A new method for the determination of butyltin species by ion-exchange chromatography linked with graphite-furnace electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry (ETAAS) is presented. The separation is achieved on a strong cation-exchange column with a 0.18 mol dm?3 solution of diammonium citrate at pH 6.5 with a step change to pH 4.0 in 60:40 methanol/water solvent. ETAAS detection is performed on-line using an oxidizing matrix modifier. Mono-, di- and tri-butyltin may be determined in a single experiment with detection limits of (respectively) 0.5, 1.1 and 0.8 ng (Sn). Applications to actual samples are reported. 相似文献

Speciation of butyltin compounds by liquid chromatography coupled to electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry of toluene solutions containing tropolone is applied to sediment samples. Tributyltin and dibutyltin may be determined at concentrations as low as a few ng · g–1. Monobutyltin is strongly retained, tetrabutyltin is not separated from tributyltin. 相似文献

Environmental damage due to organotins (TBT, DBT, MBT) released from antifouling paints is well documented. The concentrations of these compounds in seawater are usually at ppt (parts per 1012) levels. Many analytical techniques, including chromatographic and spectrophotometric ones, have been presented in the literature to detect organotins at these low levels. Liquid-liquid extraction is commonly employed as a concentration method. However, it presents some disadvantages during sampling campaigns and requires large volumes of toxic and expensive solvents. In this paper we propose an analytical method based on a liquid-solid extraction procedure that can be easily performed in the field and is characterized by good recoveries and high enrichment factors. Three different solid phases (Carbopack, LC 8 and LC 18) and five different eluting agents (methanol/tropolone, methanol, dichloromethane, hexane and diethyl ether) were evaluated. Carbopack and LC 18 were the most suitable solid phases. Inorganic tin was not retained on these solid phases and a separation of TBT from DBT and MBT was achieved, performing the elution in two steps with methanol and methanol/tropolone. In this way GF AA was suitably employed to obtain butyltin speciation data. 相似文献

Speciation of butyltin compounds in marine sediments by preconcentration on C60 and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
A new method for the speciation of butyltin compounds by solid phase extraction and direct injection using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC/MS) is described. The compounds were complexed with sodium diethyldithiocarbamate and retained on a C60 sorbent column. The neutral chelates of butyltin compounds were eluted with ethyl acetate containing NaBPr4 as derivatising reagent. The main analytical figures of merit of the proposed method for 10 ml of sample are: linear range 0.2-35 ng/g expressed as Sn; limits of detection, 0.07, 0.09 and 0.10 ng/g as Sn for monobutyltin, dibutyltin and tributyltin, respectively. No interferences from metal ions such as Zn2+, Fe3+, Sb3t, Pb2+, Ni2+ and Mn2+ were observed in the determination of organotin compounds. The validation of method was performed out by the analysis of a standard reference sediment (CRM 462). The method was also applied to the determination of butyltin compounds in marine sediment samples. 相似文献

An analytical method was developed to determine selenoamino acids in the presence of other compounds. Separation has been achieved by High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) using electrothermal atomic absorption (ETAA) spectrometry as a very sensitive and element-specific detector. On-line HPLC ETAAS speciation of selenocystine and selenomethionine has been studied, using a laboratory made interface. Analytical characterization of the method has been realized with standard solutions. Using a 100μl sample loop, the detection limits were calculated as 8 μgl?1 for selenomethionine and 10 μgl?1 for selenocystine with repeatability and reproducibility of 4% and 7% respectively. The method has been applied to the determination of selenoamino acids in an extract of white clover (CRM402) certified for total selenium. 相似文献

There have been many methods available for the determination of butyltin compounds in sediment. The variations of these methods are not in the methods of determination but rather in the extraction of these compounds from the complex matrices. All of these methods have not been critically compared or evaluated, mainly because of the lack of a suitable reference sediment for butyltin compounds. Recently, the National Research Council of Canada has introduced a reference sediment (PACS-1) which contains certified values of butyltin compounds. The present study compares the recoveries of ten extraction techniques for butyltin species using ethylation derivatization and GC AA as the method of determination. Of these ten methods, only four were found satisfactory for extraction of the dibutyltin and tributyltin species. None of the methods evaluated, however, could quantitatively extract monobutyltin from sediment. 相似文献

Experimental instrumentation for the speciation of butyltin compounds by hydride generation and gas chromatography-quartz furnace atomic absorption spectrometry is described. Evaluation of a number of extraction methods revealed that simple acid leaching of oyster samples gave adequate recoveries. The levels of each butyltin species in oyster flesh and gill are reported together with the tentative identification of a mixed methylbutyltin compound. 相似文献

The highly qualified primary method of species-specific isotope dilution analysis has been employed in this work to evaluate for the first time the levels of butyltin compounds in the estuary of the river Eo (Northwest Spain) where there is, since many years, a high oyster farming activity. A spike solution containing mono-, di- and tributyltin enriched in 119Sn allowed the simultaneous determination of the three compounds in different marine environmental and biological samples collected in this area (seawater samples, sediments and biological tissues of four different marine species). The results obtained in this work showed toxic TBT levels for many marine species in 45% of the seawater samples analyzed whereas significant organotin concentrations were found to be obtained only in one of the sediments analyzed. On the other hand, TBT levels ranging from 20 to almost 200 ng g− 1 (dry weight) were obtained in the different biological tissues analyzed demonstrating the bioaccumulation of organotin compounds in certain marine species. 相似文献

