By making use of the path integral duality transformation, we derive the string representation for the partition function of an extended Dual Abelian Higgs Model containing gauge fields of external currents of electrically charged particles. By the same method, we obtain the corresponding representations for the generating functionals of gauge field and monopole current correlators. In the case of bilocal correlators, the obtained results are found to be in agreement with the dual Meissner scenario of confinement and the Stochastic Model of the QCD vacuum. The structure of the quark propagator of QCD in a confining background is not known. We make an ansatz for it, as hinted by a particular mechanism for confinement, and analyze its implications in the meson and baryon correlators. We connect the various terms in the Källen-Lehmann representation of the quark propagator with appropriate combinations of hadron correlators, which may ultimately be calculated in lattice QCD. Furthermore, using the positivity of the path integral measure for vector like theories, we reanalyze some mass inequalities in our formalism. A curiosity of the analysis is that, the exotic components of the propagator (axial and tensor), produce terms in the hadron correlators which, if not vanishing in the gauge field integration, lead to violations of fundamental symmetries. The non observation of these violations implies restrictions in the space-time structure of the contributing gauge field configurations. In this way, lattice QCD can help us analyze the microscopic structure of the mechanisms for confinement.Supported in part by CICYT (AEN91-0234) and DGICYT grant (PB91-0119-C02-01)  相似文献

The formulation of gravitation theory in the light cone gauge is studied. After a brief discussion of Yang- Mills theory for purposes of illustration, tensor and scalartensor gravitation are investigated. We show that if the gauge conditions are properly chosen the constrained components of the metric tensor can be explicitly solved for by quadrature, so that the field theory can be reformulated entirely in terms of the physical transverse fields. It is also shown that the light cone gauge is useful for finding wave solutions of classical field equations. Occasional reference is made to dual models, primarily to explain our motivation, but familiarity with them is not required for an understanding of this paper.  相似文献

We compute the fundamental correlation functions in two-dimensional rational conformal field theory, from which all other correlators can be obtained by sewing: the correlators of three bulk fields on the sphere, one bulk and one boundary field on the disk, three boundary fields on the disk, and one bulk field on the cross cap. We also consider conformal defects and calculate the correlators of three defect fields on the sphere and of one defect field on the cross cap. Each of these correlators is presented as the product of a structure constant and the appropriate conformal two- or three-point block. The structure constants are expressed as invariants of ribbon graphs in three-manifolds.  相似文献

We calculate the low-energy limit of heavy quark current correlators within an expansion in the inverse heavy quark mass. The induced low-energy currents built from the gluon fields corresponding to the initial heavy quark currents are obtained from an effective action for gauge fields in the one-loop approximation at the leading order of the expansion. Explicit formulae for the low-energy spectra of electromagnetic and tensor heavy quark current correlators are given. Consequences of the appearance of a nonvanishing spectral density below the two-particle threshold for high precision phenomenology of heavy quarks are discussed quantitatively. The chiral bosonization in non-abelian gauge theories is described starting directly from the QCD functional. For a given mass scale Λ, QCD may be equivalently represented by colour chiral fields, gauge fields and high energy fermions. The effective action for colour chiral fields may admit the existence of a colour skyrmion-boson with baryon number 2/3.  相似文献

We consider chiral fermions interacting minimally with abelian and non-abelian gauge fields. Using a path integral approach and exploring the consequences of a mechanism of symmetry restoration, we show that the gauge anomaly has null expectation value in the vacuum for both cases (abelian and non-abelian). We argue that the same mechanism has no possibility to cancel the chiral anomaly, what eliminates competition between chiral and gauge symmetry at full quantum level. We also show that the insertion of the gauge anomaly in arbitrary gauge invariant correlators gives a null result, which points towards anomaly cancellation in the subspace of physical state vectors.  相似文献

