The electric form factor of the neutron G E,n has been determined at the Mainz Microtron MAMI at the low momentum transfer Q 2= 0.15 (GeV/c)2 in a measurement of the recoil polarisation ratio P x/Pz in the quasifree reaction D(e,e′n)p. At this Q 2 the influence of the nuclear binding is strong. A purely kinematical model is used to get some insight into the effect of the initial Fermi momentum distribution of the neutron. The influence of the final state interaction is determined quantitatively by a model of Arenh?vel et al.. After the corresponding corrections a value of G E,n(0.15 (GeV/c)2) = 0.0481±0.0065stat±0.0053syst is obtained. Received: 12 April 1999  相似文献

The electric form factor of the neutron, GE,n, has been measured at the Mainz Microtron by recoil polarimetry in the quasielastic De, e¯n)p reaction. Three data points have been extracted at squared four-momentum transfers Q 2 = 0.3, 0.6 and 0.8 (GeV/c)2. Corrections for nuclear binding effects have been applied. This revised version was published online in March 2005. In the previous version, the email address of one author was inadvertently assigned to multiple authors.  相似文献

We extract the neutron charge form factor G n E(Q 2) from the charge form factor of deuteron G d C(Q 2) obtained from T 20(Q 2) data at 0≤Q 2≤ 1.717 (GeV/c)2. The extraction is based on the relativistic impulse approximation in the instant form of the relativistic Hamiltonian dynamics. Our results (12 new points) are compatible with existing values of the neutron charge form factor of other authors. We propose a fit for the whole set (36 points) taking into account the data for the slope of the form factor at Q 2 = 0. The polarization transfer from longitudinally polarized electrons to protons in the elastic scattering p( e, e' p) has been measured around Q2 = 0.4 (GeV/c)2 with the three-spectrometer facility at the Mainz microtron MAMI. From this polarization transfer the ratio G Ep/(G Mpp) has been determined. The ratio is found to be slightly less than unity in agreement with recent results from other laboratories and from the Rosenbluth separation of cross-sections measured with unpolarized electrons. The electric form factor of the neutron GEn has been determined in double polarized exclusive 3 He(e,e'n) scattering in quasi–elastic kinematics by measuring asymmetries A , A of the cross section with respect to helicity reversal of the electron, with the nuclear spin being oriented perpendicular to the momentum transfer q in case of A and parallel in case of A. The experiment was performed at the 855 MeV c. w. microtron MAMI at Mainz. The degree of polarization of the electron beam and of the gaseous 3 He target were each about 50%. Scattered electrons and neutrons were detected in coincidence by detector arrays covering large solid angles. Quasi–elastic scattering events were reconstructed from the measured electron scattering angles ϑe, φe and the neutron momentum vector p n in the plane wave impulse approximation. We obtain the result <G En>(0.27 < Q2c2/GeV2 < 0.5)= 0.0334 ± 0.0033stat± 0.0028syst which is averaged over the indicated range of Q 2, the squared momentum transfer. This G En value is significantly smaller than measured from the D(e,e'n) reaction under similar kinematical conditions. To what extent final state interactions in 3He quench the G En result is subject of calculations currently in progress elsewhere. Received: 29 April 1999  相似文献

On basis of principle of discreteness of the space and time the following relations are obtained ΛoMoc = 2π?, τoEo = 2π? and c2 = 2GMoo giving the values of fundamental elements of length Λo ≈ (?G/c3)1/2, mass Mo ≈ (?c/G)1/2, time τo ≈ (?G/c5)1/2 and energy Eo ≈ (?c5/G)1/2. The geon crown of any critical system and the crown of the Universe must have a thickness equal to the fundamental length Λo = 2(π?G/c3)1/2 = 5.74. 10?33 cm. Each critical system has its specific (most probable) quantum with an average invariant mass which in the case of the Universe is equal to (2π2?Hu/Gc)1/3 ≈ 300 me where Hu is Hubble's constant. There are all reasons to consider the universal virtual quanta of an invariant mass mu ≈ 300 me as carriers of gravitational, electromagnetic and nuclear fields in the Universe.  相似文献

During the last 1995 data acquisition period at LEP, the DELPHI experiment collected an integrated luminosity of 5.9 pb−1 at centre-of-mass energies of 130 GeV and 136 GeV. Radiative leptonic events (e, μ, τ) with high energy photons were studied and compared to Standard Model predictions. The data were used to search for charged excited leptons decaying through an electromagnetic transition. No significant signal was found. From the search for pair produced excited leptons, the limits me* > 62.5 GeV/c2, mμ* > 62.6 GeV/c2 and mτ* > 62.2 GeV/c2 at 95% confidence level were established. For single excited lepton production, upper limits on the ratio λ/ml* of the coupling of the excited charged lepton to its mass were derived.  相似文献

We discuss the applicability of pQCD to the elastic scattering of electrons on protons and deuterons. We analyze the Q2-dependence of the reduced deuteron form factor, taking into account the recent data on the electric proton form factor and we find that the value of the QCD-scale parameter Λ differs essentially from the value Λ = 0.1 GeV, previously found using the dipole parametrization of the electromagnetic nucleon form factors GE and GM. Moreover, the predicted scaling behavior of the reduced deuteron form factor cannot be recovered in the Dirac and Pauli representations for the nucleon electromagnetic form factors. Considering the nucleon as a system of confined valence quarks surrounded by pions we derive a Galster-like parameterization of the neutron electric form factor GEn. Furthermore, we show that the proposed parameterization can be linked to properties of the pion cloud. By this, the high-quality data for the pion form factor can be used in predictions of GEn in the low-Q2 region, where the direct double-polarization measurements are not available.Received: 11 August 2003, Revised: 16 October 2003, Published online: 5 January 2004PACS: 13.40.Gp Electromagnetic form factors - 12.39.Jh Nonrelativistic quark model  相似文献

