A new Schiff base, {1-[(2-hydroxy-naphthalen-1-ylmethylene)-amino]-4-phenyl-2-thioxo-1, 2-dihydro-pyrimidin-5-yl}-phenyl-methanone, has been synthesized from N-amino pyrimidine-2-thione and 2-hydroxynaphthaldehyde. Metal complexes of the Schiff base were prepared from acetate/chloride salts of Cu(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Zn(II), and Cd(II) in methanol. The chemical structures of the Schiff-base ligand and its metal complexes were confirmed by elemental analyses, IR, 13C-NMR, 1H-NMR, API-ES, UV-Visible spectroscopy, magnetic susceptibility, and thermogravimetric analyses. The electronic spectral data and magnetic moment measurements suggest mononuclear octahedral and mononuclear or binuclear square planar structures for the metal complexes. In light of these results, it was suggested that this ligand coordinates to each metal atom by hydroxyl oxygen, azomethine nitrogen, and thione sulfur to form octahedral complexes with Cd(II) and Zn(II).  相似文献

A novel Schiff base has been designed and synthesized using the bioactive ligand obtained from 4-aminoantipyrine, 3,4-dimethoxybenzaldehyde and 2-aminobenzoic acid. Its Cu(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Zn(II) complexes have also been synthesized in ethanol medium. The structural features have arrived from their elemental analyses, magnetic susceptibility, molar conductance, mass, IR, UV–Vis, 1H NMR and ESR spectral studies. The data show that the complexes have composition of ML2 type. The electronic absorption spectral data of the complexes suggest an octahedral geometry around the central metal ion. The interaction of the complexes with calf thymus (CT) DNA has been studied using absorption spectra, cyclic voltammetric, and viscosity measurement. The metal complexes have been found to promote cleavage of pUC19 DNA from the super coiled form I to the open circular form II. The complexes show enhanced antifungal and antibacterial activities compared with the free ligand.  相似文献

Abstract

A novel dioxime, 1,2 dihydroxyimino-3,7-diaza-9,10-O-benzaloctane (LH2) was prepared by reaction of l,2-0-benzylidene-4-aza-7-aminoheptane and anti-phenylchloroglyoxime in absolute ethanol. Mononuclear complexes with a metal-ligand ratio of 1:2 were prepared with Co(II), Cu(II) and Ni(II). To elucidate the structures of the ligand and complexes, elemental analyses, IR, 1H NMR and 13C NMR spectral data and magnetic susceptibility measurements have been examined.  相似文献

Complexes of Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Pd(II) and Pt(II) were synthesized with the macrocyclic ligand, i.e., 2,3,9,10-tetraketo-1,4,8,11-tetraazacycoletradecane. The ligand was prepared by the [2 + 2] condensation of diethyloxalate and 1,3-diamino propane and characterized by elemental analysis, mass, IR and 1H NMR spectral studies. All the complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, molar conductance, magnetic susceptibility measurements, IR, electronic and electron paramagnetic resonance spectral studies. The molar conductance measurements of Mn(II), Co(II) and Ni(II) complexes in DMF correspond to non electrolyte nature, whereas Pd(II) and Pt(II) complexes are 1:2 electrolyte. On the basis of spectral studies an octahedral geometry has been assigned for Mn(II), Co(II) and Ni(II) complexes, whereas square planar geometry assigned for Pd(II) and Pt(II). In vitro the ligand and its metal complexes were evaluated against plant pathogenic fungi (Fusarium odum, Aspergillus niger and Rhizoctonia bataticola) and some compounds found to be more active as commercially available fungicide like Chlorothalonil.  相似文献

In this study, 1,2-dihydroxyimino-3,7-di-aza-9,10-O-α-methyl benzal decane (LH2) was synthesized starting from 1,2-O-α-methyl benzal-4-aza-7-amino heptane (RNH2) and antichloroglyoxime. With this ligand, complexes were synthesized using Ni(II) and Cu(II) salts with a metal:ligand ratio of 1:2. However, the reaction of the ligand with salts of Zn(II) and Cd(II) gave products with metal:ligand ratio of 1:1. Structures of the ligand and its complexes are proposed based on elemental analyses, IR, 13C- and 1H-NMR spectra, magnetic susceptibility measurements and thermogravimetric analyses (TGA).  相似文献

