The cross section of inelastic neutrino interaction with 56Fe and 208Pb nuclei is calculated. Investigation of these processes caused by neutral currents is essential for considering phenomena that occur during Supernova explosions and designing astrophysical neutrino detectors. The inelastic neutrino scattering cross section is calculated using the model independent approach, which is based on experimental data on nuclear structure. The values of the matrix elements of the considered reaction are determined from the characteristics of electromagnetic dipole М1 transitions in nuclei, obtained by means of nuclear resonance fluorescence.  相似文献

The statistical event-by-event analysis of inelastic interactions of 16O and 32S nuclei in emulsion at 60 A?GeV/c and 200 A?GeV/c reveals the existence of groups of high multiplicity events belonging to very central nuclear interactions with Gaussian pseudorapidity distributions for produced particles as suggested by the original hydrodynamic-tube model. Characteristics of these events are presented. The experimental observations are interpreted as a result of quark-gluon plasma formation in the course of central nuclear interactions.  相似文献

Excitation of low-lying nuclear collective states upon scattering of heavy ions with energies of several tens of MeV/nucleon has been studied. The interaction potential leading to excitation is chosen in the form of a derivative of the microscopic (or semimicroscopic) nucleus-nucleus double-folding optical potential. Elastic and inelastic scattering cross sections have been calculated within the high-energy approximation; the inelastic scattering amplitude was obtained in the first order in the deformation parameter. The cross sections are compared with the experimental data on scattering of 17O from a series of nuclei with excitation of the 2+ level.  相似文献

Jet substructure and differential cross sections for jets produced in the photoproduction and deep inelastic ep scattering regimes have been measured with the ZEUS detector at HERA using an integrated luminosity of 82.2 pb−1. The substructure of jets has been studied in terms of the jet shape and subjet multiplicity for jets with transverse energies . The data are well described by the QCD calculations. The jet shape and subjet multiplicity are used to tag gluon- and quark-initiated jets. Jet cross sections as functions of , jet pseudorapidity, the jet–jet scattering angle, dijet invariant mass and the fraction of the photon energy carried by the dijet system are presented for gluon- and quark-tagged jets. The data exhibit the behaviour expected from the underlying parton dynamics. A value of αs(MZ) of was extracted from the measurements of jet shapes in deep inelastic scattering.  相似文献

The preevaporation phase of the interaction of 70 MeV pions with 60Ni has been studied by measuring multinucleon removal spectra via prompt γ-ray spectra in coincidence with energetic charged particles. The data provide a direct estimate of the reaction cross section due to inelastic scattering and of the multiplicity of energetic protons emitter by the excited nucleus.  相似文献

Using the plane-wave approximation we derive analytical expressions for both the real and imaginary parts of the polarization potential arising from nuclear inelastic scattering. These potentials and the resulting elastic and inelastic cross sections are compared with exact coupledchannel calculations for 13C on 40Ca at 68 MeV. The agreement, for the most part, is good. We also briefly discuss the numerical non-local potentials for this system and the imaginary polarization potential for 16O on 208Pb at 104 MeV.  相似文献

The nuclear effects in the neutrino–nucleus charged-current inelastic scattering process is studied by analyzing the CCFR and NuTeV data. The structure functions F2(x,Q2) and xF3(x,Q2) as well as differential cross sections are calculated by using CTEQ parton distribution functions and the EKRS and HKN nuclear parton distribution functions, and these are compared with the CCFR and NuTeV data. It is found that the corrections of the nuclear effect to the differential cross section for the charged-current antineutrino scattering on the nucleus are negligible, the EMC effect exists in the neutrino structure function F2(x,Q2) in the large x region, the shadowing and anti-shadowing effect occur in the distribution functions of valence quarks in the small and medium x region, respectively. It is also found that shadowing effects on F2(x,Q2) in the small x region in the neutrino–nucleus and the charged-lepton–nucleus deep inelastic scattering processes are different. It is clear that the neutrino–nucleus deep inelastic scattering data should further be employed in restricting the nuclear parton distributions. PACS 13.15.+g; 24.85.+p; 25.30.-c  相似文献

The (semi)microscopic double-folding nucleus-nucleus optical potentials are suggested for consideration of inelastic scattering with excitation of collective nuclear states by using the adiabatic approach and the elastic scattering amplitude in the high-energy approximation. The analytical expression for inelastic scattering amplitude is obtained keeping the first-order terms in the deformation parameter of a potential. Calculations of inelastic cross sections for the 17O heavy ions scattered on different nuclei at about hundred MeV/nucleon are made, and the acceptable qualitative agreement with the experimental data is obtained without introducing free parameters. Measurements of first and second moments of γ-ray multiplicity distributions from deep inelastic collisions of 86Kr + 154Sm are reported. A global systematics of the angular momentum distributions from deep inelastic reactions with projectile masses ? 40 is presented. The average angular momentum is found to depend linearly on the incident channel average angular momentum, while no simple systematics for the second moment appears obvious. In order to illuminate the question whether the angular momentum transfer process reaches statistical equilibrium in deep inelastic collisions, numerical calculations have been performed on two models: a two-sphere classical model including the collective modes of twisting, bending, wriggling and tilting, and a statistical equilibrium Fermi-gas model. The two-sphere classical model is not able to account for the observed second moments, and neither does the Fermi-gas model give an explanation of the deep inelastic multiplicity data.  相似文献