The HAPPEX Collaboration measured parity-violating electron scattering from 4He$(e, e)$and H(e, e) in 2004 and 2005 for Q 2≤0.11GeV^2. Results for the strange-quark contributions to the electromagnetic form factors of the nucleon from the 2004 data will be reviewed. Preliminary results from the 2005 data, which have significantly greater statistical precision, are G E s = 0.004±0.014stat±0.013syst for Q 2 = 0.0772GeV^2 from the helium data and G E s +0.088G M s = 0.004±0.011stat±0.005syst±0.004FF for Q 2 = 0.1089GeV^2 from the hydrogen data.  相似文献

In the SKAT bubble chamber neutrino experiment production of a short-living neutral particle with mass (1.4?m?2.5) GeV/c2 and lifetime τ≈6×10?12 s has been detected. The event may be interpreted as production and decay of the heavy lepton M0μ?+e++νe with mass (1.4?mM0?2.1) GeV/c2. It might also be the production of a charmed particle D0→e++τ?+νe (D0→e++π?+νe) with mass 1.4?mD0?2.5) GeV/c2 in a non-diagonal neutral current. The probability to interpret the event as other possible processes is very low.  相似文献

Differential and total cross sections are found for the formation of an electron-positron pair during the annihilation of longitudinally polarized protons and antiprotons (pp e+ e) and for the inverse reaction (e+ e- pp) in the single-photon approximation, account is taken of the anapole and electric dipole moments of the proton, which violate C, P, and T parity. Possible ways to determine the square moduli of the form factors for the anapole [G1(q2)] and electric dipole [G2(q2)] moments and to determine the relative phase of the form factors Fe(q2) and G2(q2) [Fm(q2) and G1(q2)] are pointed out. Estimates are found for ¦(G1q22 and ¦G2(q2) ¦2 with q2 = –6.8 (GeV/c)2.Translated from Izvestiya VUZ. Fizika, No. 8, pp. 59–65, August, 1970.The authors thank Professor A. A. Sokolov, Professor I. M. Measurement of the neutron electric form-factor G E n for the values of the transferred momentum Q 2 = 1.3, 1.7, 2.5, and 3.5 (GeV/c)2 has been performed at the Jefferson Laboratory (USA). The experiment used the technique of double polarization where the asymmetry of the quasielastic scattering in the semi-inclusive 3 $ \overrightarrow {He} $ ( $ \vec e $ . e′n)pp reaction is measured. The obtained asymmetry is connected directly with the ratio of electric to magnetic form-factors of the neutron which allows obtaining the former with use of the known values of the latter. This work presents the technique of extraction of the asymmetry from the obtained experimental data.  相似文献

The longitudinal double spin asymmetry A1 ρ for exclusive leptoproduction of ρ0 mesons, μ+N→μ+N+ρ, is studied using the COMPASS 2002 and 2003 data. The measured reaction is incoherent exclusive ρ0 production on polarised deuterons. The Q2 and x dependence of A1 ρ is presented in a wide kinematical range, 3×10-3<Q2< 7 (GeV/c)2 and 5×10-5<x<0.05. The results presented are the first measurements of A1 ρ at small Q2 (Q2< 0.1 (GeV/c)2) and small x (x<3×10-3). The asymmetry is in general compatible with zero in the whole kinematical range. The nucleon's strange electric and magnetic form factors G E s and G M s can be probed via parity-violating electron scattering. The HAPPEX Collaboration has made new measurements of the parity-violating asymmetry A PV in elastic scattering of 3GeV electrons off hydrogen and 4He targets with 〈θlab〉 ≈ 6.0° . For 4He the preliminary result is A PV = (+ 6.43±0.23(stat)±0.22(syst))×10-6 . For hydrogen the preliminary result is A PV = (- 1.60±0.12(stat)±0.05(syst))×10-6 . From these values we extract G s E = 0.004±0.014±0.013 at 〈Q 2〉 = 0.077 GeV/c^2 , and G s E +0.09G s M = 0.004±0.011±0.005 at 〈Q 2〉 = 0.109 GeV/c^2 , both consistent with zero, providing stringent new limits on the role of strange quarks in the vector structure of the nucleon.  相似文献

Fermion masses
In this paper, we show that 2m e m /(m e 2 +m 2 = (g V/g A) e 2 . From this expression, the Weinberg mixing parameter is shown to be 0·2254 or 0·2746. Assuming that the electron and muon neutrino masses are degenerate, we find thatm v = (g V/g A) e 2 . (m e m )/M WL, where MWL is the mass of the standard W± boson. The neutrino mass turns out to be 6·5 eV. The -neutrino mass is found to be about 81 MeV. The masses of c, t, s and b quarks are found to be respectively 1·7 GeV, 21·2 GeV, 0·57 GeV and 2·18 GeV by assumingm d=m u= 0·3 GeV. All these masses agree with other estimates except the b quark which has about half of its expected value.  相似文献
