The differential cross section for the inclusive production of isolated prompt photons has been measured as a function of the photon transverse energy E(T)(γ) in pp collisions at √s=7 TeV using data recorded by the CMS detector at the LHC. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 2.9 pb(-1). Photons are required to have a pseudorapidity |η(γ)|<1.45 and E(T)(γ)>21 GeV, covering the kinematic region 0.006相似文献

We have investigated kinematical correlations between the outgoing beam proton and the proton emerging from the fragmentingα-particle in collisions at \(\sqrt {s_{p\alpha } } = 88GeV\) . Strong correlations are seen, indicating the dominance of quasi-elasticpp scattering in the fragmentation channelp+α→p+pX, for the ¦t¦ range 0.05–1.00 (GeV/c)2. A Monte Carlo simulation of this process can explain the observed correlation spectra assuming an admixture of about 16% spectator protons.  相似文献

The contribution of B meson decays to nonphotonic electrons, which are mainly produced by the semileptonic decays of heavy-flavor mesons, in p + p collisions at √s=200 GeV has been measured using azimuthal correlations between nonphotonic electrons and hadrons. The extracted B decay contribution is approximately 50% at a transverse momentum of pT≥5 GeV/c. These measurements constrain the nuclear modification factor for electrons from B and D meson decays. The result indicates that B meson production in heavy ion collisions is also suppressed at high pT.  相似文献

Data from e+e annihilations at 29 GeV have been used to measure the production cross section and fragmentation function of η mesons. The signal is observed in the ηγγ decay channel. The fragmentation for pη>1.5 GeV/c agrees well with the prediction of the Lund model, whereas the prediction of the Webber model lies above the data. The mean multiplicity is measured to be 〈nη〉=0.58±0.10 η mesons per hadronic event, of which 0.51 represents the direct production of η and η′ mesons in the fragmentation chain.  相似文献

We have observed exclusive γγ production in proton-antiproton collisions at √s=1.96 TeV, using data from 1.11±0.07 fb(-1) integrated luminosity taken by the Run II Collider Detector at Fermilab. We selected events with two electromagnetic showers, each with transverse energy E(T)>2.5 GeV and pseudorapidity |η|<1.0, with no other particles detected in -7.4<η<+7.4. The two showers have similar E(T) and azimuthal angle separation Δφ~π; 34 events have two charged particle tracks, consistent with the QED process ppˉ→p+e(+)e(-)+pˉ by two-photon exchange, while 43 events have no charged tracks. The number of these events that are exclusive π(0)π(0) is consistent with zero and is <15 at 95% C.L. The cross section for ppˉ→p+γγ+pˉ with |η(γ)|<1.0 and E(T)(γ)>2.5 GeV is 2.48(-0.35)(+0.40)(stat)(-0.51)(+0.40)(syst) pb.  相似文献

The cross section for the production of Z boson pairs is measured using the data collected by the L3 detector at LEP in 1999 in e+e collisions at centre-of-mass energies ranging from 192 GeV up to 202 GeV. Events in all the visible final states are selected, measuring the cross section of this process. The special case of final states containing b quarks is also investigated. All results are in agreement with the Standard Model predictions.  相似文献

Inclusive π0 and η production at large transverse momentum were studied in both p̄p and pp interactions at √s = 24.3 GeV. The experiment was performed using an internal molecular hydrogen gas jet target in the CERN SPS collider. No significant differences between production in p̄p and pp were observed in the transverse momentum range 2.5 < PT < 5.1 GeV/c.  相似文献

Partonic effects on two-particle transverse momentum correlations are studied for Au+Au collisions at \sqrt{s_{_{\rm NN}}}=130GeV in the Monte Carlo model, AMPT. This study demonstrates that in these collisions partonic interactions contribute significantly to the correlations. Additionally, model calculations are compared with data of the two-particle transverse momentum correlations measured by the STAR Collaboration at RHIC, and it is found that AMPT with string melting can well reproduce the measured centrality dependence of the two-particle transverse momentum correlations in Au+Au collisions at \sqrt{s_{_{\rm NN}}}=130GeV.  相似文献

Charged particle trajectories have been reconstructed in pp collisions triggered by transverse energies (Et) ranging from 1 GeV to 20 GeV. The forward fragmentation function of negative particles in the beam jet is found to scale with Et in variable x=2pL/√sEt, and the slope is near to that found for small jet triggers in an earlier experiment. Above about Et=8 GeV, positive particles scale and for 0.5<x<1.0 the ratio of positives to negatives is 1.73±0.2. The forward fragmentation functions at high Et do not show the behavior expected from the fragmentation of diquarks and are more like that from quarks.Multiplicity and energy flow in various forward polar angle regions are also presented; they are compared to the beam jet predictions of ISAJET and found to be greater at wide angles and less at small.  相似文献

