phthalocyanine (ZPC) with hexadecyltrimethylammonium bromide (HTAB) as a cation excluder, and dibutyl phthalate (DBP) and benzyl acetate (BA) as plasticizing solvent mediators were prepared and investigated as a SO4(2-) selective electrode. The best performance was observed with a membrane having a composition of ZPC-PVC-HTAB-BA in a ratio of 5%:32%:3%:60%, which works well over a wide concentration range (1.0 x 10(-2) - 1.0 x 10(-6) M) with a Nemstian slope of -29.2 mV per decade of activity, between the pH values of 2.0 to 7.0. This sensor shows a very fast response time of 10 s, and can be used over a period of 2 months with good reproducibility. The proposed sensor displays excellent selectivity for SO4(2-) over a large number of common inorganic anions. The sensor has been successfully applied for the direct and indirect determination of sulfate and zinc in zinc sulfate tablets, respectively. It was also used as an indicator electrode in the potentiometric titration of sulfate ions with barium ions.  相似文献

The construction and performance characteristics of a novel chromate ion-selective membrane sensor are described and used for determining chromium(III) and chromium(VI) ions. The sensor is based on the use of a rhodamine-B chromate ion-associate complex as an electroactive material in a poly(vinyl chloride) membrane plasticized with o-nitrophenyloctyl ether as a solvent mediator. In a phosphate buffer solution of pH 6 - 7, the sensor displays a stable, reproducible and linear potential response over the concentration range of 1 x 10(-1) - 5 x 10(-6) mol l(-1) with an anionic Nernstian slope of 30.8 +/- 0.5 mV decade(-1) and a detection limit of 1 x 10(-6) mol l(-1) Cr(VI). High selectivity for Cr(VI) is offered over many common anions (e.g., I-, Br-, Cl-, IO4-, CN-, acetate, oxalate, citrate, sulfate, phosphate, thiosulfate, selenite, nitrate) and cations (e.g., Ag+, Ca2+, Sr2+, Co2+, Ni2+, Cu2+, Mn2+, Fe2+, Zn2+, Cd2+, Al3+, Cr3+). The sensor is used for determining Cr(VI) and/or Cr(III) ions in separate or mixed solutions after the oxidation of Cr(III) into Cr(VI) with H2O2. As low as 0.2 microg ml(-1) of chromium is determined with a precision of +/-1.2%. The chromium contents of some wastewater samples were accurately assessed, and the results agreed fairly well with data obtained by atomic absorption spectrometry.  相似文献

In this research, new electrodes were prepared by incorporating a new calix[4]arene derivative into a plasticized poly(vinyl chloride) matrix. Calibration plots with Nernstian slopes (29.9 ± 1.1 mV/decade) for vanadyl ion were observed over a linear range of about four decades of concentration (1.0 × 10−5 to 1.0 × 10−1 mol dm−3, at 25 °C). This electrode revealed a lower limit of detection of 3.9 × 10−6 mol dm−3. Conductometric data showed the relatively strong interaction between calix[4]arene and vanadyl ions. The results show that this electrode can be used in acetonitril and methanol media until 10% (v/v) concentration without interference. It has a short response time and can be used for more than two months without any considerable divergence in the potentials. The influence of membrane composition, the pH of the test solution, and the interfering ions on the electrode performance was investigated. The effect of temperature on the electrode response showed that the temperature higher than 50 °C deteriorates the electrode performance. The isothermal temperature coefficient of this electrode amounted to 0.0015 V °C−1. The results of application show that the electrode can be used successfully in present Cr3+ and Fe3+.  相似文献

A novel tetrachlorothallate (III) (TCT)-selective membrane sensor consisting of tetrachlorothallate (III)-2,3,5-triphenyl-2-H-tetrazolium ion pair dispersed in a PVC matrix plasticized with dioctylphthalate is described. The electrode shows a stable, near-Nernstian response for 1×10−3-4×10−6 M thallium (III) at 25 °C with an anionic slope of 56.5±0.5 over the pH range 3-6. The lower detection limit and the response time are 2×10−6 M and 30-60 s, respectively. Selectivity coefficients for Tl(III) relative to a number of interfering substances were investigated. There is negligible interference from many cations and anions; however, iodide and bromide are significantly interfere. The determination of 0.5-200 μg ml−1 of Tl(III) in aqueous solutions shows an average recovery of 99.0% and a mean relative standard deviation of 1.4% at 50.0 μg ml−1. The direct determination of Tl(III) in spiked wastewater gave results that compare favorably with those obtained by the atomic absorption spectrometric method. The electrode was successfully applied for the determination of thallium in zinc concentrate. Also the tetrachlorothallate electrode has been utilized as an end point indicator electrode for the determination of thallium using potentiometric titration.  相似文献

