The influence of periodic perturbation on the system of two nonlinear stochastic equations, which model low-frequency pulsations in crisis and transient modes of heat-and-mass transfer with phase transitions, has been investigated by numerical methods. When studying the influence of the periodic perturbation on the system, a researcher should largely take into account the phase diagram. It is shown that nonequilibrium phase transitions from asymmetric cycles of phase trajectories to centrally symmetric ones occur in the absence of noise. These transitions are accompanied by the stochastic resonance response, which enhances as the frequency of the external periodic force decreases.  相似文献

We analyze systematically the effective order parameters in nuclear shape phase transition both in experiments and in the interacting boson model. We analyze systematically the effective order parameters in nuclear shape phase transition both in experiments and in the interacting boson model. We find that energy ratios and B(E2) ratios can distinguish the first- from the second-order phase transition in theory above a certain boson number N (about 50), but in experiments, only those quantities, such as E(L 1 +)/E(02 +) and B(E2; (L+2)1L 1)/B(E2; 21 → 01), etc., of which the monotonous transitional behavior in the second-order phase transition is broken in the first-order phase transition independent of N, are qualified as the effective order parameters. By implementing the originally proposed effective order parameters and the new ones, we find that the isotones with neutron number N n = 62 are a trajectory of the secondorder phase transition. In addition, we predict that the transitional behavior of isomer shifts of Xe, Ba isotopes and N n = 62 isotones is approximately monotonous due to the finiteness of nuclear system.  相似文献

Semi-infinite systems with a bulk tricritical point are studied using a free energy functional of the Ginzburg-Landau-Wilson type. Tricritical surface exponents, order parameter profiles and the phase diagram are presented within mean field theory. Quantum phase transitions occur at zero temperature when some non‐thermal control‐parameter like pressure or chemical composition is changed. They are driven by quantum rather than thermal fluctuations. In this review we first give a pedagogical introduction to quantum phase transitions and quantum critical behavior emphasizing similarities with and differences to classical thermal phase transitions. We then illustrate the general concepts by discussing a few examples of quantum phase transitions occurring in electronic systems. The ferromagnetic transition of itinerant electrons shows a very rich behavior since the magnetization couples to additional electronic soft modes which generates an effective long‐range interaction between the spin fluctuations. We then consider the influence of rare regions on quantum phase transitions in systems with quenched disorder, taking the antiferromagnetic transitions of itinerant electrons as a primary example. Finally we discuss some aspects of the metal‐insulator transition in the presence of quenched disorder and interactions.  相似文献

Quantum phase transitions in mesoscopic systems are studied. It is shown that the main features of phase transitions, defined for infinite number of particles, N--> infinity, persist even for moderate N approximately 10. A Landau analysis of first order transitions is done and a "critical" exponent at the spinodal point is defined. Two order parameters are introduced to distinguish first from second order transitions. Applications to atomic nuclei, molecules, atomic clusters, and finite polymers are mentioned. Experimental evidence in atomic nuclei is presented.  相似文献

The helicity of adjacent phase trajectories in chaotic dynamic systems may be characterized by the distribution of local angular-rotation velocities of the infinitesimal displacement vector whose evolution is determined by linearized equations of motion. This distribution is close to the distribution of local Lyapunov exponents. The simplest models show that the whirl velocity of adjacent trajectories affects the rate of mixing of dynamical variables and sensitivity of the phase trajectories to perturbations.  相似文献

The results of numerical simulations of strongly-coupled two-dimensional dissipative Yukawa systems are presented. The thermodynamic characteristics of these systems were studied, namely the internal energy, the specific heat and the entropy. For the first time, it is discovered that the considered characteristics have two singular points on the melting line; one of these points corresponds to the first-order phase transition from crystal to the hexatic phase, and another point corresponds to the second-order phase transition from the hexatic phase to the isotropic liquid. The obtained results are compared to the existing numerical and analytical data.  相似文献

We investigate quantum phase transitions (QPTs) in spin chain systems characterized by local Hamiltonians with matrix product ground states. We show how to theoretically engineer such QPT points between states with predetermined properties. While some of the characteristics of these transitions are familiar, like the appearance of singularities in the thermodynamic limit, diverging correlation length, and vanishing energy gap, others differ from the standard paradigm: In particular, the ground state energy remains analytic, and the entanglement entropy of a half-chain stays finite. Examples demonstrate that these kinds of transitions can occur at the triple point of "conventional" QPTs.  相似文献

The theory and the results of an investigation of nonequilibrium noise-induced phase transitions in the simple example of a physical pendulum with a randomly oscillating pivot are presented. It is shown that such transitions lead to the appearance of a more ordered state of the system. We present a classification scheme for phase transitions in finite systems like atomic and molecular clusters based on the Lee-Yang zeros in the complex temperature plane. In the limit of infinite particle numbers the scheme reduces to the Ehrenfest definition of phase transitions and gives the right critical indices. We apply this classification scheme to Bose-Einstein condensates in a harmonic trap as an example of a higher order phase transition in a finite system and to small Ar clusters.  相似文献

It was recently suggested that transient dynamical properties were of some use to predict equilibrium critical properties of 2D and 3D models of statistical mechanics on the lattice. We investigate such dynamical properties for three related models with competitive interactions, namely the ANNNI model, the brickwork model, and the BNNNI model. In spite of known differences in their equilibrium phase diagrams, our simulations display similar transient dynamical behaviors for all three models. The phase study of a Cd-Yb 1/1 approximant crystal over a wide pressure and temperature range is crucial for the comparison study between periodic and quasiperiodic crystals. The Cd(4) tetrahedra, the most inner part of the atomic clusters, exhibited various structural ordering in the orientation sensitive to pressure and temperature. Five ordered phases appeared in a P-T span up to 5.2 GPa and down to 10 K. The propagation direction of ordering alternated from [110] to <111> to at about 1.0 GPa and again to [110] at 3.5-4.3 GPa. The primarily ordered phases that appeared by cooling to 210-250 K between 1.0-5.2 GPa further transformed to finely ordered ones at 120-155 K. Besides the original short-range type interaction, a long-range type interaction was likely developed under pressure to lead to the primary ordering of Cd(4) tetrahedra. Coexistence of these interactions is responsible for the complicated phase behavior.  相似文献
