A set of nonlinearly coupled algebraic and differential eigenvalue equations of nonlinear axisymmetric free vibration of orthotropic shallow thin spherical and conical shells are formulated.following an assumed time-mode approach suggested in this paper. Analytic solutions are presented and an asymptotic relation for the amplitude-frequency response of the shells is derived. The effects of geometrical and material parameters on vibrations of the shells are investigated.  相似文献

Summary The nonlinear bending theory for symmetrically laminated elliptical plates exhibiting rectilinear orthotropy with transverse shear deformation is developed. Using Galerkin's method, the paper solves the problem of large deflections for plates under uniform lateral pressure. The special case of symmetrically laminated rectilinearly orthotropic circular plates is also discussed. Analytical solutions obtained may be applied directly to the design of engineering structures. The paper presents a solution to the problem of thermal conduction and thermoelasticity for a thin shallow spherical shell heated by a concentrated or local impulsive heat source moving over the shell surface. It is assumed that temperature is linearly distributed across the shell thickness and that the shell, on its sides, exchanges heat with the environment in accordance with Newton’s law of cooling. The Fourier and Laplace transforms are used to find an analytic solution. Summary In this paper, a model of cusped catastrophe at nonlinear dynamic buckling of a symmetrically laminated cylindrically orthotropic shallow spherical shell is presented. Summary This work presents an exact piezothermoelastic solution of infinitely long, simply supported, cylindrically orthotropic, piezoelectric, radially polarised, circular cylindrical shell panel in cylindrical bending under thermal and electrostatic excitation. The general solution of the governing differential equations is obtained by separation of variables. The displacements, electric potential and temperature are expanded in appropriate Fourier series in the circumferential coordinate to satisfy the boundary conditions at the simply-supported longitudinal edges. The governing equations reduce to Euler-Cauchy type of ordinary differential equations. Their general solution involves six constants for each Fourier component. These are solved from the algebraic equations obtained by satisfying the boundary conditions at the lateral surfaces. The solution of the inverse problem of inferring the applied temperature field from the given measured distribution of electrical potential difference between the lateral surfaces of the shell has also been presented. Numerical results are presented for typical thermal and electrostatic loadings for various values of radius to thickness ratio.  相似文献

The thermomechanical bending of an elastic sandwich ring plate with light core on an elastic foundation is considered. This is one of the applications of Part (I), in which the angular stiffness, and the corresponding stress distributions of U-shaped bellows were discussed. The bellows was divided into protruding sections, concave sections and ring plates for the calculation that the general solution (I) with its reduced form to ring plates were used respectively, but the continuity of the surface stresses and the meridian rotations at each joint of the sections were entirely satisfied. The resent results were compared with those of the slender ring shell solution proposed earlier by the authors, the standards of the Expansion Joint Manufacturers Association (EJMA), the experiment and the finite element method. This is one of the applications of Part (I), in which the angular stiffness, the lateral stiffness and the corresponding stress distributions of C-shaped bellows were calculated. The bellows was divided into protruding sections and concave sections for the use of the general solution (I), but the continuity of the stress resultants and the deformations at each joint of the sections were entirely satisfied. The present results were compared with those of the other theories and experiments, and are also tested by the numerically integral method. Summary An elasticity solution has been obtained for a long, thick transversely isotropic circular cylindrical shell subjected to distributed pinch load using a set of three displacement functions. Numerical results are presented for different materials and thickness to mean radius ratios. The results obtained from this analysis have been compared with classical and first-order shear deformation shell theories of Flugge, Sanders, Love and Donnell.  相似文献

The overall bending of circular ring shells subjected to bending moments and lateral forces is discussed. The derivation of the equations was based upon the theory of flexible shells generalized by E.L. Axelrad and the assumption of the moderately slender ratio less than 1/3 (i.e., ratio between curvature radius of the meridian and distance from the meridional curvature center to the axis of revolution). The present general solution is an analytical one convergent in the whole domain of the shell and with the necessary integral constants for the boundary value problems. It can be used to calculate the stresses and displacements of the related bellows. The whole work is arranged into four parts: (Ⅰ) Governing equation and general solution; (Ⅱ) Calculation for Omega-shaped bellows; (Ⅲ) Calculation for C-shaped bellows; (Ⅳ) Calculation for U-shaped bellows.
