Abstract

Trimethylphenylammonium tribromide has been introduced as a versatile and new oxidizing agent for the preparation of disulfides and sulfoxides from thiols and sulfides, respectively. The reaction progress is simple, and proceeds under mild and homogenous conditions in ambient temperature.

Abstract

Two synthetic methods leading to β-iminophosphonates, phosphineoxides, and sulfides 2 are reported. The first method involves the reaction of imines with chlorophosphines and phosphites followed by oxidation or sulfurization. The second one utilizes the reaction of imines with diethylchlorophosphate and thiophosphate. The stereochemistry of the obtained products is discussed, and their structure is confirmed by NMR (1H, 31P, 13C) and IR spectroscopies, and by mass spectrometry.

Abstract

Dialkyl-2-(dialkoxyphosphonyl)-3-(1,6-dihydro-6-oxo-4-propylpyrimidin-2-ylthio) succinates and dialkyl-2-(dialkoxyphosphonyl)-3-(1,6-dihydro-6-oxopyrimidin-2-ylthio) succinates were synthesized in moderate to high yields using a novel, facile, and one-pot condensation of dialkyl acetylenedicarboxylates, trialkylphosphites, and thiouracil derivatives.

Abstract

Novel 3-[4-(6-bromo-4-oxo-2-phenylquinazolin-3(4H)-yl)benzoyl]-2-substituted-1,3,4-thiazolium-5-thiolate 7(a–j) and 3-{4-[(6-bromo-2-phenylquinazolin-4-yl)amino] benzoyl}-2-substituted-1,3,4-thiadiazolium-5-thiolate 12(a–j) were synthesized from 6-bromo-2-phenyl-4H-3,1-benzoxazin-4-one (1). The structures of the newly synthesized compounds were confirmed by spectral data and elemental analysis.

Abstract

Photolysis of 2-(trimethylstannyloxy)-3,6-di-tert-butyl-benzquinone-1,4 (I), 2-(triphenylstannyloxy)-3,6-di-tert-butyl-benzquinone-1,4 (II), and 2-(tribenzylstannyloxy)-3,6-di-tert-butyl-benzquinone-1,4 (III) by light with the wavelength 436 nm leads to the evolution of carbon mono- and dioxide and the formation of hydrocarbon radicals with their consequent recombination.

Abstract

Various substituted thiazolidin-2-ones were synthesized from the corresponding thiazolidine-2-thiones with bromoethanol in ethanol with sodium ethoxide as a base. The optimal reaction conditions and mechanism were reinvestigated in detail. The bioassay indicated that (S)-4-isobutyl and (S)-4-benzylthiazolidin-2-ones show certain inhibitive activities against Candida albicans and Escherichia coli.

Abstract

The novel S-, S,S-, and S,S,S-substituted nitrobutadienes were synthesized from the reactions of 2-nitrobutadiene compounds with some thiols. The new N,S-substituted nitrobutadienes were obtained from the reaction of the mono-thiosubstituted butadienes with morpholine, thiomorpholine, homopiperazine, and piperazine derivatives. The structures of new compounds were determined by spectroscopic techniques.

Abstract

A new method is described for the efficient and high regioselective conversion of epoxides to symmetrical and unsymmetrical vic-dihalides in high yields using chlorodiphenylphosphine and N-halosuccinimides under solvent-free and neutral conditions and at room temperature.
