We investigate, analytically and numerically, a class of novel higher-order spatial solitons in two transverse-dimensions, in highly nonlocal nonlinear media. The stability of these solutions in propagation is confirmed by direct numerical simulation. Our results demonstrate that the higher-order spatial solitons in highly nonlocal nonlinear media can exist in various forms, such as the fundamental solitons, vortex-ring solitons, multipole solitons, and fractional solitons.  相似文献

We investigate numerically surface-wave solitons occurring at the interface between semi-infinite linear and thermal nonlinear optical media, with the refractive index of the linear medium being greater than that of the nonlinear medium (in the absence of light). We find that the threshold energy flows of the existence of the surface solitons depend on the linear refractive index difference of the two media. Their fitting empirical formula has been obtained. Furthermore, we elucidate that the optical beams propagating in thermal nonlinear optical media, either as a single surface soliton or as a dipole surface soliton, can be attracted to the surface, even when launched from far away.  相似文献

采用Legendre正交多项式法,对液/固界面声波反射和透射系数进行求解。利用Legendre正交多项式对正交各向异性板中的位移解进行展开,推导出板中的应力和波动控制方程。联立液/固界面的边界条件和波动控制方程,建立线性无关方程组,用以计算液/固界面的反射和透射系数及Legendre多项式的展开系数,计算所得铝板液/固界面的反射和透射系数与传递矩阵法的计算结果吻合良好。以单向纤维增强复合材料板为例,在不同的方位角下,分析了反射和透射系数随斜入射角度、入射波频率的变化关系,以及板中声场的位移分布。所取Legendre正交多项式截止阶数越大,可用来计算的频厚积范围越大。研究拓展了Legendre正交多项式法的适用范围,为材料力学性能的声学测量提供了理论基础。  相似文献

For practical-purpose studies in underwater acoustics, a new method is proposed to determine the bottom reflection coefficient on the basis of multiple bottom-surface reflections. The method allows one to obtain the angular dependence of the bottom reflection coefficient at grazing angles from several degrees to several tens of degrees in the audio and infrasonic frequency bands. The sound field structure is studied in deep-water regions of the Black (2000 m) and Arabian (4000 m) seas at frequencies within 10–400 Hz. For the regions under investigation, the frequency-angular dependence of the reflection coefficient is obtained with the use of the proposed method. The data for the Black Sea are compared with those provided by the conventional method based on the use of single and double bottom and bottom-surface reflections. Experimental data on the values and variations of the bottom reflection coefficient are presented for different deepwater and shallow-water regions of the World Ocean. The presence of shear waves in the bottom sediments is revealed, and the effect of these waves on the frequency-angular dependence of the reflection coefficient is demonstrated.  相似文献

We investigate total internal reflection of optical spatial solitons at the interface between two regions of nematic liquid crystals with different optical densities. Due to nonlinear molecular reorientation, the solitons experience a penetration depth, hence, a lateral shift that depends on the excitation, with lateral shifts from 0.7 to 1.2 mm as input powers increased from 1.6 to 9.3 mW.  相似文献

研究了强非局域克尔介质中光束的演化规律,通过相位分析得到了空间孤子相互作用所满足 的非局域非线性薛定谔方程的简化近似模型,并获得了双光束传输的解析解.结果表明在传 输过程中相互作用的高斯光束的相位决定于它们的输入总功率.以振幅一强一弱共同传输的 高斯光束为例进行了具体研究,得到了强光和弱光的解析式,相位分析显示弱光在相当短的 传输距离之内能产生大的相移,可以通过对强光能量的调控来实现对弱光的相位调制. 关键词: 非局域克尔介质 空间光孤子 孤子相互作用 相位调制  相似文献

We address multipole surface solitons occurring at the interface between a linear medium and a nonlocal nonlinear medium. We show the impact of nonlocality, the propagation constant, and the linear index difference of two media on the properties of the surface solitons. We find that there exist a threshold value of the degree of the nonlocality at the same linear index difference of two media, only when the degree of the nonlocality goes beyond the value, the multipole surface solitons can be stable.  相似文献

We study the reflection of one-dimensional spatial solitons at the non-linear interface between a Kerr-type medium and a linear medium. Our study places emphasis on determining the physical conditions under which the beam reflected by the non-linear interface is still a spatial soliton. We find that for small angles of incidence an elastic internal reflection takes place, in the sense that the reflected soliton is essentially the same as the incident one. For incidence angles near a critical angle, the reflected soliton becomes less intense and its reflection angle is smaller than the angle of incidence. Finally, for spatial solitons with input angles well above the critical angle, the main part of the energy is transmitted to the linear medium, and no soliton is internally reflected.  相似文献

