By introducing a four-layer step-index waveguide modeling, the characteristics of long-period fiber grating (LPFG) with an nm-thick film overlay, which has higher refractive index than that of fiber cladding are investigated in detail. The influence of both the overlay thickness and refractive index on the tuning ability of LPFG is analyzed. The numerical results demonstrate that spectral response of LPFG is divided into three distinct regions as the overlay deposition increases and the shift of resonant wavelength is drastic in some special thickness range. In conjunction with higher-order cladding mode coupling and fiber cladding etching, the sensitivity of LPFG to the overlay refractive index is enhanced significantly and over 120 nm resonant wavelength tunable range is achieved.  相似文献

长周期光纤光栅是近几年出现的一种新型光纤器件。其耦合机理是前向传输的纤芯基模与前向传输的各阶包层模式之间的耦合 ,这与光纤布喇格光栅明显不同。它对温度、应力、弯曲及外部折射率的变化具有相当高的灵敏度 ,是一种理想的光纤型敏感结构。提出利用长周期光纤光栅谐振波长的移动或移动变化量进行磁场强度的测量 ,并进行了理论推导、仿真实验及分析研究。得出了谐振波长变化量与外界磁场强度的关系模型。分析了设计中应该考虑的因素。  相似文献

采用四层阶跃折射率几何模型,研究了镀有SiO2-WO3薄膜LPFG在溶液折射率测量方面的特性,并与未镀膜情况进行了比较。当LPFG包层外镀膜后,测量纯水、CaCl2溶液(浓度为450gL-1,折射率为1.4056)时波长漂移量分别是未镀膜时的1.67和2.55倍;谐振峰的损耗变化分别是未镀膜时的4.44和2.82倍;在1.36-1.38折射率范围内,传感器的灵敏度和分辨率分别是216.58nm和0.82×10-5,是镀膜前的3.27和0.30倍,说明镀膜后LPFG对溶液折射率测量的灵敏度和分辨率得到了很大的提高。  相似文献

长周期光纤光栅(LPFG)传感器具有非常广泛的应用价值,而有效解决物理量交叉敏感问题是其实用化的关键。基于LPFG对包层外介质折射率和厚度的敏感性,提出一种双段多层折射率横向分布结构的新型LPFG传感器的设计,并利用耦合模理论和传输矩阵方法分析了镀膜材料折射率、膜层厚度和镀层长度对新型LPFG传感器光谱特性的影响。软件仿真结果证明,这种LPFG由于结构设计上的特殊性,将使LPFG的谐振峰发生分裂,即一个透射峰分裂为两个。由于两个分裂峰对应力和温度的灵敏度不同,利用该结构的LPFG作为传感器,可以实现温度、应力等物理量的同步测量,从而解决LPFG传感器的交叉敏感问题。  相似文献

A novel long period fiber grating (LPFG) sensor structure is proposed in this paper. It is constituted by coating an over-layer partially on the fiber grating. Then the LPFG has a two-section multilayer transversely distributed refractive index structure. Using coupling mode theory and transfer matrix method, the influences of refractive index, thickness and length of the coating layer on the spectral characteristics of the new type LPFG were analyzed. The simulation results show that the resonant band is split due to the particularity of the LPFG structure, and the wavelength splitting is strongly dependent on the parameters of the coating layer. This LPFG designing may solve the cross sensitive problem and then realize synchronous measurement of temperature, strain and other physical quantities.  相似文献