A new heterocyclic compound N-(5-benzoyl-2-oxo-4-phenyl-2H-pyrimidin-1-yl)-oxalamic acid has been synthesized from N-amino pyrimidine-2-one and oxalylchloride. Bis-chelate complexes of the ligand were prepared from acetate/chloride salts of Cu(II), Co(II), Mn(II), Ni(II), Zn(II), Cd(II), and Pd(II) in methanol. The structures of the ligand and its metal complexes were characterized by microanalyses, IR, AAS, NMR, API-ES, UV-Vis spectroscopy, magnetic susceptibility, and thermogravimetric analyses. An octahedral geometry has been suggested for all the complexes, except for Pd(II) complex, in which the metal center is square planar. Each ligand binds using C(2)=O, HN, and carboxylate. The cyclic voltammograms of the ligand and the complexes are also discussed. The new synthesized compounds were evaluated for antimicrobial activities against Gram-positive, Gram-negative bacteria and fungi using the microdilution procedure. The Cu(II) complex displayed selective and effective antibacterial activity against one Gram-positive spore-forming bacterium (Bacillus cereus ATCC 7064), two Gram-positive bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 6538 and S. aureus ATCC 25923) at 40–80 µg mL?1, but poor activity against Candida species. The Cu(II) complex might be a new antibacterial agent against Gram-positive bacteria.  相似文献

Mixed-ligand m-hydroxybenzoate complexes of Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), and Zn(II) with nicotinamide were synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, FT-IR spectrometry, solid state UV-vis spectrometry, and magnetic susceptibility measurements. The thermal behavior of the complexes was studied by simultaneous TG-DTA methods in static air atmosphere. The infrared spectral characteristics of the complexes are discussed and the mass spectra data are recorded. The complexes contain two water molecules, two m-hydroxybenzoato (m-hba), and two nicotinamide (na) ligands per formula unit. In these complexes, the m-hydroxybenzoate and nicotinamide behave as a monodentate ligand through acidic oxygen and nitrogen of the pyridine ring. The decomposition pathways and the stability of the complexes are interpreted in terms of the structural data. The final decomposition products were found to be the respective metal oxides. The text was submitted by the author in English.  相似文献

A new series of Cu(II), Ni(II), and Co(II) complexes have been synthesized from 3-formylchromoniminopropylsilatrane (C19H24O5N2Si) (2) and 3-formylchromoniminopropyltriethoxysilane (1). Silatrane ligand (C19H24O5N2Si) (2) has been synthesized by the reaction between 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane and 3-formylchromone followed by a treatment with triethanolamine. The nature of bonding and the geometry of the complexes have been deduced from elemental analyses, magnetic susceptibility, infrared, electronic, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, and ESR spectral studies. The electronic absorption spectra and magnetic susceptibility measurements of the complexes indicate square planar geometry for Cu(II) and Ni(II) and tetrahedral geometry for Co(II). The redox behavior of copper complexes was studied by cyclic voltammetry. The biological activity of the ligand and metal complexes has been studied on Klebsiella pneumoniae, Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia Coli, and Bacillus subtilis by the well diffusion method using acetonitrile as solvent. The zone of inhibition values were measured at 37°C for 24 h. Antimicrobial screening tests show better results for the metal complexes than the ligand.  相似文献

Abstract

A new, thiazole derivative ligand, 4-(1-phenyl-1-methylcyclobutane-3-yl)-2-(2-hydroxy-5-bromo benzylidenehydrazino) thiazole (LH), has been synthesized by the reaction of 2-hydroxy-5-bromobenzaldehyde, thiosemicarbazide and subsequently 1-phenyl-1-methyl-3-(2-chloro-1-oxoethyl) cyclobutane. Mononuclear complexes with a metal-ligand ratio of 1 : 2 have been prepared with Cd(II), Co(II), Cu(II), Ni(II) and Zn(II). The authenticity of the ligand and its complexes was established by elemental analyses, IR, 13C and 1H NMR spectra, magnetic susceptibility measurements and thermogravimetric analyses (TGA) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC).  相似文献