The gauge gravitation theory, based on the equivalence principle besides the gauge principle, is formulated in the fibre bundle terms. The correlation between gauge geometry on spinor bundles describing Dirac fermion fields and space-time geometry on a tangent bundle is investigated. We show that field functions of fermion fields in presence of different gravitational fields are always written with respect to different reference frames. Therefore, the conventional quantization procedure is applicable to fermion fields only if gravitational field is fixed. Quantum gravitational fields violate the above mentioned correlation between two geometries.  相似文献

We present a general construction of all correlation functions of a two-dimensional rational conformal field theory, for an arbitrary number of bulk and boundary fields and arbitrary topologies. The correlators are expressed in terms of Wilson graphs in a certain three-manifold, the connecting manifold. The amplitudes constructed this way can be shown to be modular invariant and to obey the correct factorization rules.  相似文献

A formalism is presented which provides a framework for analysis of the abelian gauge theory of a second-rank anti-symmetric tensor in terms of the mutually dual auxiliary fields. This new formalism illustrates how the different gauge fixing conditions are related to the different field representations exhibiting the rich dynamical features of the antisymmetric tensor gauge fields. The derivation relies upon an analogy with the simpler case of the two-dimensional Maxwell field.  相似文献

We investigate the finite temperature critical dynamics of three-dimensional superconductors in the charged regime, described by a transverse gauge field coupling to the superconducting order parameter. Assuming relaxational dynamics for both the order parameter and the gauge fields, within a dynamical renormalization group scheme, we find a new dynamic universality class characterized by a finite fixed point ratio between the transport coefficients associated with the order parameter and gauge fields, respectively. We find signatures of this universality class in various measurable physical quantities, and in the existence of a universal amplitude ratio formed by a combination of physical quantities.  相似文献

This paper analyses some common physical characteristics of the gauge field strengths and sources with unequivalent potentials and expresses it in geometrical terms. The eigen-directions of these fields and sources form twistfree curve congrence, which has orthogonal hypersurfaces. The field is Abelianlizable (frequently, even trival) on each hypersurface, i.e. there exists Higgs field, which is invariant under translation along each hypersurface. The gauge field and sources are not altered during the variation of potentials, generated by the gauge rotation around Higgs fields with equal angles on each individual hypersurface but with unequal angles on different hypersurfaces.  相似文献

We fulfill the detailed analysis of coupling the charged bosonic higher-spin fields to external constant electromagnetic field in first order in external field strength. Cubic interaction vertex of arbitrary massive and massless bosonic higher-spin fields with external field is found. Construction is based on deformation of free Lagrangian and free gauge transformations by terms linear in electromagnetic field strength. In massive case a formulation with Stueckelberg fields is used. We begin with the most general form of deformations for Lagrangian and gauge transformations, admissible by Lorentz covariance and gauge invariance and containing some number of arbitrary coefficients, and require the gauge invariance of the deformed theory in first order in strength. It yields the equations for the coefficients which are exactly solved. As a result, the complete interacting Lagrangian of arbitrary bosonic higher-spin fields with constant electromagnetic field in first order in electromagnetic strength is obtained. Causality of massive spin-2 and spin-3 fields propagation in the corresponding electromagnetic background is proved.  相似文献

We study correlation functions in topologically twisted , d=4 supersymmetric Yang–Mills theory for gauge groups of rank larger than one on compact four-manifolds X. We find that the topological invariance of the generator of correlation functions of BRST invariant observables is not spoiled by noncompactness of field space. We show how to express the correlators on simply connected manifolds of b 2,+(X)>0 in terms of Seiberg–Witten invariants and the classical cohomology ring of X. For manifolds X of simple type and gauge group SU(N) we give explicit expressions of the correlators as a sum over =1 vacua. We describe two applications of our expressions, one to superconformal field theory and one to large N expansions of SU(N) , d=4 supersymmetric Yang–Mills theory. Two different gauge potential methods are engaged to calculate explicitly the spin Hall conductivity in graphene. The graphene Hamiltonian with spin-orbit interaction is expressed in terms of kinematic momenta by introducing a gauge potential. A formulation of the spin Hall conductivity is established by requiring that the time evolution of this kinematic momentum vector vanishes. We then calculated the conductivity employing the Berry gauge fields. We show that both of the gauge fields can be deduced from the pure gauge field arising from the Foldy-Wouthuysen transformations.  相似文献

