A compact resonance ionization mass spectrometer is presented. It is presently applied for sensitive and highly selective
ultratrace determination of the long-lived radioisotope 41Ca for environmental, biological, and fundamental investigations. The development of coherent multistep resonance ionization
enables the realization of experimental detection limits as low as106 atoms per sample and very high isotopic selectivity above 1012.

The half-life of41Ca has been redetermined to be (1.01 ±0.10)×105 yr from the specific activity of a sample of enriched calcium material and its41Ca concentration. The activity was measured with a Si(Li) detector via the 3.3-keV X rays emitted in the electron capture decay of41Ca to41K. The41Ca concentration was measured by mass spectrometry. Since our result agrees well with the two most recent half-life measurements of Mabuchi et al. (1974), (1.13±0.12)×105 yr, and Klein et al. (1990), (1.03±0.07)×105 yr, we recommend the weighted mean of these three measurements, t1/2=(1.04±0.05)×105 yr, as the most accurate value of the half-life of41Ca.Dedicated to Prof. Dr. P. Time integral implantation perturbed angular distribution experiments have been carried out for 41,42Ca in Fe. The results point to interstitial implantation with an average hyperfine field of ?34 ± 8 kG in addition to substitutional implantation. The g-factor of the 3.83 MeV, () state in 41Ca has been measured in an external magnetic field and found to be g = +0.32 ± 0.04. 相似文献

The influence of 2p-2h core excitations on the41Sc-41Ca Coulomb energy difference is studied. A simple parametrization of the main wave function components shows that the calculated energy shift could only agree with experiment for rather unrealistic values of the amplitudes. Using an effective interaction appropriate for this region, we find that when this kind of excitations is included, the calculated Coulomb energy shift is increased by 105keV. 相似文献

Atom trap trace analysis, a novel method based upon laser trapping and cooling, is used to count individual atoms of 41Ca present in biomedical samples with isotopic abundance levels between 10(-8) and 10(-10). The method is calibrated against resonance ionization mass spectrometry, demonstrating good agreement between the two methods. The present system has a counting efficiency of 2x10(-7). Within 1 h of observation time, its 3-sigma detection limit on the isotopic abundance of 41Ca reaches 4.5x10(-10). 相似文献

The yield of γ-rays from the reaction 41K(p, γ)42Ca has been measured as a function of bombarding energy over the range 0.68–2.48 MeV and from the reaction 41K(p, αγ)38Ar over the range 1.20–2.48 MeV, and the yield of neutrons from the reaction 41K(p, n)41Ca has been measured from threshold to a bombarding energy of 2.48 MeV. The energy dependence of the cross sections is compared with statistical-model calculations with global optical-model parameters in all particle channels. The calculations seriously overestimate the cross section for the neutron channel and underestimate those for the other channels. A reduction in the imaginary well depth in the neutron channel leads to good agreement with all the data. Statistical-model calculations with this modified set of parameters are then carried out to provide cross sections for the astrophysically interesting reactions 41Ca(n, p)41K, 41Ca(n, α)38Ar, and 41Ca(n, γ)42Ca. Thermonuclear reaction rates are calculated for all six reactions over the temperature range 5 × 108–1010K which includes the range of temperatures of interest in nucleosynthesis calculations. 相似文献

为满足41Ca生物示踪样品测量的需要, 在北京HI-13串列加速器质谱(Accelerator Mass Spectrometry, AMS)系统上建立了以CaF2为靶样的41Ca AMS分析方法.生物样品和41Ca标准样品经过化学分离和纯化, 制备成CaF2作为靶物质. AMS测量41Ca时, 离子源引出CaF3-负离子, 膜剥离后的电荷态选择为7+态, 加速器端电压选定为8.5MV, 用充有140mbar P10气体的多阳极电离室探测41Ca. 结果显示探测器可实现对41Ca与同量异位素干扰41K的分辨, 粒子谱中41K的计数率很低,对41Ca不形成干扰. 对制备的4个标准样品(41Ca/40Ca在1.785×10-8—1.750×10-10范围)的测量结果显示41Ca/40Ca绝对测量值与标称值之间的线性关系良好(r2=0.997),经41Ca/40Ca为1.785×10-8的标准样品归一化后, S2, S4两个标样的测量值与标称值吻合较好, 但标样S3的测量值与标称值有较大偏离. 估计生物样品的41Ca/40Ca本底值低于8.2×10-13. 相似文献

Proton-gamma ray angular correlations are reported for the (d, p) reaction populating levels in41Ca withl n=1. The method differs from previous measurements in that all observed gamma ray transitions from each level of interest are included in the correlation. A spin and parity of 3/2? is deduced for the 1.943, 2.462, 4.187 and 4.604 MeV levels. The results for the 3.944 and 4.753 MeV levels are consistent with a spin and parity assignment of 1/2?. 相似文献

We extracted, from strongly-correlated ab-initio calculations, a
complete model for the chain subsystem of the
Sr0.4Ca13.6Cu24O41 incommensurate compound. A
second neighbor t-J+V model has been determined as a function of the
fourth crystallographic parameter , for both low and room
temperature crystallographic structures. The analysis of the obtained
model shows the crucial importance of the structural modulations on
the electronic structure through the on-site energies and the magnetic
interactions. The structural distortions are characterized by their
long range effect on the cited parameters that hinder the reliability
of analyses such as BVS. One of the most striking results is the
existence of antiferromagnetic nearest-neighbor interactions for
metal-ligand-metal angles of 90. A detailed analysis of the
electron localization and spin arrangement is presented as a function
of the chain to ladder hole transfer and of the temperature. The
obtained spin arrangement is in agreement with antiferromagnetic
correlations in the chain direction at low temperature. 相似文献
