Backward wave oscillations are easy occurred in high power helix millimeter wave traveling wave tubes (MMW TWT’s), owing to larger ka value and higher operating voltage. The start current of backward wave is calculated for helix TWT in Ka band. It is shown that start current will increase by used a tapered helix. Backward wave oscillations can be suppressed in tube. The design method of the tapered helix is given in this paper.  相似文献

The characteristics of two kinds of bifilar helix circuit are discussed in this paper. One is alike wound bifilar helix and another is contrawound bifilar helix. Alike wound bifilar helix is often used in O-type backward wave tube (BWO). Owing to wider operating bandwidth, higher interaction impedance and large dimensions, the contrawound helix is suitable for broadband millimeter wave traveling wave tube (MMW TWT).  相似文献

The efficiency enhancement methods for helix and coupled cavity traveling wave tube (TWT) in millimeter wave (MMW) are described. The interaction efficiency has been reached 14.56% by dynamic velocity taper in Ka-band TWT. Efficiency improvement has been carried out by used copper helix for broadband MMW TWT. Owing to a ferruleless coupled cavity TWT used phase-adjusted taper, the interaction efficiency has been increased from 9.6 to 22.6%. Finally, enhancing collector efficiency used multistage depressed collectors is discussed in the paper. These concept and technology of the approach are very useful for tube designer.  相似文献

In millimeter wave band, interaction impedance and efficiency of the ring-bar circuit are higher than helix. Ring-bar traveling wave tubes (TWTs) do not easy yield backward wave oscillation at high operating voltages. Thus ring-bar TWTs can reach higher power lever. On basic of computation of dispersion and interaction impedance, a fast estimation models of RF parameters for MMW ring-bar TWTs are given in this paper. A computation technique for gain, efficiency and output power in broadband millimeter wave helix TWTs from their dimensions is described. The computed results by modeling are good agreement with experimental measurements. It is shown that the method is fast and useful accuracy. An accurate and simple closed-form formula, for backward-wave start-oscillation condition for a millimeter-wave helix traveling-wave tube amplifier was developed, using an artificial neural network (ANN) algorithm. The analysis considers the effects of circuit loss and also the variation of electron beam diameter corresponding to beam filling. The formula is simple and amenable to easy computation, even using a scientific calculator, and without resorting to exhaustive numerical iterative search followed in conventional analyses and, at the same time, without sacrificing the accuracy in results. The formula was validated against published results, and excellent accuracy was observed. The analysis has been further used for inferring some physical interpretations on the effects of beam-filling factor and circuit loss on the start-oscillation condition of a typical millimeter-wave helix traveling-wave tube.  相似文献

In millimeter wave range, high-power traveling wave tube (TWT) is a key device with broadband and high-power amplification. Basis of comparing traditional and new type slow wave circuits for high-power TWT in MMW, analysis and computation of propagating and RF performance for folded wave circuit are carried out. Theoretic calculation and experimental test show that folded wave circuit is an ideal slow wave structure for broadband and high-power TWT in MMW. There is extreme wide application for the circuit in high-power TWT. This development possesses important consult value to designer for MMW power amplifiers.  相似文献

The pill-box and block RF windows for millimeter wave (MMW) tubes are presented. The pill-box window is suitable for broadband MMW tubes. And the block window can be used for high power tubes in short MMW. The equivalent circuits for two windows are given. To reach better match characteristics in wider operating bandwidth, the optimum design methods for pill-box and block window in MMW tubes are described in this paper. The testing results show that the theoretic computation is fast and useful accuracy. The design methods possess references value to designer for MMW tubes.  相似文献

In this paper, the frequency selective reflection characteristics of dielectric periodic structures with arbitrary groove profiles are analyzed by a method which combines the multimode network theory with the rigorous mode matching procedure. Emphasis is placed on the discussion about the effect of the different groove profiles, such as rectangle, trapezoid, increasing cosine and triangle, on the reflection characteristics of the millimeter wave (MMW) frequency selective surface (FSS). Some useful guidelines for the design of the MMW dielectric FSS are thus suggested. Moreover, the physical explanation of the related wave phenomenon is given.  相似文献

In experiments exploring effects of millimeter-wave (MMW) irradiation on biological materials where MMW irradiators are used, the electromagnetic wave (EMW) power density (PD) in the vicinity of the irradiators where the biological materials are placed is an important parameter to be considered so as to determine the irradiation dose. The paper provides a practical algorithm to measure the EMW PD in the vicinity of MMW irradiators with relatively high accuracy and precision. Besides theoretically analyzing and designing the measurement algorithm, a computer program aimed at facilitating the computation is provided after solving problems such as applying sampling theorem and Fast Fourier Transform (FFT). The algorithm and the program were fully tested when an experimental measurement of the EMW PD in the vicinity of a typical MMW irradiator was performed.  相似文献