A new tetradentate dihydrogen perchlorate macrocyclic ligand (2,4,9,11-tetraphenyl-1,5,8,12-tetraazacyclotetradeca-1,4,8,11-tetraene dihydrogen perchlorate) was prepared and characterised. The macrocycle behaves as a selective chelating ion-exchanger for some metal ions. The polystyrene-based membrane electrode is found to exhibit quite promising selectivity for Cr3+ ions. It can be used to estimate chromium concentrations in the range 3.16x 10(-6)-1.00x10(-1) M with a near-Nernstian slope of 17.5 mV per decade of concentration between pH 3.0 to 6.5. The electrode is found to possess a fast response time of 15 s and was used over a period of three months with good reproducibility (s = +/- 0.3 mV). The selectivity coefficient values for mono-, di- and trivalent cations indicate excellent selectivity for Cr3+ ions over a large number of other cations. Anions such as Cl- and SO4(2-) do not interfere and the electrode also works satisfactorily in a mixed organic-water solution. The sensor has been used as an indicator electrode for the potentiometric titration of Cr3+ with EDTA. The practical utility of the membrane sensor has also been demonstrated in solutions contaminated with detergents (CTAB and SDS). Above all, the membrane sensor has been very successfully used to determine Cr3+ in some foods.  相似文献

Two new specific, selective, simple and inexpensive spectroscopic methods for estimating a trace amount of chromium (Cr3+) from a multi-vitamin with multi-mineral pharmaceutical formulations were developed. The proposed methods are based on the conversion of Cr3+ to Cr6+ either by oxidation with a nitric acid-perchloric acid mixture (method I) or by fusion with an excess amount of sodium carbonate (method II), followed by the complexation of Cr6+ with 1,5-diphenylcarbazide (DPC) in a mineral acidic solution of pH 1.0 +/- 0.5. The pink-colored complex was estimated at 544 nm. Both methods were found to be linear in the range of 0.1 - 0.8 microg/ml with a limit of detection in the range of 0.0123 - 0.0157 microg/ml and a limit of quantitation in the range of 0.0419 - 0.0525 microg/ml. Method I was found to be suitable for estimating Cr3+ species in various formulations, like tablets, capsules and syrups, while method II was found to be suitable for tablets and capsules. Satisfactory recovery from spiked samples of standard Cr3+ suggests no interference of any excipients and diverse ions present in the formulations. The developed methods were compared with AAS by ANOVA, and no significant difference was observed.  相似文献

A new PVC membrane potentiometric sensor that is highly selective to Fe(III) ions was prepared by using 2-[(2-hydroxy-1-propenyl-buta-1,3-dienylimino)-methyl]-4-p-tolylazo-phenol [HPDTP] as a suitable carrier. The electrode exhibits a linear response for iron(III) ions over a wide concentration range (3.5 × 10−6 to 4.0 × 10−2) with a super Nernstian slope of 28.5 (±0.5) per decade. The electrode can be used in the pH range from 4.5 to 6.5. The proposed sensor shows fairly a good discriminating ability towards Fe3+ ion in comparison to some hard and soft metals such as Fe2+, Cd2+, Cu2+, Al3+ and Ca2+. It has a response time of <15 s and can be used for at least 2 months without any measurable divergence in response characteristics. The electrode was used in the direct determination of Fe3+ in aqueous samples and as an indicator electrode in potentiometric titration of Fe(III) ions.  相似文献

A novel cetylpyridinium chloride-selective membrane sensor consisting of cetylpyridinium-ferric thiocyanate ion pairs dispersed in a PVC matrix placticized with dioctylphthalate is described. The electrode shows a stable, near-Nernstian response for 1 x 10(-3)-1 x 10(-6) mol l-1 cetylpyridinium chloride (CPC) at 25 degrees C over the pH range 1-6 with a cationic slope of 57.5 +/- 0.4. The lower detection limit is 8 x 10(-7) mol l-1 and the response time is 30-60 s. Selectivity coefficients for CPC relative to a number of interfering substances were investigated. There is negligible interference from many cations, anions and pharmaceutical excipients; however, cetyltrimethylammonim bromide (CTMAB) interfered significantly. The determination of 0.5-350 micrograms/ml of CPC in aqueous solutions shows an average recovery of 98.5% and a mean relative standard deviation of 1.6% at 56.0 micrograms/ml. The direct determination of CPC in Ezafluor mouthwash gave results that compare favorably with those obtained by the British Pharmacopoeia method. Precipitation titrations involving CPC as titrant are monitored with a CP sensor. The CP electrode has been utilized as an end point indicator electrode for the determination of anionic surfactants in some commercial detergents.  相似文献

