We consider second-order evolution equations in an abstract setting with intermittently delayed/not-delayed damping. We give sufficient conditions for asymptotic and exponential stability, improving and generalizing our previous results from Nicaise and Pignotti (Adv Differ Equ 17:879–902, 2012). In particular, under suitable conditions, we can consider unbounded damping operators. Some concrete examples are finally presented.  相似文献

We study long-time dynamics of abstract nonlinear second-order evolution equations with a nonlinear damping. Under suitable hypotheses we prove existence of a compact global attractor and finiteness of its fractal dimension. We also show that any solution is stabilized to an equilibrium and estimate the rate of the convergence which, in turn, depends on the behaviour at the origin of the function describing the dissipation. If the damping is bounded below by a linear function, this rate is exponential. Our approach is based on far reaching generalizations of the Ceron–Lopes theorem on asymptotic compactness and Ladyzhenskayas theorem on the dimension of invariant sets. An application of our results to nonlinear damped wave and plate equations allow us to obtain new results pertaining to structure and properties of global attractors for nonlinear waves and plates.  相似文献

By using the Z p geometrical index theory, some sufficient conditions on the multiplicity results of periodic solutions to the second-order difference equations
are obtained. By two examples, we show that our results are the best possible in the sense that the lower bound of the number of periodic solutions cannot be improved.  相似文献

This paper presents an adaptive regulation scheme for a class ofordinary nonlinear nonautonomous second-order differential equationswhich includes as particular cases a number of particular differentialequations which occur in applications. The unforced reference model isproposed to be a stable differential parametrization within the generalclass dealt with. Therefore, some sufficient Lyapunov's stabilityconditions for such a class are previously investigated which can beused, in particular, to set an appropriate reference model. Theresulting closed-loop adaptive scheme is proved to be stable and itinvolves a parameter estimation scheme of least-squares type which isproved to possess all suitable properties in terms of estimatesboundedness and asymptotic convergence of the estimates to finite limitsas well as time-integrability of the squared adaptation error.  相似文献

In this paper we consider a class of differential equations with state-dependent delays. In this paper, we investigate the asymptotic stability of the zero solution and boundedness of all solutions of a certain third order nonlinear ordinary vector differential equation. The results are proved using Lyapunov’s second (or direct method). Our results include and improve some well known results existing in the literature.  相似文献

We investigate the asymptotic behavior of solutions of the damped nonlinear oscillator equation
where uf(u) > 0 for u ≠ 0, a(t) ≥ 0, and α is a positive constant with 0 < α ≥ 1. The case α = 1 has been investigated by a number of other authors. Here, it is shown that the behavior of solutions in the case of sublinear damping (0 < α < 1) is completely different from that in the case of linear damping (α = 1). Sufficient conditions for all nonoscillatory solutions to converge to zero and sufficient conditions for the existence of a nonoscillatory solution that does not converge to zero are given. We also give sufficient conditions for all solutions to be nonoscillatory. Objectivity and compatibility with thermodynamics of evolution equations are examined in connection with the modelling of viscoelastic solids. The purpose of the paper is to show that the evolution equation for the stress is eventually obtained by means of a tensorial internal variable within the framework of the reference configuration. The non-simple character is realized by gradients of the internal variable. The thermodynamic analysis is developed by investigating the entropy inequality in the reference configuration and allowing for a non-zero extra-entropy flux. It follows that the evolution for the Cauchy stress tensor involves the Oldroyd derivative, irrespective of the form of the non-local terms.  相似文献

Consideration is given to the nonlinear theory of elastic waves with cubic nonlinearity. This nonlinearity is separated out, and the interaction of four harmonic waves is studied. The method of slowly varying amplitudes is used. The shortened and evolution equations, the first integrals of these equations (Manley–Rowe relations), and energy balance law for a set of four interacting waves (quadruplet) are derived. We discuss ordinary differential equations with delay and memory terms in Hilbert spaces. By introducing a time derivative as a normal operator in an appropriate Hilbert space, we develop a new approach to a solution theory covering integro-differential equations, neutral differential equations and general delay differential equations within a unified framework. 基于薄壁构件分析的基本假定,采用双轴对称截面薄壁圆弧曲梁的精确翘曲位移表达式,导出了曲梁考虑几何非线性情况下的总势能,根据欧拉公式得到了曲梁的稳定平衡方程。推导中采用横截面线性和非线性总应变为零的假定,从而无需考虑横向应力的影响,对应变高阶项采用合理的简化处理,使理论推导过程简单明了。在理论推导的基础上分析了简支拱在均布径向荷载和两端等弯矩荷载作用下的平面内和平面外屈曲问题,并与其他研究者的结果进行了比较,追溯了各理论结果存在差别的根源,论证了本文理论推导过程的合理性。使用通用有限元软件ANSYS进行了模拟,与本文的分析结果一致,证明了所得公式的正确性。通过一些无碍结果的近似使所得公式形式简洁,便于在工程中应用。  相似文献
