We construct a local interacting quantum dimer model on the square lattice, whose zero-temperature phase diagram is characterized by a line of critical points separating two ordered phases of the valence bond crystal type. On one side, the line of critical points terminates in a quantum transition inherited from a Kosterlitz-Thouless transition in an associated classical model. We also discuss the effect of a longer-range dimer interaction that can be used to suppress the line of critical points by gradually shrinking it to a single point. Finally, we propose a way to generalize the quantum Hamiltonian to a dilute dimer model in presence of monomers and we qualitatively discuss the phase diagram.  相似文献

A self-consistent harmonic approximation is used to study the Kosterlitz–Thouless phase transition and the quantum phase transition at T=0 K in the two-dimensional anisotropic quantum XY model.  相似文献

The unbinding of vortex-antivortex pairs for the classical two-dimensional XY model in a magnetic field is studied. A single such pair is connected by a string of overturned spins, leading to linear confinement. We show that this system supports two phase transitions, one in which closed strings proliferate, and a second in which vortices unbind. The transitions are shown to be dual to one another, and are remarkably continuous. Possible consequences for a variety of systems are discussed.  相似文献

Valley-polarized quantum Hall states in graphene are described by a Heisenberg O(3) ferromagnet model, with the ordering type controlled by the strength and the sign of the valley anisotropy. A mechanism resulting from electron coupling to the strain-induced gauge field, giving a leading contribution to the anisotropy, is described in terms of an effective random magnetic field aligned with the ferromagnet z axis. We argue that such a random field stabilizes the XY ferromagnet state, which is a coherent equal-weight mixture of the K and K' valley states. The implications such as the Berezinskii-Kosterlitz-Thouless ordering transition and topological defects with half-integer charge are discussed.  相似文献

We investigate the role of quantum correlation around the quantum phase transitions by using quantum renormalization group theory. Numerical analysis indicates that quantum correlation as well as quantum nonlocality can efficiently detect the quantum critical point in the two-dimensional XY systems. The nonanalytic behavior of the first derivative of quantum correlation is observed at the critical point as the size of the model increases. Furthermore, we discuss the quantum correlation distribution in this system based on the square of concurrence(SC) and square of quantum discord(SQD). The monogamous properties of SC and SQD are obtained. Particularly, we prove that the quantum critical point can also be achieved by monogamy score.  相似文献

In this paper we study the dynamics of the two-dimensional XY model with single-ion anisotropy, and spin S = 1, in the large D phase, and low temperatures, using the bond operator formalism. The in-plane structure factor is a delta function. The out of plane shows a three peak structure, which merges in a single peak at the Brillouin zone boundary. We analyze also spin currents generated by a magnetic field gradient. The spin conductivity is calculated, at finite temperature, using the Kubo formula. The model shows unconventional ballistic spin transport at finite temperature. The computed spin conductivity exhibits a nonzero Drude weight at finite temperature. For ω< 2m, where m is the energy gap, the spin conductivity is described solely by the Drude weight. There is a regular contribution to the spin conductivity for ω> 2m, which persist in the zero temperature limit. The conductivity at the critical point, and for small frequencies, is (gμB)2/ħ times a universal scaling function of ħω/kB T.  相似文献

The uniformly frustrated XY model with f=1/3 on a dice lattice is shown to possess an accidental degeneracy of its ground states so well developed that the difference between the free energies of fluctuations does not lead to the stabilization of a particular vortex pattern down to zero temperature. Nonetheless, at low temperatures the system is characterized by a finite helicity modulus whose vanishing (at a finite temperature) is related to the dissociation of half-vortex pairs.  相似文献

We study the relationship between the behavior of global quantum correlations and quantum phase transitions in XY model. We find that the two kinds of phase transitions in the studied model can be characterized by the features of global quantum discord (GQD) and the corresponding quantum correlations. We demonstrate that the maximum of the sum of all the nearest neighbor bipartite GQDs is effective and accurate for signaling the Ising quantum phase transition, in contrast, the sudden change of GQD is very suitable for characterizing another phase transition in the XY model. This may shed lights on the study of properties of quantum correlations in different quantum phases.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the phonon dynamics of the one dimensional quantum XY model coupled to phonons, using two different approaches: a low temperature approximation for the memory function, and the perturbation expansion in the Green function formalism. We show that at least to the lowest order in the calculation, both methods give the same result for the dynamic phonon correlation function.  相似文献
