In this paper we present an experimental study on the dynamic stability of suspended oil droplets such as those found in suspension polymerization processes. The system used in the present study was a mixture of ethylbenzene and 1,2-dichloroethane as a substitute for vinyl chloride monomer. The suspending agents included hydroxylpropyl methylcellulose and polyvinyl alcohol and their blends. We have measured the interfacial tension and the dynamic interfacial properties, such as shear viscosity and shear modulus or ridigity at the oil-water interfaces containing suspending agents in order to examine their effects on the droplet dynamic stability. It is concluded that the dynamic interfacial properties, and not the equilibrium interfacial tension, are the controlling parameters in droplet dynamic stability.  相似文献

Isotherms of the binding of dodecyl sulfate anions (DDS)and Na+ counterions during their coadsorption with a nonionic polymer. proxanol (PR). at the interface of dodecane-water emulsions have been measured by conductometry and Na-selective potentiometry. The adsorption of DDS and PR is concurrent. The affinity constant of PR to the interface determined by the Langmuir model decreases as the concentration of PR increases, and the surface concentration of DDS tends to a nonzero limiting value at high concentrations of PR. The surface (o) and electrokinetic () potentials at the interface have been determined at various polymer concentrations by the spin probe and electrophoresis methods. The average dielectric permeability and density of polymer segments in We adsorption layer have been determined by ESR. The lower boundary of the hydrodynamic thickness of the polymer adsorption layer at the interface has been estimated from the dependences of o and on the ionic strength.Translated fromIzvestiya Akademii Nauk. Dispersive liquid—liquid microextraction coupled with high-performance liquid chromatography—diode-array detection was applied for the extraction and determination of 11 priority pollutant phenols in wastewater samples. The analytes were extracted from a 5-mL sample solution using a mixture of carbon disulfide as the extraction solvent and acetone as the dispersive solvent. After extraction, solvent exchange was carried out by evaporating the solvent and then reconstituting the residue in a mixture of methanol–water (30:70). The influences of different experimental dispersive liquid—liquid microextraction parameters such as extraction solvent type, dispersive solvent type, extraction and dispersive solvent volume, salt addition, and pH were studied. Under optimal conditions, namely pH 2, 165-μL extraction solvent volume, 2.50-mL dispersive solvent volume, and no salt addition, enrichment factors and limits of detection ranged over 30–373 and 0.01–1.3 μg/L, respectively. The relative standard deviation for spiked wastewater samples at 10 μg/L of each phenol ranged between 4.3 and 19.3% (n = 5). The relative recovery for wastewater samples at a spiked level of 10 μg/L varied from 65.5 to 108.3%.  相似文献

The modified NRTL model proposed in the previous paper [Y.-T., Wu, D.-Q. Lin, Z.-Q. Zhu, L.-H. Mei, Fluid Phase Equilibria 124 (1996) 67–79.] is further extended to include the effect of partial dissociation of salts in polyethylene glycol (PEG)–salt aqueous two-phase systems (ATPS), and is used to calculate the liquid–liquid equilibrium phase diagrams such as PEG–(NH4)2SO4 and PEG–MgSO4 ATPS. The phase diagrams of PEG–uni-bivalent salt ATPS can be correctly represented in the cases of both complete dissociation and partial dissociation of the salt, while those of PEG–MgSO4 ATPS can only be described in the case of partial dissociation of the salt. The analysis shows that the salts may have different existing states in the ATPS. The effect of partial dissociation of the salts on the phase diagrams should be considered, especially for systems such as PEG–MgSO4 ATPS.  相似文献

