Saturated absorption of infrared radiation by p-doped Ge is treated theoretically, predicting that both the saturation intensity and the width of the probe-saturator spectrum oscillate as functions of the saturator photon energy, ?ω. The maxima occur for ?ω = nLO, where n is an integer and ?ωLO is the zone-center LO phonon energy. The results may a lso provide the closest measurement of hole cascade relaxation times to date. The oscillations depend on theoretical estimates that the LO phonon emissions occur substantially more rapidly than other decay processes. Hence failure to observe the oscillations would belie these estimates.  相似文献

本文讨论了工作[3]中决定耦合系统磁化系数的方法,并用来分析自旋-晶格弛豫过程。在弱耦合的情况下,得出了决定磁化系数的耦合方程组,并求出纵向非共振吸收和横向共振吸收线型的表达式。得出的纵向和横向弛豫时间是外加交变场频率的函数,这反映了高频场对弛豫的影响是由于所用密度矩阵方程为非马尔科夫型的直接结果。在远离共振点处,所得的线型公式和德拜型或洛仑兹型差别较大。一般说来,非马尔科夫效应是不能忽略的。在自旋S=1的情况,我们系统地分析了纵向及横向弛豫的基本过程。其中包含与通常讨论的过程相应的项,如单声子过程,Raman过程,Orbach过程等等,但现在都有外加交变场频率ω参与进去。最后讨论了声子的寿命对横向弛豫时间的影响。  相似文献

A simple kinetic theory of non-resonant absorption by a dilute gas of symmetric top molecules is presented. Attention is focussed on the case where absorption occurs in the presence of static magnetic and electric fields. The macroscopic polarization of interest is found to behave differently in the two cases, but the lineshape has the same simple lorentzian form to a very good approximation. The predictions of the present theory agree with recent experimental observations, and the discrepancies of a previous kinetic theory are analysed and shown to be removable.  相似文献

In the framework of effective mass approximation the electronic states in semi-spherical quantum lens under the influence of strong magnetic field are investigated. We have used the adiabatic approximation for the case of strong magnetic field. The eigenfunctions and eigenvalues of this problem are determined. In strong confinement regime interband optical absorption of light is investigated in quantum lens from InAs. The threshold frequencies of absorption are determined. The comparison with the case of film under the influence of strong magnetic field with infinitely high confinement potential is performed.  相似文献

We consider the problem of the influence of nonlinear effects on the results of measuring the ratio of ultrasound absorption by using a resonator cavity. The relative amplitudes and the frequency response function of a nonlinear ultrasonic cavity with plane piezoelectric converters were calculated. The ranges of operating frequencies, at which the influence of nonlinear effects is significant, are determined. It is shown that in the case of nonlinear oscillations, the relaxation time of the fundamental harmonic is significantly shorter than that for the linear regime, which leads to overestimation of the measured ultrasound absorption rate.  相似文献

Various methods for the determination of the S1-state lifetime of dye solutions (laser dyes and modelocking dyes) are analysed. A general model of interaction of laser light with dye molecules is presented and reduced to a dye energy level scheme of six levels. Fluorescence emission, light amplification and absorption recovery techniques are investigated theoretically and their limitations revealed. The determination of the S1-state lifetime of saturable absorbers by single picosecond pulse bleaching experiments is very thoroughly discussed. The influence of various laser and dye parameters on the bleaching experiments are analysed numerically. The results are compared with isotropic steady state two- and three-level dye models.  相似文献

A model study of the characteristic signatures of carrier-correlation effects on the excitonic differential absorption spectra in semiconductors is presented. Using an effectively one-dimensional tight-binding system Coulomb-induced carrier-correlations up to third-order in the optical field are treated without additional approximations. To illustrate the influence of the different many-body contributions excitonic differential absorption spectra are computed for various polarizations and pump-probe time delays. The simultaneous influence of energetic disorder and correlations on the differential absorption spectra is discussed. Also presented are numerical results for the case when the semiconductor system is placed inside a microcavity in the strong-coupling regime. It is shown that the correlations induce characteristic signatures in the normal mode spectra. Received 22 January 1999  相似文献

Expressions making it possible to calculate the transmission coefficient of an ultrasonic interferometer, its Q factor and errors of interferometric measurements are presented. These expressions are obtained on the basis of a one-dimensional model which takes into account the non-ideal reflection of acoustic waves from the transducers, diffraction losses and electromechanical properties of transducers. Fixed path ultrasonic interferometers which are widely used for high precision measurements of ultrasound absorption and velocity in liquids, include air-backed transducers. Air-backing limits the application of these interferometers for the measurements under the high pressures. The influence of non-gaseous backing of transducers on the characteristics of an interferometer is theoretically analysed by means of suggested expressions. Frequency dependences of main parameters of the interferometer are obtained. The possibility of high precision measurements of velocity and absorption of ultrasound in liquids under the high pressures by means of fixed path interferometers with liquid-backed transducers is shown.  相似文献