Mononuclear and binuclear Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) complexes of new semicarbazone ligands derived from sulfonamide were synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis and IR spectra. In mononuclear complexes, the semicarbazone behaves as a monoanionic terdentate or neutral terdentate ligand towards the metal ion. However, in binuclear complexes, it behaves as a monoanionic terdentate towards one of the bivalent metal ions and monoanionic bidentate ligand towards the other metal ion in the same complex. Electronic spectra and magnetic susceptibility measurements of the solid complexes indicated octahedral geometry around Mn(II), Co(II) and Ni(II) and square planar around the Cu(II) ion. These geometries were confirmed by the results obtained from thermal analyses. The antifungus properties of the ligands and their complexes were investigated.  相似文献

Four new mononuclear metal complexes with a mononucleating Schiff base ligand containing two thiadiazoles units have been synthesized. The ligand and metal complexes were characterized by elemental analyses, IR, 1H, and 13C NMR, UV–vis, ESR, electrospray ionization mass spectra, and magnetic susceptibility measurements. Electronic spectra, magnetic susceptibility measurement, and molecular modeling studies support octahedral geometry around the Ni(II), Cu(II), and Zn(II) ions. The magnetic properties were investigated, and ferromagnetic coupling is observed in Cu(II) and Ni(II) complexes. In addition, total energy and heat of formation calculated for conformers of the Schiff base ligand by the semiempirical AM1 calculations have shown that E,Z‐isomer of the ligand is more stable (about 5.3 kcal/mol) than E,E‐ and Z,Z‐isomers. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The first 2-pyridylethanol (pyet) complexes of manganese(II), iron(II), cobalt(II), nickel(II), copper(II) and zinc(II) saccharinates, were synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, magnetic measurements, UV-Vis, and IR spectroscopic techniques. Crystal and molecular structures of the iron(II) and copper(II) complexes were determined by single crystal X-ray diffractometry. The experimental data showed that all the complexes are mononuclear with a general formula [M(H2O)2(pyet)2](sac)2, where sac is the saccharinate anion. All the metal ions are octahedrally coordinated by two aqua and two pyet ligands. The pyet ligand acts as a bidentate ligand through its amine nitrogen and hydroxyl oxygen atoms forming a six-membered chelate ring, while the sac ions remain outside the coordination sphere. All the complexes are isomorphous with a monoclinic space group P21/n and Z = 2.  相似文献

Summary The doubly bidentate ON-NO donor Schiff base, prepared from salicylaldehyde and 4,4-diaminodiphenylmethane forms complexes with 11 metal: ligand stoichiometric ratios. The cobalt(II), copper(II) and nickel(II) complexes exhibit subnormal magnetic moments. All the six complexes possess high melting points and are sparingly soluble in common organic solvents. A dinuclear octahedral structure is proposed for the cobalt(II), copper(II), nickel(II) and zinc(II) complexes and a dinuclear tetrahedral configuration is suggested for the cadmium(II) and mercury(II) complexes on the basis of analytical, conductance, magnetic susceptibility, molecular weight, i.r. and electronic spectral data.  相似文献

The 12- and 14-membered diazadioxo macrocyclic ligands, 1,2?:?7,8-diphenyl-6,9-diaza-3,12-dioxocyclododecane (L1) and 1,2?:?8,9-diphenyl-7,10-diaza-3,14-dioxocyclotetradecane (L2), were synthesized by condensation between o-phenylenediamine, 1,2-dibromoethane/1,3-dibromopropane, and catechol. Metal complexes [ML1Cl2] and [ML2Cl2] [M?=?Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), and Zn(II)] were prepared by interaction of L1 or L2 with metal(II) chlorides. The ligands and their complexes were characterized by elemental analyses, IR, 1H, and 13C NMR, EPR, UV-Vis spectroscopy, magnetic susceptibility, conductivity measurements, and Electrospray ionization-mass spectral (ESI-MS) studies. The results of elemental analyses, ESI-MS, Job's method, and conductivity measurements confirmed the stoichiometry of ligands and their complexes while absorption bands and resonance peaks in IR and NMR spectra confirmed the formation of ligand framework around the metal ions. Stereochemistry was inferred from the UV-Vis, EPR, and magnetic moment studies.  相似文献

Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) Schiff base complexes derived from 3-hydrazinoquionoxaline-2-one and 1,2-diphenylethane-1,2-dione were synthesized. The compounds were characterized by elemental analyses, molar conductance, magnetic susceptibility measurements, FTIR, UV–vis, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, ESR, and mass spectral studies. Thermal studies of the ligand and its metal complexes were also carried out to determine their thermal stability. Octahedral geometry has been assigned for Co(II), Ni(II), and Zn(II) complexes, while Cu(II) complex has distorted octahedral geometry. Powder XRD study was carried out to determine the grain size of ligand and its metal complexes. The electrochemical behavior of the synthesized compounds was investigated by cyclic voltammetry. For all complexes, a 2 : 1 ligand-to-metal ratio is observed. The ligand and its metal complexes were screened for their activity against bacterial species such as E. coli, P. aeruginosa, and S. aureus and fungal species such as A. niger, C. albicans, and A. flavus by disk diffusion method. The DNA-binding of the ligand and its metal complexes were investigated by electronic absorption titration and viscosity measurement studies. Agarose gel electrophoresis was employed to determine the DNA-cleavage activity of the synthesized compounds. Density functional theory was used to optimize the structure of the ligand and its Zn(II) complex.  相似文献

Palladium(II), platinum(II), ruthenium(III) and iridium(III) complexes of general stoichiometry [PdL]Cl(2), [PtL]Cl(2), [Ru(L)Cl(2)]Cl and [Ir(L)Cl(2)]Cl are synthesized with a tetradentate macrocyclic ligand, derived from 2,6-diaminopyridine with 3-ethyl 2,4-pentanedione. Ligand was characterized on the basis of elemental analyses, IR, mass, and (1)H NMR and (13)C NMR spectral studies. All the complexes were characterized by elemental analyses, molar conductance measurements, magnetic susceptibility measurements, IR, mass, electronic spectral techniques and thermal studies. The value of magnetic moments indicates that all the complexes are diamagnetic except Ru(III) complex which shows magnetic moments corresponding its one unpaired electron. The macrocyclic ligand and all its metal complexes were also evaluated in vitro against some plant pathogenic fungi and bacteria to assess their biocidal properties.  相似文献

A new series of complexes of 2-hydroxy-3,5-dimethyl acetophenone oxime (HDMAOX) with Cu(II), Co(II), Ni(II) and Pd(II) have been prepared and characterized by different physical techniques. Infrared spectra of the complexes indicate deprotonation and coordination of the phenolic OH. It also confirms that nitrogen atom of the oximino group contributes to the complexation. Electronic spectra and magnetic susceptibility measurements reveal square planar geometry for Cu(II), Ni(II) and Pd(II) complexes and tetrahedral geometry for Co(II) complex. The elemental analyses and mass spectral data have justified the ML(2) composition of complexes. Kinetic and thermodynamic parameters were computed from the thermal decomposition data using Coats and Redfern method. The geometry of the metal complexes has been optimized with the help of molecular modeling. The free ligand (HDMAOX) and its metal complexes have been tested in vitro against Alternarie alternate, Aspergillus flavus, Aspergillus nidulans and Aspergillus niger fungi and Streptococcus, Staph, Staphylococcus and Escherchia coli bacteria in order to assess their antimicrobial potential. The results indicate that the ligand and its metal complexes possess antimicrobial properties.  相似文献

Abstract

New metal complexes derived from the reaction of N-benzoyl-N′-carboxyl methylthiopropylidine thiourea (BCMT) with Cu(II), Co(II), Ni(II), and Fe(III) chloride and/or acetate salts have been synthesized and characterized using elemental analyses, molar conductance, spectral (IR, UV-Vis., mass, 1H NMR), thermal (TGA, DTG), and magnetic measurements. The IR results showed the modes of coordination in case of mononuclear and binuclear metal complexes. Different types of geometries are suggested on the basis of the spectral and the magnetic data. Also, the ligand field parameters for the metal complexes were calculated. The amounts of the solvents as well as the mechanism of decomposition were proposed using thermal measurements. The results of biological activity of the ligand give us the promise to be effective in tumors treatment.  相似文献