Analytical methods have been developed for the quantitative determination of Bu4Sn, Bu3Sn+, Bu2Sn2+, BuSn3+, Me3BuSn, Me2Bu2Sn, MeBu3Sn, MeBuSn2+, Me2BuSn+ and MeBu2Sn+ in water. Organotin compounds are extracted from water with tropolone at 0.1 % in n-pentane, derivatized with n-pentylmagnesium bromide and determined by gas chromatography with flame photometric detection or flame ionization detection. Absolute detection limits are 0.05-0.12 ng and 1.2-13 ng as tin, respectively. The method was applied to the analysis of spiked tap-water containing 0.3-1000 ng cm?3 of each of the organotin compounds. 相似文献

The optimization and application of gas chromatograph coupled with inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (GC-ICPMS) (equipped with a commercially available interface) for the speciation of butyltin compounds in freshwater origin sediment and mussel samples is described. Optimization focused on the system parameters that have the greatest effect on signal intensity such as plasma power, ion lenses and make up gas flow (in the interface). Xenon (Xe) containing argon gas (Ar) was applied as tuning gas providing continuous Xe signal for the optimization of system parameters. It was found that plasma power and make up gas are interrelated variables and provide a set of paired optimum values at each power settings. The absolute optimum values obtained at 800 W plasma power and 1.2 L min−1 make up gas flow rate when 7 mm sample depth was adjusted. The optimum settings obtained were then checked by means of a test solution (tetraethyltin dissolved in hexane). Same optimum conditions were found when tin (Sn) transient signals were monitored. Detection limits were calculated for the three species using the optimized system parameters. Detection limits are the following: for monobutyltin (MBT) 5.6 ng Sn kg−1, for dibutyltin (DBT) 6.6 ng Sn kg−1 and for tributyltin (TBT) 3.4 ng Sn kg−1 obtained. Determination of the butyltin compounds were carried out by means of species-specific isotope dilution analysis. The spike solution contained all species investigated but with altered isotopic composition. Each species were enriched in their 119Sn isotope. Concentrations found in Hungarian freshwater origin mussel and sediment samples ranged between 19 and 39 ng g−1for MBT, between 1.2 and 6.3 ng g−1 for DBT and between 1.2 and 3.2 ng g−1 for TBT indicated as Sn in dry weight. Validation of the method was done by means of certified reference materials (BCR CRM 646 and 477). Good agreement was found between certified and experimental values. Normalized deviation (En) was also computed in order to validate the method used. En values obtained ranged between 0.07 and 0.11 for mussel samples and between 0.26 and 0.72 for sediment samples. These values show that isotope dilution-GC-ICPMS methodology is valid for the determination of MBT, DBT and TBT from both types of matrices. 相似文献

The performance of solid-phase microextraction (SPME) applied to the determination of butyltin compounds in sediment samples is systematically evaluated. Matrix effects and influence of blank signals on the detection limits of the method are studied in detail. The interval of linear response is also evaluated in order to assess the applicability of the method to sediments polluted with butyltin compounds over a large range of concentrations. Advantages and drawbacks of including an SPME step, instead of the classic liquid–liquid extraction of the derivatized analytes, in the determination of butyltin compounds in sediment samples are considered in terms of achieved detection limits and experimental effort. Analytes were extracted from the samples by sonication using glacial acetic acid. An aliquot of the centrifuged extract was placed on a vial where compounds were ethylated and concentrated on a PDMS fiber using the headspace mode. Determinations were carried out using GC-MIP AED. 相似文献

A modified method for the determination of tributyl-, dibutyl-, and monobutyl-tin in fish and sediment samples is proposed. The samples are digested with hydrochloric acid and the butyltin compounds are extracted into a tropolone solution in pentane and pentylated by a Grignard reaction. The products are cleaned up by washing with a sodium hyrdoxide solution, dried over sodium sulphate, concentrated by evaporation and analysed by gas chromatography with flame photometric detection, using an interence filter at 610 nm. Problems peculiar to the fish and sediment samples are overcome by this improved clean-up procedure. The limit of detection for tributyltin in fish is 0.04 m?g g?1 and the reproducibility at 0.06 μg g?1, expressed as the relative standard deviation, is 6.8%. Contaminated sediment samples were found to contain the mixed methylbutyl-tin compounds Me2BuSn+ and MeBu2Sn+. 相似文献

A method for the separation of tetrachloroplatinate PtCl42−, and hexachloroplatinate PtCl62−, by solid-phase extraction, using a Dowex 1 × 10 anion exchange resin is proposed. The sequential elution and separation of PtCl42−, and PtCl62− is achieved using selective complexing agents. The eluates, containing Pt(II) and Pt(IV) were analyzed by inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectroscopy (ICP-AES). Recoveries of 102% for PtCl42− and 94% for PtCl62− and detection limit of 15 ng g−1 were achieved. Using this method determination of Pt(II) and Pt(IV) in soil samples, spiked with different platinum species was performed. The comparison with GFAAS determination showed a very good agreement. 相似文献