The construction and performance characteristics of a new potentiometric PVC membrane sensor for the determination of sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) are described. The sensor was based on the use of an N-cetyl-N,N,N trimethyl ammonium (CTA) dodecyl sulfate (DS) ion pair as ion exchange sites in PVC matrix in the presence of o-nitrophenyl octylether as plasticiser. The sensor exhibited a fast, stable, and near-Nernstian response for SDS over the concentration range of 1 × 10?3 to 10?6 M at 25°C and the pH range 4–8.5 with anionic slope of 52.5 ± 0.5 mV decade?1. The lower detection limit was 3 × 10?6 M, and the response time was 25 s. Selectivity coefficients of SDS with respect to a number of different species were investigated. There were negligible interferences caused by most of the investigated anions. The determination of 1.0–280.0 µg mL?1 of SDS in aqueous solutions showed an average recovery of 99.1%, and the mean relative standard deviation was 1.4 at 100 µg mL?1. The results obtained in the determination of SDS in liquid soap, water and in some pharmaceutical preparations compared favourably with those obtained by the Methylene Blue active substance method (MBAS). In the present investigation, the DS sensor has been used as an end-point indicator electrode for some precipitation titration reactions, e.g. titration of SDS with CTMABr and cetylpyridinium chloride with SDS.  相似文献

A reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatographic separation and determination of beryllium(II), aluminium(III) and chromium(III) with chromotrope 2C chelates on a C18-bonded stationary phase is reported. Methanol-water (45:55 v/v) containing 6 x 10(-3)M tetra-n-butylammonium bromide (TBAB) and 2 x 10(-2)M acetate buffer solution (pH 6.0) as mobile phase and with spectrophotometric detection at 530 nm was applied. The method has high sensitivity, the detection limits being 0.2 ppb for beryllium(I), 1 ppb for aluminium(III) and 2 ppb for chromium(III). Under the optimum conditions, most other metal ions did not interfere, e.g. up to 2 mg of Hg(II), Sn(II, IV), Pb(II), Bi(III), Ag(I), Zn(II), Cd(II), Cu(II), 1.5 mg of Fe(II), Co(II), Ni(II), 1.2 mg of Ca(II), Mg(II), Sr(II), Ba(II), 1 mg of Ga(III), In(III), 0.5 mg of Fe(III), 1 mg of Ga(III), In(III), 0.5 mg of Fe(III), 0.4 mg of Th(IV), Zr(IV). The method can be applied to the simultaneous determination of trace amounts of beryllium(II), aluminium(III) and chromium(III), in water, rice, flour and human hair samples.  相似文献

A novel potentiometric approach for both batch and flow injection determination of iron(II) and/or iron(III) is described. It is based on the formation and monitoring of ferroin with a PVC membrane sensor containing ferroin-TPB as an electroactive component plasticized with 2-nitrophenyl phenyl ether. The sensor exhibits fast Nernstian response for ferroin with a cationic calibration slope of 30 +/- 0.2 mV/concentration decade down to 4 x 10(-7)M ferroin (0.03 ppm Fe) at pH 3-9. Interferences from common inorganic cations are negligible or can be eliminated by a pretreatment with DDC. The ferroin sensor was successfully applied to the determination of iron contents in water, alloys, rocks and pharmaceuticals. The results show good correlation with data obtained by the standard spectrophotometric ferroin method, the coefficient of correlation is better than 0.7%.  相似文献

Zirconium(IV) phosphosulphosalicylate, a cation exchanger was synthesized by mixing zirconium oxychloride to a mixture of 5-sulphosalicylic acid and phosphoric acid. The material showed good efficiency for the preparation of an ion-selective membrane electrode. The membrane was characterized affinity for Pb(II) ions. Due to its Pb(II) selective nature, the ion-exchanger was used as an electroactive by XRD and SEM analysis. The electrode responds to Pb(II) ions in a linear range from 1 × 10−5 to 1 × 10−1 M with a slope of 43.8 mV per decade change in concentration with detection limit of 4.78 × 10−6 M. The life span of electrode was found to be 90 days. The proposed electrode showed satisfactory performance over a pH range of 4.0–6.5, with a fast response time of 15 s. The sensor has been applied to the determination of Pb(II) ions in water samples of different origins. It has also been used as indicator electrode in potentiometric titration of Pb(II) ion with EDTA.  相似文献