基于耦合模理论,首先研究了镀膜长周期光纤光栅(LPFG)高阶包层模的模式转换,划分了高阶包层模的非模式转换区及模式转换区。分析了高阶包层模有效折射率随薄膜厚度增加的响应特性,包层模谐振波长在模式转换区的偏移量要大于非模式转换区。在此基础上,研究了不同包层半径下高阶包层模谐振波长随光栅周期的变化情况,结果表明,相同包层半径下模式转换区内双峰间距的偏移量大于非模式转换区;无论在模式转换区还是非模式转换区,包层半径的减小将增加双峰间距的偏移量。最后分析了不同包层半径下的高阶包层模双峰透射谱在模式转换区及非模式转换区内的折射率响应,进而提出了薄包层镀膜LPFG的优化设计方案,当选定敏感膜层厚度及折射率处于镀膜LPFG的模式转换区内,光栅周期靠近相位匹配转折点时,将得到灵敏度高于传统LPFG双峰传感器的镀膜LPFG折射率型双峰传感器;而减小包层半径,将进一步提高传感器的分辨本领。  相似文献

研究了镀膜相移长周期光纤光栅(PS-LPFG)工作于相位匹配转折点(PMTP)时的大间隔双峰滤波特性。LPFG工作于PMTP时,纤芯模与高次包层模耦合产生的损耗峰3dB带宽可达288nm以上,在此LPFG中点引入单个π相移时在中心波长两侧出现的两个阻带峰间隔达388nm,远大于低次包层模耦合π相移LPFG的双峰间隔。在LPFG中均匀地引入M(M>1)个π相移时,双峰间隔随M的增大而增大,M为奇数时,中心波长损耗为0;M为偶数时,中心波长损耗随M的增大而减小。薄膜折射率与厚度的增加都将使两个阻带峰向短波长方向移动并增大双峰间隔。光栅长度的增大在改变双峰峰值损耗的同时使双峰间隔逐渐减小。  相似文献

提出了一种光纤横截面折射率变化呈旋转非对称变化的长周期光纤光栅(R-LPFG) 结构,并利用多层圆波导理论和横截面折射率离散分析方法,结合模式耦合方程组和数值求解方法理论分析了这种光栅的模式耦合特征.理论分析表明R-LPFG纤芯基模主要与一阶非对称包层模发生耦合,当光栅旋转度逐渐变大时,R-LPFG基模会与一阶非对称包层模的奇模和偶模同时发生耦合,这就会使原来单一的谐振峰逐渐分裂成双峰,这是常规光栅类型所不具有的透射谱特征.由于R-LPFG的双峰来自同一对耦合模式,它们对温度的响应很相似,因此可利用双峰间 关键词: 光纤传感 光纤光栅 2激光')" href="#">CO2激光 旋转折变  相似文献

We have investigated the effects of cladding etching in arc-induced long-period fiber gratings. Comparing the position of the resonant wavelengths at each diameter with the corresponding theoretical dispersion curves of effective refractive index, it is found that some of the resonances show a better match with anti-symmetrical cladding modes, while others with symmetrical cladding modes. Etching the cladding diameter to ∼39 μm, results in coupling to a high-order cladding mode that is very sensitive to changes in the ambient refractive index. The resonant peak shifts remarkably (∼230 nm) toward shorter wavelengths as the external refractive index increases. This sensitivity is higher than any previously reported in arc-induced long-period fiber gratings.  相似文献

A novel method for designing chalcogenide long-period fiber grating (LPFG) sensors based on the dual-peak resonance effect of the LPFG near the phase matching turning point (PMTP) is presented. Refractive index sensing in a high-refractive-index chalcogenide fiber is achieved with a coated thinly clad film. The dual-peak resonant characteristics near the PMTP and the refractive index sensing properties of the LPFG are analyzed first by the phase-matching condition of the LPFG. The effects of film parameters and cladding radius on the sensitivity of refractive index sensing are further discussed. The sensor is optimized by selecting the appropriate film parameters and cladding radius. Simulation results show that the ambient refractive index sensitivity of a dual-peak coated thinly clad chalcogenide LPFG at the PMTP can be 2400 nm/RIU, which is significantly higher than that of non-optimized gratings. It has great application potential in the field of chemical sensing and biosensors.  相似文献