New gauges are introduced. The potentials, vector and scalar, in these gauges are obtained in closed forms by the Green's function method. These closed form solutions are explicity expressed only in terms of the charge and current densities. The physical interpretation is on how potentials propagate from the charge and current densities. The Coulomb gauge and the Lorentz gauge are special cases of a new gauge defined in this paper. It is called the complete α-Lorentz gauge. The scalar potential propagates at speed αc from the charge density for any positive α. When α is one, the usual solutions for the Lorentz gauge are recovered. When α is not one, our results show that, in order to satisfy the requirement that electromagnetic fields be gauge invariant and in order to conform to Maxwell's interpretation that electromagnetic fields propagate at speed c from the charge and current densities (we only consider the vacuum), the vector potential must contain two mathematically and physically independent gradient components. Furthermore, one such component must propagate at speed αc while the other must at speed c from charge and current densities. Our discussions on the Coulomb gauge are based on the results obtained by letting α go to (positive) infinity. Guided by Maxwell's interpretation, we introduce a new decomposition of the vector potential in the Lorentz gauge into a longitudinal and a transverse component. For an arbitrary charge and current distribution, it is shown that the transverse component will generate all the fields only in the radiation zone. However, for a point charged particle, the transverse component only generates the “free fields”everywhere in the instantaneous rest frame of the charged particle.  相似文献

We analyze subtracted dispersion relations for meson correlators at finite baryon density and temperature. Such relations are needed for QCD sum rules. We point out the importance of scattering terms, as well as finite, well-defined subtraction constants. Both are necessary for consistency, in particular for the equality of the longitudinal and transverse correlators in the limit of vanishing three-momentum of mesons relative to the medium. We present detailed calculations in various mesonic channels for the case of the Fermi gas of nucleons.  相似文献

By using the method of center projection, the center vortex part of the gauge field is isolated and its propagator is evaluated in the center Landau gauge, which minimizes the open 3-dimensional Dirac volumes of nontrivial center links bounded by the closed 2-dimensional center vortex surfaces. The center field propagator is found to dominate the gluon propagator (in the Landau gauge) in the low momentum regime and to give rise to a power-law correction proportional to p(-2.9(1)) at high momentum. The screening mass of the center vortex field vanishes above the critical temperature of the deconfinement phase transition, which naturally explains the second order nature of this transition consistent with the vortex picture. Finally, the ghost propagator of the maximal center gauge is found to be infrared finite and, thus, shows that the coset fields play no role for confinement.  相似文献

By using the path integral method, we calculate the Green functions of the field strength of Yang-Mills theories on arbitrary nonorientable surfaces in Schwinger-Fock gauge. We show that the non-gauge invariant correlators consist of a free part and an almost x-independent part. We also show that the gauge invariant n-point functions are those corresponding to the free part, as in the case of orientable surfaces.  相似文献

A dynamic theory of two-photon correlators measured in experiments with single molecular impurity centers has been developed. The theory takes into account the interaction between optically active electrons of an impurity center and phonons, excitations in tunneling systems of polymers and glasses, and transverse electromagnetic field. Both the correlator measured in the start-stop regime and the “full” correlator have been analyzed, and equations for these correlators have been derived. An equation relating these two correlators has been also obtained. The effect of the triplet level of an impurity molecule on the correlators leading to bunching of spontaneously emitted photons has been studied. The two-photon correlators have been calculated numerically, and their dependence on the incident light frequency and time between the pairs of detected photons in various realistic situations has been derived.