Dispersive liquid–liquid microextraction (DLLME) has become a very popular environmentally benign sample-preparation technique, because it is fast, inexpensive, easy to operate with a high enrichment factor and consumes low volume of organic solvent. DLLME is a modified solvent extraction method in which acceptor-to-donor phase ratio is greatly reduced compared with other methods. In this review, in order to encourage further development of DLLME, its combination with different analytical techniques such as gas chromatography (GC), high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES) and electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry (ET AAS) will be discussed. Also, its applications in conjunction with different extraction techniques such as solid-phase extraction (SPE), solidification of floating organic drop (SFO) and supercritical fluid extraction (SFE) are summarized. This review focuses on the extra steps in sample preparation for application of DLLME in different matrixes such as food, biological fluids and solid samples. Further, the recent developments in DLLME are presented. DLLME does have some limitations, which will also be discussed in detail. Finally, an outlook on the future of the technique will be given.  相似文献

The modified lattice-gas model is used to construct the model and the concentration profiles of the liquid—vapor for spherical drops of different size. A monotonic character of the temperature dependence of the width of the transition layer between the liquid and the vapor is demonstrated. The dependence of the surface tension on the drop size was studied. The calculation was carried out in the quasichemical approximation, which takes into account the correlation effects of the neighboring interacting molecules. The results are in qualitative agreement with earlier density functional theory calculations and calculations by the van der Waals theory of capillarity. The numerical analysis of the molecular model of the spherical drop gives two types of solution, which correspond to equilibrium and metastasble states of the drop.  相似文献

In this article, the mesoscopic simulation method dissipative particle dynamics (DPD) is applied to study the dynamics of polymer–solvent liquid–liquid phase separation. It will be shown that the degree of branching has a pronounced effect on the radius of gyration and the centre of mass diffusion of the polymer. Based on the simulation results it can be concluded that the difference in chemical potential between the mixed and the demixed state is the main driving force behind the centre of mass diffusion (and thus phase separation), rather than the reduced radius of gyration due to to polymer chain collapse.  相似文献

Radiolysis of pure liquid n-hexadecane under vacuum has been studied to obtain greater understanding about the effect of radiation on open chain polymers such as polyethylene. Gas chromatography, gel permeation chromatography and mass spectrometry have been used to analyze the radiolysis products and their yields have been determined. The gas products mainly contain H2, the condensed products contain saturated and unsaturated scission products, hexadecene and crosslink products. Mass analysis of the condensed products shows unsaturations in the crosslink products.  相似文献

A liquid—liquid—solid separation procedure wherein a water—oil—coal—mineral matter slurry is allowed to come to equilibrium through mechanical agitation has for many years been applied to the separation of coal from mineral matter. The product is a black “cottage cheese”-like mass of agglomerated coal particles and oil suspended in the excess water which supports the dispersed mineral matter particles. A liquid “bridge” model was proposed by earlier investigators which is reviewed critically and used to estimate the free energy per unit area of the separation of coals of different ranks. Observations of the kinetics of the process suggest that the simple liquid “bridge” model is insufficient, probably due to the heterogeneous surfaces of the coal. Phase separation of gas–liquid and liquid–liquid microflows in microchannels were examined and characterized by interfacial pressure balance. We considered the conditions of the phase separation, where the phase separation requires a single phase flow in each output of the microchannel. As the interfacial pressure, we considered the pressure difference between the two phases due to pressure loss in each phase and the Laplace pressure generated by the interfacial tension at the interface between the separated phases. When the pressure difference between the two phases is balanced by the Laplace pressure, the contact line between the two phases is static. Since the contact angle characterizing the Laplace pressure is restricted to values between the advancing and receding contact angles, the Laplace pressure has a limit. When the pressure difference between the two phases exceeds the limiting Laplace pressure, one of the phases leaks into the output channel of the other phase, and the phase separation fails. In order to experimentally verify this physical picture, microchips were used having a width of 215 μm and a depth of 34 μm for the liquid–liquid microflows, a width of 100 μm and a depth of 45 μm for the gas–liquid microflows. The experimental results of the liquid–liquid microflows agreed well with the model whilst that of the gas–liquid microflows did not agree with the model because of the compressive properties of the gas phase and evaporation of the liquid phase. The model is useful for general liquid–liquid microflows in continuous flow chemical processing.  相似文献