报道了一种用高频CO2激光脉冲在普通通信光纤包层边缘单侧写入的新型长周期光纤光栅。研究发现,这种长周期光纤光栅的折射率变化主要发生在光纤包层区域,而纤芯的折射率变化较小;同时该光栅的附加损耗低于0.5 dB。进一步折射率特性实验研究表明,由于其特殊的折变结构,这种光栅具有较高的外界环境灵敏度,当外界折射率在1.41~1.45范围内变化时,其谐振波长漂移量高达15.52 nm,比实验测得的用传统方法写入的长周期光纤光栅谐振波长漂移量高出近3倍,这种光栅结构在光纤传感中将具有重要的应用。  相似文献

Based on coupled-mode theory of long-period fiber grating (LPFG), a theoretical analysis and simulations for the optimal design of a temperature-insensitive LPFG is presented in order to achieve an athermal condition for sensing the refractive index of the external medium. Effects of the variation of the cladding radius and grating period on the temperature sensitivity of the LPFG are discussed. Both of these parameters are found to be important to control the temperature sensitivity when the thermo-optic coefficients of core and cladding materials are of the same order. Other grating parameters are also optimized in order to achieve a good contrast of the grating period with resonance wavelength in the 1.5 μm region and to sense the external medium refractive index over a wide range. Variation of external medium refractive index from 1.0 to 1.45 results a red-shift in the LPFG resonance wavelength by 86 nm with its temperature sensitivity as low as 0.008 nm/°C over a temperature range of 0–80 °C for this optimally designed LPFG.  相似文献

In this paper, we have investigated the response of long period grating (LPG) as refractive index sensor. The response has been studied for refractive index variation ranging from 1 to 1.45. In this work, we found that the sensing mechanism is based on two different aspects. First is the change of coupling power from the guided core mode to other co-propagating cladding modes and second is the wavelength shift of the peak resonant wavelengths from their original positions due the change of refractive index of the environmental (external) medium surrounding the cladding of the grating.  相似文献

提出了基于光纤布拉格光栅(FBG)包层模式的折射率传感方案。实验中,利用不同浓度的丙三醇水溶液作为外界折射率传感溶液,采用氢氟酸溶液化学腐蚀的方法来减小光纤包层的直径以增大包层模式对外界折射率的敏感度,研究了腐蚀后光纤布拉格光栅包层模式的耦合波长对外部折射率的变化关系。实验结果表明在1.3300~1.4584的折射率范围内,包层模式耦合波长随外界折射率增大而增大,在接近光纤包层折射率处具有很高的折射率灵敏度,最大达到了172 nm/riu(refractive index unit)。而且,包层模谐振的光谱半峰全宽(约0.07 nm)仅为布拉格纤芯模谐振光谱半峰全宽的1/4,能够获得更好的传感精度。  相似文献

基于光纤光栅的模式耦合理论,采用传输矩阵法对啁啾长周期光纤光栅(LPFG)的超宽带滤波特性进行了分析。研究表明当啁啾LPFG的纤芯模同时与同向传输的多个阶次的包层模发生耦合,且与多个不同阶次包层模对应的谐振峰交叠时,其传输谱带宽可扩展到500nm以上,可用做超宽带带阻滤波器。传输谱带宽随模式序数、啁啾系数、光栅长度、周期和折射率调制量的增加单调递增,但随光纤包层半径的增大单调递减。采用高斯折射率切趾技术抑制了传输谱旁瓣,为设计超宽带滤波器提供了新的方法。  相似文献

发现了用高频CO2激光写入的长周期光纤光栅的谐振波长对弯曲灵敏度在圆周的不同方向上呈现周期性,且在两个特定的对称方向上对弯曲不敏感(即弯曲曲率达到1.1m-1,谐振波长仅漂移-0.018nm).据此提出新型对弯曲不敏感的传感器和可调灵敏度弯曲传感器的设计方案,可望从根本上解决长周期光纤光栅在测量中存在的温度、应变或折射率与弯曲之间的交叉敏感问题.  相似文献