Experimental observation and numerical results concerning collisions between scalar and vector spatial solitons in a Kerr planar waveguide are presented. It is shown that this configuration allows for the full control of spatial and polarization dynamics of the interacting vector solitons. On the one hand, the ability to achieve polarization control of a single-hump vector soliton is demonstrated. On the other hand, the effect of collision on the spatial symmetry-breaking dynamics of multimode vector solitons is investigated.  相似文献

采用传递矩阵法,同步联立改进的Biot理论,对含液固界面的双相多孔锂离子电池的超声反射与透射系数进行理论求解。考虑锂离子的摇摆特性对电极力学性能的影响,计算了对应状态下液/固界面的双相多孔锂离子电池声反射及透射系数的角度谱与频率谱。同时,构建了不同荷电状态时含单元锂离子电池的频域仿真模型,以萃取对应的超声反射及透射角度谱及频率谱,并与理论计算结果对比吻合良好。随后,以多单元锂离子电池为例,在不同的荷电状态下,分析了反射与透射系数随斜入射角度、入射波频率的变化关系,并分别指出了其角度谱及频率谱特征点随荷电状态的变化特征,为锂离子电池运行状态的超声无损测量提供了理论基础。  相似文献

The excitation of well-localized oblique surface waves above the surface of a dielectric with a one-dimensional array of perfectly conducting wires is studied theoretically using the attenuated total internal reflection method. It is assumed that the distance between the wires and their diameter are much smaller than the surface wavelength. The frequencies of excited surface waves are much lower than the plasma frequency of the metal, and their electric field is orthogonal to the wires. It is shown that such surface waves can be excited with the help of a homogeneous TM wave as well as with the help of a homogeneous wave with an electric field polarized perpendicularly to the wires. It is found that in the course of excitation of oblique waves, the incident TM wave is partly polarized into a wave of the TE type.  相似文献

By utilizing a rigorous plane-wave representation, we investigate the basic wave mechanism that is responsible for both the lateral (Goos-H?nchen) shift of a gaussian light beam incident from a denser medium upon the interface to a rarer medium, and the weak radiance that accompanies the reflected beam. We thus find that the complete reflected field contains a geometric-optics component, whose domain is given by the mirror reflection of the incident beam, as well as a lateral-wave component which occupies a much larger domain. Our results show that the near field of the lateral-wave component interferes with the geometric-optics component and thereby produces the Goos-H?nchen shift of the reflected beam. The intermediate and far fields of the lateral-wave, on the other hand, are responsible for the weak radiance that trails the reflected beam. By demonstrating that both the beam shift and the trailing radiance represent two facets of the same wave process, the lateral-wave field is shown to provide a unified interpretation of two effects that have previously been regarded as separate phenomena. The dependence of these effects on beam width, angle of incidence, and polarization are also considered. Granular materials exhibit a strongly nonlinear behavior affecting the propagation of energy and information. Dynamically self-organized strongly nonlinear solitary waves are the main information carriers in granular chains. We report the first experimental observation of the dramatic change of solitary wave reflectivity from the interface of two granular media triggered by a magnetically induced precompression. It may be appropriate to name this phenomenon the "acoustic diode" effect. We explain this effect by the high gradient of particle velocity near the interface.  相似文献

We elaborate the theory of reflection of an optical signal beam from an inhomogeneous channel created by a high-power laser beam of different frequency in a nonlinear defocusing medium. We study the effects of total internal reflection and nonlinear diffraction in the interaction of these beams. We derive and analyze the equation for the trajectory of the reflected signal beam and obtain the expression for the critical value of beam-intersection angle below which the total internal reflection occurs. We discuss the results of numerical modeling of nonlinear Schr¨odinger equations for envelopes of the beams in media with quadratic, photorefractive, and thermal nonlinearities. We present experimental data on the interaction of beams of argon and helium–neon lasers in a cuvette with tinted alcohol.  相似文献

In wide-field fluorescence microscopy, illuminating the specimen with evanescent standing waves increases lateral resolution more than twofold. We report a versatile setup for standing-wave illumination in total internal reflection fluorescence microscopy. An adjustable diffraction grating written on a phase-only spatial light modulator controls the illumination field. Selecting appropriate diffraction orders and displaying a sheared (tilted) diffraction grating allows one to tune the penetration depth in very fine steps. The setup achieves 91 nm lateral resolution for green emission.  相似文献