Surfactants play an important role in the emulsion liquid membrane (henceforth ELM) process. However, only two commercial surfactants have been used so far, Span 80 and polyamine. Relatively little attention has been spent in searching for other suitable surfactants. In order to develop new surfactants for the ELM process, in this study a series of derivatives of glutamic acid dialkyl esters and dialkyl-type quaternary ammonium salts were synthesized. Copper extraction by ELM was carried out in a stirred cell using these surfactants. It was found that glutamic acid dioleyl ester was a more suitable surfactant for the ELM process than Span 80 and polyamine as regards break-up, swelling and demulsification of the W/O emulsion, and enrichment of copper.  相似文献

A stir membrane liquid phase microextraction procedure working under the three-phase mode is proposed for the first time for the determination of six anti-inflammatory drugs in human urine. The target compounds are isolated and preconcentrated using a special device that integrates the extractant and the stirring element. An alkaline aqueous solution is used as extractant phase while 1-octanol is selected as supported liquid membrane solvent. After the extraction, all the analytes are determined by liquid chromatography (LC) with ultraviolet detection (UV). The analytical method is optimized considering the main involved variables (e.g., pH of donor and acceptor phases, extraction time, stirring rate) and the results indicate that the determination of anti-inflammatory drugs at therapeutic and toxic levels is completely feasible. The limits of detection are in the range from 12.6 (indomethacin) to 30.7 μg/L (naproxen). The repeatability of the method, expressed as relative standard deviation (RSD, n = 5) varies between 3.4% (flurbiprofen) and 5.7% (ketoprofen), while the enrichment factors are in the range from 35.0 (naproxen) to 72.5 (indomethacin).  相似文献

The shape of the meniscus (vapor—liquid interface) and the transient region in narrow slit-shaped pores of different width were studied. The adsorbate was modeled by spherical particles, the interaction between them being described by the Lennard-Jones potential model. The calculation was carried out on the basis of the lattice-gas model in the quasichemical approximation for accounting the intermolecular interactions between the nearest neighbors. The greatest meniscus curvature was found for narrow pores. As the pore width increases, the meniscus curvature decreases. Dispersive liquid–liquid microextraction (DLLME) high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) was developed for extraction and determination of triazines from honey. A room temperature ionic liquid, 1-hexyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate [C6MIM][PF6.], was used as extraction solvent and Triton X 114 was used as dispersant. A mixture of 175 μL [C6MIM][PF6] and 50 μL 10% Triton X 114 was rapidly injected into the 20 mL honey sample by syringe. After extraction, phase separation was performed by centrifugation and the sedimented phase was analyzed by HPLC. Some experimental parameters, such as type and volume of extraction solvent, concentration of dispersant, pH value of sample solution, salt concentration and extraction time were investigated and optimized. The detection limits for chlortoluron, prometon, propazine, linuron and prebane are 6.92, 5.84, 8.55, 8.59 and 5.31 μg kg−1, respectively. The main advantages of the proposed method are simplicity of operation, low cost, high enrichment factor and extraction solvent volume at microliter level. Honey samples were analyzed by the proposed method and obtained results indicated that the proposed method provides acceptable recoveries and precisions.  相似文献

A microfluidic device with integrated electrodes for the electrochemically-modulated extraction of ions across immiscible aqueous–organic liquid–liquid interfaces is presented. Using a Y-shaped microfluidic channel with in situ electrodes and co-flowing aqueous and organic immiscible electrolyte solutions, the manipulation of the applied interfacial potential enabled the extraction of ions from the aqueous phase into the organic phase. Data for the extraction of tetraethylammonium cations from aqueous electrolyte into 1,2-dichloroethane electrolyte are presented. The device demonstrates the benefits of combination of microfluidics and liquid–liquid electrochemistry.  相似文献