In this paper the different loss mechanisms of light in multimode fibres are analysed from the point of view of the extinction of leaky skew rays. First, the intrinsic loss mechanism of leaky rays due to optical tunnel effect is fully investigated by means of a quasi-classical approach and a well approximated form of the relative extinction coefficient is derived. Second, the influence of other loss phenomena, due to imperfections or impurities in the fibre such as core and cladding absorption and scattering, on the relative contribution of leaky rays is analysed. Finally some phenomena of failed excitation of leaky rays are also examined. The phenomena are analysed both qualitatively and quantitatively and a comparative analysis of various effects referring to actual fibres is made.R. We theoretically analysed the linewidth of the probe absorption spectrum in a cold Cs atom--molecule system. The tunnelling coupling between the two excited molecular states, especially for the Cs atom--molecule system, plays an important role in obtaining the sub-natural linewidth of the probe absorption spectrum. For example, when the tunnelling couple strength fulfils \sigma _12=10γ _ab1, the linewidth is only about 0.66~MHz. Moreover, since the linewidth of interest is dominated by the tunnelling coupling, the absorption peak becomes very narrow even in the case of large pump laser intensities.  相似文献

The paper discusses three different artifacts related to two-photon absorption (TPA), stimulated Raman amplification (SRA) and cross-phase modulation (XPM), all intrinsic to transient absorption measurements with femtosecond time resolution. Certain properties of these signals are analysed and shown to superimpose onto measured transient absorption spectra. Ways of reducing the influence of the artifacts discussed are suggested. A simple correcting procedure based on the linear intensity dependence of the artifacts discussed is proposed. A new model is described for the absorption of laser light by a plasma. Two issues important for high laser intensity are considered: changes in the electron velocity distribution and the absorption non-linearity. The effects of anisotropy and non-Maxwellian distribution function are analysed with a hard sphere model. It is shown that anisotropy alters the electron-ion collision frequency by an amount which depends on the ratio of the temperatures in direction of and perpendicular to the laser field.The effect of high laser intensity is considered assuming Coulomb collisions, and a new expression obtained for the collision frequency as a function of quiver velocity. It will be shown that the result is in agreement with the Spitzer result in the case of small fields and with the result of Catto and Speziale in the case of very strong fields, but shows an unexpected maximum of the collision frequency in an intermediate regime.  相似文献

We have investigated the photodiffractive effect induced by resonant excitations in semiconductor microstructures by means of the multiple wave coupling method. We have derived set of multiple wave coupling equations for photodiffractions in the case of coexistence of refraction and absorption gratings. Numerical results of the equations for a few typical cases have been analysed in detail, and their physical significance is also discussed.  相似文献

In ?-type three level configurations having long lived lower levels extremely sharp two photon resonances occur. We want to draw attention to the use of these resonances for distinguishing the hyperfine splitting of lower and upper set of levels of molecular transitions. A new feature in the theoretical model is that the saturator and probe beams are coupled both to transitions rendering possible the appearance of interference between the resonances.  相似文献

The features of the nonlinear absorption of CdSe/ZnS quantum dots (colloidal solution) in the case of resonant one- and two-photon excitation of the basic exciton transition by powerful ultra-short laser pulses were determined. In one-photon excitation, with an increasing intensity of impulses, a decrease in absorption (bleaching) is relayed by an increase in absorption, which is associated with the process of the filling of the states (saturation) of a two-level system with the lifetime of the excited state depending on the light intensity. The arising Fresnel or Fraunhofer diffraction of the laser ray that pass through a colloidal solution with a high concentration of quantum dots is associated with the formation of the transparency channel and self-diffraction of laser ray on an induced diaphragm. In two-photon excitation, the features of the nonlinear absorption and luminescence tracks (the dependence of luminescence intensity on distance) were explained by the influence, in addition to the two-photon absorption, of the processes that are responsible for the slower growth of nonlinear absorption and luminescence quenching at high intensities of laser pulses.  相似文献

Multiple scattering of electromagnetic waves by a plane layer of a turbulent magnetized collision plasma is considered. The influence of the distance between both the emitter and the receiver and the layer boundaries is analysed. It is found that the width of the angular spectrum of the received radiation for sufficiently strong absorption in the plasma is greater than in the collisionless plasma; the spectral maximum is substantially displaced with respect to the direction of the source. It is shown that these effects are weakened when the emitter approaches the layer. The relationship between the spectral width and also the displacement of its maximum and the distance from the receiver to the layer boundary may be substantially non-monotonic.  相似文献

It is shown that there are two possible mechanisms whereby a singlet-triplet absorption band of a molecule can gain intensity under the perturbing influence of a paramagnetic species. The first involves some mixing of the triplet state with the singlet states of the molecule. The second involves a mixing of the triplet state with charge-transfer states of the complex formed between the molecule and the paramagnetic species. It is shown that in the particular case of an alternant hydrocarbon, the first singlet-triplet absorption band is unlikely to gain intensity by the first of these mechanisms. It follows by elimination that the charge-transfer mechanism is the more important. The available experimental evidence supports this viewpoint.  相似文献
