In order to show the influence of temperature on the liquid-liquid equilibria (LLE) of {methanol (1) + benzene (2) + hexane (3)} ternary system, equilibrium data at T = (278.15, 283.15, and 293.15) K are reported. The effect of the temperature on liquid-liquid equilibrium is determined and discussed. Ternary system is available from the literature at T = 298 K. All chemicals were quantified by gas chromatography using a thermal conductivity detector. The solubility data for methanol + hexane and the upper critical temperature (UCST) at 308.3 K was reported. The tie line data for the ternary system were satisfactorily correlated by the Othmer and Tobias method, and the plait point coordinates for the three temperatures were estimated. Experimental data for the ternary system are compared with values calculated by the NRTL and UNIQUAC equations, and predicted by means of the UNIFAC group contribution method. It is found that the UNIQUAC and NRTL models provide similar good correlations of the equilibrium data at these three temperatures. Finally, the UNIFAC model predicts an immiscibility region larger than the experimental observed. Distribution coefficients were also analysed through distribution curves.  相似文献

Tie line data of the ternary system {methanol + isooctane + cyclohexane} were obtained at T = 303.15 K. A quaternary system containing these three compounds and benzene was also studied at the same temperature, while data for {methanol + benzene + cyclohexane} and {methanol + benzene + isooctane} were taken from literature. In order to obtain the binodal surface of the quaternary system, four quaternary sectional planes with several cyclohexane/isooctane ratios were studied. The distribution of benzene between both phases was also analysed. Ternary experimental results were correlated with the UNIQUAC and NRTL equations and compared with predictions using the UNIFAC group contribution method.  相似文献

(Liquid + liquid) equilibrium (LLE) data for ternary system {heptane (1) + m-xylene (2) + N-formylmorpholine (3)} have been determined experimentally at temperatures ranging from 298.15 K to 353.15 K. Complete phase diagrams were obtained by determining solubility and tie-line data. Tie-line compositions were correlated by Othmer-Tobias and Bachman methods. The universal quasichemical activity coefficient (UNIQUAC) and The non-random two liquids equation (NRTL) were used to correlate the phase equilibrium in the system using the interaction parameters determined from experimental data. It is found that UNIQUAC and NRTL used for LLE could provide a good correlation. Distribution coefficients, separation factors, and selectivity were evaluated for the immiscibility region.  相似文献

In this work, liquid–liquid equilibrium data were measured for three quinary mixtures (nonane + undecane + benzene + toluene + sulfolane), (nonane + undecane + benzene + m-xylene + sulfolane) and (nonane + undecane + toluene + m-xylene + sulfolane) at 298.15 and 313.15 K and ambient pressure. The experimental LLE data were determined by using a jacketed glass cell with temperature controlled. The quantitative analysis was performed by using a Varian gas chromatograph equipped with a flame ionization detector and a SPB™-1 column. The experimental quinary liquid–liquid equilibrium data have been satisfactorily correlated by using NRTL and UNIFAC-LLE models. The calculated values based on the NRTL model were found to be in a better agreement with the experiment than those based on the UNIFAC-LLE model.  相似文献

Liquid–liquid equilibrium (LLE) data were measured for three quaternary systems containing sulfolane, nonane + undecane + benzene + sulfolane, nonane + undecane + toluene + sulfolane and nonane + undecane + m-xylene + sulfolane, at T = 298.15 and 313.15 K and ambient pressure. The experimental quaternary liquid–liquid equilibrium data have been satisfactorily represented by using NRTL and UNIFAC-LLE models for the activity coefficient. The calculated compositions based on the NRTL model were found to in a better agreement with the experiment than those based on the UNIFAC-LLE model.  相似文献

Liquid–liquid equilibrium (LLE) data of the solubility (binodal) curves and tie-line end compositions were examined for mixtures of {(water (1) + levulinic acid (2) + dimethyl succinate or dimethyl glutarate or dimethyl adipate (3)} at 298.15 K and 101.3 ± 0.7 kPa. The reliability of the experimental tie-line data was confirmed by using the Othmer–Tobias correlation. The LLE data of the ternary systems were predicted by UNIFAC method. The LLE data were correlated fairly well with UNIQUAC and NRTL models, indicating the reliability of the UNIQUAC and NRTL equations for these ternary systems. The best results were achieved with the NRTL equation, using non-randomness parameter (α = 0.3) for the correlation. Distribution coefficients and separation factors were measured to evaluate the extracting capability of the solvents.  相似文献

(Liquid + liquid) equilibrium (LLE) results for the ternary mixtures of (methanol or ethanol + toluene or m-xylene + n-dodecane) at three temperatures (298.15, 303.15 and 313.15) K are reported. The compositions of liquid phases at equilibrium were determined by g.l.c. measurements and the results were correlated with the UNIQUAC and NRTL activity coefficient models. The partition coefficients and the selectivity factor of methanol and ethanol are calculated and compared to suggest which alcohol is more suitable for extracting the aromatic hydrocarbons (toluene or m-xylene) from n-dodecane. The phase diagrams for the ternary mixtures including both the experimental and correlated tie lines are presented. From the phase diagrams and the selectivity factors it is concluded that methanol has a higher efficiency as a solvent in extraction of aromatic hydrocarbon from alkane mixtures.  相似文献