A recent paper by Julius purports to show that previous estimates of the effect of inelastic screening on neutron-nucleus total cross sections are much too large. However, we show that most of this discrepancy is due to his uections for diffractive N1 production which are much too small. The rest may be due to the assumptions in his model. We also emphasize that experimental support for the inelastic screening corrections does not rely on a specific choice of nuclear radii.  相似文献

We present a coherent coupled-channel analysis of 7 MeV neutron and 16 MeV proton elastic and inelastic scattering from 148, 152, 154Sm. The optical potential and nuclear deformation parameters are determined so as to fit not only these elastic and inelastic scattering data but also the low-energy neutron scattering properties and the total cross sections over a wide energy range. This analysis provides evidence of the same excitation strengths for both projectiles in the case of 152, 154Sm, and of a smaller excitation strength for the proton than for the neutron in case of 148Sm. Moreover the quadrupole moments of these deformed optical potentials are in good agreement with those extracted from Coulomb excitation measurements and from nuclear matter distribution calculations.  相似文献

A phenomenological optical potential is generalized to include the Coulomb and nuclear interactions caused by the dynamical deformation of its surface. In the high-energy approach, analytical expressions for elastic and inelastic scattering amplitudes are obtained, where all the orders in the deformation parameters are included. The multistep effect of the 2+ rotational state excitation on elastic scattering is analyzed. Calculations of inelastic cross sections for the 17O ions scattered on different nuclei at about tens of MeV/nucleon or higher are compared with experimental data, and the important role of the Coulomb excitation is established. We consider inelastic scattering of pions from nuclei using many-body quantum field theory methods. We find that, in an inelastic amplitude for small energy transfer, one can separate out effects of particle-hole correlations in the final nuclear state. In hadron-nucleus interactions, the stronger is nuclear shadowing in the total cross section the higher is the multiplicity of secondary hadrons. In deep inelastic scattering nuclear shadowing at smallx is associated with the hadronlike behaviour of photons as contrasted to the pointlike behaviour in the non-shadowing region of largex. In this paper we predict dilution of multiproduction of secondary hadrons, and weaker fragmentation of the target nucleus, in deep inelastic leptoptoproduction on nuclei in the shadowing region of smallx as compared to the non-shadowing region of largex. This paradoxial conclusion has its origin in nuclear enhancement of the coherent diffraction dissociation of photons which affects multiproduction in the shadowing region and does not contribute in the non-shadowing region. We present numerical predictions for multiproduction in theμXe interactions studied by the Fermilab E665 collaboration.  相似文献

The role of the nuclear and Coulomb interactions in coherent fragmentation of relativistic nuclei is discussed with the cluster-model analysis of the experimental data on the fragmentation of 7Li (P = 3A GeV/c) via the 3H + 4He channel in photoemulsion used as an example. The calculated electromagnetic contribution of ~10% to the cross section is not in conflict with the photoemulsion data and the upper estimate of ~40% derived from the earlier measurements of total cross sections for fragmentation of light nuclei using the counter technique. The observed irregularities in the differential cross section for 7Li fragmentation with a separated Coulomb peak at a very small momentum transfer Q are ascribed to the overlap of nuclear diffraction patterns arising from light (C, N, O) and heavy (Ag, Br) photoemulsion nuclei. The predicted diffraction cross sections in the inelastic channel drastically differ from the usual shape of nuclear diffraction in an elastic channel. For pure targets, they have a shape of oscillations with a few peaks of comparable intensity and show strong dependence on the form of the surface nuclear density and radii of the intranuclear cluster and target nucleus. The probability for two-body clustering in 7Li is estimated at about 0.7.  相似文献

The excitation of collective nuclear states by high energy particles is considered within the framework of the Glauber theory. The approach is based on the adiabatic approximation and expansion of the scattering amplitude in powers of the nonsphericity parameter. The formulae for the excitation cross sections of the rotational and one- and two-phonon vibrational states, as well as the elastic scattering cross section with the collective motion included, are obtained. The effect of nucleon correlations in both elastic and inelastic cross sections is also studied. The theoretical predictions are compared to new data on 1 GeV proton scattering by 58Ni, 208Pb, 12C, 40Ca and 39K. A comparison with electron scattering data is simultaneously carried out. The agreement with the experimental data is generally good.  相似文献

The inelastic interactions of 150 GeV positive muons produced at Fermi Laboratory have been studied in nuclear emulsion. Secondary particles produced in these interactions have been identified, the energy spectra and angular distributions for pions and protons are given. The inclusive pionproduction reaction is studied and the relative shape ofp t 2 distribution is discussed. The average charged multiplicity relations are determined as a function of different parameters and are compared with the multiplicities produced in pure hadronic interactions. The integral cross sections have been measured and are compared with the first and second powers of 1/(1+q 2/m p 2 ) forσ exp(q 2,v), the quantity commonly called the “virtualphoton-nucleon total cross section”. The values of the structure function νW 2 are calculated for 0.02≤q 2≤0.5. The present data are compared with other muon data at the same energy.  相似文献