A new methodology was proposed for the speciation of chromium by differential pulse adsorptive stripping voltammetry (DPAdSV) using pyrocatechol violet (PCV) and N-(2-hydroxyethyl)ethylenediamine-N,N′,N′-triacetic acid (HEDTA) as complexing agents. In this procedure, a partial least squares (PLS) regression was used for the resolution of the strongly overlapping voltammetric signals from mixtures of Cr(III) and Cr(VI) in the presence of PCV and HEDTA. The relative error in absolute value was <6% when concentrations of several mixtures were calculated. The analysis of the possible effect of the presence of foreign ions in the solution was performed. The procedure was successfully applied to the speciation of chromium in different samples of natural water.  相似文献

The ion-association complex formed between a thiocyanato-iron(III) ion and a benzyltriethylammonium ion is extracted into 1,2-dichloroethane, and its absorbance at 476 nm is used for determination of the iron. Beer's law is obeyed up to about 4 mug/ml iron concentration in the final solution. The molar absorptivity is 2.79 x 10(4) l.mole(-1).cm(-1).  相似文献

The electrodeposition of Pu and Am onto stainless steel discs from 3.2M ammonium chloride solution is strongly affected by the iron concentration of the electrolyte. At Fe(III) concentrations of more than 0.1mM (30 g Fe in 5 ml) only 30–40% of236Pu and 6% of241Am can be deposited. Tracer experiments with59Fe suggest that exchange processes take place between Fe from the surface layer of the cathode and from the electrolyte. Double tracer studies show increasing236Pu/59Fe- and decreasing241Am/59Fe-ratios with increasing iron content of the electrolyte, which may be due to different sorption properties on colloidal iron hydroxides formed at pH<3.6.  相似文献

The design of a simple chemiluminescence photometer is described. The sample is injected into a spectrophotometric cell containing the reagents, and the resultant chemiluminescence peak is recorded along with the peak height and peak area. The instrument includes a temperature-controlled cell holder with stirring capabilities. The determination of p.p.b. levels of chromium(III) is described. Chromium(III) enhances the chemiluminescence reaction of luminol and hydrogen peroxide in basic solutions. Useful calibration curves are obtained from 4 · 10-9 to 10-4 M Cr(III); 5 · 10-10 M is the detection limit. Chromium(III) is determined in natural water samples and NBS Orchard leaves.  相似文献

Ion-selective electrode (ISE) was designed by dispersing the dysprosium(III) IIP particles in 2-nitrophenyloctyl ether plasticizer and then embedded in polyvinyl chloride matrix. The ISE shows a Nernstian response for dysprosium(III) over a wide concentration range (8.0 × 10−6 to 1.0 × 10−1 M) with a slope of 21.7 mV per decade. The limit of detection was 2 × 10−6 M. This sensor has a very fast response time (∼10 s) and offers high selectivity compared to conventional chemical sensors towards dysprosium(III) with respect to several alkali, alkaline earth and transition metal ions as the selectivity is 10-100-fold better. The sensor was used for determination of dysprosium(III) ions by potentiometric (EDTA) titration and has been successfully demonstrated for the determination of fluoride in mouth wash solution.  相似文献

A disposable screen-printed electrode was designed and evaluated for direct detection of chromium(VI) in batch and flow analysis. The carbon screen-printed electrode was modified with a graphite–epoxy composite. The optimal graphite–epoxy matrix contains 37.5% graphite powder, 12.5% diphenylcarbohydrazide, a selective compound for chromium(VI), and 50% epoxy resin. The principal analytical parameters of the potentiometric response in batch and flow analysis were optimized and calculated. The screen-printed sensor exhibits a response time of 20 ± 1 s. In flow analysis, the analytical frequency of sampling is 70 injections per hour using 0.1 M NaNO3 solution at pH 3 as the carrier, a flow rate of 2.5 mL·min−1, and an injection sample volume of 0.50 mL. The sensor shows potentiometric responses that are very selective for chromium(VI) ions and optimal detection limits in both static mode (2.1 × 10−7 M) and online analysis (9.4 × 10−7 M). The disposable potentiometric sensor was employed to determine toxicity levels of chromium(VI) in mineral, tap, and river waters by flow-injection potentiometry and batch potentiometry. Chromium(VI) determination was also carried out with successful results in leachates from municipal solid waste landfills.  相似文献