In this paper, the separation of toluene from cycloalkanes by liquid extraction using the ionic liquid 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium ethylsulfate, [EMim][ESO4], as solvent was studied. Liquid-liquid equilibrium (LLE) data for ternary systems {cyclohexane, or cyclooctane, or methylcyclohexane + toluene + [EMim][ESO4]} were determined at T = 298.15 K and atmospheric pressure. Selectivity and solute distribution ratio, derived from the tie-lines, were used to determine the ability of this ionic liquid as solvent for the separation of toluene from its mixtures with cycloalkanes. The degree of consistency of the tie-lines was tested using the Othmer-Tobias equation, and the experimental LLE data were correlated using the non-random two-liquid (NRTL) and the UNIversal QUAsi-Chemical (UNIQUAC) models.  相似文献

(Liquid + liquid) equilibrium data are presented for four ternary systems of an alkane, or aromatic compound and ethyl(2-hydroxyethyl)dimethylammonium bis{(trifluomethyl)sulfonyl}imide (C2NTf2) at 298.15 K: [hexane + benzene + C2NTf2], [hexane + p-xylene + C2NTf2], and [hexane, or octane + m-xylene + C2NTf2]. The separation of aromatic hydrocarbons (benzene, or p-xylene, or m-xylene) from aliphatic hydrocarbons (hexane, or octane) is investigated by extraction with the ammonium ionic liquid. Selectivities and distribution ratios are discussed for these mixtures at constant temperature. The data were analysed and compared to those previously reported for other ionic liquids and especially for the system {hexane + benzene + [EMIM][NTf2]}. The nonrandom two liquid NRTL model was successfully used to correlate the experimental tie-lines and to calculate the phase compositions of the ternary systems.  相似文献

Isothermal vapor-liquid equilibrium data at 333.15 K are reported for the ternary systems {di-methyl carbonate (DMC) + ethanol + benzene} and {DMC + ethanol + toluene} as determined with headspace gas chromatography. The experimental ternary vapor-liquid equilibrium (VLE) data were correlated with different activity coefficient models. The excess volume (VE) and deviations in molar refractivity (ΔR) data are reported for the binary systems {DMC + benzene} and {DMC + toluene} and also for the ternary systems {DMC + ethanol + benzene} and {DMC + ethanol + toluene} at 298.15 K. These VE and ΔR data were correlated with the Redlich-Kister equation for binary systems and the Cibulka equation for ternary systems.  相似文献

Isobaric vapor-liquid equilibrium (VLE) data for acetic acid + water, acetic acid + n-propyl acetate, acetic acid + iso-butyl acetate, acetic acid + water + n-propyl acetate, acetic acid + water + iso-butyl acetate are measured at 101.33 kPa with a modified Rose still. The nonideal behavior in vapor phase caused by the association of acetic acid are corrected by the chemical theory and Hayden-O’Connell method, and analyzed by calculating the second virial coefficients and apparent fugacity coefficients. The VLE data for acetic acid + water, acetic acid + n-propyl acetate, and acetic acid + iso-butyl acetate are correlated through the NRTL and UNIQUAC models using the nonlinear least square method. The obtained NRTL model parameters are used to predict the ternary VLE data. The ternary predicted values obtained in this way agree well with the experimental values.  相似文献

(Liquid + liquid) equilibrium (LLE) data for the ternary system of (water + butyric acid + oleyl alcohol) at T = (298.15, 308.15, and 318.15) K are reported. Complete phase diagrams were obtained by determining solubility and the tie-line data. The reliability of the experimental tie lines was confirmed by using Othmer-Tobias correlation. The UNIFAC method was used to predict the phase equilibrium data. The phase diagrams for the ternary mixtures including both the experimental and correlated tie lines are presented. Distribution coefficients and separation factors were evaluated for the immiscibility region. A comparison of the solvent extracting capability was made with respect to distribution coefficients, separation factors, and solvent-free selectivity bases for T = (298.15, 308.15, and 318.15) K. It is concluded that oleyl alcohol may serve as an adequate solvent to extract butyric acid from its dilute aqueous solutions.  相似文献

Tie-line data for ternary systems of (ethylene glycol + toluene + n-octane) at three temperatures (295.15, 301.15, and 307.15) K are reported. The compositions of liquid phases at equilibrium were determined and the results were correlated with the UNIQUAC and NRTL activity coefficient models. The partition coefficients and the selectivity factor of ethylene glycol are calculated and compared to suggest which ethylene glycol is more suitable for extracting of toluene from n-octane. The phase diagrams for the studied ternary mixtures including both the experimental and correlated tie lines are presented. From the phase diagrams and the selectivity factors, it is concluded that ethylene glycol may be used as a suitable solvent in extraction of toluene from n-octane mixtures.  相似文献