A search for pair production of second-generation scalar leptoquarks in the final state with two muons and two jets is performed using proton-proton collision data at √s = 7 TeV collected by the CMS detector at the LHC. The data sample used corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 34 pb?1. The number of observed events is in good agreement with the predictions from the standard model processes. An upper limit is set on the second-generation leptoquark cross section times β2 as a function of the leptoquark mass, and leptoquarks with masses below 394 GeV are excluded at a 95% confidence level for β = 1, where β is the leptoquark branching fraction into a muon and a quark. These limits are the most stringent to date.  相似文献

mesons have been reconstructed from their decay to positive and negative kaons, using the data obtained from interaction of neutrons at 20–70 GeV with a carbon target collected by EXCHARM experiment at the Serpukhov accelerator. The analysis relies on the use of reconstructing trajectories and particle identification. From about 45 million events (19600 ± 350) mesons were found. The meson mass is measured to be (1019.4 ± 0.1)MeV/c 2; the meson width is measured to be (4.9 ± 0.3)MeV/c 2. The investigation has been performed at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research at the Laboratory of Super High Energies.  相似文献

An experimental analysis of 855 events induced by 14.6 A GeV 28Si in nuclear emulsion is presented. Mean multiplicities of charged secondary particles produced in the nuclear interactions are studied and compared with the results from the other experiments for the same projectile at 3.7 A GeV as well as data for proton at similar energy (14 GeV). An analysis of pseudorapidity densities of target fragments (black and grey particles) is also performed. The behaviour of the KNO scaling law of the multiplicity distribution for shower particles has been examined. In order to accumulate knowledge about the intermittent behaviour of shower particles, the scaled factorial moments (SFMs) are computed in η-space and ?-space for a set of data in the 28Si–AgBr events. Furthermore, validity of limiting fragmentation of shower particles produced in central collision events induced by 28Si-emulsion interactions has been tested. A crude estimation for the energy density of the nuclear matter formed in the central collision events at our energy has been examined.  相似文献

Inclusive production of ±(1385) resonances is studied in \(\bar pp\) interactions at 12 GeV/c. The cross sections for +(1385)+cc and ? are determined to be 251±38 μb and 123±30 μb, respectively. The inclusive spectra are presented as a function of Feynman x, c.m. rapidity and the squared transverse momentump T 2 . Significant differences with the correspondingpp data are found in the longitudinal momentum distributions. The qualitative features of the production can be explained by simple quark ideas.  相似文献

Based on the nonrelativistic QCD factorization approach, O(αsv2) corrections to J/ψ plus ηc production in e+e- annihilation at √s= 10.6 GeV are calculated in this work. The numerical results show that the correction at αsv2 order is only about a few percent of the total theoretical result. This indicates that the perturbative expansions become convergent and that a higher order correction will be smaller. The uncertainties from the long-distance matrix elements, renormalization scale and the measurement in the experiment are also discussed. Our result is in agreement with the previous result by Jia.  相似文献

The longitudinal spin transfer D LL of Λ and $\bar \Lambda$ hyperons is expected to be sensitive to the helicity distribution function of strange (anti-)quarks, and to the polarized fragmentation functions. We report new results on D LL , extracted from √s = 200 GeV polarized pp collisions recorded at the STAR detector during the 2009 RHIC run. These new results cover mid-rapidity |η| < 1.2, with extended p T up to 6 GeV/c.  相似文献

We present a search for pair production of doubly charged Higgs bosons in the processes qqˉ→H(++)H(--) decaying through H(±±)→τ(±)τ(±),μ(±)τ(±),μ(±)μ(±). The search is performed in ppˉ collisions at a center-of-mass energy of √s = 1.96 TeV using an integrated luminosity of up to 7.0 fb(-1) collected by the D0 experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. The results are used to set 95% C.L. limits on the pair production cross section of doubly charged Higgs bosons and on their mass for different H(±±) branching fractions. Models predicting different H(±±) decays are investigated. Assuming B(H(±±)→τ(±)τ(±))=1 yields an observed (expected) lower limit on the mass of a left-handed H(L)(±±) boson of 128 (116) GeV and assuming B(H(±±)→μ(±)τ(±))=1 the corresponding limits are 144 (149) GeV. In a model with B(H(±±)→τ(±)τ(±))=B(H(±±)→μ(±)τ(±))=B(H(±±)→μ(±)μ(±))=1/3, we obtain M(H(L)(±±))>130 (138) GeV.  相似文献
