A KIND OF FLUORESCENCE PROBE TO STUDY THE KINETICS OF POLYMERIZATION PROCESS

Fluorescence properties of 1-pheny1-3-(4'-nitrophenyl) pyrazoline (PNP) were studied inbulk polymerization process of methylmethacrylate (MMA). The fluorescence intensity of PNPwas enhanced and the emission maximum was blue shifted with the polymerization progress. Inthe period of auto-acceleration of the polymerization the enhancement of fluorescence intensityand blue shift of peak wavelength in spectra could be observed evidently. This means that thesolvatochromic properties of PNP are influenced not only by the solvent polarity but also by theviscosity of the medium (especially by the phase transitiott). In solid state PNP emits from thecharge transfer excited state without solvent relaxation. The transient emission spectra and theresults from Bakhshiev model of solvent relaxation coincide with that from the polymerizationexperiment.

A MODEL STUDY ON MODE OF BONDING OF CISPLATIN WITH DNA

The interaction of cis-[Pt(NK_3)_2Cl_2] with nucleosides, as constituents of DNA, was studled by spectrophotometric, ~(13)C NMR and CNDO/2 methods. The apparent stability constants of the complexes formed and the initial rate of formation were determined. The sites of binding of nucleoside (or nucleotide) with Cisplatin were ascertained and the electronic structure of the model coordination compounds of Cisplatin and guanine was calculated by MO approach. On the basis of the obtained results, the mechanism of the antitumour action of Cisplatin was discussed, and a new possible mode of bonding of Cisplatin with DNA was proposed.     

EFFECT OF PHOSPHORUS ADDITION TO ZrO_2/SiO_2 ON CATALYTIC PROPERTIES FOR DEHYDROGENATION OF METHANOL

The effect of phosphorus addition to ZrO_2/SiO_2 on the performanceof catalysts for dehydrogenation of methanol was studied.The results showedthat the addition of P to ZrO_2/SiO_2 significantly enhanced the selectivity toHCHO with an increase in the CH_3OH conversion.The surface properties ofcatalyst were characterized by XRD,TPD,XPS and IR methods.The role of Pas a promoter in the above catalyst was discussed.

A NOVEL TITANIUM COMPLEX WITH LINKED β-DIKETONATO-INDENYL LIGAND FOR CATALYTIC SYNDIOSPECIFIC POLYMERIZATION OF STYRENE

A novel ligand (3), in which the indenyl group is linked to a β-diketone moiety through a three-carbon bridge, andits titanium complex (4) were synthesized. The titanium complex was employed as a metallocene analog with co-catalystmethylaluminoxane (MAO) in catalytic syndiospecific polymerization of styrene to give highly syndiotactic polystyrene(s-PS, 96%-97%). Polymerization temperature (T_p) strongly influenced the catalytic activity and syndiotacticity of theproduced PS. The activities of catalyst 4 increase from 1.84×10~6 to 3.26×10~6 gPS/molTi·h with the increase of T_p from60℃ to 80℃ and the syndiotacticities of the produced s-PS also increase slightly. Then, both the catalytic activity and thesyndiotacticity of PS decrease at T_p of 90℃.

STUDY ON THE ADSORPTION OF OXIDATION OF CROSSLINKED β—CYCLODEXTRIN AND ITS CXOMPOSITE ADSORBENT WITH DIALYTIC MEMBRANE

An urea adsorbent with an aldo structure was obtained by the oxidation of a crosslinked β-cyclodextrin polymer.The highest urea adsorption capacity reached 56.7mg/g in 0.05Maqueous phosphate buffer 37℃ and pH=7.4,and decrease to 4.8mg/g in in aqueous human serum albumin.The composite adsorbent was prepared by the oxidation of a crosslinked β-cyclodextrin and dialytic membrane.It was found that the composite adsorbent has a higher urea adsorption selectivity and capacity compared to that of the oxidation of a crosslinked β-cyclodextrin adsorbent when urea is in aqueous human serum albumin.     

A STUDY ON THE SELECTIVE REDUCTION OF AROMATIC AMIDE WITH LiAlH_4

In the synthesis of l-phenyl-5-substituted amino-4-pyrazole N-alkyl amide,it was found for the first time that one of the two aromatic amido groups in the moleculeof 1-phenyl-5-benzoyl amino-4-pyrazole N-alkyl amide was reduced selectively by LiAlH_4.new conclusion was drawn after several experiments have been done that ortho-amino(orsubstituted amino)aryl amide or the aryl amide with its ortho substituent which canbe reduced into an amino group(or substituted amino group)can not be reduced by LiAlH_4.It was further rationalized by quantum chemical calculation.     

STUDY ON BclI/St14 RFLPs IN CHINESE FOR DNA DIAGNOSIS FOR HEMOPHILIA A

The BclI polymorphism within DXS52 (St14) was reported. It was composed of 4 allelic fragments 4.0 kb, 3.3 kb, 3.0 kb and 2.3 kb, The frequency of these fragments were 0.09, 0.12, 0.44 and 0.35 respectively in the Chinese. The polymorphism provided the PIC of 0.66. DNA analysis of families, with hemophilia A showed that the confidence of the RFLPs was the same as the TaqI/St14 RFLPs and for carrier detection the former is much better than that of the TaqI/St14 RFLPs.     

A STUDY ON THE CHEMICAL MECHANISM FOR POWDER CORROSION OF BRONZE ALLOY

A Cu-Sn-Pb alloy modelled after an antique was cast and the powder-corrosion (P-C) was prepared on it under simulated natural conditions. The main components of the corrosion are much like those of the ancient bronze powder corrosion. It is found that chloride, water and oxygen are the essential factors for P-C formation of which chlorine plays the most important role. According to the results of expriments and thermodynamic calculations, the chemical mechanism of the copper desease was studied. It is pointed out that the fast spread of P-C is caused by two vicious circles.     

STUDY ON THE OXIDIZED GRAPHITE MATERIAL COATED WITH N-DOPED PHENOLIC RESIN FOR LITHIUM ION BATTERIES

Carbon-coated oxidized graphite has been prepared by a liquid-state deposition method. Oxidized graphite wasprepared by wet chemical oxidation. Oxidation increases the reversible capacity of graphite, but its initial charge anddischarge efficiency was reduced. Phenolic resin was applied to form the disordered carbon layer on the oxidized graphite.The efficiency and reversible charge capacity were obviously increased. The morphology of carbon materials wasinvestigated by SEM.     

STUDY ON MEAN-SQUARE RADIUS OF GYRATION FOR POLYALKYLENEOXIDES

Taking account of the effect of heteroatoms in backbone, this article dealt with themean-square radii of gyration of polyalkyleneoxides by the approach of matrix algebrain accordance with the rotational isomeric state model. Numerical calculation with theparameters available in the literatures indicated that the dependence of on themolecular weight can be expressed by the general formula: = aM~b     

A STUDY OF PHOTOELECTROCHEMICAL CELLS BASED ON SILICON ELECTRODES COATED WITH METAL LAYERS

Photoelectrochemicat cells,composed of different epitaxial n-Si photoele trodescoated with metal such as nickel o platinum and immersed in a solution of redox couple BrBr_2 or Fe(CN)_6~(4- 3-),are investigated.A high conversion efficiency from optical to electri-cal energy up to 13.6% can be achieved under optimum conditions.