Liquid-liquid equilibrium (LLE) data of the solubility (binodal) curves and tie-line end compositions were examined for mixtures of {(water (1) + butyric acid (2) + diethyl succinate or diethyl glutarate or diethyl adipate (3)} at 298.2 K and 101.3 ± 0.7 kPa. The relative mutual solubility of butyric acid is higher in the diethyl succinate or diethyl glutarate or diethyl adipate layers than water layers. The consistency of the experimental tie-lines was determined through the Othmer-Tobias correlation equation. The LLE data were correlated with NRTL model, indicating the reliability of the NRTL equations for these ternary systems. The best results were achieved with the NRTL equation, using non-randomness parameter (α = 0.3) for the correlation. Distribution coefficients and separation factors were measured to evaluate the extracting capability of the solvents.  相似文献

Liquid–liquid equilibrium data, both binodal and tie lines are presented for the pseudo-ternary systems: {(sulfolane + 2-ethoxyethano) (1) + octane (2) + toluene (3)} at 293.15 K. The experimental liquid–liquid equilibrium data have been correlated using NRTL and UNIQUAC models, and the binary interaction parameters of these components have been presented. The correlated tie lines have been compared with the experimental data. The comparisons indicate that both NRTL and UNIQUAC models satisfactorily correlated the equilibrium compositions. The tie-line data of the studied systems also were correlated using the Hand method.  相似文献

Consistent vapour–liquid equilibrium data for the ternary systems diisopropyl ether + isopropyl alcohol + 2,2,4-trimethylpentane and diisopropyl ether + isopropyl alcohol + n-heptane are reported at 101.3 kPa. The vapour–liquid equilibrium data have been correlated by Wilson, NRTL and UNIQUAC equations. The ternary systems do not present ternary azeotropes.  相似文献

The vapour pressures of the binary systems 1,2-dichloroethane + cyclohexanone, chloroform + cyclopentanone and chloroform + cyclohexanone mixtures were measured at temperatures between 298.15 and 318.15 K. The vapour pressures vs. liquid phase composition data for three isotherms have been used to calculate the activity coefficients of the two components and the excess molar Gibbs energies, GE, for these mixtures, using Barker's method. Redlich–Kister, Wilson, NRTL and UNIQUAC equations, taking into account the vapour phase imperfection in terms of the 2-nd virial coefficient, have represented the GE values. No significant difference between GE values obtained with these equations has been observed. Our data on vapour–liquid equilibria (VLE) and excess properties of the studied systems are examined in terms of the DISQUAC and modified UNIFAC (Dortmund) predictive group contributions models.  相似文献

(Liquid + liquid) equilibria and tie lines for the ternary systems of (water + phosphoric acid + 1-butanol) and (water + phosphoric acid + butyl acetate) were measured at T = 308.2 K. The experimental ternary (liquid + liquid) equilibrium data were correlated with the UNIQUAC model. The reliability of the experimental tie lines was confirmed using Othmer-Tobias correlation. The average root-mean-square deviation (RMSD) values of (water + phosphoric acid + 1-butanol) and (water + phosphoric acid + butyl acetate) systems were 2.17% and 2.16%, respectively. Distribution coefficients and separation factors were measured to evaluate the extracting capability of the solvents. The results show that butyl acetate may be considered as a reliable organic solvent for the extraction of phosphoric acid from aqueous solutions.  相似文献

Selectivity factors and partition coefficients of ethylene carbonate and the (ethylene carbonate + sulfolane) solvent mixture for the separation of benzene or toluene from (benzene or toluene + n-heptane) are obtained from the experimental (liquid + liquid) equilibrium data for ternary mixtures of (ethylene carbonate + benzene or toluene + n-heptane) at temperatures of (303.15 and 313.15) K and quaternary mixture of (ethylene carbonate + sulfolane + benzene + n-heptane) at 303.15 K. The composition of liquid phases at equilibrium was determined by gas–liquid chromatography and the results were correlated with the UNIQUAC and NRTL activity coefficient models. The parameters of the models were evaluated and reported. The phase diagrams for the mixtures studied are presented and the correlated tie line results have been compared with the experimental results. The comparisons indicate the applicability of the UNIQUAC and NRTL activity coefficients model for (liquid + liquid) equilibrium calculations of the mixtures studied.  相似文献

The aim of this work is to determine if the ionic liquid 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium ethylsulfate is a good solvent for the separation of xylenes and hexane by liquid extraction. With this purpose, liquid-liquid equilibrium (LLE) data for the ternary systems {hexane + o-xylene, or m-xylene, or p-xylene + 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium ethylsulfate} were determined at T = 298.15 K and atmospheric pressure. Selectivity and solute distribution ratio, derived from the experimental equilibrium data, were calculated and used to determine if this ionic liquid can be used as a potential solvent for the extraction of xylenes from their mixtures with hexane. The experimental LLE data for the ternary systems were correlated using the NRTL and UNIQUAC models.  相似文献