Vapour—liquid equilibria of dilute solutions of ortho-substituted phenols in cyclohexane have been studied. The isopiestic apparatus and the operational procedure have been described. Eight mono- and di-substituted ortho-alkylphenols have been studied at 298.15 K using this technique; o-ethyl- and o-chlorophenol solutions have been studied at 298.15 and 323.15 K using the bubble-point method. The values of dimerization and polymerization constants are given. The practical osmotic coefficient of the solutions of diphenyl in cyclohexane at 298.15 K (serving as reference in isopiestic measurements) has been determined bythe bubble-point method, and the results represented by a polynomial.  相似文献

The properties of the thin films of liquid crystal (LC) molecules can be governed easily by external fields. The anisotropic structure of the LC molecules has a large impact on the electrical and optical properties of the film. The Langmuir monolayer (LM) of LC molecules at the air–water interface is known to exhibit a variety of surface phases which can be transferred onto a solid substrate using the Langmuir?Blodgett (LB) technique. Here, we have studied the LM and LB films of asymmetrically substituted bent-core LC molecules. The morphology of LB film of the molecules is found to be a controlling parameter for aligning bulk LC in the nematic phase. It was found that the LB films of the bent-core molecules possessing defects favour the planar orientation of nematic LC, whereas the LB films with fewer defects show homeotropic alignment. The defect in LB films may introduce splay or bend distortions in the nematic near the alignment layer which can govern the planar alignment of the bulk LC. The uniform layer of LB film facilitates the molecules of nematic to anchor vertically due to a strong van der Waals interaction between the aliphatic chains leading to a homeotropic alignment.  相似文献

This paper describes a dispersive liquid–liquid microextraction (DLLME) procedure using room temperature ionic liquids (RTILs) coupled to high-performance liquid chromatography with diode array detection capable of quantifying trace amounts of eight pesticides (i.e. thiophanate-methyl, carbofuran, carbaryl, tebuconazole, iprodione, oxyfluorfen, hexythiazox and fenazaquin) in bananas. Fruit samples were first homogenized and extracted (1 g) with acetonitrile and after suitable evaporation and reconstitution of the extract in 10 mL of water, a DLLME procedure using 1-hexyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate ([C6MIM][PF6]) as extraction solvent was used. Experimental conditions affecting the DLLME procedure (sample pH, sodium chloride percentage, ionic liquid amount and volume of disperser solvent) were optimized by means of an experimental design. In order to determine the presence of a matrix effect, calibration curves for standards and fortified banana extracts (matrix matched calibration) were studied. Mean recovery values of the extraction of the pesticides from banana samples were in the range of 69–97% (except for thiophanate-methyl and carbofuran, which were 53–63%) with a relative standard deviation lower than 8.7% in all cases. Limits of detection achieved (0.320–4.66 μg/kg) were below the harmonized maximum residue limits established by the European Union (EU). The proposed method, was also applied to the analysis of this group of pesticides in nine banana samples taken from the local markets of the Canary Islands (Spain). To the best of our knowledge, this is the first application of RTILs as extraction solvents for DLLME of pesticides from samples different than water.  相似文献

The formation of ternary complexes between lanthanide ions [Nd(III) or Eu(III)], octyl(phenyl)-N,N-diisobutyl-carbamoylmethylphosphine oxide (CMPO), and bis-(2-ethylhexyl)phosphoric acid (HDEHP) was probed by liquid–liquid extraction and spectroscopic techniques. Equilibrium modeling of data for the extraction of Nd(III) or Eu(III) from lactic acid media into n-dodecane solutions of CMPO and HDEHP indicates the predominant extracted species are of the type [Ln(AHA)2(A)] and [Ln(CMPO)(AHA)2(A)], where Ln?=?Nd or Eu and A represents the DEHP? anion. FTIR (for both Eu and Nd) and visible spectrophotometry (in the case of Nd) indicate the formation of the [Ln(CMPO)(A)3] complexes when CMPO is added to n-dodecane solutions of the LnA3 compounds. Both techniques indicate a stronger propensity of CMPO to complex Nd(III) versus Eu(III).  相似文献