In order to estimate the phase noise of millimetre wave (MMW) phase-locked oscillator (PLO), the phase noise relation of signals in MMW phase-locked loop (PLL) with frequency conversion is analyzed. The signals include output of MMW PLO, intermediate frequency (IF) output of harmonic mixer and output of microwave oscillator serving as local oscillator (LO). A method to estimate the phase noise of MMW PLO is presented, which is based on the phase noise of LO and IF. At the same time, a W-band PLO is achieved, and the phase noise values of the three signals are measured. It is shown that the experimental result is well coincident with the analysis of phase noise relation.  相似文献

A novel model of millimeter-wave (MMW) indoor radio channel is presented in this paper. The model is related the random properties of the MMW radio channel to the underlying geometry of the environment. The geometric simplicity of the MMW channel is allowed examining fundamental deterministic properties of the wave propagation behavior in environments of predefined randomness. The dimensions and properties of environments are described by various probability distributions. Stochastic influence on the radio channel is studied for the down-link of a wireless local area network at 60 GHz. Other related factors, such as amplitudes of path lengths, angles of departure, and amplitudes, as well as spatial power densities, average power of the direct paths are investigated.  相似文献

基于行波管中慢电磁行波的周期传输特性和能流坡印廷定理,考虑高频结构的衰减、切断、螺距的渐变与跳变对互作用的影响,建立了螺旋线行波管三维场论非线性自洽工作方程组.通过傅里叶展式将时域中的电流变换为与频率相关的交流电流分量,采用等离子体粒子模拟的方法,求解离散化的亥姆霍兹方程获得空间电荷场的三维数值解.计算三维电子轨迹,得到精确的互作用后的电子能谱结构,为多级降压收集极的设计提供关键参数.计算结果与电子所Ku波段的测试值比较具有较好的一致性,并分析了互作用后的电子能谱结构,与多级降压收集极的实验基本符合. 关键词: 行波管 非线性注波互作用 空间电荷场 等离子体粒子模拟  相似文献

A novel optical approach is proposed to generate millimeter wave (MMW) pulse signal based on the pulse reshaping of superstructure fiber Bragg grating (SSFBG). In our scheme, one input pico-second Gaussian pulse is transformed into n Gaussian pulses by the SSFBG reshaping firstly, and then the pulse train is replicated to form a required frequency modulation MMW optical pulse envelope by the linear chirped fiber Bragg grating (LCFBG) or other highly dispersive element. The high-speed photodetector (PD) and band-pass filter can transform the MMW optical pulse into an MMW pulse signal ultimately. Depending on this scheme, MMW signals with frequency up to 10 GHz can be easily generated by the completed fiber components.  相似文献

Phase noise is an important index in evaluating the performance of millimeter wave (MMW) frequency source. Because of the high frequency, it is difficult to measure its phase noise directly. So it is very necessary to find new methods for estimating it effectively and easily. In this paper, the main factors affecting phase noise of MMW PLL frequency source are analyzed, and then a new method to estimate the phase noise is presented, which is based on the comparison of the phase noise of microwave phase-locked frequency source with phase-locked intermediate frequency in MMW phase-locked loop. In order to demonstrate the validity of this method of phase noise estimate, it is applied to estimate the phase noise of 95GHz double PLL frequency synthesizer. The result shows that the theoretical estimate value is well coincident with the experimental value.  相似文献

Four algorithms are developed to help the dosimetry study for experiments on millimeter-wave (MMW) biological effects on cells in vitro with the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method. Their performances in evaluating the MMW irradiation dose are displayed and compared, including the induced current density and the specific absorption rate (SAR), that are distributed over the cell monolayer cultured in Petri dish. With the discussion on individual characteristics of the algorithms, the conclusion is reached that an appropriate algorithm is essential in providing accurate data on the MMW irradiation dose by way of numerical calculation, which should be considered carefully in related experiments.  相似文献

Physical processes in the gyrotron backward-wave oscillator (gyro-BWO) are investigated theoretically. Results indicate highly current-sensitive field profiles and hence sharply contrasting linear and saturated behaviors. The linear field extends over the entire structure length, whereas the saturated profile depends strongly on the energetics in the internal feedback loop. It is shown that this distinctive feature substantially influences the basic properties of the gyro-BWO including the start-oscillation current, efficiency, power scaling, and stability of tuning.  相似文献