A method based on headspace single drop microextraction (HS-SDME) in combination with gas chromatography-inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (GC-ICP-MS) was proposed for the speciation analysis of butyltin compounds in environmental and biological samples. The sodium tetraethylborate (NaBEt4) and sodium tetrahydroborate (NaBH4) were used as the derivatizing reagent for in situ derivatization of the butyltins. For the two derivatizations, the HS-SDME parameters such as organic solvent, drop volume, sample pH, stirring rate, temperature, extraction time and the ionic strength were examined systematically. The analytical performance including the linearity ranges, limits of detection (LODs) and reproducibilities of the two derivatizations were compared under the respective optimized conditions. Derivatization with NaBEt(4) proved to be more sensitive and robust than that with NaBH4, leading to the LODs of 1.4 ng/L for MBT, 1.8 ng/L for DBT and 0.8 ng/L for TBT. The reproducibilities, expressed as relative standard deviations (RSDs), were in the range of 1.1-5.3% (c=1 microg/L, n=3). With tripropyltin (TPrT) as internal standard, HS-SDME-GC-ICP-MS with NaBEt(4) derivatization was applied for the speciation analysis of butyltins in real seawater and shellfish samples. The butyltins found in the real-world samples are 31ng/L MBT, 79 ng/L DBT and 32 ng/L TBT for seawater, and 11.6-30.4 ng/g MBT, 11.8-8.9 ng/g DBT and 12.8-52.6 ng/g TBT for different shellfish samples. For validation, the developed method was also employed for the speciation analysis of butyltins in certified reference material (CRM) of PACS-2 sediment, and the determined values are in a good agreement with the certified values. The developed method is simple, rapid, sensitive, and cost-effective and provides an attractive alternative for butyltins speciation in biological and environmental samples with complex matrix. 相似文献

Experiments for the determination of mono-, di and tri-butyltin (MBT, DBT and TBT) by hydride generation/gas chromatography/atomic absorption spectrometry in various matrices (sediment, suspended matter, mussel, algae and water) have revealed that poor butyltin recoveries are obtained in sediments displaying high sulphur and hydrocarbon contents; very poor recoveries were also observed for TBT in sediments with high chlorophyll pigment contents as well as in algal samples. It was however not clear whether the hydride generatin was inhibited by these infering compounds, as was previously assumed in the case of hydrocarbons, or whether interferences affected the atomization rate. Further studies were performed to solve this problem in order to validate this method in the case of analyses of, for example, oil-contaminated sediment and algae. This paper presents the results obtained. It is concluded here that the poor recoveries were due to an inhibition of hydride generation rather than to interference at the atomization stage. 相似文献

Speciation of arsenic in ground water samples: A comparative study of CE-UV, HG-AAS and LC-ICP-MS 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
The performance of capillary electrophoresis-ultraviolet detector (CE-UV), hydride generation-atomic absorption spectrometry (HG-AAS) and liquid chromatography-inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (LC-ICP-MS) have been compared for the speciation of arsenic (As) in groundwater samples. Two inorganic As species, arsenite (AsIII), arsenate (AsV) and one organo species dimethyl arsenic acid (DMA) were mainly considered for this study as these are known to be predominant in water. Under optimal analytical conditions, limits of detection (LD) ranging from 0.10 (AsIII, AsT) to 0.19 (DMA) μg/l for HG-AAS, 100 (AsIII, DMA) to 500 (AsV) μg/l for CE-UV and 0.1 (DMA, MMA) to 0.2 (AsIII, AsV) μg/l for LC-ICP-MS, allowed the determination of the above three species present in these samples. Results obtained by all the three methods are well correlated (r2 = 0.996*** for total As) with the precision of <5% R.S.D. except CE-UV. The effect of interfering ions (e.g. Fe2+, Fe3+, SO42− and Cl−) commonly found in ground water on separation and estimation of As species were studied and corrected for. Spike recovery was tested and found to be 80-110% at 0.5 μg/l As standard except CE-UV where only 50% of the analyte was recovered. Comparison of these results shows that LC-ICP-MS is the best choice for routine analysis of As species in ground water samples. 相似文献

Determination of tributyltin concentrations in water at low levels (0.1–1 ppt) is possible with the hydride generation/gas chromatographic separation/atomic absorption spectrophotometric method. This technique can easily be adapted for the determination of arsenic and methylated arsenic species. Arsenic (III) and arsenic (V) can be separated by selective coprecipitation with dibenzyldithiocarbamate. 相似文献

The collison-induced dissociation of a range of organotin compounds has been examined by tandem (MS–MS) mass spectrometry in order to investigate the potential of the technique for speciation without prior chromatographic separation. Tables of parent–daughte ion relationships are prepared for a group of six closely related compounds. The results obtained are sufficiently characteristic to distinguish between the isolated compounds and to identify the individual components of a simple mixture. This procedure has potential applications for less volatile compounds and for quantitative analysis. 相似文献
